I chose a James Allen lab grown engagement ring and could not be happier! Guys , if your fiancé demands a way more expensive mined diamond .. you might want to reconsider your upcoming wedding.
The lab grown diamond shines so much better than the natural to my eye. Comparing an H to F isn’t a fair comparison but the I can see some yellow in the H diamond and it’s also cloudy compared to the F diamond. I would pick and say that the F color diamond is far better each time.
I also see the yellow tint in the H but I see no cloudiness at all. Both rings have the same Clarity grading and to my eyes both were very clean. And since H is second in the near Colorless scale I was surprised to see the yellow tint and I don't think I've ever seen an H with that kind of yellow before. I'm assuming probably because it was next to an F so I agree with that this was not a fair comparison. How can an H compare to a colorless diamond.
That's nonsense.... with the naked eye, nor with a loupe no one can see the difference between a mined diamond or a lab grown diamond. They have identical chemical properties.... only a very expensive machine can see the difference because one reacts a little bit different than the other..... but as for shine and colour.... you see differences in cut with these two diamonds in this video.... that probably explain a visual difference... if you go to jeweler and they can't see who produced which diamond, they won't be able to see the difference between a mined diamond or a lab grown diamond....
Great Video! Another plus with buying a lab diamond with James Allen is they don’t enhance the color or clarity like some other companies so the won’t slip in color over time or have fissures filled in causing them to possibly crack. De Beers is gearing up to make lab diamonds. People are realizing that lab diamonds are REAL diamonds with the same physical, optical and chemical qualities of a natural. Jewelers can’t tell them apart unless they look up the serial number.
That's not entirely true. A jeweler with a gemological background can spot the difference. But yeah the majority of the jewelers can't without a good loup and the serial number. With that said, I wouldn't classify them as real. One is formed over the course of millions of years by nature while the other is made in weeks by men. You might not be able to spot the differences, but psychologically there's a big difference. Millions of years versus weeks. Nature versus Men. But to each his own I guess. A similar example is counterfeiting art. There was this guy in the Netherlands who was soo skilled at counterfeiting paintings from among others Van Gogh that even the high paid experts couldn't tell the difference, not even with loupes and carbon dating. The guy was that good! But it doesn't make them real....

@@stevencampbell4315 Well not so much. A real and fake Rolex have different build qualities, one is excellent, one is garbage. Both real, and lab diamonds are identical when it comes to quality. Personally I can afford both and I’m currently shopping a ring. But, the fact that some little child could possibly have mined the real diamond, which I don’t support, pushes me towards the lab diamond. And let’s be realistic, these blood diamonds are still finding their way into the system, it still happens.

Yes, who resells a diamond? My mom sold my dads 2 carat ring he bought her that now has a market value of $29,300. It could have been a family heirloom and my dad passed away when I was a kid. But she sold it for 2k without telling anyone…never thought of her daughter.

Because of the super idea cut and high clarity, it has the blue hued ice cold look.it not only sparkles like crazy, it forms the sphere shape in your sight, you can hardly tell it has a flat top. I will say go for it. Brilliant Earth has the cheapest and the biggest selection online. You can return it in 30 days if you don’t like it. Make sure you don’t wear it if you want to return it. Go with the highest 4Cs you can afford. Wearing these high 4C diamond will make the girl happy for a very long time. You won’t be disappointed.
Both have a Clarity of vs2 but the natural diamond is an H in color and the lab-grown is an F in color so clearly you cannot compare these two as far as color it is not a fair comparison to be honest.
This was a good video; it's easy to see the color difference when the diamonds are side by side. It would be harder to distinguish if the diamonds were not close to each other. The lab diamond also appears to be brighter; I thought the natural/mined diamond had a cloud inclusion. Both rings are lovely. In this case, I'd choose the lab-grown over he mined.
My daughter was trying on rings recently the moissanite lab grown threw too much colour you could see they were fake.. so I advised she go for a real diamond.. her partner was already going to buy her a real diamond as he’s not a fan of the fake/lab/man made.. the lab grown in your video throws too much colour looks like something from a $2 shop..
@@Jenb0854 a moissanite, lab diamond and natural diamond are 3 different things. Your daughter was looking at a moissanite which is the “cheapest” of the 3. Not a lab diamond or mined diamond and as you rightly said, the moissanite has more colours showing as it is true with a moissanite, because it is a Moissanite, not a diamond, not a lab diamond. I can see why you would be confused because yes a moissanite is made in the lab and so is A Lab diamond BUT a lab diamond much of a real diamond as a mined diamond as far as chemicals and make-up is concerned. A moissanite is not by any consideration a diamond.
In sunlight genuine diamonds have a blue fluorescence lab grown stones don't. but there's a catch some of the rarest diamonds don't have the blue fluorescence. but still most diamonds do
You realize they are both real diamonds, one is created in nature with one created in a lab? IMO the natural diamond I cloudy and I see yellow in it, the lab grown has much better clarity, whiter and sparkles so much better.
I rather the lab it’s less pricey which mean I can get a bigger diamond for a little less. My main thing I am looking for is as long as it last for a very long time and not fade easily.
as soon as you said the natural diamond if your wife's, I already knew which one it is but that's because I see the signs of usage on the band vs the brand new band.
the natural diamonds has more imperfections in it than the lab grown. I looked more closely at the patterens shown within the diamonds. the lab diamond looks clearer and the patterns are more symmetrical and visually clear compared the the natural diamond which is less clear and more asymmetrical.
Actually you could have gotten a 2 ct lab for what you paid for the natural for a round diamond. An Oval on the other hand at a 2 ct lab is around $4500., this I know because my nephew just bought a 2ct lab oval for his fiance E, VVS2 which is a great price. As far as color an H diamond is fine but when side by side with an F you can definitely see a difference or everyone would buy an H :). You also have to remember that a round diamond hides color very well. If both rings were an oval or cushion etc you would see a much warmer color in the H when compared with a G+ diamond. Both rings are beautiful though.
Too Long, but may help some folks with 'Lab' or 'Earth'. The following is about Earth diamonds, but the thought process may help... Many years ago, I fell in love with what was (is) called a Square Emerald Cut, or 'Asscher' Cut. That cut was different than your typical Princess/Round Brilliant/etc. Researching the Square cut led me to the reason for that Square 'look', the Royal Asscher. However, big price difference! Was it worth it? Both Earth diamonds, one being the 'true' Royal Asscher Cut, the other, the 'imitation', the Square Emerald 'Asscher' cut. There was no way telling between the two over the internet, so fortunately, I found a jeweler that had two Royal Asschers and a couple Square Emerald cut stones on hand. Once the relationship was established between the jeweler and I, they were willing to ship me the one Royal Asscher that I was considering, and I've of the Square Emeralds. Both were similar in size and color. As soon as I unpackaged the stones, I could instantly tell which one was the Royal. While the Square sparkled, the Royal sparkled but also appeared to be 'glistening wet'. At that time, 16 years ago, The Royal Asscher family had their 'cut' trademarked, as not to be able to be copied by anyone else, or so I read and beloved. Regardless, there was a very distinct difference between those two stones, and of course I preferred the glistening wet stone. I had never seen anything like it before. So what did it come down to? The cost. I bought one of them. Fast forward, our anniversary is coming soon, and although she doesn't know, and doesn't expect, I want to get her another stone. However, what brought me to this video was, obviously, this time do I go earth again or lab? Using the true example I wrote above, Royal vs Square, to me, unless my wife expressly said I want an earth diamond, I believe I'm going to get a lab diamond. Why? Well, other than the folks here who seem to be able to tell over an internet video which is which, I'm going to go with my research that tends to show that it would take gemologists to be able to compare the two. Unlike the instant identification between the Royal and the Square cut that I witnessed, there is no visual difference between earth and lab. Matter of fact, I'm sure that most of you who might be reading this, have come to the same conclusion that I have, which is since the ingredients are the same whether lab or earth, even gemologists under a scope would have a difficult time telling which was which. I'll be going with lab this time, but that's because I know that if I asked my wife, she would not want me to spend the money regardless however, definitely would not care if it was Earth or Lab. It's not a fake stone, it is a real stone, the only difference being the questioning of how it is sourced. Same ingredients, same results, and let's add to the fact that we can assume that with the earth diamonds, there's probably young children, or possibly people who live in poverty gathering these stones to bring to market. So first off, go with your heart and save your pocket but quite a lot. Unless you bring it up to the girl you want to give the ring to, but that definitely blows the surprise. One more thing (said this was long), my opinion comes from a man who has already sprung for the Earth diamond at marriage, and I don't recall anything about Lab diamond competition back then. The only thing that I can recall as I write this was there were stones that were called 'simulated'. With time, the 'simulated' or 'Lab' technology seems to have made everything on equal ground now. So, the journey begins for the anniversary stone. One thing would help, you can't compare the two in a trusted brick and mortar, hopefully we can find a trusted online source that would ship us stones to compare. Good luck!

my point is you could 100% buy glass or quartz since it has teh same aestethic value. i know they get scractched easier but you can replace them infinite times with the same money

I'm having a hard time deciding whether I want to go with earth diamond or lab grown at James Allen. Which would you go with between these? Earth diamond with H color IF clarity and 3X Excellent at 1.03 carat for $7660 vs lab with D color IF clarity 3X Excellent at 1.25 carat for $6220 on a rose gold setting? I heard JA is reputable for both their lab and conflict free earth as well..it seems like a no brainer to go with lab. But if JA is offering a 25% discount for first time purchase, would it make more sense to go with earth?
IF at 1 ct is a waste in my book. Go bigger with a natural vs1-vs2 you won't be able to see any occlusions in a vs and you'll get way more stone and a better color for the same money

If you try to sell lab-grown diamonds to a jewelry store, a pawn shop or on EBay, you’ll get pennies on the dollar for it. Regardless, due to massive profit percentages and deceiving tactics of price comparisons to a real diamond value, it becomes easier to convince some uninformed buyers shopping for engagement rings or jewelry pieces to lead them choose a lab grown over a natural diamond. Often many jewelers indirectly encourage their clients by comparing prices with “real natural diamonds” but not disclosing the real resale value and more important long term investment factor of this emotional purchase. Its a time bomb waiting to explode!

The chemical composition is the same. Depending on the quality of the lab grown stone, it would require a geological lab to discern it from a mined diamond. Yes. All graded diamonds are laser engraved with some identifying info, whether they are lab or earth. But I know what you’re really asking is if you can see it: No, there is zero chance you can see the engraving, let alone read it, without 40x magnification.
0 eye differance. Only real.differqnce is natural diamond has trace of nitrogen within it and lab grown don't. Lab grown is technically the more pure product. I'm prety thankfully of the lab diamonds as natural are far to expensive for my income.

Go with a Natural diamond. Lab grown diamonds have become so cheap to make that there price and value are dropping to pennies. If you choose a lab grown diamond I highly suggest you wait as the prices continue to go down.

Six prong bugs me too. It's like it's trying to crash a party where it doesn't fit in. It also artificially makes the diamond look slightly bigger.

This was a good video; it's easy to see the color difference when the diamonds are side by side. It would be harder to distinguish if the diamonds were not close to each other. The lab diamond also appears to be brighter; I thought the natural/mined diamond had a cloud inclusion. Both rings are lovely. In this case, I'd choose the lab-grown over he mined.
My daughter was trying on rings recently the moissanite lab grown threw too much colour you could see they were fake.. so I advised she go for a real diamond..
her partner was already going to buy her a real diamond as he’s not a fan of the fake/lab/man made.. the lab grown in your video throws too much colour looks like something from a $2 shop..

@@Jenb0854 a moissanite, lab diamond and natural diamond are 3 different things. Your daughter was looking at a moissanite which is the “cheapest” of the 3. Not a lab diamond or mined diamond and as you rightly said, the moissanite has more colours showing as it is true with a moissanite, because it is a Moissanite, not a diamond, not a lab diamond. I can see why you would be confused because yes a moissanite is made in the lab and so is A Lab diamond BUT a lab diamond much of a real diamond as a mined diamond as far as chemicals and make-up is concerned. A moissanite is not by any consideration a diamond.

You realize they are both real diamonds, one is created in nature with one created in a lab? IMO the natural diamond I cloudy and I see yellow in it, the lab grown has much better clarity, whiter and sparkles so much better.
I rather the lab it’s less pricey which mean I can get a bigger diamond for a little less. My main thing I am looking for is as long as it last for a very long time and not fade easily.

the natural diamonds has more imperfections in it than the lab grown. I looked more closely at the patterens shown within the diamonds. the lab diamond looks clearer and the patterns are more symmetrical and visually clear compared the the natural diamond which is less clear and more asymmetrical.

Actually you could have gotten a 2 ct lab for what you paid for the natural for a round diamond. An Oval on the other hand at a 2 ct lab is around $4500., this I know because my nephew just bought a 2ct lab oval for his fiance E, VVS2 which is a great price. As far as color an H diamond is fine but when side by side with an F you can definitely see a difference or everyone would buy an H :). You also have to remember that a round diamond hides color very well. If both rings were an oval or cushion etc you would see a much warmer color in the H when compared with a G+ diamond. Both rings are beautiful though.

The following is about Earth diamonds, but the thought process may help...
Many years ago, I fell in love with what was (is) called a Square Emerald Cut, or 'Asscher' Cut. That cut was different than your typical Princess/Round Brilliant/etc.
Researching the Square cut led me to the reason for that Square 'look',
the Royal Asscher. However, big price difference!
Was it worth it? Both Earth diamonds, one being the 'true' Royal Asscher Cut, the other, the 'imitation', the Square Emerald 'Asscher' cut.
There was no way telling between the two over the internet, so fortunately, I found a jeweler that had two Royal Asschers and a couple Square Emerald cut stones on hand.
Once the relationship was established between the jeweler and I, they were willing to ship me the one Royal Asscher that I was considering, and I've of the Square Emeralds. Both were similar in size and color.
As soon as I unpackaged the stones, I could instantly tell which one was the Royal. While the Square sparkled, the Royal sparkled but also appeared to be 'glistening wet'. At that time, 16 years ago, The Royal Asscher family had their 'cut' trademarked, as not to be able to be copied by anyone else, or so I read and beloved. Regardless, there was a very distinct difference between those two stones, and of course I preferred the glistening wet stone. I had never seen anything like it before. So what did it come down to? The cost. I bought one of them.
Fast forward, our anniversary is coming soon, and although she doesn't know, and doesn't expect, I want to get her another stone. However, what brought me to this video was, obviously, this time do I go earth again or lab?
Using the true example I wrote above, Royal vs Square, to me, unless my wife expressly said I want an earth diamond, I believe I'm going to get a lab diamond. Why? Well, other than the folks here who seem to be able to tell over an internet video which is which, I'm going to go with my research that tends to show that it would take gemologists to be able to compare the two. Unlike the instant identification between the Royal and the Square cut that I witnessed, there is no visual difference between earth and lab. Matter of fact, I'm sure that most of you who might be reading this, have come to the same conclusion that I have, which is since the ingredients are the same whether lab or earth, even gemologists under a scope would have a difficult time telling which was which.
I'll be going with lab this time, but that's because I know that if I asked my wife, she would not want me to spend the money regardless however, definitely would not care if it was Earth or Lab. It's not a fake stone, it is a real stone, the only difference being the questioning of how it is sourced. Same ingredients, same results, and let's add to the fact that we can assume that with the earth diamonds, there's probably young children, or possibly people who live in poverty gathering these stones to bring to market. So first off, go with your heart and save your pocket but quite a lot. Unless you bring it up to the girl you want to give the ring to, but that definitely blows the surprise.
One more thing (said this was long), my opinion comes from a man who has already sprung for the Earth diamond at marriage, and I don't recall anything about Lab diamond competition back then. The only thing that I can recall as I write this was there were stones that were called 'simulated'. With time, the 'simulated' or 'Lab' technology seems to have made everything on equal ground now.
So, the journey begins for the anniversary stone. One thing would help, you can't compare the two in a trusted brick and mortar, hopefully we can find a trusted online source that would ship us stones to compare.

Go bigger with a natural vs1-vs2 you won't be able to see any occlusions in a vs and you'll get way more stone and a better color for the same money

Lab-grown diamonds have no resale value, meaning no jeweler will buy it back. If you try to sell lab-grown diamonds to a jewelry store, a pawn shop or on EBay, you’ll get pennies on the dollar for it.
Regardless, due to massive profit percentages and deceiving tactics of price comparisons to a real
diamond value, it becomes easier to convince some uninformed buyers shopping for engagement rings or jewelry pieces to lead them choose a lab grown over a natural diamond. Often many jewelers indirectly encourage their clients by comparing prices with “real natural diamonds” but not disclosing the real resale value and more important long term investment factor of this emotional purchase.

The chemical composition is the same. Depending on the quality of the lab grown stone, it would require a geological lab to discern it from a mined diamond. Lab grown diamonds can be insured for the price you paid, just like a mined diamond. You should research the resale value of used diamond jewelry.

I think Diamonique is cubic zirconia. Not the same properties as a lab Diamond. Not the same quality.

Yes. All graded diamonds are laser engraved with some identifying info, whether they are lab or earth. But I know what you’re really asking is if you can see it: No, there is zero chance you can see the engraving, let alone read it, without 40x magnification.

Go with a Natural diamond. Lab grown diamonds have become so cheap to make that there price and value are dropping to pennies. If you choose a lab grown diamond I highly suggest you wait as the prices continue to go down.
