- The butter smooth inline 6 turbo is a punchy unit and makes a solid case for daily drivability. Making 335HP+ ( correction from 333HP mentioned in the video). The X5 is sporty and roomy! handles very well for its size and offers more or less all the features that the X7 offers. Where they differ is in the rear, behind the front cabin. The X7 has a very comfortable 3rd row that makes great usage of the longer body. The cargo is small with the seats up so you have to choose between a people carrier or cargo but it can do either with extreme ease. The adjustable ride height is very useful and it would a pleasure to drive. It doesn't offer sport in any way but it is very comfortable. The front cabin is a familiar BMW interior with the same infotainment. The difference in price is around 25,000$ (individual options aside). The X7 doesn't offer much in the way of front cabin over the X5, making it a bit expensive. They both are offered with V8 engines, the X5 even gets a full M version. The X7 does have an Alpina variant for extra pizzazz.

I just bought the 2022 X7 M sport 40i family of 5 and my kids love it in the back so much comfort
I don’t even care about having a big family or if it’s a family car, I just love huge SUVs like the X7
If bmw made an X10 like the size of a Yukon Denali I’d be on the wait list regardless of $$$ point. I’ve owned Infiniti x80 (don’t waist your money…..crap quality and manufacture support for issues with your $70k+ purchase. Infiniti corporate told me that the factory white pearl defective paint job on my x80 “was not their problem because it had over 50k miles and it was not a safety recall issued by the Gov. I had to pay to repaint the vehicle and traded it in for bmw X7. The bmw folks stand behind their product and the local dealer goes the extra mile to make sure I am happy. Ie…they put me in an 840i convertible for the day when my x7 was getting oil change….that’s what.
I call customer service. Got mine from galleria BMW Diberville Mississippi! Ask for Beau Mandal. Yes the owner. Tell him you read the TH-cam review from His cousin Vic/wife and the amazing x7 he got us!!! Best wishes

We went in thinking the X7 was right for us (family of 4), but after test driving we decided the X5 was the way to go and we're very happy that we did. To me, the X5 drove more like a car. The X7 was great, but it definitely felt like a bigger SUV.

I have x7 50I, there is no comparison at all! X7 is a very different driving pleasure than X5!! My car is very fast I can overtake any X5 except X5 M
@@nabman7425 We also have a 2019 X5 40i Xdrive and I think we are going to trade it in on an X7. Staying with the 40i engine as it has plenty of power and about $20k less expensive. I haven't test driven a X7 yet so it should be interesting after driving the X5 for 3 years.

@@nabman7425 what tells us about you don't understand anything about cars. It can't go into turns like x5, it can't accelerate like x5 because of heavy. Even x5 40i can overtakes you, X 50I just humiliate x7:D
This was helpful because I only had driven the X7 and loved the front seat space and dont need a third row seat. I noticed it wobbled and wished it had been a tad bit sportier but also dont want to sacrifice comfort or front seat space. This review kind of swayed me towards checking out the x5. Thanks!
I’ve owned the x7 for over one year. I only have 1 small child. I formerly drove Denali Yukon, Toyota land cruiser and x80 Infiniti. The x7 in my opinion blows the others I have driven away. If you really need a people mover bus then buy one……..but don’t expect to feel any butterflies…… if you are like me and want to spend your $70-$100k on something that you actually feel sexy driving then the x7 is your ticket. Not sponsored in any way, shape or form!, ….girl power for the bosses who call their own shots,
Same.....LOVE my X7. Traded a 2018 Cadillac Escalade and very happy with that decision. AC is the only downfall.

Thanks for sharing your experience ox X7. I am debating between x5 and x7 ? I don't need the 6 or 7 seating BUT the X7 is a headturner compare to x5 in my opinion. It's a 7 series suv ( i had a 750 earlier) It's tall big and bulky front. Question for you please? Should i get the x7 even i don't need 7 seats? Something new to drive as x5 is very common?

I love the extra bench for having my parents or the in-laws when going on a road trip. I think its ideal since I need to have 2 cars seats for the kids. Hate the price tag lol.

On the X7
The 2nd Row bench increases max payload as they fold flat while the captain chairs merely move forward & soft close doors are available.
The soft closed doors are something I love. So the handle isn’t needed

Yup glad I got my X7. Don’t even have a family but the extra room is awesome when going on my road trips w/my wife. Artic Grey, M-Sport package and she goes. Call it a family car all you want but big boys need big bodies lol ✌🏽
and she drives like a car, doesn’t feel like an Expedition or Yukon or some other massive vic.

I agree with most of the comments. X7 has better quality for an unknown reason including extras like ZeroG seat 💺. But x5 is the most ergonomic size 🥰🥰
Similarly equipped X5 is not 20K less than an X7. X7 comes with standard air suspension. That together with a longer wheelbase results in a more comfortable, planted ride.

I test drove both and preferred the X7. I have 2 children.....18 and 21.....so I didn't need the extra room, but very glad I have it. It is super smooth and I feel amazing driving it!! The only downfall is the AC. Takes forever to cool down in this Florida heat.
Is the air coming out warfoe too long, or is it a weak delivery system, in other words, not enough air?

The X7 is a great vehicle BUT too big for most families. X5 is a better fit for the majority of people.
Exactly I told my dad to just go with the x5 due to him never using the 3rd row seats. And doing so he can add more packages if he wants too
I have the x7 40i m sport. Its nice and it fits the family, nanny, and dogs. I thought about the x5, but i found it too small for us and i already have a highlander to fill that spot.
The X5 is definitely smaller. I feel it's a great starting point but the X7 is better utility vehicle.
Have you had any issues with your trunk opening on its own?

So is it literally only half an inch difference in second row leg room between the X5 and X7? Is the bigger difference in the 3rd row and cargo space? If second row is my main concern, not sure it is worth the 15k plus to upgrade to the X7 just for half an inch of leg room....

Don’t choose the captain chair seat option, otherwise you can’t fold down the seats of the middle row.

The third row may be roomy but I will not forgive BMW for not adding vents to the third row. I didn’t realize until after someone had to sit back there that there weren’t any vents. It makes sitting back there really uncomfortable. Adding vents is an extra option which is absurd. I expected there to be vents and the extra option was to add an individual zone back there. Even my old Volkswagen atlas had vents back there.
what are you talking about? it has own 3rd row hvac and heated seat controls and vents for 3rd row in the X7
@@MikeyG003it’s an extra option. The vents don’t come standard like you’d think. I have a 2019 X7 and it doesn’t have any air vents, it just has a cheap plastic cover where the controls would be.
This must a base model. Because around I am a lot of x7 have soft closing doors and the around view camera system.
This was very close to base, we tried to get the same spec for both cars. Yeah most of them do have those features and I'd highly recommend anyone that can buy it with those features to go for it.

Why no mention of the Mercedes-Benz GLS... AUDIs don't match up to either in my books?
Its not fully loaded. It has not even the glas shifter, heated/cooled cupholders ect.
Is this engine reliable?? It is extremely important for me especially 40 I??
The drivetrain is quite reliable. They do have corks here and there but usually not major issues. Especially not related to the drivetrain. BMW is reasonable when it comes to honoring their warranty, I wouldn't worry too much about the reliability.

When it comes to major issues I think they're pretty reliable. They do have minor quirks, nothing to deter anyone from buying them.

The x5 rear room is like that of a 3 series
1:they don’t allow the seat to recline far back enough
2.the seats need to be able to slide back
That would have solved the x5 problems because the x5 is like heightened,heavy car
When it comes to rear seat room
Mercedes has more ,and u can tell by the length of the fender, Benz fenders are shorter.
And the back doors are longer , u can tell upon looking the backseats has more space and comfort than the bmw.
Look how the gle beat the x6,
By making their car higher giving more headroom in the back.and a little more lenght
I recommend you doing your research before making such statements. The X7 offers a bit more front-row headroom at 41.9 inches to the X5's 40.7 inches, but legroom is identical at 39.8 inches. The second row X7 headroom and legroom: 39.9 and 37.6 inches, compared to the X5 39.4 and 37.4 inches, respectively. Neither of these are 3 series comparable.

@@48hourrecordsteam45 dude. I know what you're talking about. The X5 rear seat is fractionally smaller than the X7. The X5 also reclines perfectly fine. Package it with optional 3rd row and it literally moves just like the X7. Your original comment is that it's a problem in the X5, it's not.

Lesser,cheaper brands have more backseat room in their midsize SUV’s than the x5 and that’s a bad thing

Frankly the 3rd row space part was not that convincing because you did not show exactly how your legs fit against the second row seat. Based on pure high school geometry, the size of the X7 does not really allow for roomy 3rd row...

The X7 is an excellent SUV
If I want a max SUV - then it is hard to beat a Toyota Sequoia. Additionally, the seats move FASTER.
Finally, it is built for those who want to drive and spend time in the great OUTDOORS.
x7 acoustic glass and air suspension.....x5 doesn't have it....
Both those features were an option in 2020 for the x5
x7 is far more better
BMW SUV'S, including the X7 has horrendous resale value.... it depreciates in value faster than a bad diarrhea going down the tiolet.... a 2019 X7 can be have at $65,000-70,000....
I just picked one up fully loaded for $60K lol

The cinematography was awful. Viewers want to see the cars and side by side comparision images, not the host.
i hate black vehicles and wheels, it's like everyone wants to be Special OPPS or something, if i'm going to spend this kind of money on a vehicle i want to be seen, i want my wheels to make people go blind, and i want Diamond paint on my joint, this color is trash.
