There is no such thing as a slip on exhaust for the mt-07. The stock exhaust is a fully welded system with the muffler located under the engine and an open tailpipe. Even though you know this you’ve recommended the non existent slip on exhaust more than once.
Wow I didn't know that, I just assumed you could put on a slip-on on the MT-07 like most bikes. I have a full akrapovic exhaust and love it. Thanks for letting me know, I won't say that anymore. 👍
Its weird you treat it like a cruiser. For a lot of us MT07 riders its more like a heavy comfortable supermoto, you can really hoon around on it. Wheelie like crazy and throw it around with its low weight!
Just got a CFMoto 450nk which I heard called a smaller MT-07. Been LOVING this bike so I'm pretty confident I'll want to upgrade to an MT-07 at somepoint.
My friend Harry has an MT07. He modified how the clutch is. He turned it into a wheelie machine. He does a lot of wheelies at Floyd Bennet Field in Brooklyn, NY. He had a leak in the fork seals. I told him it is because he wheelies it so much. He also took it to the track 10 times last summer. He let me try it too! 😅 He thinks Cyclecruza is funny when he talks about "Ugly bikes."
I'm looking for a cruiser bike to ride around town. I didn't even consider the MT O7 as a cruiser bike until I saw your video. Being light weight, maneuverable and comfortable checks all the things I wanted from the bike. The only problem is that my local dealership doesn't allow test rides because of insurance reasons they say. I guess I have to wait until Yamaha comes with a Demo truck.
I can't get test rides either except at a Harley Davidson dealership. When I bought my MT-07 I was thinking about getting a Harley for something different but realized the MT-07 makes the best cruiser. I actually bought my MT-07 new at an exclusive Harley Davidson dealership and he said it was his best seller there and was always on backorder. I had to order my MT-07 and wait a few months because they were always sold out everywhere. I like this MT-07 better than any cruiser I ever rode so far.
I paid $3,000 for my dream bike- 2000 Suzuki Bandit 1200cc. Its probably similar to the mt07 of today as far as low end grunt and wheelie abilities. I also bought a Triumph Scrambler 400X for backroad backpack, camping adventures. Yamaha has been building tripples since the 70s or 80s as I owned an 850 triple from back then.super reliable.
I hundred percent agree. I bought an FZ07 back in April (older version of MT07) and it's an amazing bike. I have a SC Project exhaust and it sounds amazing!
What's the temps there man when it's cold out I like hearing them makes me motivated hearing other riders riding in cold temperatures to get out there for an hour or two
I went to purchase a mt07 last yr. My dealer got 2 in and they both sold the day before i went in. I ended up getting a mt09. you are right the power and gas consumption gets alittle ridiculous when you aggressively ride the mt09. Most of the riding people do in and out of town the mt07 is perfect for. Ive actually been debating on trading in my mt09 for a mt07.
I traded in my MT-09 for an GSX-8S because i missed my MT-07. lol I also love the sound of a 270 degree twin and i really didn’t need the top end the MT-09 had for my type of riding, so I ended up trading it in for similar reasons.
@@FatYokel I love it! It's everything my MT-07 was but better in every way. I'll say once you get it tuned and basic bolt ons (airbox, exhaust) It's low to mid-end grunt pulls just like the MT-09. The power does tapper out once you get to 9,000rpm, which is where the MT-09 differs and easily continues to make power. So it's really up to what you want out of a bike. If you love bikes like the SV-650, MT-07 but want more low-mid end grunt with a sprinkle of extra top end, i really recommend it. I will also add the bikes handles very well, the suspension is a little on the stiffer side, so it can be more harsh on rough roads but it still really comfortable. This year i plan on adding the cruise control, which i wish was a factory option but the aftermarket support has been so good for this bike, which is another thing i love.
@@HifeMan Great testimony man I do appreciate it. My situation is a bit unusual, I'm a new street rider that bought the MT-07 to start on a month ago, but then got lucky with two used Suzuki and realized I might not actually want the MT lol, certainly not to start on. I still want one modern new bike it's my treat to myself, but really thinking about switching to the GSX8. I may have done it from the start but I was put off by the ride by wire and didn't realize it could be tuned How is the throttle compared to the MT, and where did you get it tuned?
I love my XSR900 but its too powerful for city use - basically I am on the 2nd gear the whole time. But mt07 was my first choice until I saw 2023 Blue XSR900 - i fell in love.
I think that the best thing about the MT 07 was its simplicity, I hope that you get to test ride the new one just to see if the electronics are a worthwhile boost in price.
did a testride on a cb 1000 R... what a beast, even faster than my (previously owned MT09 or Z900 RS)... but... you will instantly loose your license if you even just turn the throttle by more than 15 %.... After a few high capacity bikes I went for a Honda Transalp XL 750... Considering a MT 07 as a second "fun" bike
I get it, C Cruzza. As an everyday, Ride around town, hit the twistes, commute... A jack of all trades, light weight bike. Highway capable, will smoke most cars red light to red light. If I had deeper pockets, own a touring bike when I occasionally need to cross the country... throw in a dual sport for some off road rippin'. But, if all you can afford is one bike, the MT-07 is a shining star!
Hello, CycleCruza! Intending to buy MT-07 after 9 years with XJR1300. The only thing i'm worried about - how is it on the freeways? I like to ride country roads all day 200+ km one way and the same back. Is it suited for this kind of rides? Or i should get something with the proper windscreen?
I have an fz07, it’s a comfortable bike to do long rides on, personally I don’t mind the wind, but on days where the wind is blowing strong, it does make the bike feel a bit unstable when you’re riding on the highway above 75mph
@@206dave Thanks for the answer. I had a advanced windscreen on my xjr, and it made comfortable cruising up to 95 mph. Hopefully it will do the trick for this bike too.
@ when I ride I usually go out for hours at a time and it’s a comfortable bike to be on, way better than my Drz, my Drz is fun, but long rides on the highway with the dirt tires on it will rattle all your bones 🤣
I love my xsr700! Perfect city bike. Only thing is I wish it had 5-10 more hp. Maybe a yoshimura exhaust system will get my bike exactly where I want it.
if you are heavier you can always upgrade the suspension. The suspension is fine for me but I'm lightweight at 170 lbs. I don't understand why Yamaha doesn't offer a SP version like the MT-09 and MT-10.
@@CycleCruza A SP version would pique my interest! I don't mind messing around with a bike but replacing suspension components is usually a bit of a pita and more than I want to have to do to make it "work" for me...
CycleCruza what's your position/opinion on the front forks fitted on Yamaha MT07? I believe only with the 2025 model, Yamaha has decided to fit more premium inverted forks. Is it really a flaw on previous models? I've got a 2023 Icon Blue MT07, so I was curious to get your opinion 😊. Thanks
Where in NY? In NYC I'd just have an e-bike because traffic is crazy but I hear they steal e-bikes like crazy in NYC. If you live in a more chill city in NY, the MT-07 is perfect.
Too Bad the front Forks are Pogo Sticks. I put Ohlin Cartridges in mine .. The rear shock is totally shot @ 20,000 miles.. I have a K-Tek Rear shock to install .
Debating between this or the GSX8S. I found a mt07 for 8100, gsx8s for 8400 all in before tax. I love the MT-07's engine and 40lbs lighter but the 8S looks sick, more power, has traction control, and bidirectional quick shifter. Will be my first proper street bike coming from a DRZ400, what should i get???
As someone who had both and still has the GSX-8S I would definitely recommend it over the MT-07. Now my experience might be outdated because I had a 2018 MT-07 but everything on the GSX800 is better. Also if you like torque, you will love it! One thing i noticed is the MT/07 has a shorter wheel base, so much easier to wheelie. I’ll say the MT-07 is better for wheelies, and just being a hooligan. The GSX-8S is a more balanced bike for everyday riding and some spirited riding on the backroads.
Mt-07 all day long... get exhaust dna filter ecu flash front fork cartridge kit and rear shock braided brake lines with left over money and you bike will be perfect
I mean yeah, if you’re the ideal size that they build the bike for, it’s fine. If you’re not, you’ll spend a small fortune getting it up to the mt09 in suspension alone because the stock suspension is horrid.
Personally as I'm a 6-2 individual, I found the GSX-8S just a bit larger fit, more roomy, and with the same engine quality and sound, you have another 20 horsepower and 10 foot-lbs, plus some tasty features like quick-shifter and a couple of things.
I love my fz07 so much. I have a cheap chinese exhaust tho. I think i got it from your cynneeeeseeee schoooootah 😂😂 . But honestly its great wouldnt give it up for anything. I love how the bike pulls.
It can be a bit much for a new rider but most people that start on one seems to do ok. The new 2025 MT-07 has power levels to help tone down the grunt for a new rider.
2025 MT-07 has SIGNIFICANT updates, in most of the weak spots it has had. Brakes and suspension is so much better. By the way, there's no such thing as a "slip-on" for this machine. Factory system is all welded. Full system required.
That's what I love about it, small compact and punchy. Some riders like land yacht bikes and that is cool if that is what they love. Everybody has their own preferences, there is a bike for everybody.
I dont even ride on the street anymore!! its boring. I get bored too fast if i cant constantly go over 100. Plus too much trash to worry about on the streets. Rocks potholes debri stones wood nails cars stray dogs deer
IMO it'll always be the King of the middleweight naked bikes. No matter what new bike comes out in the market. Having owned one and loving it's punchy torque, playful hooligan nature and is a certified wheelie machine. There isn't anything I didn't like about it. Even if people whine over it's soft suspension. Though it's suspension was meant to be softer to cushion the rider as it was meant for inner city riding. With many inner city roads being riddled with potholes, cracks, tyre snakes and uneven surfaces, it's perfect for a daily commuter in and outta the city.
💯 Yeah the suspension is meant to be softer for hood riding. The suspension is just fine for me but if someone wants to make it better it is an easy upgrade, Yamaha should make a SP version.
Grab the bucket. Anyway, motorcycles are awesome. Jaded journalists who'd been spoiled on the cream of the crop for decades gushed all over the MT-07 when it first hit in 2014. Why? Test one and find out for yourself, with AN OPEN MIND.

If I had deeper pockets, own a touring bike when I occasionally need to cross the country... throw in a dual sport for some off road rippin'. But, if all you can afford is one bike, the MT-07 is a shining star!
It is best to have a lot of different bikes if you can afford it but the MT-07 is a keeper. 👍
How do you feel about the 2025 MT-07? I'm thinking about getting that version because of all the updates!
Thats what I am doing. Waiting for the 25' model to come out.
What speed can this bike handle in a highway?
My man, your bike sounds fantastic. .
Exhaust+intake+tune on the cp2 gives u about 10 more hp
@@claytondecowski3369 I think it's closer to 4-5 but still significant and lots of other benefits as well.
iam getting cb650r tomorrow, excited to see how it rides, i only rode mt07 before
I own a 23 cbr 650r, it is amazing and so smooth, you are going to love it!
@@allinoneshot i bet its more racing sound than mt07, screams and doesnt grunt
Nice! Let me know how you like it. You can never go wrong with getting any Japanese bike.
@@allinoneshot does it feel like seat is vibrating a little bit in high revs?
@@drozdforce8853 yes it does, but the whole bike is a bit buzzy after 8000 rpm.
I love my MT07 but I do hate the suspension. I don’t have much confidence on turns with it.
if you are heavier you can always upgrade the suspension.
Thanks
If I ever buy a street bike, this will be it. Probably wont ever, but this would be the one.
I had one but got rid of it. Great bike but wish it had more hp to push through the wind on the highway
Whats a good bike for going around a traffic ridden city like New York preferably the best gas mileage? Should you just get a scooter/ebike instead?
cb300r
Where in NY? In NYC I'd just have an e-bike because traffic is crazy but I hear they steal e-bikes like crazy in NYC. If you live in a more chill city in NY, the MT-07 is perfect.
@@CycleCruza manhattan new york city traffic is crazy man
Too Bad the front Forks are Pogo Sticks.
45 degrees I'm somewhat comfortable with layers and a heated jacket
Cyclecruiser, you’re the only one the country who considers an MT07 a cruiser 😂
You can cruise on anything. It's not a genre he's talking about, it's a THING he does.
My '23 can't take a slip on 😭
I have a 500 I rarely ever use my 6th gear anymore either. Unless I know going to be cruising 60+ for awhile
Yep

Damn, that bike sounds so good!!!! Love the 270 crank in these bikes.
Yeah this CP2 engine with an aftermarket exhaust is awesome, I can't stop rev bombing it like Harley dudes. 🤣
@@CycleCruza LMAO!!!!!! It's addictive man.
Personally as I'm a 6-2 individual, I found the GSX-8S just a bit larger fit, more roomy, and with the same engine quality and sound, you have another 20 horsepower and 10 foot-lbs, plus some tasty features like quick-shifter and a couple of things.
Dont like the 2 Cylinder sound
And need better front suspensión and ABS breaks
It looks like a small bike. Sometimes people buy bigger engine bikes is because the overall size of it. Don't want to look like Mario carts.
I love my fz07 so much. I have a cheap chinese exhaust tho. I think i got it from your cynneeeeseeee schoooootah 😂😂 . But honestly its great wouldnt give it up for anything. I love how the bike pulls.
When i rode a 23 MT07 it felt like a fat supermoto. It felt small and cramped to me. I will stick to my 22 XSR900.

I like the mt07 I just dont have a need for a naked bike.
Hey cyclecruza you think a 2006
YZ85LW would be good to do a super moto build?
Just messing around in the city? Sure. Don't get on the highway tho.
Alright thanks keep it up
Buying this my first bike yall joining the crew
It can be a bit much for a new rider but most people that start on one seems to do ok. The new 2025 MT-07 has power levels to help tone down the grunt for a new rider.
More comfortable than the MT09? What? (Asking as an MT07 owner)
My favorite Yamaha is 05 R1
how about the XSR 900 tho?? ha! gotcha!
It I am able to I will be getting a KLR650 for where I live is all the bike I need and we have a lot of dert roads
2025 MT-07 has SIGNIFICANT updates, in most of the weak spots it has had. Brakes and suspension is so much better.
By the way, there's no such thing as a "slip-on" for this machine. Factory system is all welded. Full system required.
Below 100? more like below 80!!! Thats why its such a stupid purchase for bikes like a Ducati streetfighter and BMW M1000 to exist
I regret buying Duke instead of MT 😞
I cant hear the bike over you
I thought it was like a mini bike. SOOO small. Don't like the 09 either. I'm a Suzuki and Ducati guy.
That's what I love about it, small compact and punchy. Some riders like land yacht bikes and that is cool if that is what they love. Everybody has their own preferences, there is a bike for everybody.
GSX-8S is physically like 15% larger. Looks more "right" for a 6 foot dude or larger.
I dont even ride on the street anymore!! its boring. I get bored too fast if i cant constantly go over 100. Plus too much trash to worry about on the streets. Rocks potholes debri stones wood nails cars stray dogs deer
It's the best bike ever, im not biased or anything...obviously.
It's more of a Roadster imo
❤ my ninja 400
Yamaha Davidson 🤣
Torakusu Yamaha in 1887 didn't have an additional surname.

If I see one more MT-07 video on youtube I think im gonna throw up.
Grab the bucket.
Anyway, motorcycles are awesome.
Jaded journalists who'd been spoiled on the cream of the crop for decades gushed all over the MT-07 when it first hit in 2014. Why? Test one and find out for yourself, with AN OPEN MIND.
@@exothermal.sprocket I only ride real sportbikes, sorry.
The Yamaha Mt 07 will go down as one of the greatest naked bikes of all time
