2:45 There were 2 incidents where aircrafts landed at Juhu airport instead of CSMIA, one was a DH106 Comet which landed in 1953, it was later flown out after removing it's seats (to reduce takeoff weight) and the other was a Japan airline dc-8 which overran the runway at Juhu and into a ditch, thankfully it stopped before a very busy highway and no casualties were reported

Good information, however, In 1979 Vile Parle terminal's international section was heavily damaged due to a big fire during the pick season of Haj. For almost three weeks the airport was shut down and both domestic and international services started from domestic wing of the same building. Fortunately a new cargo terminal was almost ready at Sahar village (it's no more a village now) and the international passengers were handled from there till a new terminal was built.(used to be known has Sahar airport) As the present Mumbai airport as no space for expansion so is Kolkata airport. Right now Kolkata airport is also in the mid-city.

I was seeing the site since my Childhood with board on site for Proposed Airport(Dream Project of CIDCO). Though land filling done upto 6ft, but over the period it will settled down to the original level. For eg: Kharghar - where the land filling done by CIDCO in 90's 6ft above the Sion - Panvel Highway. As said over the period it came to the level highway, due to rain and other construction work. So, over the time, sands get settle down.
Wish they builda mumbai to navi mumbai airport rrts ,will provide a great incentive to public transit in future as its wayy cheaper than atal setu ,it will be modern and fast within 40 mins

This airport is literally next to my town (Panvel). Although the actual terminal is said to be in Ulwe which will be around 30mins from my town. Can see the construction of the runways from the JNPT highway which is very close to us

The design of the terminals is not optimum. One of the basic principles of airport designs is to have as short distance as possible between the furthest gates. I hope they have people movers of sort or else it's going to be a crazy long walk.

It feels very uncomfortable to see so many slums on the outskirts of India's second biggest airport. How can maharastra government even allow these much slums to be constructed. If you look at the satelite map of Mumbai, you will found more slums than actual concrete houses, Shame on maharastra government. Just because of Mumbai, india is called home of slums. They need to clean their slums first
Your discomfort is not our concern. You do realise that many slum dwellers were provided alternate accommodation at the cost of the exchequer but they refuse to be rehabilitated, or they simply sell their SRA flats to go and live in another slum, right? The biggest obstacle to slum removal is the mentality of the slum dwellers. Stop blaming the state government when successive govts. here have attempted to make their situation slightly more liveable - but were rebuffed multiple times. And till you decided to spew hate here by calling India the 'home of slums' - I have never heard India 'called' or referred to by that phrase.

India is growing but the only problem is privatization csmt airport already owned by adani now navi mumbai In telecom sector no competition just pure monopoly even ports are privatized, public transport system should be owned by goverment only adani ambani are greedy businessman the would do anything to grow more profit hope they dont privatize railway

Mumbai airports T2, now NMIA have so much better designs than desi design of Delh's T3 & Jewar. Even Blr T2 is so much better.
