    Fred also helped worked on the Piper Cherokee. I've owned a real ercoupe and they are an absolute blast. Just about like a Bi-Plane in that it's almost an open cockpit airplane when you want. Just slide the side windows down and hang your elbows out on a nice warm day. The view is great. It's light on the controls without being touchy and is very easy to fly. It cruises faster than most of its two seat contemporaries of its day on the same HP. It's also very easy to Handel in gusty crosswinds and will easily land when other 4 & 6 seat airplanes are fighting to get down safe & sound. Just about the most Romantic two seat airplane ever made. I have so many fond memories of mine it makes me want another. As I've said before come on over for a visit and we'll take the Tri-pacer up for a ride too

    Interesting historical aircraft, but I feel that at this price point it won't get many sales. At this point for a developer to ask for $20.00 they need to provide an aircraft that has all the immersion bells and whistles nailed, and have good ( but not study level ) accuracy. That means fully animated doors, and windows - complete with proper audio changes for opening the windows.. cockpit audio for switches, and stress creaking, multiple Nav/com options and the option for persistent aircraft states.
    I hate to say it but this is basically a $9.99 product as it stands.. and that's not even including any evaluation of the flight model.

    I'm getting a little tired of devs releasing half-baked planes. I'm fine with post-release tweaks, as you can never really test an aircraft 100% until it's in the wild, but just chucking things out before they're ready seems to have become more of a thing recently. I agree it seems nice from inside, but 1 livery works, there's no wind noise and it's not scaled correctly. It feels to me that it's escalated and become more acceptable since the Twin Otter v.1 released with it's awful sounds. But then if Cpt. SIM can release a plane that you literally cannot fly other than externally, I guess anything goes now.

    This is an improvement but there is still a ways to go. First is the way the plane is not level on the ground. The plane is designed to have the window sill level with the ground and not with the nose wheel in the air like that. The nose strut does hang down lower when airborne, but not on the runway as shown. The panel is completely out of left field. The original had a glove compartment on the passenger side and there are no arm rests on either side of the cockpit. There are other minor problems such as that iPad holder is mounted low enough to castrate a guy in flight and cause a crash. The plane was brought out in 1937 and most were built in 1946 a few were built clear into the 1970s by a variety of manufacturers in clouding Forney, Alon, and even Piper and Mooney each had a go at trying to improve it. Originally they had fabric wings but later an all metal wing was retrofitted if desired. Many were built without any rudder pedals which it was designed to dispense with, but were an option for those chaps who were pig headed about that. The horse power was increased from 75 to 85 and even 90p and 100 later on. All in all a very satisfying and simple design that has endured for some 70 years and there are still hundreds of them flying around happily and parts are still made by the Univaire Corp in Colorado Springs. No one expects these computer sims to be absolutely spot on, and I certainly don't care one way or another. I love mine.

    Just watched this. A few points, in the real aircraft, you steer on the ground with the yoke. For those wanting the realism in the simulator you must check auto rudder. Having restored several of these fun little airplanes, there are a few discrepancies. Most are simple and not that important. Many, many different variants were made over the years. Find 5 Ercoupe's and not one will have a panel that looks like another. The geometry aft of the trailing edge concerning the fuselage is incorrect. It is more round all the way back to the tail cone which looks great on this model. The windshield and the aft canopy are at the same height. Not slopped from windshield back to the aft canopy.
    For flying characteristics. The 65-75 horse power aircraft burn 4-6 gallons per hour. The 85-95 horse power used a bit more. It utilizes two, 9 gallon wing tanks and a 6 gallon header tank just behind the instrument panel below the windshield. The engine driven fuel pump, pumps fuel from the wing tanks to the header tank. Ingenious design actually. Should the engine driven fuel pump fail, you have a gravity fed, 6 gallon fuel reserve. Flight characteristics are, well, boring. I equate flying the Ercoupe to that of driving the classic VW Beetle. Fun, but not dramatic. When flying one in Fairbanks Alaska, I used to take other pilots for a "ride". 1000ft in the air, 1/4 mile from the end of the runway, I would pull the throttle out, add carburetor heat and apply full back elevator. No, the aircraft would not stall, therefore not spin. But boy, did she drop like a rock. As the runway quickly rose to meet the aircraft, a blip of the throttle would arrest the descent and a beautiful 40mph touchdown was achieved. Just like Mr. William Leadbetter said, slide the windows down, and you have an open air cockpit. Soooooo, much fun. Just don't have anything loose in the cockpit. A cell phone is quite susceptible to exiting quickly upon encountering turbulence, as a friend and I found out as we watched his exit and descend until out of sight.

  • @ThomasGrillo
    @ThomasGrillo ปีที่แล้ว

    Just tried this plane, and was sorely disappointed when I discovered you can't ground steer with just the yoke, and the rudders are connected to the rudder pedals, and not the yoke. Maybe they'll fix that next year. Even my latest copy of this is badly flawed. Now, you can't even open the canopy, and it still wants to float all the way down the runway, even at 30, or 40 knots. LOL. Still, it's a nice looking model. Hard to believe this plane was first designed in the late 1930s, and you could purchase it right from the Sears catalogue. Thanks for the review.

    Nope. ;) At this point there is great GA aircraft that for this price it just doesn't fly. Ultimately... and at least for ME (I have 175 aircraft in the hangar), there is no shortage of stuff to fly. So no... when JustFlight releases something or Milviz or SimWorks or Big Radials? Worth it, cause they have CHARACTER. THIS here is very sterile, it's like it's devoid of any kind of heart. Same with the Debonair and V-Tail Bonanza (those I own)... Nothing BRSim has put out made me want to fly it beyond just a test flight. And maybe a re-visitation when there are updates. Cheers and thanks for your great work. You are an inspiration for my own channel.

    When you jammed the rudder pedals towards the end, were you also actuating the yoke? Or was that the model? It seems likely that since they can't get rid of the rudder controls they might've simply bound them to the yoke bidirectionally?

    First, great video, as always, Angel.
    Second, sorry I'm leaving a long and apropos of nothing comment. I just really wanted to share.
    So I fly on the Xbox Series X and the peripheral options are very limited. Me and my step-son are flying around the world in Diamond DA62's. I wanted a left hand stick, right hand throttle arrangement which, of course, doesn't exist yet. I ended up getting the Thrustmaster T-Flight full set with peddles. Happily, I discovered that the stick is quite comfortable in the left hand and I can reach the hat and all but one of the buttons. I put the throttle on my right, reversed the axis and turned it around backwards. Also, I disabled the rocker thingy and all of the buttons I might bump into on the throttle. Plus I'm 3D printing a new internal part to add resistance to the throttle and do away with the 50% detent.
    Mouse and keyboard to my right and happiness is mine.
