    Coenzyme Q10 (CoQ10) is a substance that is naturally present in the human body, with the highest levels in the heart, liver, kidneys, and pancreas. It is sold in the United States as a dietary supplement.

    Because CoQ10 has important functions in the body and because people with some diseases have reduced levels of this substance, researchers have been interested in finding out whether CoQ10 supplements might have health benefits.
    In this video, I highlight 7 of those benefits and some foods high in COQ10.

    BEST explanation of benefits of Coq10 I've heard. Been taking Coq10 for years and I encourage ANYONE over 50 to take it. Of course if they have any heart issues they should speak to they're doctors first. The only thing not stressed in this video is skin cell benefit. ALL (that I k ow of) internal organs are skin.

    I'm a 73 y.o. Australian male who had a serious heart attack in 2009 (aged 60) which resulted in 20% damage to the heart. I was told by doctors that it was permanent as the "heart doesn't heal itself". A local pharmacist advised me otherwise, that the heart DID in fact heal itself, although very slowly at around 2% per year. He further advised me to take CoQ10 ( CoEnzymeQ10) as it encouraged muscle repair. After I investigated his claims I saw no problem in following his advice and have done so ever since. Annual check ups since that time always indicated some heart damage until around 2017, and ever since, NO DAMAGE was is in evidence. I've kept up the CoQ10, always ensuring I take it a.m. as it also seems to add energy to my body that inhibits sleep if taken at night. My experience with this enzyme fully supports its use, particularly in people over 50 y.o.

      My understanding is that the bodily production of CoQ10 is normally sufficient. But as we age this is reduced. At 26 I would be surprised that you could have a deficiency, unless you have a poor diet (high carb/sugar).
      As an aside Ubiquinol is cited as the preferred form of CoQ10 supplement.

    There are 2 types of CoQ10, ubiquinol and ubiquinone. Ubiquinol is definitely the form you should take, as it is the 'reduced' form, ready to be absorbed, and does not require conversion in the body. The conversion of ubiquinone into ubiquinol is inefficient and results in much lower absorption. ALL ubiquinol supplements have a trademarked active ingredient by the Japanese company Kaneka, which will always be shown on the label. If you don't see the "Kaneka" seal on the label, it's not ubiquinol.

      The problem with taking ubiquinol is this: ubiquinol (which is cream-colored) actually changes to ubiquinone (which is yellow-orange), if it's on the shelf for too long. So if you open a softgel of ubiquinol and it's yellow-orange in color, it's no longer ubiquinol, as it's changed to ubiquinone already. So why pay more for ubiquinol, if it's actually ubiquinone that you're getting?

      Hi. I just started on statins. I heard other of side effects of statins like hair loss , memory loss , erectile dysfunction etc. How do you counter the side effects ?

    • @stanleyyu2079
      @stanleyyu2079 11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Statins inhibit HMG-CoA reductase which is an enzyme in the upstream pathway of the biosynthesis of cholesterol, CoQ10, selenoproteins, vitamin K2. That is how statins stop the body from making new cholesterol plus the other 3 useful nutrients.
      Deficient in CoQ10 and selenoproteins will cause brain fog and muscle weakness including heart muscle.
      Deficient in vitamin K2 can cause calcium plaques in the arteries. People with high cholesterol should take coronary artery calcium (CAC) scan to assess the plaque blockage.
      Statin users should take Coq10 and vitamin K2 as supplement, however, there is no supplement for selenoproteins.

    Thank you, Kwaku! Great info and I especially appreciate the inclusion of natural sources of CoQ10. Btw, just curious, is there some compelling reason why most TH-cam Creators talk like they're on their way to a fire, nowadays? Is there some time limitation imposed by YT or something?

      @@HealthRX Thank you, Kwaku! I'm glad you took my comment in the spirit it was intended. Lol! I get it. I can't watch myself, either.
      I do think that people, in general, just speak faster than they did in the past. I find myself doing it, as well, though I really don't know why. In your case, it doesn't create a problem because you speak clearly. But I am amazed at how pervasive this trend has become.
      I appreciate the additional link. I will definitely check that out, as well. With all the contradictions and confusion around healthy nutrition, even from authoritative sources, the information you provide is very helpful. 😀
