Im pretty sure that was his response to WEAR the cop was taking him. As in which specific jail. Prob not a close one or… maybe he thought he was just going to police station, and not actual jail. Which is like, oh shit so I’m actually being arrested. Poop. 💩
Lol. Yes! What a weird self snitching way to put it. " snuggled up." Wth. I too would think they're going to die. Or are so intoxicated they aren't in the right frame of mind to judge their injury or get home. They'll die from the elements if they stay snuggled up too long which all adds up to it not being OK to leave them.
Leaving the guy and then pleading not guilty to everything. This 'former marine' is a true no integrity, no accountability, worthless sack of sht. Disgusting...
I can see where you are coming from but I have seen drunk or intoxicated patients walk into the ER (we call it ED, emergency department) with breaks to lower extremities. To say they do not feel pain would be an exaggeration, indeed most felt plenty of pain but they ambulated well enough but every one of them were surprised that they had actually broken something. The victim in this case was not sober and may well of indicated that he was okay. I would not personally have left it at that (having said that I would not be driving drunk) He did leave him wrongly but it was bad judgment as was his decision to drive. I don’t think it was a malicious act to leave him. As for the drink driving I do not feel the penalties are strong enough it should carry the same penalties as involuntary attempt at man slaughter.
Definitely, a similar thing happened to me a few months ago when someone ran a stop sign and hit me while riding my bike. You are in shock to try and relieve your body from pain that you cant think straight.
That happening didn't surprise me since many quad bike / UTV drivers (except for people who actually need them) are idiots since they're very unsafe vehicles in the first place.
Yeah I bet some of the charges won't stick with any decent defense. But I don't understand not stopping and looking at any possible injuries for yourself. That seems to be anyone's obligation which he failed to do here.
Gotta be fair, it was refreshing to hear. I get why he wouldn’t admit he was intoxicated, though. Any lawyer will tell you to say nothing and admit nothing. But given the situation, I don’t know how you could defend against hit-and-run, operating while intoxicated, and operating the UTV on a prohibited trail. Just like the victim, the driver doesn’t have a leg to stand on. Cooperating and being honest was probably a good idea.
If you think about it - He probably truly didn't want to leave him, but was afraid to catch a DUI charge. When victim (in a state of shock) said he's "okay", this guy must've counted his blessings and sped off.
He was obviously already passed out drunk in the woods, on a bridge. These comments crack me up. If the guy said he’s fine, then nothing else to the man, what was he supposed to do? Beg the dude to come with him?

My adopted son got into an ATV accident while he was only 18... He died on impact... Him and his best friend were both drinking and riding ATV's on pavement... Please don't drink and drive any kind of vehicle while driving, you never know what the outcome could be... 😢
Some vehicles are ok when your drunk, like bumper cars. They're pretty much made for drunk driving. And remote controlled cars. They're a blast when drunk, as long as you're in a reasonable place. Row boats aren't too bad when you're drunk, ether. Just wear a life preserver.
I had a neighbor who was paralyzed because he was riding an ATV while drunk. He went over a hill too hard and flipped it and landed on his neck and the ATV landed on him. Instant fracture lifetime paralysis from the waist down. You're exactly right don't drink or drive *any* potentially dangerous vehicle and ATVs are on that list.
I came across what I thought was a bag of rags laying in a busy street on the way to work at 5:00am what was the first day of school. Nope it was a teen who had been hit by a car. He was badly injured with a compound fracture of his lower leg. I blocked the scene with my vehicle and called 911. He told me the driver who hit him backed up and said "you'll be OK" and drove off. He kept trying to get up so he could find his skateboard that was precious to him . Finally others stopped to help and block the road further, I found his skateboard and shoe about 50 yards away. and gave it to him to help calm him as thee was no way he could walk on that leg. About a 2-3 minute response time from Station 77 , Paramedic Ambulance & EMS Battalion Captain, evaluated him, packaged him and transported him to a level 1 trauma center at a local Hospital. Don't know what happened to him or if any investigation ever happened. Welcome to Los Angeles
Having lived in SoCal for 22 years, I guarantee it’s worse here in Wisconsin, and was way worse when I first moved here several years ago. My insurance rates tripled because of drunk drivers, even though I drove less than 100 miles weekly here (I obviously drove way more than that in SoCal 😂). When I finally stopped driving due to disability (progressive terminal neurological disorder), my premiums on a 20 yo Suburban driven less than 6,000 miles per year were $3,600 just for state minimums. This despite being a former driving instructor (semis) with over 1.6 million safe miles (no tickets or preventable wrecks).
The drunk guy said he stopped. According to the cop that was injured guy, he was on the verge of passing out from pain. I don't think that the other guys ever stopped. The guy with the crushed ankle would have been in a world of pain and in need of an ambulance!! Pretty scary place to be helpless in the dark!
Both the driver and the victim said he stopped, so I believe that. He stopped for a moment and went "are you okay?" victim obviously wasn't, driver knew how much s**t he'd be in, left the scene and the victim in the hope he'd get away and not be identified. So still classed as a hit and run, and a massive, tower sized DI*k move! He didn't care about leaving the victim out there with a crushed ankle and foot. I'm sure he was also worried about having to pay for the mans medical care. So he stopped briefly, then took off, according to the victim and the driver.
Dump of adrenaline when you think you're going to die will keep you from feeling anything. got in a BAD motorcycle accident, got right back up, walked off the side of the road, and was more concerned about my bike than really hurting, just felt kinda bumped up. it wasn't until i tried to unbuckle my helmet and couldn't move my fingers that i realized i'd shattered my hand. Turns out i shattered my hand, shoulder, and fractured both of my heels from hitting the ground so hard.

It’s possible that he also noticed the chainsaw in the back of ATV (mentioned by the driver to officer). 😧 If injured and fearful, I may have acted similarly since there were *NO witnesses around.* I would’ve tried smiling and waving them on, to then call 911 after they were out of sight. I'd love to have a few cops try the drunk tests on sober people and see how they do. It would need to be a cop, because their presence can make one unsteady.
You are not required to do field sobriety tests. In fact many lawyers have advised against doing them because cops will use them to try and prove you were impaired, even if you weren't. If you are sure you are sober you should immediately request to do a breath, urine or blood test and skip field sobrietys as to not implicate yourself by any perceived missteps by the officers.

Ankle injuries and breaks can be brutal with long-lasting limitations on mobility.
Right now (or a few months ago, given that the trial date has passed), the defense attorney and the prosecutor are working out a plea deal. I doubt this went to trial. That’s the game: hit the defendant with maximal charges so you can knock off some charges for a guilty plea. The defense is thinking about the penalties and how to minimize them. The number of charges is not as important because the penalties (jail time) usually run concurrently. This case is going to be tough on the defense, because everything seems pretty clew cut.
@AlWorth9738 Because cyclists can be intolerably arrogant, like motorcyclists. I say this as both a cyclist and motorcyclist. TroisKayas is on point. You gotta check your behavior too. Pedaling your way on 2 wheels doesn't automatically make you better than "just about" everyone else nor award you special authority over the highway. The pigheadedness involved in riding side by side to intentionally block traffic simply because "we're here and ain't moving!" is akin to brake checking, except it's a hell of a lot more dangerous outside of the suburbs. It's the sort of thing that gets us killed. I almost plowed through a couple taking a Sunday ride on a rural road doing this very thing as I was coming around a blind corner while taking a Sunday drive in my truck. This is why we are, contrary to popular belief, legally obligated to pull over to the side and allow faster traffic to pass regardless what we're driving or riding. Your kids can't play in the middle of the road and neither can you. Impeding traffic is extremely dangerous and illegal. Just as dangerous as not giving a cyclist ample room while passing after the smart ones move out of the way. Be aware, be courteous, be respectful, be decent, be safe. Don't be an ass. It has a price on the road.
@AlWorth9738 I wish more cyclists would follow traffic laws, if you're on the road it doesn't matter if you're on a bicycle, a motorcycle, a golf cart or whatever, you still need to signal turns, stop at red lights/stop signs, yield, etc. I also really don't like it when a cyclist is riding at night and they're wearing dark clothes with no high-viz clothing or anything or even no reflectors at all, I've had it happen before where there was a guy riding right down the middle of a state route at night, no streetlights at all wearing a black hoodie and all of his reflectors were busted, the only reason I saw him in time was because the moon was full that night and I could see his shadow. Like c'mon dude I don't want to run you over at least put on a bright colored hat/helmet.

Driver & victim, drunk.
The man who got his foot run over was in shock no doubt. The driver is an ass for leaving him there.

Turns out i shattered my hand, shoulder, and fractured both of my heels from hitting the ground so hard.
No, the victim confirmed that the men did stop, spoke briefly, then drove off. While mustache driver feared being caught driving drunk on a “no ATVs” trail, the helpless victim may have, understandably, been *very afraid of the two men.* He’s severely hobbled and on a dark, rural trail and might’ve feared being killed and dumped in the woods by two large, intoxicated men…to never be seen again. It’s possible that he also noticed the chainsaw in the back of ATV (mentioned by the driver to officer). 😧
If injured and fearful, I may have acted similarly since there were *NO witnesses around.* I would’ve tried smiling and waving them on, to then call 911 after they were out of sight. In the days without mobile phones, this helpless victim would’ve needed to take his chances with two strangers who are already breaking laws and have the upper hand…in remote country woods. 😬

Yes, but the victim likely waved him off because he had a phone to call 911. He doesn’t know the drunk men and doesn’t want to potentially “disappear” in the rural woods. While helpless, he did the safest thing by downplaying his injury until trusted help arrived.

Pleading not guilty doesn't mean you're pleading innocence.

@@TroisKayas Yup! This right here. They bring it on themselves. Get out of the way. Arrogant m'fers
Who fucking bicycles in the dark past midnight on a walking trail? His bike didn't belong there either. Looks like a bloody hobo to me. No sympathy for the drunk driver and very little for the cyclist. Two idiots playing dumbass games in the dark.

You’re right. This guy is not representative of the Marines. He’s probably lying about serving or got kicked out. A pos for sure.
This is an incorrect statement
The Navy and Coastguard don't mention leaving no man behind in their creeds. In the Army, our creed states never leave a fallen comrade.

Mumbling mustaches Batman, what a couple of 'winners'. Gotta love the part about 'I know I'm not supposed to ride here, but it's something I like to do'. He told the passenger he thought he saw a bear. I guess back then circuses had bears riding bikes...😁

Prosecutor be like: Charge him with everything
The suspect has the whole 'friendly grandpa' act down pat. The scary part is someone like that is capable of something as heinous as a hit and run while drunk on an UTV.
Even has most of the grandpa "look" about him with the mustache and the glasses.
The fact that you included the rap artists names and the fact the officer was blasting it on his radio just adds something else to this video 😂

About a month ago I broke my fibula, it’s above the ankle bone.
Breaking anything near the foot and ankle is an *intense* pain.
Enough to make you vomit.
You go into shock.
I could barely breathe let alone talk for the first 10 minutes.
There’s absolutely no way they didn’t just ditch him.
These guys are the scum of the earth.
I hope he presses charges, it is *NOT* a cheap recovery.
I crushed my ankle over 20 years ago. Ruined my very active life. 3 surgeries plus 6 mons of pt. I can't ride a bike, run, surf or even squat etc. When you crush a joint there is no getting back to the way you used to be.
Can confirm, had a vertical fracture of the distal tibia, injuries like that make one realize how many moving parts an ankle has. It's on par with tooth pain.
I sprained my ankle running and fell to the ground immediately grabbing my ankle. Holy fuck that hurt
@@Trey-f9t Can confirm. Had an incomplete vertical fracture of my distal tibia, it no longer has full freedom of motion. Healed wonky. This was years ago, and I remember it was miserable. Not as bad as a double fractured collar bone but yeah, miserable. I wish you a speedy recovery and please, PLEASE do not test it. When it feels good again, you baby that ankle for another two months. It can feel ok and not be ok, and it doesn't take much to fuck it up and end up with excessive scar tissue or other problems.
I simply dislocated my left small toe, and I was in agony for 12 hours until it popped back in. I can't imagine a crushed ankle.
WOW That's a lot of charges for that accident. I hope the cyclist has recovered and his bike repaired. Good video.
Seems like exactly the right amount of charges

Wow, he pleaded NOT guilty to all charges. The nerve of this guy.
That way he can bargain with the prosecutor and get some of the charges lowered or dismissed it's commonly done.
Yes, if you plead guilty you can’t plead your case, if you plead not guilty you can try to plead your case… often lawyers advise the consequences of this and why it’s better or worse for your particular situation. Is it normal for these people to be doing this at night in the pitch black? Lmao so strange
No its not normal to drunk drive a vehicle on a walking trail in the middle of the night. Dude obviously knew he was doing wromg so tried to skip the real roads where he would get caught more easily. He ran over a person. He crushed their ankle then left them alone on a bridge out in the wilderness at night, that is abhorrent psychotic behavior. Very not normal.
It’s wisconsin, what else is there to do there!? Perfectly normal.
You have no idea the debauchery that goes on at night there
@@jessyvalentine7492 But the victim waved him off because he had a phone to call 911. He doesn’t know the drunk men and doesn’t want to potentially “disappear” in the rural woods. While helpless, he did the safest thing by downplaying his injury until trusted help arrived.
The driver was scummy for not immediately calling 911 to report the accident, but he was obviously trying to avoid charges for drunk driving on a prohibited trail. While it may seem “psychotic”, it’s very typical of most intoxicated drivers who downplay their involvement.
If you watch more of these body-cam arrests, you’ll soon realize that this driver is actually more polite and sane than so many others. That’s a disappointing realization, actually. 😔
Its normal.
@jessyvalentine7492 he's not psychotic, Jesus Christ. His fight or flight response kicked in and he booked it. He is a douche for leaving the guy there, but a drunk driver will try getting away most of the time.
