Don't forget to get that flange on a belt sander, I guarantee it will have warped from the heat after welding, it might be worth doing the head flange while you're there too :) keep up the good work and your welding skills are amazing, especially for your age!
That's going to help with the 'get up to highway speeds' pretty well.You can grind the inner lip smoother, on the manifold,for quicker airflow into the turbo without that interference.Also a duct into the turbo from the grill area will keep you from sucking in the hot engine air.Have fun!
If he does that also make the compression ratio lower that way you can raise the boost even more!!! (Making the compression chamber larger)

Even tho you won’t be running high boost don’t forget to bead roll your piping

Look into oval tubing or pipe for tighter spots without giving up flow.

You can squish that 2.5” pipe into an oval and it won’t cause near the flow restriction as necking down to 2”
I did something similar with an old e30 over a decade ago used a vortex fmu rrfpr and slightly larger injectors plus a chip with agressive spark timing and cooler plugs. Ran on the rich side at idle and pulled like a beast. Another way to get around stand alone fuel injection, even though I did do mega squirt wich allows for agressive changes but is expensive
Take the front bumper off and route the intercooler down and through the front, weld all the piping together and you'll have a nice set up! This things gonna be sick!

Power Tour is in your neck of the woods this year. Either the Miata or your souped up crumbwagon (what I call minivans) would be fun for that.....jes thinkin'....
Definitely need to pull the exhaust housing off the turbo and open it up the your adapter that way the turbo can spool up a bit faster and flow better into the exhaust housing. It will help with power and response. As most don't think or know to do this.
You should have just ovaled the 2 1/2 inch pipe where it got tight to the rad and hood and there are cheaper routes for tuning a miata just takes time to find the alternatives I forget the names of them it's been so long since I did my build

You prob should have kept it 2 inch coming out of the turbo instead of increasing and then reducing

Definitely, I just posted the same thing lol just 2" the whole way, better flow and will look neater
Instead of adapting the pipe to 2" to clear the hood id oval the 2.5" ull get the same flow and clear the hood.
Can you use oval shaped pipes so the hood can close but still get good flow?
I read that they tried, but they would have to be 5" wide to get the same volume

The tubing wont hold up well with higher psi.
