  • The exact controller as mine can be purchased on Amazon, though I can not find it on ebay any more.
    There are many similar on eBay or Amazon though I haven’t tested any others. Ensure it is a 12v unit for both relay and power source. Some also come with a Thermistor which will work if yours isn’t. The Thermistor in mine was in the middle of the base, under the serial number sticker.

    Mate what a excellent idea as we know the only problem with Waecos are their electronics, this idea completely removes the problem cheers mate I’m definitely doing this

    Thanks man, I just fixed my fridge using this method! 👍🏻

    Thank you! I have a spare CFX 28 that has had something fail inside. Compressor runs and pulls down to 30 but I had it set to 0 deg f. Gonna yank all the guts out and use a aftermarket set up like you did . Thanks for sharing

    Just saw this video the day after I spent $100 on original Waeco parts. Will refer back next time though. Might even search for a broken fridge on marketplace.

      That’s a shame! Could have fixed 5 for the price of that one part.

    My waeco has decided to give up today. Are you able to do a list of what's needed and a video on how to do it step by step

    • @ShedintheValley

      It’s fairly straightforward. 4 wires and that’s about all it needs. I will though make a detailed step by step if I get another fridge to sort out.

    This is brilliant can you do a replacement thermostat on a CB40 too?

      I’m not too sure sorry mate. Would need to pull it down and have a look at the controller

    Nice work. I'll be doing this if mine ever fails.
    Do you know if its possible to lock the original keypad on this model so the buttons can't be accidentally pressed?

      @ShedintheValley  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Sorry I’m not sure Pat. No issues with the aftermarket controller. The buttons take a bit of force to change. Mind you, mines been set and forget.

    Can you still run it on 240v with this fix? Great video. Many thanks.

      Unfortunately no, however I run a 240v to 12v transformer. Something like this. www.jaycar.com.au/12vdc-7-5a-switchmode-power-supply-mains-to-cigarette-lighter-socket/p/MP3575
      There are also cheaper alternatives.

    Hi, this is extremely helpful, thank you. Can you please reply with a pointer on a compatible controller. I don't know how to start looking for one.

      @ShedintheValley  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Hi Lee, try something like the STC-100A. Just make sure it’s the 12v model.

      @@ShedintheValley Thanks! Now I see there are many 12v DC temp controllers with relay. What a deal they are only $10-$20. I have one on order that looks pretty good. I am looking forward to getting into the repair and my Waeco cf-50 back on the road. I bought in 2003 and this is the first time it's ever broken.

      @@leefitzgerald5601 perfect. These earlier ones have the DanFoss compressor in them. They are great.

      @@ShedintheValley I purchased mine in 2003. So long ago and it never failed until August 2021. If this repair fixes the problem, it will almost be better than new!

    Thanks heaps for this video mate, it was really helpful. My compressor controller was a slightly different model and I've mounted the controller slightly differently but used your ideas for it... th-cam.com/video/FxzA38xj6ec/w-d-xo.html
    Much appreciated, Matt

    All that so called rubbish you pulled out .. the filter board and 5volt supply to the control panel .. the control panel that drives the variable speed compressor .. then you thought you were going to remove the 1N compressor controller as well ? 😂😂 i bet that wouldn't have ended well !
    So you pulled out the tech to install a cheap chinese piece of crap .. lost the variable speed and didnt bother to repkace the temo sensor with a waterproof one ? 😂
    Dude your advice is completely flawed... use a good quality IR33 controller .. set up for 2 speed with water proof sensor .. that is the only way

      Hey Richard, thanks for the kind words mate. I sure did pull it all out. Seeing as most of these end up in land fill when they die, I’m happy that mine and likely 100s more kept going with some “cheap chinese piece of crap”.
      Sounds like you’re a pro, so you do you mate and enjoy your non China expensive fix. 👌
      Over 2 years on, mines still running strong 💪. Beers were ice cold today for Christmas.
      Merry Christmas 🎄
