    I am a beginner to woodwork, the main test I have with this bundle th-cam.com/users/postUgkxTNB_zFBSnTo_O1PqfVUwgi7ityw0JlKt is that I think that its hard to settle on a choice of the plan and outline to use as there are a large portion of them there. Nonetheless, I like the simple stride to step directions laid out there.

    Upgraded from an older 18v kit. th-cam.com/users/postUgkxW1vOBRCMrgTCDEijzpVzDWsgI-Jm2iQv I independently chose the drill and impact tool, before I came across the kit.I like the 3 speed impact gun. It seems more powerful than my older one, and it can be set to be really gentle. The drill is more appropriately sized for my use. I used to have a hammer drill, but I did not like that it was so big and it was not a great hammer drill. I rather have a smaller drill like this, and then get a corded hammer drill for the odd case I need that.

    I can attest that the atomic hammer drill is an awesome piece of kit. Both of these drills are very powerful for their size.

    People might get confused by referring to a tool as having “speed” settings. Like a stick shift truck, these are gears. Low gear = higher torque. High gear = lower torque. Low torque for doing moderate tasks quickly, like a bunch of drywall screws. High torque for heavier duty tasks, like putting a huge lag screw into treated 6x6 lumber.

    Good reviews Jarred.
    I think these ultra compact units are to be used very occasionally and in partnership with your staple drill and drivers, just for tight spaces where the bigger work horses won’t fit.
    Same reason they come with tiny batteries, gives you options.

    I build office furniture for a living and I would contend that we use our drills as much if not more than any other trade out there. The atomic line is something I been awaiting because we cant really use an impact due to working in office environment and they are loud, so the atomic drill is perfect. There is days that we use our drills 7 hours of a day so the lightweight drill is something im considering. Currently have 20 volt dewalt brushless and brushless xr dewalt 20 volt with the 6 amp batterys.

    That impact on full speed is the same rpm and impacts per min as the XR on the 2 setting. I can’t say anything about the drill but I have the atomic hammer drill and it surprisingly works just as well as the XR hammer drill. It does get a little bit hotter faster than the XR but it doesn’t stop working. I’m an electrician and I use them all day 5 days a week. Haven’t had them a full week yet but so far I’m impressed. I’m not impressed with the 1.5ah battery though it last 45 min of straight punishment before it dies.

    Hi Kyle got this set with the hammer drill option at a home Depot in canada.it was on a clearance rack missing the charger I paid 144 tax in .worth every penny and more .was just a opportunity I couldn't pass up .I don't notice enough difference to care with all my other 20 v drills and impacts i have .the batteries are not the best but that's how they try to keep the price I guess .hope u had a great Easter with family .

    I've been in the dewalt ecosystem for a long time. just recently picked up the 20v (not atomic) set and am a bit bummed. the batteries were both lemons and the build quality feels sub-par compared to older models I have enjoyed so much. time will tell ....after I return the batteries and get them into use again. will love to hear how they stand up to your field use.

      RR Buildings I actually just looked and mine is the DCF887B 20V MAX XR and has 2000 in-lb of torque. This new Atomic model only has 1700 in-lb of torque. The fractional size difference is definitely not worth the loss of power...

    Hi guys- as a 30 year audio professional I’d say that the only constructive criticism I could give you is to either shoot the video in a less “live” sounding room, or somehow treat the room to knock down the reverb of the room. Even hanging some packing blankets outside of the camera view area will help.
    I know you’ve got a lav. Mic your using, but when listening on headphones the reverb in the background is distracting.
    Otherwise, you guys are crushing it. DM me if you need more specifics or tips to help reduce the reverb time.

    I feel like if I want a small drill driver or impact driver I’d just go 12v... the weight of the 18/20v battery is going to negate most of the smaller size, and lets be honest those 1.5Ah batteries are going straight in the back of the cupboard

    • @danielwutzke776
      @danielwutzke776 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      I got this set for there smaller size.
      I installing cabinets and have been doing so with 12v milwaukee,
      You are right about the size of the batterys but having so many 20v dewalt tools and batterys it makes sense to switch to this kit for the size and weight.

    At the $100 (home depot/lowes) price point each
    1 battery w impact
    Or
    2 batteries w drill
    I think you cant go wrong. Throw it away when / if they break. Perfect for DIY or remodel work. If your installing subfloors or building decks every day you probably need to spend $$ to get higher quality. I have a set that's just for home use. I use DW hammer drill DCF996 and DCD885 impact on the jobsite.
    If I didnt have so many yellow tools I would probably go with red tools.

    I'm guessing this supposed to be DeWalt's answer to the success of Milwaukee's M12 line of compact tools. If that's the case, I feel like they're missing the mark by a long shot. All of my 18v tools are DeWalt, all of which I'm pretty fond of. I got into the M12 line for the sidewinder ratchets, which nobody else in the industry seems to make. The M12 Fuel 3/8 stubby impact is amazing. I think for automotive guys, the compact nature of the M12 line is key.
    Once you get started in a tool line with a particular battery, it's hard to stop. I picked up the M12 Fuel impact driver and drill (without hammer function), the under hood LED light as well as the little bar light and the stapler reviewed in an earlier Toolsday.
    All the tools are pro quality. They're not as powerful as the 18v versions, but they're really nice to use when you don't need the power of the larger tools.

    Bought this kit, impact is quite serviceable if you're not trying to drive large fasteners. The drill is basically a joke it will not do much of anything beyond a half inch drill bit and driving standard size fasteners. And this is coming from someone who has used DeWalt for years

    I love Milwaukee tools but... I have owned both the Milwaukee brushless and the Dewalt brushless and one thing that really seamed to stick out to me was every so often the Milwaukee would have glitches. The impact would randomly switch speeds or the drill driver would just stop working and I would have to pull the battery to reset the unit. Frustrating! But with that said the Milwaukee also has a butt load more power and versatility!

    Looks like a decent set for a cabinet crew or where nice petite tools are appreciated. I generally carry a cordless compact drill and a big 1/2" cordless hammer drill with me anyways. No sense in using a big heavy tool for itty bitty holes. I wonder if a better comparison would have been the M12 Fuel drill since I know that M18 drill is a beast.

  • @clydedecker765
    @clydedecker765 5 ปีที่แล้ว +3

    In my humble opinion, the DeWalt did pretty well considering the price point. I really have to strain hard to justify the costs you're paying because I am NOT a contractor using the tool 8 hours a day. Milwaukee makes great tools (at well over $400 for the same configuration) as does Festool, etc. but so does Mazzerati, etc. make great cars...but ... I, for one, cannot afford that much outlay PER TOOL. You, as a contractor can't afford NOT to.

    That Milwaukee drill you have there is the Gen 2. The Gen 3 Milwaukee is just about the same size as that Atomic Dewalt drill but has much more power.

    ToolsDay is good day! Have Dewalt and they DEFINITELY have good, better, best. Some of the drivers are garbage for heavy use. Gone through two, on my third in moderate use over the 5 past years. Not a good performance. Drills have fared much better.
