My primary request for the next Smash game: Make echo fighters more unique. There's so much more they could have done with Ganondorf than make him a heavy Captain Falcon clone. Same thing with revamping Link, bringing Dr. Mario back, etc.
I'm a Dr. Mario main, and I personally think Doc should have been an Echo Fighter of Mario. ALL the echo fighters should have drastic enough differences like Mario compared to Dr. Mario, to alter the way you play as them.
@@lasercraft32 Problem with that is that maybe Sakurai thought that Black Shadow was far too obscure and irrelevant to be in Smash. Samurai Goroh is arguably the second most popular character in the series and he only made it in as an assist trophy for the last 3 Smash games. Black Shadow has only made it in as a sticker (and later a Spirit). If Goroh couldn’t make it in, there’s no way that Black Shadow could make it in. Ganondorf is far more relevant and popular.
As cool as a Subspace sequel would be (especially with all the other things you recommended in a single player mode), it would be pretty tough to incorporate all of the fighters unless many were cut.
You actually make a great point, imagine having to create lots of cutscenes with Ultimate’s Cast, not including the DLC, Brawl was already ambitious on its own. Felt like it pushed the Wii to its limit at certain points going by the load times if you played Brawl on Disc.
Especially if they went with voice acting on TOP of having to animate all the characters of the base roster of Ultimate interacting with each other. Subspace Emissary was already pushing the Wii to its limit with ITS roster at the time, I can’t even imagine the Switch handling the Ultimate roster with a full adventure with voice acting and cutscenes and story mode exclusive stages. It’s a cool idea on paper, but realistically must be a nightmare to actually get it to work. Plus having a DLC story line involving the DLC characters separated from the main story would be the cherry on top for this nightmare to come true.
@@karlispovisils5297 True, it would have to be its own cartridge as a complete separate thing from the regular Smash Ultimate game. The amount of work would be too much for one cartridge to handle. It’d be a FF7 thing all over again with its multiple disks for the main story situation.
You don't need to include all the characters. Even Subspace Emissary left out some of the later unlockables (Wolf, Toon Link, Jigglypuff and more or less Sonic because he just appears in one shot). A "smaller" story with just the biggest players interacting throughout and then most everyone showing up at the very very end Avengers: Endgame style would be perfect.
I know it won't be possible but I would love unique endings for each characters in classic mode. Not the endings that we have already from the other games but more like something from playstation all stars where each character had a introduction, meeting a character and ending cutscene, it makes the classic mode more exciting to play.
I truly appreciate the efforts in making the Smash franchise (specifically in its current state of casual play) as alive as possible. In my personal opinion, I feel that Nintendo's most likely next step is to bring Smash 64 to N64 Online. Ik it sounds kinda watersdown compared to everything said in the vid, but Nintendo is Nintendo.
One thing I wish Smash Ultimate had which they should bring in the next Smash is the Spirits having description like trophies had that gives us a paragraph of which game it came from. There's over 1000 spirits in Ultimate from series that are long forgotten and it'll be nice to know information about them
Even Pjiggles made a video calling out Spirits being lame and being PNGs you can just look up in the age of almost everyone having access to the internet.
There're 3 things I want to point out that I believe are important: 1:Ultimate almost didn't exist at all in the first place (or at least almost didn't brought back everyone) cause Snake and Cloud almost got out because of Konami and Square Enix respectively, I don't think a port is even impossible if we take into account some DLC fighters and the legal nightmare that would require bringing them back again. 2:The problem with alternate costumes comes from companies NOT wanting to change the design of their character too drastically, and since Nintendo doesn't own some of those characters, they must follow the guidelines without a question just to be able to have Pacman and Sonic in the game (characters that don't have very interesting alternate costumes). 3:Speaking of guidelines, involving third-party characters into the story will be tricky since the companies will demand full control of what their characters will be doing, and if they don't like an interaction, they will demand a change, there's a reason they exchanged a story mode for the reveal trailers, cause that way, they can focus on just ONE third-party character (sometimes none) as opposed to multiple and thus, following the guidelines becames easier.
Honestly, I don't think it's a bad idea to reduce the roster in the next Smash Smash Ultimate was an event in itself, bringing so many different franchises into one place. Even if Nintendo tried, I doubt they could please as much as they did here However, it would be very interesting to have a Smash focused on Nintendo franchises. A story mode in a game like this could be as epic as Subspace and easier to do
@@Nintendotron64 true, but the roster reduction will happen whether you like it or not, especially if Sakurai isn't working on the next Smash Smash Ultimate is the kind of thing that doesn't usually happen twice
@@INFERNO95 just make a story mode that you need to play through more than once. Subspace played with this a bit, but could go beyond some extra cg scenes. Maybe alternative endings if you choose a hero or a villain could be interesting
I’d honestly say they can keep some echo fighters but massively Revamp them, like young link for example, he could easily use his masks and be a transformation character
If Toon Link stays around, he should have a movesest based on items from Minish Cap, Spirit Tracks and Four Swords Adventures. Also, Adult Link should have Classic, Oot, Twilight Princess and Hero's Shade Links as alternate costumes.
We can’t even be sure they’ll bring everyone back, let alone build on the echo fighter concept, in fact whenever a new Smash game comes out it either builds upon things, changes or ditches things. >Melee ditched Board the Platforms from 64 >Brawl changed Target Test from having character specific target tests >Smash 4 built upon the online modes Brawl introduced and gave us For Fun and For Glory >Ultimate got rid of All Star Mode for Century Smash These are just the few examples
Great video Aaron! Yeah, if a Deluxe does happen, there's also always that slim chance we get some extra characters who didn't make it this time around.
I think the next Smash game should be a reboot with JUST Nintendo characters. It’d remove the legal issues of third party characters, and let the developers use that time and money to revamp older characters, add new ones people have been wanting, and focus on side modes and QOL. We never did get a Boss Rush mode in Ultimate. I know that to many, Smash Bros has become a “celebration of gaming” in general, but I think that if it was announced outright that the game would just be Nintendo-focused, people wouldn’t complain nearly as much.
7:20 I don't think Skull Kid has enough moveset potential to be upgraded to a full fighter. Bomberman _might_ work if you pulled some weird and generally obscure to the mainstream stuff from his franchise's history though. I'm not well-versed enough in that topic to say for certain and forgot most of what I already knew could work. Probably best to leave B-Daman out of his moveset though.
Shadow and Knuckles could work really well as semi clone characters like Luigi and Dr Mario. both could have a homing attack and one spindash with the other attacks being unique to them. They would be some of the easiest assist trophies to upgrade given that their models are similar to Sonic and Knuckles already having some attacks that can be easy to reuse.
Unpopular opinion: Crash Bandicoot is HUGELY overrated. That commercial is what made me want to play it, and when I finally did, my impression was “WTF is this crap?” The TV ad made it sound like it’s better than Mario 64 but Mario stomps Crash in every way and 3D Mario games are still fun to this day.
i think the next smash should be focused on customization. It woud be like Smash 4's custom moves but add in the ability to swap out asthetical peices on the fighters; like say Link's sheids, Samus' different suits, or maybe even differnt hats for Mario
Yeah, Tekken style. Problem is, depends on how much of a characters appearance is "trademarked" and can't be altered. In Tekken it's possible since they're all original characters.
I feel like the most likely option for the next Smash game is to reboot it so both Smash Ultimate and Smash 6 can still stand on their own and stay relevant where even though it's expected that probably around half or close of the roster in Ultimate is cut so they can give more unique movesets to characters that need them the most such as Samus, Kirby and Ganondorf but also add the most newcomers the series has ever seen so a lot of highly requested characters that didn't get into Smash Ultimate (and was probably on the Fighters Ballot) could finally get their chance in Smash 6 such as Waluigi, Geno, Phoenix Wright, Shantae, Doom Slayer, Crash, Rayman and Master Chief to name a few. Also, it's most likely that Sakurai won't be directing this game as he's repeatedly said that Ultimate will likely be his last game especially with the amount of work put into it and will pass the torch to someone else who Sakurai trusts to continue the series, but I also think Sakurai could still play some part in the next Smash since he also said that he can't think of anyone working on Smash besides him by being a Supervisor to the game giving approval and advice to everyone so it can be the Smash game Sakurai envisioned which is why it wouldn't be any more perfect than to call the next Smash game if it was a reboot: *Super Smash Bros. Genesys*
For a franchise to be represented, it needs at least one game on Nintendo. Halo has 0 games on Nintendo so Master Chief won't join, no matter what The rest of the choices are really based, especially Doom
@@djdrizzy9139 *"It's bland and outdated."* Eh, I don't think so. Not only does it have enough references, but he gets even more of those with his ability to copy other characters. *"He needs to incorporate more copy abilities..."* More than he already does?! That would make him way too complicated for no good reason. *"and get new ones for his specials."* No, no, no. Not only would this make him way too complicated, but it would also meant that this moveset wouldn't be able to be translated to the Main Games and the Smash ability would stop existing!.
Smash Ultimate is a culmination of a lot of things aligning VERY well. It would be hard to create a new Smash with all these characters and more without countless DLC. I also agree that long time veteran characters are pretty stale.
I'd like some more references to the source games in a subspace sequel but I thought the fact it wasn't just Nintendo worlds was awesome! The fact smash has its own universe added a lot to the story in my opinion. It wasn't a story of mario and zelda it truly was just Smash Bros. World (Watch this be the title of the sequel)
Subspace 2 would ideally, for me, use lock&key progression, wherein exploring the world unlocks characters that you can swap out to that'd help you progress (through the use of moves specific to them).
I’m on team reboot. Some of my ideas include: mid-air grabs, every character gets 2 final smashes (1 close-range, 1 long-range), flashier effects, series crossover stages (like a Mario x Zelda stage) with dope dual-series remixes, a true story mode (even if shorter), refocus on Nintendo-first, update all characters to reflect modern iterations.
If we do end up getting the next Smash game, here are some of my things that I want to see: - *Rollback Netcode* - *Squad Strike playable online* - *Play any music on any stage* - *Remove the dodge system limit and make the airdodge a bit more like Melee* - *L-Canceling but make it better than it was in Melee* - *Break the Targets and Board the Platforms* - *More minigames* - *Color Customization mode for the characters*
*- Bring back running through opponents* *- Categorize the stage with separate tabs of smash games they came from* *- Make Star KOs not so rare* *- Faster loading character alts or let us save an alt as favorite that automatically loads* *- On the results screen simply pressing start makes it go faster rather than mashing A* *- Bring back For Fun and For Glory*
Why bring back l-cancelling when you could just reduce landing lag as it is and make combos a bit easier to do? It's probably the worst melee mechanic because it makes things harder for no reason
I really don’t see a Ultimate Deluxe tbf. A reboot would arguably make more money, have them focus on characters that actually need reworks(looking at Ganon and Sonic for example), and then whatever else they could do. Nothing against Waluigi I just don’t understand the need for him.
I would really love for Smash to get a spin-off series, a “Super Smash Adventures,” that focused on single-player platforming, which would allow for a huge number of characters without having to balance them too carefully, and with locations, enemies and bosses taken from all the participating game series. And then the main Smash series can focus on designing and balancing the actual fighter characters and stages more closely.
Nah, Sephiroth's boss rush doesn't count since he can't even fight Galeem or Dharkon in his classic mode and you still need him if you wanted a boss rush with all characters.
If a campaign mode is done, move the Spirit battles from Adventure Mode to an Events Mode. Bring back and add more mini-games (Break the Targets). As for cosmetics, do a similar system to Mortal Kombat 11/1. Default skins and a slot for User Custom.
>Introduces a new concept with echo fighters pre-release >People are OK because it allows Sakurai to bring in characters easily as long as their moveset can be copypasted from another character >Literally stops after post release and doesn't mention it at all for DLC and even post-DLC It’s funny how Melee had the most robust set of clones while it was rushed but with Ultimate they had a lot of time to sprinkle some differences on certain echoes but only did minor differences or not even any, looking a Daisy and Damus.
Daisy could’ve been slightly stronger, but slower than Peach and Daisy is more of a physical fighter and doesn’t have a float mechanic compared to Peach. Richter’s Holy Water can travel further than Simon’s, Richter’s Up B can travel slightly higher and cross can travel less distance than Simon’s. Dark Samus can be more aggressive than regular Samus and some moves can have a “poison” effect with the Phazon “corrupting” the fighter hit by it (her assist trophy from Smash 4 funny enough has a pretty good base for an updated move set) Dark Pit can use more weapons from Kid Icarus Uprising like Claws, Clubs and actually use the Dark Pit Staff on his moveset and not exclusively use it in his final smash. Idk SOMETHING to differentiate the echo fighter from the actual fighter they are based on in a meaningful way.
In terms of outside of moveset, BotW Link is a new character that replaced an old character, not just a design change. He and Twilight Princess Link are separated by over ten thousand years of continuity, making it impossible for them to be the same person.
You forgot about rollback netcode lol :C Great points though! I would love to see another adventure mode and having it playable online would be a dream 😍 & loving the new icon btw ^^
It's not hard to top. Just make it to where we can customize what moves each character has. Make the characters more accurate to their depictions in their games. For example, make Mario pull out and use a fire flower when he wants to shoot fireballs
As long as new fighters still get amiibos I don't care. Because the point of the game is toys coming alive. The toys are the focus. If a fighter does not return we still have the toy.
"There's DK, who's had no significant changes since Smash 64." So his old clunky dash attack being swapped out for his roll attack from DKC1 and being able to use his down special in the air (both of which were changes made in *Smash 4)* were hallucinations I made up?
Personally, I say that an Ultimate Deluxe or a port of Ultimate would be one of the worst things for the franchise, as very little things DO change for the better. Plus, while on paper a roster of over 100 characters is crazy to think about, it'll just make the roster feel overwhelming to many players and to the balancing team. So, I propose, just make a Smash 6. Try to go for an actual story mode campaign, with fully animated and fully voiced cutscenes, and not World of Light. Improve the online ranking system, while also adding rollback netcode. Bring back a bunch of the single player modes that were cut like Break the Targets (the Brawl version), revert Classic Mode to how it was in Brawl. And finally, WE DON'T NEED ANOTHER EVERYONE IS HERE. The best course of action would be to first find out the "quintessential" Smash Bros going forward, like the 40-50 most iconic Nintendo/3rd Parties, add a few newcomers and take it from there. If you do that and offer plenty of replayability I think most players would be on board. Because what would you rather have, a fleshed-out game with less characters than Ultimate, or a barebones port but we have every character?
Dude, Ultimate's classic mode is the only one in the series that has a different path for every character, and You want to have again the same path for every character?
5:06 Sonic definitely has some new special moves they could use from Frontiers. Wasn't a whole lot they could've pulled from besides maybe wisp powers I guess?
@@Artista_Frustrado Also Sonic Battle. When it comes to Classic Sonic, the Super Peelout would be useless in a fight, that's why it was a taunt. What other moves is he even missing that would have been just as good if not better in a fight? Shooting Star Kick is _way_ more useful than the drop dash. Is there anything else? And then there's Modern Sonic's limited additions, Lightspeed Dash isn't as useful as his side special, Light Speed Attack leaves him wide open for too long, fire somersault just makes Sonic able to open METAL BAWKSES (pardon the reference to another game currently belonging to Sega) and it's not even unique to Sonic anyway (Mystic Melody is another one not uniquely his that's barely worth mentioning to begin with). Magic Hands only works on weak enemies, Bound Jump could be a fun down special but IDK about that one honestly, it'd be getting rid of spin charge too, which is Sonic's most iconic ability. I'm not even going to bother going over the gem abilities, they don't seem worth mentioning (I mean one of them is literally "Slow" WTF? ).
@@MattwosRandomNonContent i mean i guess some moves kinda resemble Sonic Battle as for Classic moves, well for starter all the Elemental Shields can be made into a far better Up+Smash move than the random spring also, I'm too lazy to just type, but yeah there's a reason why you can fin a ton of videos about dream movesets for Sonic
Make another Subspace Emissary BUT it doubles as a Smash Run with Boss Rooms. SE: Boss Rooms unlock some characters but mostly gears to improve your character. SR: Boss Rooms unlock some characters if the player who unlocked them wins the challenge at the end. It’s mostly there for bonus points. There can be an online free for all or team aspect where you’re dropped at random locations in a voted map and you and your team have to work together to fight a boss or gain points. If you can cross paths with a person and take their points like a defeat in Smash Run. Going through the story unlocks more maps for team SR or Free for Alls. We could probably add a Battle Royale mechanic that knocks players out if there’s too many for the challenge at the end.
Smash Ultimate Deluxe doesn’t make sense. Its already a “deluxe” version of the Sm4sh. MK8 got a deluxe because it was already a (assuming) good game, but no one played the Wii U. Thats also why theres a high number of games being remastered, because people actually own a switch.
IIRC, the reason why we never got another full fledged single player mode to the degree of Subspace after Brawl was because people would upload the cutscenes for Subspace on TH-cam. As a result, a lot of people weren't playing Subspace because they didn't have to to see the cutscenes, as well as Nintendo not liking that their content was uploaded without their consent. And that really soured Nintendo on doing anything like Subspace going forward.
6:57 Doesn't Nintendo have to pay ShoPro to use that armor? Nintendo didn't use it first, which means it most likely belongs to ShoPro and knowing ShoPro, there's no chance they'd just let Nintendo use it for free. Just because Creatures Inc paid to put it in the card game and Niantic paid to put it in Go doesn't mean Nintendo's willing to do the same.
One idea i actually had for Smash Bros. Singleplayer would be a "Career mode". You would create your Mii Fighter and basically have a hubworld where you can buy costumes, interact with the rest of the cast and be mentored by them in the goal to become stronger/the best. The spirit/event battles would be training exercises and small melee adventure mode stages would be larger tests with a big tournament capping off the story. And after clearing it once you can do it with every other character with a slightly changed introduction to match. Though it would be propably a bit much....
If they do make another smash game, it’ll have to be really different from the original mechanic wise and character wise as a whole new trilogy. My main request is that the Mii Fighters get a classic mode because for some reason, that was never a thing in smash ultimate.
If I was in Sakurai's position and had to take the Smash series forward, I'd do it in one of two ways. (Long comment BTW) 1. I'd just keep adding on to Ultimate. I would personally ditch the fighter pass strategy and just release a fighter pack (character, stage, and music) every 4-6 months and maybe drop a new mode from time to time over the span of a few years. Then the team would take a year break, then continue development again. Then just repeat that whole process for however long Nintendo sees fit. Fans keep getting new content, developers aren't overworked, and Nintendo keeps making money, everybody is happy. If it were ported to a new console, I wouldn't even call it deluxe, and fighters pass 1 & 2 wouldn't be pre-bundled. My reasons for those choices are customer satisfaction and copyright. If a deluxe version were made with all the previous DLC characters already on it, people who bought the original would feel ripped off for buying a product that's now bundled with the game for free. Not having fighters pass 1 & 2 pre-installed in a new port would be more fair to people who bought the original. The other reason is to not have to renegotiate for the rights to characters that are already in the game. I'm not real familiar with copyright laws, but if hypothetically Ultimate and Ultimate Deluxe were legally two different things, third parties (namely square and disney) might try to take their characters out because Nintendo got them into Ultimate, but not Ultimate Deluxe. 2. I'd reboot the series. I'd cut the roster down to 40-50 characters, give older veteran characters entirely reworked movesets to better represent their source material and to better utilize the modern character design philosophy, and the biggest change I would make is making the game 3D to really justify calling it a reboot. TL:DR, Either occasionally add more stuff to Ultimate for years, or make a 3D reboot.
Sakurai still hasn't, and will not, forgive leakers, and his game design reflects this. The reason WoL was the way it was was to prevent Brawl-level leaked cutscenes. At some point, leakers, and leak culture, need to be policed and punished by the fans of video games. ResetEra is the top priority, with Twitter leakers being second to be Thanos Snapped from the fandom.
It's funny how WoL's cutscenes still got leaked, and it got even worse than Brawl since that leak happened after the game got released in japan but Ultimate's happened before the game got released anywhere at all.
While I like the idea of the veterans from 64 to Brawl having some tweaks or overhauls of the moveset which is really concerning now. The series has a problem with nostalgia (repeating the same things) on both sides. Sakurai doesn't want to overhaul old characters cause they don't want the fans get alienated, despite the character X is getting stale or too generic right now. And the fans who likes the current moveset of character X is mostly fans who are competitors (and sometimes casuals) that they hate change of the character X's movesets cause they don't want to mess up their flow and esp. performance of the characters they love. This is the major problem. Sakurai and the fans really needs to take that sacrifice to accept change or never bring back at all.
I dont want the characters to be cut but instead I would like to have unique movesets for each character. I hate the fact that we have Three Links with the same moveset.
honestly one thing is missing from the Single player content that a Content trimming would help is the lack of non-combat content, Smash 64 had Board the Platforms & each level was tailored to that character's own mobility, or you had silly distractions like the Coin Launcher in Brawl or the Street Smash in 3DS; Smash ultimate only has HomeRun contest, & Spirits in which half the Sipirit modifiers can be just turned off entirely
One thing I THOUGH was gonna happen is that the "goon" characters would be a yearly event, each year we get 1 normal enemy from a franchise as a fighter, these characters would not need voice acting, stages or music, but still would be faithful to the original game. All this came to my head when they announced Piranha Plant
I heavily disagree with the inclusion of Waluigi. This would be rewarding all the pissers who sent death threats to Sakurai and the devs. And it wouldn`t stop the discourse, because then they would whine about how "this and that isn`t right" etc.
I’m okay with just getting ultimate again + dlc. Even if that dlc is just a new sub space emissary or something. Ultimate was fantastic and honestly I can’t see much topping it until a few generations down the line.
That's arguably the best outcome, but unfortunately it's also the least likely, because the licensing is a problem (Ultimate almost didn't had everyone, nearly missing Cloud and Snake, and the DLC is even harder to bring back). Sadly, SSBU is a one-off.
@@CuteRedPanda64 I would love if the p3/p4 protag's got in smash 6, but I really doubt it, I'd think one of the new characters from strikers, tactica or P5X comes first, but my money is on Violet as a semi clone, that is if Persona 6 isn't out when Smash 6 comes around.
1) Make Shantae playable. I like the Mii costume and the recent mod with her on top of Zelda, but for people who don't use mods, please include the 1/2 Genie Hero 2) Have the option to use Samus and Zelda/Sheik as combined characters 3) Give Cloud and Sonic more variety in costumes 4) Make ALL Pokemon have a shiny form as an alternate costume 5) Make Greninja's Final Smash a cutscene of his giant golden Water Shuriken from the XY anime. 6) Make Pikachu's Final Smash either it's Z-Move, G-Max, or the Thunderbolt from its battle with Leon and Charizard 7) Give us a story mode that isn't left up to interpretation with character interactions like Subspace. 8) If Ike, Robin, Corrin, Byleth, and arguably Roy are the most diverse of the Fire Emblem representatives. Give Lucina and Chrom something new (while preferably keeping Lucina a high tier) 9) Disney should allow Mickey, Donald and Goofy in Sora's moveset because, to the people who don't know what Kingdom Hearts is, including them could provide more of an idea 10) Have Captain Falcon use that pistol he has on him I'll probably update this more later, but these are some of my personal desires
How do we still not have a victory pose reference video for all the 3DS/Wii U fighters and the Ultimate fighters yet? It's been over a year since he uploaded the Brawl victory pose reference video and we still haven't finished the victory pose reference playlist yet. 🤦♂️ Like this comment if you want him to make a video on the a victory pose reference video for all the 3DS/Wii U fighters and all the Ultimate fighters!
The one thing I would love to be added back is the option to change special moves for each character (there would be 3 options for neutral, side, up and down special attacks), not just the Mii Fighters.
If they did a campaign, it would have to be a significant improvement on Subspace Emissary. I was excited for it at the time, but found it to be a joyless slog. I'd like an improved and built up version of the Adventure mode in Melee.
your opinion aside we can have BOTH a improved melee adventure mode and a subspace emissary sequel that appreases babys who crazily hate the goated platforming levels in subspace 🤣
My only request for a future Smash game is... Give us Phoenix Wright, you cowards! He would be perfect for Smash. An iconic, quirky character with so much potential for a moveset, especially since he was already in fighting games before, and overall, he would be an awesome addition. Like, he was one of my dream characters for Ultimate's DLC. Also, as a last thing, if you people had the chance to change only one Fighter Pass character, what would it be? Despite my rant on me wanting Phoenix Wright, I think I would replace Sephiroth with Dante. The two have the same VA in Japanese, and that is basically the only reason, outside of Aaronitmar mentioning him in his reaction of Sephiroth's trailer.
I don’t think another smash game is gonna happen, at least anytime soon. Sakurai said that smash 4 was gonna be the last smash game shortly after that game came out then gave us ultimate as the final game, hence why every character ever plus insane dlc we’re in the game.
I would honestly love if the next Smash Bros. game was a well-polished HD revamp of the original Smash 64, but with EVERY CHARACTER getting the DLC treatment. Give us Mario with FLUDD, Cappy, the Spin from Mario Galaxy, the WORKS. Just completely remake every characters movesets from the ground up! (Of course if it was _just_ Smash 64 it wouldn't be as impressive, so they would need to increase the roster size a bit... probably prioritizing the most important ones, like the franchise representatives like Pac-Man, Mega Man, Sonic, Villager, Olimar, etc.).
I think that the problem with spirits is the main spirit thing that enhances your stats. I think that you should only have ability spirits with particular abilities usable by each different character, instead of making fights unbalanced. This is also a problem of spirits in multiplayer, like you could make them balanced instead of making some spirits just give you +9000 damage
The spirits' effect on gameplay was clearly an afterthought, they were added mostly to replace trophies, and thus they added over a thousand of them. You can't balance nor make 1000 totally unique spirits.
Plus with Spirits, it would’ve been nice if for each spirit we could’ve gotten a brief description of each spirit on who they are and what franchise they come from just like what they did with trophies before. Just looking at spirits themselves is pretty boring if I don’t personally know the character. If a deluxe edition of Smash Ultimate does come, I hope they can correct that with Spirits.
Regarding single player campaign. I really wish they did something like PlayStation all stars where franchises merge between each other. Like sephiroth possessing Donkey Kong and playing a dk rap version of one wing angel for a boss
Honestly, I kinda want them to reboot Smash completely. It would be nice for older characters to get a complete overhaul and to the see a new game with less focus on quantity and more focus on unique gamemodes. I think the gameplay should still be similar, save for slight mechanic tweaks.
@@MimikyuLoquendero_YT_Oficial Well, Sakurai himself said that the team didn't want to change characters too much in an effort to not alienate returning players. Assuming a "normal sequel" has the usual development team and cycle, then I doubt that would change. Also, Smash bros has had the same gameplay in all of its iterations, so making a new platform fighter that plays differently also wouldn't be a "normal sequel". Essentially, if they did do either of those things, it would be a functional reboot of the franchise. Sorta like Super Paper Mario. Yeah, it was a sequel, but the game design was completely different from its predecessors.
I would love to have a Smash Ultimate Deluxe. Very more deserving tbh. Especially with the amount of fighters, reworking the game would be too much work. When you mentioned Cappy I personally don't think Mario would need such a changed moveset since Cappy is literally from a one off game. I know it's popular but not enough to make a sequel or grab Nintendo more attention. By now we would've had a Cappy reference in Mario Kart.... But yea Smash Ultimate Deluxe ALL THE WAY. Also Master Chief for Smash too yus
I'm pretty sure the license holder or game creator have final say on characters, there design, and whether they get costumes. Sakurai holds the creators in high regard so if Sega wants Sonic some shade of blue then Sonic is going to be some shade of blue unfortunately.
Funnily enough, I had this idea of a single-player campaign called "Spirit Quest," where you play as a Mii saving the spirits of the fighter who have been turned into trophies because their souls were sucked out of them.
In time much, the fighter who have dealt most damage to the killed one can get 1 point. You can set stocks and when you lose all stocks, you automatically lose in the match regardless of how many points you have gained.
3:57 I think they'd keep Robin, or at least one of the three Awakening reps. It's too important of a game for Nintendo and IS to ignore a legacy or spot in the roster.
I would like them to bring back the size difference for the mii fighter. the female Mii fighters to have their own movesets and animation like give them a cutesy, girly animation. And All girl voices, costumes and hats should go to the female Miis. I would rather they gave tge Mii fighters their own original mii costumes like hoodies, high school uniform and a standard mii outfit. or past mii costumes like wii sports, Nintendo land outfit, and Mario kart wii outfit B. NOT deconfirmed character costumes. And for the mii fighters to have a some more special moves and/or battle class
I'm gonna say something people don't like. The series needs a reboot. The "Everyone is here!" shit is so dumb and it lead to Sakurai and team phoning it in. All of the new stages are just different flavors of Skyloft. You know the stage. Where its just Battlefield but the background is just a revolving tour of that particular game. Which is nice but that's not really a stage. What you ended up getting is Sakurai and friend scrambling to build characters that were in essence already made. All with lazy move sets like the infamous down B counter instead of something unique and interest. Sora had nearly 20 years with like 6 different games and they gave him the driest move set imaginable. No more clones and definitely no dumb shit like Steve. Nintendo just has so much to pull from from in their library. Easily so much fat can be trimmed off the roster with clones alone. Personally I think they need the OG line up minus Fire Emblem. If they want FE then for the love of god keep Marth and no clones. No Luci. No Roy or Chrom. Robin and Corrin are unique but their time is over. Alear is also eh....I still can't get over how they made a deviant art OC a main character. But each OG should have one UNIQUE rep. Samus and Ridley are perfect example of this. Samus and her archnemesis. No clones COMPLELY different characters. Ultimately a huge chunk of Ultimate roster needs to go on the back burner. Characters are crux of Smash but are people THAT upset if an obscure clone doesn't make it into Smash. Overall the Roster just needs less bloat and more uniqueness. Especially in move diversity - unique new moves were good also but I guess we can't have that.
10:43 there was a small TH-cam channel called Gaming All-Stars Gmod who literally did something like this for example you would see sonic in the mushroom kingdom
Tbf, I always thought they chose the name "Super Smash Bros." because "Super Mario Bros." was their most marketable IP. Heck, Mario was practically front and center on the original boxart, and the font makes it look kinda like the word "Smash" burst through the other side of a wall that had something else written between the words "Super" and "Bros." Besides, who else writes "Bros." like it's a formal abbreviation for "Brothers" and not "Bro's" or "Bros" like it's an informal shorthand. "Bro" is an informal way to say "Brother", "Bros" is the plural of "Bro", the only times I have ever seen an abbreviation point (.) in the word "Bros." is for these two franchises whose names are only a single word apart!
The main reason Ultimate exist was because it was Iwata's last game he gave to Sakurai to work on before his passing. To honor the legacy of Iwata, Sakurai went all out. Future smash games will be unknown to this day.
Maybe the next game could be Super Smash Bros. Remix, so as to rework characters that desperately need to be reworked to fit the actual characters and games. Samus, Dark Samus, Donkey Kong, updates to Mario, Sonic definitely needs a rework, Big Mac, Ganondorf.... yeah, you get the drift. As for new characters, you listed a lot of good ones. One off-the-wall one I definitely personally want is one oft forgotten. Knack.
1:46 I mean most of those are Wii U games, it's not really in question why they've been doing that and the odds of them doing it for the next Nintendo console is far lower.
No problemo, I'm gonna be working on a story mode based on your request of the story mode you wanted for the next few days, I'll edit it when it's done
new icon! say something nice about it 🔫
Yesnt
It isn't worse than a pfp
It looks nice
A new icon? Huh. Neat.
something nice about it
My primary request for the next Smash game: Make echo fighters more unique.
Problem with Ganondorf is that Sakurai is concerned about the casual fanbase that might be used to Captain Falcondorf and may not want the change.
@@highway2heaven91 If they want to keep the old moveset, they should just add Black Shadow, the main villain of F-Zero.
@highway2heaven91 Screw Falcondorf. I'm not a competitive player, but the Demon King has powers worth so much more than being a copycat F-Zero rep.
@@leohernandez8751 it would need to be on an entirely separate cartridge to work with Ultimate's roster
Or maybe mk styled endings where the characters themselves talk about what happened
I truly appreciate the efforts in making the Smash franchise (specifically in its current state of casual play) as alive as possible. In my personal opinion, I feel that Nintendo's most likely next step is to bring Smash 64 to N64 Online. Ik it sounds kinda watersdown compared to everything said in the vid, but Nintendo is Nintendo.
i thought it was weird pokefloats wasnt mentioned in stages but you gave it a full point as it deserves
Rainbow Road deserves to be in too since it’s a Mario Kart Staple and is a hype final course in a Grand Prix.
One thing I wish Smash Ultimate had which they should bring in the next Smash is the Spirits having description like trophies had that gives us a paragraph of which game it came from. There's over 1000 spirits in Ultimate from series that are long forgotten and it'll be nice to know information about them
Would be pretty cool, but the game is in multiple languages and it'd be a waste in dubbing it
Even Pjiggles made a video calling out Spirits being lame and being PNGs you can just look up in the age of almost everyone having access to the internet.
I agree. The lack of descriptions for the Spirits was a huge missed opportunity.
@@squallleonhart9387I mean the png Point doesn’t hold up well When you realize all the trophies in smash 4 were just Reused from other games
There're 3 things I want to point out that I believe are important:
1:Ultimate almost didn't exist at all in the first place (or at least almost didn't brought back everyone) cause Snake and Cloud almost got out because of Konami and Square Enix respectively, I don't think a port is even impossible if we take into account some DLC fighters and the legal nightmare that would require bringing them back again.
Honestly, I don't think it's a bad idea to reduce the roster in the next Smash
Smash Ultimate was an event in itself, bringing so many different franchises into one place. Even if Nintendo tried, I doubt they could please as much as they did here
However, it would be very interesting to have a Smash focused on Nintendo franchises. A story mode in a game like this could be as epic as Subspace and easier to do
Yeah but I doubt fans would tolerate it. Shrinking the roster even a little from what Ultimate offers would feel like an inherent downgrade.@@mophin
@@Nintendotron64 true, but the roster reduction will happen whether you like it or not, especially if Sakurai isn't working on the next Smash
Smash Ultimate is the kind of thing that doesn't usually happen twice
@@mophinWhy would srank a roster for a mode you only play once?
>Melee ditched Board the Platforms from 64
>Brawl changed Target Test from having character specific target tests
>Smash 4 built upon the online modes Brawl introduced and gave us For Fun and For Glory
>Ultimate got rid of All Star Mode for Century Smash
These are just the few examples
Brawl had all that content and 3rd parties. Sonic needs an actual decent move set
I highly disagree
Maybe it could be Nintendo-focused...at first. Eventually, they could (re)introduce the third-party characters once the foundation is solid enough.
THIS IS FUCKING HORRIBLE
You're just fucking asking for trouble with fans if you do this
People would riot
7:20 I don't think Skull Kid has enough moveset potential to be upgraded to a full fighter. Bomberman _might_ work if you pulled some weird and generally obscure to the mainstream stuff from his franchise's history though. I'm not well-versed enough in that topic to say for certain and forgot most of what I already knew could work. Probably best to leave B-Daman out of his moveset though.
Can’t believe he forgot other popular Assist Upgrades like Krystal, Midna and Ashley.
@@squallleonhart9387 Wonder what an Ashley moveset would look like?
Shadow and Knuckles could work really well as semi clone characters like Luigi and Dr Mario. both could have a homing attack and one spindash with the other attacks being unique to them. They would be some of the easiest assist trophies to upgrade given that their models are similar to Sonic and Knuckles already having some attacks that can be easy to reuse.
A Great Maze Stage but instead of Subspace Levels. It switches through every stage in the game.
Even the first Mario from 1985 still holds up as a solod and fun game.
Mad cause bad
Smash "fans": "WE WANT MORE CHARACTERS"
Also Smash "fans" when getting more characters: "NOOO GAME BAD NOW"
Yeah I mean dlc fighters are OVERPOWERED!
i think the next smash should be focused on customization.
Also, it's most likely that Sakurai won't be directing this game as he's repeatedly said that Ultimate will likely be his last game especially with the amount of work put into it and will pass the torch to someone else who Sakurai trusts to continue the series, but I also think Sakurai could still play some part in the next Smash since he also said that he can't think of anyone working on Smash besides him by being a Supervisor to the game giving approval and advice to everyone so it can be the Smash game Sakurai envisioned which is why it wouldn't be any more perfect than to call the next Smash game if it was a reboot:
*Super Smash Bros. Genesys*
*"so they can give more unique movesets to characters that need them the most such as Samus, Kirby"*
How does Kirby need a better moveset?.
Interesting take, … I don’t hate it.
For a franchise to be represented, it needs at least one game on Nintendo. Halo has 0 games on Nintendo so Master Chief won't join, no matter what
The rest of the choices are really based, especially Doom
@@toumabyakuyaIt's bland and outdated. He needs to incorporate more copy abilities and get new ones for his specials. There's so much potential!

Eh, I don't think so. Not only does it have enough references, but he gets even more of those with his ability to copy other characters.
*"He needs to incorporate more copy abilities..."*
More than he already does?! That would make him way too complicated for no good reason.
*"and get new ones for his specials."*
No, no, no.
Some of my ideas include:
mid-air grabs, every character gets 2 final smashes (1 close-range, 1 long-range), flashier effects, series crossover stages (like a Mario x Zelda stage) with dope dual-series remixes, a true story mode (even if shorter), refocus on Nintendo-first, update all characters to reflect modern iterations.
I could imagine everyone getting a Shield B mechanic to really flesh them out.
A little bit of PlayStation Allstars with the Cross-Over stages. Love it.
@@rhinastocroc-boulet5189 oh wow I didn’t even know that was in PSA haha that’s awesome!!
Why stop at aerial grabs? Let’s throw in Aerial Smash Attacks and Chargable Tilts!
Everything must happen except that dumb idea of a Nintendo-Only roster
Make a final destination that cycles through all of the previous smash game’s final destination backgrounds.
The ultimate final destination.
If we do end up getting the next Smash game, here are some of my things that I want to see:
- *Rollback Netcode*
- *Squad Strike playable online*
- *Play any music on any stage*
- *Remove the dodge system limit and make the airdodge a bit more like Melee*
- *L-Canceling but make it better than it was in Melee*
- *Break the Targets and Board the Platforms*
- *More minigames*
- *Color Customization mode for the characters*
*- Bring back running through opponents*
*- Categorize the stage with separate tabs of smash games they came from*
*- Make Star KOs not so rare*
*- Faster loading character alts or let us save an alt as favorite that automatically loads*
*- On the results screen simply pressing start makes it go faster rather than mashing A*
*- Bring back For Fun and For Glory*
Why bring back l-cancelling when you could just reduce landing lag as it is and make combos a bit easier to do? It's probably the worst melee mechanic because it makes things harder for no reason
Actually, the air dodge was better in Smash 4
I really don’t see a Ultimate Deluxe tbf. A reboot would arguably make more money, have them focus on characters that actually need reworks(looking at Ganon and Sonic for example), and then whatever else they could do. Nothing against Waluigi I just don’t understand the need for him.
The internet seems to think nothing outside of spinoff and memes exist outside of the Mario franchise.
Probably the only one who'd want this only to see how they'd make him fight i'd want Billy from Billy Hatcher.
I would love a deluxe version of Smash Ultimate with new fighters, stages, and a freaking boss rush.
Sephiroth’s classic mode screams boss rush.
Nah, Sephiroth's boss rush doesn't count since he can't even fight Galeem or Dharkon in his classic mode and you still need him if you wanted a boss rush with all characters.
@@luirin_64 What I meant was that they could take Sephiroth's classic mode as a base and add the missing bosses to it.
Oh
If a campaign mode is done, move the Spirit battles from Adventure Mode to an Events Mode. Bring back and add more mini-games (Break the Targets). As for cosmetics, do a similar system to Mortal Kombat 11/1. Default skins and a slot for User Custom.
>Introduces a new concept with echo fighters pre-release
>People are OK because it allows Sakurai to bring in characters easily as long as their moveset can be copypasted from another character
>Literally stops after post release and doesn't mention it at all for DLC and even post-DLC
It’s funny how Melee had the most robust set of clones while it was rushed but with Ultimate they had a lot of time to sprinkle some differences on certain echoes but only did minor differences or not even any, looking a Daisy and Damus.
Dark Samus can be more aggressive than regular Samus and some moves can have a “poison” effect with the Phazon “corrupting” the fighter hit by it (her assist trophy from Smash 4 funny enough has a pretty good base for an updated move set)
Dark Pit can use more weapons from Kid Icarus Uprising like Claws, Clubs and actually use the Dark Pit Staff on his moveset and not exclusively use it in his final smash.
It’s truly not a culmination of the last 20 years without my favorite stage! I miss Poké Floats!
Ahh… satisfying ending
You forgot about rollback netcode lol :C
Great points though!
"There's DK, who's had no significant changes since Smash 64."
So his old clunky dash attack being swapped out for his roll attack from DKC1 and being able to use his down special in the air (both of which were changes made in *Smash 4)* were hallucinations I made up?
Sonic only pulls from Sonic the Fighters in Smash, so yeah he's even missing moves from the Classic games
I'm not even going to bother going over the gem abilities, they don't seem worth mentioning (I mean one of them is literally "Slow" WTF? ).
@@MattwosRandomNonContent i mean i guess some moves kinda resemble Sonic Battle

Not Nintendo it was Sakurai who hate that.
Nintendo is definitely NOT going to make hundreds of character models based on side characters from each games
the Miis are already fighters they don't need any mentors.
Other than that that would be awesome.

5:54 I am that someone. ITS MY MAIN!
i feel like a lot of people suggesting smash ultimate deluxe dont realize just how impossible that would be
If they do make another smash game, it’ll have to be really different from the original mechanic wise and character wise as a whole new trilogy. My main request is that the Mii Fighters get a classic mode because for some reason, that was never a thing in smash ultimate.
If I was in Sakurai's position and had to take the Smash series forward, I'd do it in one of two ways. (Long comment BTW)
Or Sakurai could not be a petty bitch? Nobody else in the video game industry gives that much of a shit.
There always gonna be leak. People have no respect personal space or hard work.

JUST BANK ON THE CROSSOVER ASPECT MAN, IT'S NOT *THAT* HARD-
I hope they bring back trophies and stickers in the next game
honestly one thing is missing from the Single player content that a Content trimming would help is the lack of non-combat content, Smash 64 had Board the Platforms & each level was tailored to that character's own mobility, or you had silly distractions like the Coin Launcher in Brawl or the Street Smash in 3DS; Smash ultimate only has HomeRun contest, & Spirits in which half the Sipirit modifiers can be just turned off entirely
Bring back Boss Rush and Smash Run
All I request for the next game is that the older characters with outdated movesets be given an upgrade
I heavily disagree with the inclusion of Waluigi. This would be rewarding all the pissers who sent death threats to Sakurai and the devs. And it wouldn`t stop the discourse, because then they would whine about how "this and that isn`t right" etc.
Its time to go back to the beginning and update all the characters that have a lot of games to pull content from.
Yeah honestly I could not care less what they do to the next smash game as long as Joker stays a playable character I'll gobble it up.
Maybe we'll get Yu next game.
I like the Mii costume and the recent mod with her on top of Zelda, but for people who don't use mods, please include the 1/2 Genie Hero
2) Have the option to use Samus and Zelda/Sheik as combined characters
3) Give Cloud and Sonic more variety in costumes
4) Make ALL Pokemon have a shiny form as an alternate costume
5) Make Greninja's Final Smash a cutscene of his giant golden Water Shuriken from the XY anime.
6) Make Pikachu's Final Smash either it's Z-Move, G-Max, or the Thunderbolt from its battle with Leon and Charizard
7) Give us a story mode that isn't left up to interpretation with character interactions like Subspace.
8) If Ike, Robin, Corrin, Byleth, and arguably Roy are the most diverse of the Fire Emblem representatives. Give Lucina and Chrom something new (while preferably keeping Lucina a high tier)
9) Disney should allow Mickey, Donald and Goofy in Sora's moveset because, to the people who don't know what Kingdom Hearts is, including them could provide more of an idea
10) Have Captain Falcon use that pistol he has on him
I'll probably update this more later, but these are some of my personal desires
For the Disney gang, wait until they fall in public domain (which will be in some years). In any case, KH can be represented with its own things
I really hope they bring back custom moves from Smash 4
How do we still not have a victory pose reference video for all the 3DS/Wii U fighters and the Ultimate fighters yet? It's been over a year since he uploaded the Brawl victory pose reference video and we still haven't finished the victory pose reference playlist yet. 🤦♂️
Like this comment if you want him to make a video on the a victory pose reference video for all the 3DS/Wii U fighters and all the Ultimate fighters!
We need Glitch from Metal Arms Glitch In the System!!!
I want trophies back
Hell I’ll take spirits but at least give them fun fact descriptions on em like trophies did.
-brawl coin launcher on top-
My only request for a future Smash game is...
They have to get the right to use a third-party character you coward.
I don’t think another smash game is gonna happen, at least anytime soon. Sakurai said that smash 4 was gonna be the last smash game shortly after that game came out then gave us ultimate as the final game, hence why every character ever plus insane dlc we’re in the game.
Easy, make a Deluxe version is the best way to continue Smash Ultimate out of respect for Sakurai because so much work was put into it.
Ultimate is over 4 years old man, a new Smash has got to be in development now
I think Smash is fine the way it is.
It’s starting to feel a bit dated. For example I would really like a Xenoblade 3 character. Leave it to the modders I guess.
@@peterduprey7286Nah, Better put Raven Peak or Bandana Dee
You Make out sound like it so easy to do.
@@INFERNO95 of what?
I'm pretty sure the license holder or game creator have final say on characters, there design, and whether they get costumes. Sakurai holds the creators in high regard so if Sega wants Sonic some shade of blue then Sonic is going to be some shade of blue unfortunately.
Scrapping 90000 characters is a bad and boring idea
Funnily enough, I had this idea of a single-player campaign called "Spirit Quest," where you play as a Mii saving the spirits of the fighter who have been turned into trophies because their souls were sucked out of them.
In time much, the fighter who have dealt most damage to the killed one can get 1 point.
You can set stocks and when you lose all stocks, you automatically lose in the match regardless of how many points you have gained.
>Ass Mad that Corrin isn’t playable
That got a Kek out of me, love when people throw shade on Fire Emblem when you least expect it!
NO.
They should just do a smash 64 remake To show how far the franchise has come
My number 1 pick for a new fighter HAS to be Rayman, it'd be so cool to see him
3:57 I think they'd keep Robin, or at least one of the three Awakening reps.
The only things you would change are the female Miis LMAO
Steve musn't go, he is a great character
10:43 there was a small TH-cam channel called Gaming All-Stars Gmod who literally did something like this for example you would see sonic in the mushroom kingdom
6:33 Ah yes, Because smash bros is a "mario fighting game."
Tbf, I always thought they chose the name "Super Smash Bros." because "Super Mario Bros." was their most marketable IP.
Heck, Mario was practically front and center on the original boxart, and the font makes it look kinda like the word "Smash" burst through the other side of a wall that had something else written between the words "Super" and "Bros."
Besides, who else writes "Bros." like it's a formal abbreviation for "Brothers" and not "Bro's" or "Bros" like it's an informal shorthand.
"Bro" is an informal way to say "Brother", "Bros" is the plural of "Bro", the only times I have ever seen an abbreviation point (.) in the word "Bros." is for these two franchises whose names are only a single word apart!
@@evanvongustav8814 Lol, well you're wrong. Smash bros isn't a game about mario, it's about all video game characters.
The main reason Ultimate exist was because it was Iwata's last game he gave to Sakurai to work on before his passing. To honor the legacy of Iwata, Sakurai went all out. Future smash games will be unknown to this day.
"You just know someone is going to be unnecessarily furious that Corrin isn't playable."
Yes, and that person is me.
No, that person is ME! I will fight you on this!
I like you how included the 3 biggest gaming icons-Mario, Sonic, and MC Steve, in the thumbnail.
Knack.
Honestly my biggest wishes are Cinderace and Zeraora as fighters
Mine is Sylveon
Classic furry answer.
Definitely though I also want meowscarada
1:46 I mean most of those are Wii U games, it's not really in question why they've been doing that and the odds of them doing it for the next Nintendo console is far lower.
Either a subspace sequel would have to be really big, or not at all.
give us different final smashes as in you can keep 3 different final smashes whenever you unlock them
No problemo, I'm gonna be working on a story mode based on your request of the story mode you wanted for the next few days, I'll edit it when it's done
