    🚨Wash test was a success we finally figured out why some inkjet printers were having success with color! it needs to be a pigment inkjet printer. Tip you need to powder and press asap or powder and cure asap

    Thanks for this tutorial, I had asked about lines and what paper settings to use for the DTF hack with my sublimation printer. I’m excited to try the suggested settings and see if that makes a difference. I do need to order more of the films because I have used all mine up trying to figure out the problem. My sublimation printer is an Epson and feeds from the back, I do not need to tape to other paper which I am thankful for.

  • @user-pz1ve1jb5s

    Thank you. You listened to comments and solved a problem. Pigment printers usually cost more and cartridges makes it even more costly. I converted an et-2720 to pigment for over 3 years now and still working well. Like any inkjet printers, it clogs if not used and remained idle. Ink is cheap (on eco tanks) and it likes printing high quality matte atleast 2x a week minimum. I never had print cleaning maintenance even once. I downloaded a 4 color template that has the exact colors CYMK of the cartridge.

      @mikerodrick2430 8 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      You can also buy a CISS system if you're going to be doing a lot of printing & buy the ink in bulk. There's no reason to use EPSON inks as there a 3rd party sellers that are much cheaper even if you use cartridges. You only have to be certain that you order pigment ink when you buy from them. Some of the sellers were doing refilled cartridges with standard ink because they didn't know pigment was required for shirts. If you're not doing a lot of printing, forget about the CISS & use refilled cartridges because you can buy them in sets rather than separately. The savings are actually quite substantial.

    • @mikerodrick2430
      @mikerodrick2430 8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@danihall4538 A printer can't be converted from standard inks to pigment or vice-versa. The cartridges are totally different. Given the price of the printers, it's not an issue. The ink is the cost.

I purchased it last year to covert it but never got the chance, then I started looking at your hacks and now I don't see the point of the extra trouble if it's not worth it for my hobby and small business. Most of my business deals with rhinestones t-shirts and products and vinyl, however, I just want to be able to provide the vibrancy of sublimation or the DTF look. So I want to make sure that I understand you correctly. Today 7/24/23, you were talking about some kind of "pigment" ink cartridge that was compatible with the Epson or inkjet printers and I wanted to know if going this route is the same as going the sublimation way, if not, which is more cost-effective? Lastly, has the home conversion for the sublimation process gotten less messy, lol? Ty

    • @YouCanTotallyMakeThat
      @YouCanTotallyMakeThat  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thank you I'm so happy to hear that! The difference between the 2 is the ink sits on top of the film it's like a plastic if you will. so when you add the powder and press it to the shirt it releases it from the film similar to if you were to make cookies and you put them on a non stick pan they come right off you only need the film to get DTF out of your sublimation printer so you could have both worlds sublimation and DTF. DTF allows you to add your designs to cotton fabric where sublimation you need polyester. hope this helps

      with the inkjet you can do color designs on items you don't wash like tote bags pillow covers etc the black can be washed and will stay. The pigment inkjet printers last through the wash. Hope this helps

      I noticed the same with my black it went to brown I'm thinking it has to do with the pigment ink. also if you don't powder it fast enough that will happen. Thants the down fall of pigment you have to work super fast

    Anyone tried Brother pigment printer (MFC-j6555dw)? I wanna try it out; all my laser printers are Brother and I know the setup, menu etc. I have a color Brother laser but I notice (even with paper that says I can use laser printer) in the wash it cracks and crumbles. Not sure if it is paper though (used same brand 1st time and all was perfect). 🤔 Any ideas would be great; never tried the DTF on any printer; love the idea thats part of why I want to switch out as well.

    My one problem with this way of printing is the cost of the inks...I like sublimation, because the ink that you use is long lasting and you don't need to buy cartridges...I would figure that in the cost of the printers

    😂 Your channel is amazing. Can I expand something on you as far as why the sublimation hack works? The DTF powder has what is called polyester and it because of that the sublimation adheres to the powder Meeting it will bond with the power that turns into the glue that is on the shirt. So in essence you're sublimating the polyester Fabric glue. Description below on what the powder is made with.
    I did elaborating this on my channel when I did sublimation
    Hack
    polyurethane: polyester and polyether. Both are highly effective in a diverse range of industries. Polyester urethane and polyether urethane are elastomers, meaning that they possess elastic properties, and both offer unique performance properties.😊
