Another reason why the marketplace should have a "test drive" feature where you can test out the content for a certain period of time.

I agree, however, this plane is not aviable in the marketplace for the moment, just via third party platforms (which do not have a "test" feature as well).
Think how many sales would be lost if you could preview before you buy. Why channels like AvAngel's is so important.
Like DCS has now. Really amazing feature.
I think the criticism is fair, especially since the Ju-52 just came out for half the price.

Im passing on this one, i just don’t want it anymore, feels like we’re getting a lot of overpriced add ons in beta stages lately... with the popularity of fs2020 and the potential market it brings the tactics of some of these companies surprise me, id prize this plane at 5 bucks along with the ju 52, and although the pmdg dc6 i on the expensive side it is still worth it, these companies should start putting the work in or prize their products accordingly!
Good comment Groggy. Yup I agree. I feel that many companies are just cashing in ! with below par products on the Marketplace. Correct, they need to start putting in the work to produce something of quality representative of this latest iteration of Microsoft Flight Simulator 2020. As for the PMDG DC-6 ?, yes it is very expensive but you do get a quality aircraft, and therein lies the difference!. Well done PMDG !.
Thanks AvAngel, you've saved me money once again! Aeroplane Heaven is trying so hard to position themselves in the premium segment, but sadly they belong in the affordable $10-$15 category.
Happy checked the review, think I'll wait before rushing to buy. DC-6 is my reference, hard to beat.

Aeroplane Heaven will make themselves a joke in the market if they don’t start fixing these issues. This is two strikes against them now. I wish I’d waited for your review. I regret buying it. I now am terribly sad that they are developing a DC-3 for MSFS but I am looking forward to Wing42’s Boeing 247
They will refund it, thankfully. I'm one of many, many people who have successfully refunded this.

Thanks Eric :) I do what i wanted to see when I was buying stuff and honestly didn't have tons of money... it was tough to choose and there werent many reviews, so I set out to make honest, open, actual information.
Really appreciate your honesty AvAngel. A lot of people gloss over things like FSX ports, which is not acceptable for MSFS payware. We deserve better! I haven't bought the JU-52 but from what I've seen, it's encouraging to see Asobo developing high quality payware at least, from a 3d model perspective, I can't comment on the flight model and functionality.
I am also having concerns (palpitations) about the DC3/C47. Aeroplane Heaven seems to have dropped the ball as far as quality is concerned - a real pity because I have been a long time fan of this developer. I have been waiting for the DC3 like many other people who love this old plane (and I have a real-world association with it) but I will be extremely disappointed if it doesn't match previous standards at the very least. In any business the product is your company face ... so Aeroplane Heaven, let's not get egg on it, eh?

Thanks so much for this review. I agree with all your comments and will pass on this one. One interesting aside; I live about 12 minutes from ORS and took all the photographs ORBX used in their FSX version of this airport. I flew over ORS recently on a short late afternoon flight from FHR to BLI where I'm based. It's fun to see reviewers feature airports I worked with ORBX on. Concrete (3W5) is a fantastic small field to fly out of.

Thank you Volker :) I try to be as objective as possible and grade aircraft based on the experience quality and feel on top of the usual looks, handling and realism because at the end of the day, we're spending our money, and we deserve to have frank honest but fair information, just like Dev's don't deserve to be shit on either by the plethora of shock jock youtubers who call names.
Thank you for yet another thorough review. I "never" buy a plane without watching reviews first and normally not without watching *your* review first. For this one, I got too caught up in a buying frenzy. I got the Junkers, Husky, P-38L, and Electra all within 24 hours. I'm not sure why I felt the need to get the Electra without waiting for your review. The sad thing, to me, is that my first impression of a developer can lead to me either buying or not buying their aircraft in the future. For instance, I got the P-38L because Flying Iron's Spitfire was my first experience with them...and the P38-L has not disappointed, with $32 seeming like a very good price. The Junkers I got despite your so-so review because I feel I know what to expect from Asobo and the price was right (and I think it is FANTASTIC for the price!). My first experience with PMDG, the DC-6, leads me to want whatever they come out with next, almost regardless of the price. And now I've had my first experience with Aeroplane Heaven. At this point, this will be my last Aeroplane Heaven airplane in MSFS unless all the reviews for some future one are glowing. It is sooo disappointing that they let those texture glitches get through, that they claim they can't make a locking tail wheel, that no windows or hatches in the cockpit open, that the sound does not change volume, and that the engine sound level inside the cockpit is unusable. Have you tried using ATC? You literally cannot hear it over the engine sounds. I have no doubt that this could have been a loud plane but what am I to do when I can't hear the radio? Most disappointing of all, to me, is that they already knew this was a (valid) criticism of a past MSFS plane and yet they did it again.
The 38 is awesome, the Junkers is actually not bad overall, I'm happy with the purchase, this... i was a little disapointed. The Husky I fly more than anything!

fair review. Their offering of the DC-3 in P3D was a bit of a laugh systems wise. I hoped they would release the DC-3 in a better state in MSFS, but if we are seeing offerings like this - then the DC-3 for MSFS is probably not going to be worth it..... :(
I'll be looking at the Wings42 Electra for MSFS in development. Wings42 did the Vega for P3Dv5 and its a stunner. He's doing the Electra at the moment at a very high standard!

I don't know why but I find it funny that feathering the propeller is done by pushing a giant red PROP FEATHER button.
It's llike that in most aircraft for speed in emergencies, ironically that doesn't work in this... you have to pull the props back

good review, I think it is a rip off paying that price for FSX port and jumped in the air like a Cessna on take off
They are pretty small, so its not THAT unrealistic handling wise.
All these vintage planes were designed to jump on take off. Because the designers were concerned about the short runways of that period. And not concerned with top speeds nor petrol usage. So they made them with very thick wings which gave a lot more lift. The modern thin wings are for better cruising speeds and fuel savings.

Regarding the AH Electra 10 A who also noticed the vertical line in the left windows. AH answer is "The Electra has two panes of glass in the sides. The "line"is actually the joint between the fixed portion and the opening sliding window. We have now modeled the sliding part in the forthcoming upgrade."
ah, well its not that... clean :D looks more like a broken edge than a deliberate pane, but it will be nice that they're updating it somewhat.

Thank you for taking a bullet for us. It's a pity as the Electra is a historically significant plane and really deserves to have a top quality version in MSFS. Compared to the similarly priced P38L this doesn't appeal.

What is under your consideration the best model in terms of design textures etc.
So far the Milviz 310 and the 247 are two of the best... probably along with the JF Pipers.

Although the the L-10 is a gorgeous aircraft, I prefer the D-18 Loadstar as to be one of my favorite twin tail plance, you’ve pointed out several problems of giving $30. For it… sorry, need to keep try and keep the price reasonable. I’ll wait!

A very honest review - I agree with all the points you made. I will not be rushing to fly it again until the pitch and noise issues are resolved. Infact I feel like asking for my money back - I was expecting so much more than a barely visible bear under the back seat.
A lot of mod aircraft look great, but they often have looping engine sounds and flight characteristics of a Cessna or Piper despite being larger.
I wondered if FS2020 going to make some Zeppelins like Graf Zeppelin and Hindenburg in the future.
The R101 would be nice too.

I got this as soon as came out as been after this type of plane for a while (I own the fabulous BN2 and the G44A however they are very different flying experiences for me) as been after a passenger plane but one that is from pre WWII given most modern passenger planes are mostly pressing buttons not flying, so I thought even though expect a fair few bugs, AH tend to release with them, often saying that they expect them due to difficulty beta testing (which why they don't get some casual simmers to help to find things like the window tare, pilots view, sound of cabin and even the window I will never understand) , then a few days later we get a fix for most of it. The biggest thing for me though is the sounds. I just don't understand how AH keep messing it up, it may be personal but I think a LOT of people agree that the sound is a let down on their MSFS products in one form or another. I do think costs a bit to much however even with the bugs/problems currently I am happy with my purchase and will be flying this quite a bit I suspect.
I do really like the look of it too. I am not too bothered that we don't have modeled rivets all over, they are where matters. The cockpit looks beautiful and enjoyable to be in, the bobble head is a fun addition too!
I am yet to do a cold to dark as just wanted to try flying but I think I have another contender for my round the world trip now. I do just wish we got an E variant too as given mentioned Earhart in the bio on the sale page but to not actually get even a livery seems odd. I just hope the community fills that gap.
Honestly, those bugs i found shouldn't be hard to see... the view, the tear, and the sound are blatently obvious to any tester... if its tested.

Constructive criticism is always a good thing . Would love to own it, but not at the that price in that condition. May be they should have a pair of headphones hanging in the cockpit and if you click on them the volume drops and there us just the peg. click on the peg and the headphones re-appear and the volume goes up.

I am glad I watched this before buying, it is a hard no for me right now. If I was going to buy this aircraft I would want one configured EXACTLY how Amelia Earhart's Electra was configured.
I could see the high eye-level being believably realistic for some pilots on take-off and landing, because it gives you a better angle on the ground over the nose? Some pilots might sit up higher temporarily, I dunno. I’m reminded of how I often drive in games like GTA with the camera tilted slightly down as opposed to straight and level. But otherwise, it’s too high once you’re in the air.
hehe - I'm 6'4"... the default pilot position might just work for me!
I remarked a while ago that the default view is too low because I suddenly felt half a foot shorter than I really am in every plane (or cars when I'm car simming).
That being said, I have no particular attachment to this plane & wasn't never super enthused about it to start with, but can see why some people were really eager for it.

My first thought is Aeroplane Heaven should hire you to their QA (Quality Assurance) department. Clearly this was rushed out.

Updates yes, sounds slightly better, view still scuffed, between this and the pmdg dc6 I can wholeheartedly recommend the pmdg, fantastic addition

A modern aspect would be what PMDG did to the DC6. Also I think the Cabin door could be a SDK issue, because the DC6 also does not have it.
This is an initial release, and will have updates (like every other product now days) It's the same price as a large pizza and has much more replay value. Stop fussing over a fews bucks. Do you have any idea what it takes to make software like this? Even porting planes over is a huge PITA. I bought, I love it and look forward to updates.
Actually I do have an idea as I’ve built addon aircraft before, we never released freeware with some of the bugs that passed testing

I'm not sure if I'll be getting the Electra just yet. Perhaps after a few patches have been made it would be worth the asking price, but for now I think I'm going to wait. I do like the overall looks of it and the quality of the texturing as you mentioned in the review. I wish I would have watched your review on the Junkers before I purchased it, otherwise I probably would have waited on it as well. For the price I didn't think I could go too wrong, and I don't think I did; I'm really ok with it. I think it was at least worth the price. Nice review on the Electra!

@@AvAngel I don't know that I'd keep hopes up, their response to your review has been to insist you don't know what you're talking about and have no credence, rather than trying to fix anything.
If compered to Junkers 52 this aircraft is not good at all, but again not many are as good quality as Ju-52 and should be a lot cheaper then they actually are.
The loud sound is being produced by the ladder scraping the tarmac.
Nope, i opened and closed it several times, zero difference.

most likely not, been out for a bit now, others have it covered and honestly, reviewing aircraft is very expensive as I buy 99.9% myself, only been given two to review so far.
The textures have that Substance Painter feel. Don't get me wrong, I love Substance but you do need some extra manual work to remove the procedural feeling of it.
Fantastic review. Looks like a plane well worth having, at least until we get a decent DC-3. This is a beautiful bird to fly.

Agreed completely. In fact my first thought was "This is a $20 aircraft" so it was nice hearing you come to the same number. I've opted to refund for now. I know AH can do better than this.
I was really looking forward to this and buying either it or the Ju-52 whichever seemed better, but the pitch sensitivity is a big turn-off for a $30 product and I will most likely go with Tante Ju instead, which by all reports feels much more refined.

I am so glad this is out! I have been dying for one of my classic favorites, the Beech 18. A Lockheed Electra model 10 is close enough IMO… at least for now. I don’t blame you in the slightest for being critical, especially with the textures. It’s 2021, we have a myriad of imagery editing tools, there’s no reason that a payware aircraft cannot have very impressive texturing. It definitely doesn’t help the situation when you have a multitude of freeware aircraft that easily surpass the quality of some of the payware aircraft. As nice as this one is, in its current state, it is freeware quality. I heard you mention a few times that you are hey texture artist, I wonder if you would be willing to take a look at a particular Aircraft for me if you ever had the time. A few months ago someone was kind enough to offer to paint the savage cub to look like my real world super cub, and as grateful as I am, and as much as I love it, The striping and the nose graphic are very choppy and very low resolution when viewing up close. I have to think this could have come out better. But I did not want to complain. I wonder if you might be willing to look at it? Maybe touch it up and make it look better? I can supply plenty of photos and graphics to make it right if you felt compelled to give it a go?
I haven't done any work with the new import tools of MSFS, so I'd have to learn the process. It's been a minute! Sorry :S
Thanks for the review, Rachael! I was already on the fence with this one after the 140 release. It's really disappointing to see all of these rush jobs coming to market. MSFS was both a good and a bad thing. It's release took the market by storm, driving tons of new interest, but from a developer's perspective, it also completely destroyed the FSX and P3D market (Not sure about X-Plane, but I'm sure it saw a big decrease as well). Unfortunately, businesses being businesses and needing sales to survive has resulted in a rush to bring products over from FSX, P3D, and XP. That and everyone with some modeling skills wanting a piece of the cake, definitely doesn't help. Basically setting the bar closer to the bare minimum. Hopefully in the next year, we'll see this start to disappear. *Waiting patiently for Asobo to allow A2A into the market*

I wasn't too pleased by the 140, so I'm giving this one a hard pass and probably buying Flying Iron's P38 instead.

150 kts is the redline, to go beyond that the plane overstresses and restarts flight. so for the cruise speed is around 100, they need to rework the power numbers, fix egt, and mixture controls. the mixture doesn't appear to change anything, like fuel flow, or temps. to keep from overspeed cruise power must be set to less then 15 manifold pressure, and 2000 rpms. the engines are overpowered , and overstress speed to low, seems like a basic and simple design flaw that should have never made it into a pay ware version. i'm looking for a flight manual, as to compare the numbers but as of to date not located one as of yet. it's nice overall, but the flight model needs tuning to match real world performance. i'm disappointed with the purchase overall, and will park it until an update is available. These are the numbers below for the 10a found on wiki, and thus confirming that the performance numbers are way off.
Maximum speed: 190 mph (310 km/h, 170 kn) at sea level, fully loaded
210 mph (182 kn; 338 km/h) at 5,000 ft (1,524 m)
Cruise speed: 176 mph (283 km/h, 153 kn) at sea level
185 mph (161 kn; 298 km/h) at 5,000 ft (1,524 m)
195 mph (169 kn; 314 km/h) at 9,600 ft (2,926 m)
Landing speed: 64 mph (56 kn; 103 km/h) flaps down

AV or anyone..I have no knowledge of the process to design scenery or quality test and put addons to aircraft for the sim, is it a big job? Two of your past reviews come to mind as I love both...The Beechcraft 99 which lacks a seen opening back door and more engine power and Alaska Kevak base camp according to the designer their is a static family of bears and deer but I can not see them? Surely with KV1 it should not be difficult to add walking bears by the river is it? On another point wish some developer would make for example Harrison Fords green DHS Beaver, he might offer help if they donate to his kids flying charity?

No it would not. The electra uses a cheap legacy soundset of generic sounds, no wwise implementation. Just like their C140, the sound is not in 3d, means it would have no effect all if you opened the windows (probably the reason you cant open them tbh)
If I could find on the game where to free flight planes I guess that's how u do it in this game I'd play it unlessu plan out routes great videos

Many thanks for another interesting aircraft presentation. Therein lies the problem, yet another third party add on that is FSX. Many of them do not represent the current level of detail that we now expect from Asobo. I just wish they were removed from the Marketplace and/or those companies update them to current MS FS 2020 standards. Lovely aircraft, but come on you developers please do better for this current iteration of Microsoft Flight Simulator 2020 !.

Nope. Not worth the price. I bought the Cessna 140 by aeroplane heaven and it still has texture and model problems. One can easily see facets in that model. (look at any curved surface in the cockpit - windows) This is MSFS and it’s 2021 so the model SHOULD be a little more complex. Textures are bad and stretched in the 140. In the age of great texture software like Substance, AH should be able to do much better. Sounds in the 140 could be handled better - too loud and it’s very easy to hear the loop patterns in the engine noise. I’d buy the Electra in a heartbeat if it were someone else beside AH who made it. It’s a beautiful plane.
I want to buy something from the marketplace but idk where to start.
I got my eyes on the airpot scenery,enhanced airport graphics, the husky,tomcat or eurofighter and maybe a few airports also the NZ And Swiss mesh. Can you help me choose? I’m on Xbox btw
