I like to call the Roam Ending "Common Sense Ending" because deciding to just leave the haunted house and NOT risk going here for absolutely no real reason is probably the smartest move i have seen a horror movie/game character do, and seeing a streamer play it for the first time, get curious, and get said Roam Ending was so funny!
@@Maxime_Martyr Look, when i first saw the ending i didn't know that it implied the room looped (because i didn't understand the dialouge like an idiot) and i thought you just leave the place.
The first few deaths are even more sadistic if you know the context. Spoiler: That stinking, dark room at the start of the video? The stench is coming from a mound _of her corpses._ An eldritch abomination is forcing her to relive her experience in the house over and over and over again until she finally performs the ritual it wants her to do. Every time you fail, your body gets thrown on that pile. The 3rd death is her realizing that there's dozens of her own, mutilated bodies rotting in the corner... and she's about to join them.
This one was unfinished for so long... I think I originally played half of it in October of 2021 and kept intending to finish the game and this video but kept putting it off. And that's annoying because I enjoyed the game. Sometimes I get too easily distracted.
If you meant that you restarted the game right away then I had the same experience with Pocket Mirror which made me want to replay it as soon as I finished it. 😉
Creepy Spoiler: At the 22:51 mark, if you look closely, you can see that she's surrounded by half a dozen bodies from all the other times she "achieved" this ending.
I thought they were all the other self which her killer self already killed as she states at 14:51. Moreover, I think the one who returned home is actually the killer because she chose to sacrifice the killer's finger instead of her own even though the memo specified that "the person who is being sacrificed must chant the words" herself and therefore it is the killer's soul who got released as she is the one who got sacrificed which is why she is surprised and confused when she is suddenly back home as if nothing ever happened even though she was killed by her younger self.
It reminds me a bit of the 2009 Film "triangle". A woman and her friends gets trapped on a ship with an killer just to find out that the killer is a different version of the woman who is trapped in an time loop.
this was a game that blew my mind with the things someone could do with rpg maker and the possibilities it could lead to. I played hours of rpg horror games such as corpse party ao oni and tones more and it makes me sad to see the genre die down over the years -_-

Because there has been continuous playlists of videos dedicated to RPG Maker horror games on TH-cam. Did you play The Witch's House? Aria's Story? Pocket Mirror? Omori? Seven Mysteries? Eclipse? Les Yeux Sans Visage? Blank Dream? The Grand Mother? Story of an Unknown Girl? I played many other that I forgot the names precisely because I played too many of them to remember all of them and you claim that they have gone extinct over the years?! I acknowledge that if you don't know french language then you miss out many RPG Maker games as the french community is one of the most active and creative in the world and if you don't believe me then just search "RPG Maker FR" then click on "Oniromancie" which is the french RPG Maker community even if you don't know french, just click on "Jeux" and take a look at their collection of RPG Maker games of all kinds. 😉 But even if you can't play in french, did you look for RPG Maker games on Itch and Game Jolt which are the two biggest indie gaming communities featuring countless games? I discovered many games from browsing them, period. 😉
LONG COMMENT WARNING BUT I'M JUST INSANE ABOUT THIS GAME (AFFECTIONATELY) 🥺 This game's concept is genuinely out of a nightmare and the embodiment of complete and just... absolute hopelessness. The endless suffering and torture within the loops, and NO ending is good for the protagonist, Girl. She will either die at the hands of her other selves or the monster, completely alone, go insane and become desperate enough to go to the extremes to get out (or rot in a cell), roam endlessly through the mansion or, apparently, "get out" but with severe mental consequences. She was just... doomed the moment she set foot into the mansion, all because she wanted to prove her worth to others and become recognized by filming a haunted house video. Her naivety led her to become a victim of the mansion and it will keep happening over and over unless she performs the ritual the mansion wants her to do. Every time she fails to do so, she will absolutely die no matter what. I've always seen the "Divine" ending as her escaping the mansion, and eventually making a break in the loop, but it takes a toll on her mental health completely and her perception of the world has been shattered to bits, with hallucinations coming back to haunt her (or it could also be that, the moment she managed to escape, she let out the monster free to roam the world, and it'll only be a matter of time until it kills her). Worst case scenario (and also likely), she didn't escape the mansion, and is quite possibly still trapped in its illusions. Girl will never go anywhere, and until the day she draws her last breath, she will stay there. Beyond the cage she was trapped in and managed to get out of, lies endless cages that will keep her confined for all eternity. In none of these endings lies "true freedom" or "hope": just a foolish, broken and emotionally scarred Girl that will never see the light of day or the hope of a new tomorrow. Gosh, this is such a long comment but all and all, thank you for compiling all of these easter eggs and endings! This game is great and I enjoy revisiting it from time to time.

As for the divine ending, after all the times that you already replayed this game, did you still not understand that every time she performs the ritual then she summons the monster inside her and this is why she sees tentacles coming out of her hand in the end? So I presume, in the Epitaph ending, she hallucinates that she wakes up from a dream at home, but actually dies in the courtyard? Edit: Read on TVTropes that it’s because she slips and falls off of a cliff.

Does finding yourself have anything to do with the plot or is it just an easteregg? Does it do the same thing as a death? I presume dying just takes you back to the title screen?

The character commenting the path is off and being longer than when arriving or divine ending implies the girl gets looped on the path forever
I disagree with your reasoning because then it implies that common sense leads to get lost in endless roaming to go nowhere.

God I loved playing Cat in the Box. The endings threw me for a loop but it was all fun.
