Definitely appreciate the "hide and seek" test to search for them in the rough, but you had to expect a similar result as with regular balls😄 I'm curious if they're any easier to see in light rough along the fairway. Too often am I losing balls in THOSE circumstances and it is incredibly frustrating, especially if it was a solid shot.

@@SiFiFreak For me it's not a matter of losing sight of them in flight, instead it's locating them after they land. Especially those shots where you hit something great or even decent and you just can't seem to find it even though you swore you saw where it landed..

Tee the ball perpendicular to the fairway and parallel with the clubface. The last thing you want to do is hit a ball on the seam. By setting the ball up so you impact the logo, you'll be hitting dead center on the most consistent part of the ball.

I’ve played these balls in practice rounds for a couple of weeks, you hit all the highlights:
1- they can be hard to find, especially if it lands red-up, lost one in the middle of the fairway!
2- they’re great for putting, but in a game when it lands “off” alignment green side, it bugs me that I can’t align it for chipping or putting off the green 😬
3- I agree, it’s nearly impossible to line these up off the tee box, I purposely put them solid up, but it is cool to see the ball “flashing” as it flies away 😂
4- I think the matte finish scuffs a little more personally, which is ok but worth noting
Overall, they’re great balls, especially for training. I still like just the regular Qstar in white for most occasions otherwise. Good ball for a good price.

I have to say that I tried these balls and before watching your video just thought I hit the balls better (never even read the box) but I could see a difference in distance. I do love these balls, I dont line puts up and Like you see one colour on the tee. I just love the feel and its just fun!

I bought a dozen of the blue/yellow. I did lose one inexplicably in the light rough just off the fairway, probably because the blue side was up. When teeing them up I have them where I only see the yellow. I like how when they're hit they kind of flicker which makes them a bit easier to see. And of course lining them up on the green is a benefit. All in all I really like them.

I bought a dozen when they first came out and had the same issues with them as you are experiencing. I use them now to practice my putting stroke at home and at the course. You definitely know when you put a good stroke on the ball. Great video Rick, keep them coming.

Newbie here and loving all things golf! My number one question is,...where does one focus on the ball when hitting it? Top?Side?Middle?Ground? Silly question but have tried different focus points and have different results. Thanks for your sharing your knowledge on your channel,..helps me a lot!! I'm a lefty if that helps.

I have switched to the Z Star XV Divide for multiple reason. I'm a retired engineer so I can over analize things a bit but here it is worth noting. Softness and spin to me is the same as the Titleist AVX ball. Big thing is the white/yellow color and here is why. Blue is the hardest color for your eye to see and follow, on overcast days a white or blue diappear into the sky. Red and Orange are hard to see in high grass and impossible during the fall season. Finding the ball in rough even high rough is easier NOT THATCH when the ball settles down like in this video. The other benift is it is extremely easy to follow in the air esspecially on over cast days. With the white and yellow to almost looks like the ball is flashing in the air, hard to miss it. Last is sound and feel, there is no question when you hit a solid shot and can feel how fast the ball leaves the club face. After trying them for three rounds I only lost two balls (not much to say when you put it in the water). I went back to the store and bought 8 dozen once they had them in stock and saved $15.00 per dozen over the AVX. A fair amount of people I play with are seniors with average to poor eye sight and play all yellow balls, this ball is a game changer and my ball stands out in the crowd. Off the tee I always have the yellow half up.

I tried a dozen of these fishing bobber balls... and really liked them around the green, my only concern was the color options.. If they had a yellow/lime green I might would switch over to them, but the colors they choose, if any of them land with the yellow down, it makes them a bit difficult to spot off the fairways.
another issue is when playing the ball down, they lines on the ball being in any direction from the lie can be frustrating.. I might play these again when winter rules are in effect, but outside off the tee box and the greens, the stripes on the ball aren't pleasant to look at unless you can place the ball like you want it.
The feedback on drivers and irons during flight from the tees is also really great. you can really see if you are spinning the ball off center... but like you said, it doesn't look right lined up with the driver, and I found myself hiding one color entirely from my perspective.. so it ended up being something that wasn't entirely useful in practice..

Greetings from New Brunswick Canada. I play Srixon golf balls and I must say I did like the Divide and it had it's pros and cons but I think I have ended up just liking the Q-Star Tour in white. I still have some Divide balls and I may actually tee one up tonight but not always my go to ball. Thanks for the great content.

I switched to these a couple months ago and I love them. The putting alignment is great but i really love hitting a wedge shot and seeing the spin. Also Blue in yellow is the way to go. Never a question what ball is mine.

In my younger days I gamed the Ping two tone ball, until it was no longer available. When you tee it up put one color forward and one back; the pro told me to try and drive the back color into the front, that tip actually helped with the smash!!

Hey Rick. Great review again. I wondered if and when you were going to evaluate these "new" balls. As always, you covered all of the questions I had on my mind regarding aligning these balls throughout the various golf shots. Very interesting. Since I've never really liked nonwhite balls, I don't think I need anymore colors and alignment thoughts going through my mind when hitting a golf shot. I'll stick with a line on a white ball, but I will try to hit a few of these on the range. Thanks

I've been playing with these Q-star tour balls but in regular white for a little while and I like them. Pretty good feel and spin and good distance. After your review of the divide version I think I'm just going to stick with the white ones though.

So I found one of these balls while playing a round last weekend. On tee shots turn the line perpendicular to your shot, so one color forward and one back. I golf but maybe a few times per year if that, and aligning the ball this way allowed me to really focus my eyes on the back of the ball from the tee, and the front of the ball for irons/chips. I consistently drove about 30yrds further than normal for the 12 holes I played with this ball…until I lost it of course.
FYI, blue and yellow is fairly hard to find

I bought a sleeve to test out for myself. All around it was a good ball. Lining up putts and seeing the spin on other shots are great visual aids. Off the tee the multi colour didn’t distract me. If I line it up on the tee, I use it horizontally to a square face.
Only complaint is the blue side is a little hard to see in the rough in the shadows… which with my game is bound to happen at least once or twice a round.

Been playing them for about 4 or 5 months now, and I will be play of them as long as they are being made. Here’s why:
(Pertains to the entire Srixon Q Star Tour line).
      1. Perform just as well as the Pro V1, in all aspects.
      2. More durable than the Pro V1.
      3. $17 (USD) cheaper than the Pro V1!!

Great review!! I love Srixon balls and considered buying these. But to your point about having trouble lining up tee shots seeing both colors, this is a huge problem when the ball is in play since you're playing the ball as it lies, and enough to be a deal breaker for me.

I’ve used them once or twice before and I actually line the ball up opposite to how he was on the tee. I do it perpendicular to the fairway rather than in line. It helped me a ton.

Ok so I split a dozen of the yellow/Orange with a buddy and I have to say, They were really good for me today. They fly off the driver and stick pretty good on approach shots and they are pretty cool to watch the ball spinning in flight. I am gonna give them another play tomorrow to see if the feelings hold after 2 rounds. I am a 4.9 Handicap and have been playing only Maxfli tour green matte for the last 2 seasons

I love the way they look and perhaps they would be easier to see as they enter the rough or the woods than a pure white ball. However on the green I have found even using balls that I mark I spend additional time fussing to make sure the mark lines up with my intended line. And then I hit it someplace else anyway since the line is never perfectly lined up.

  • @jordanwright5289
    @jordanwright5289 3 ปีที่แล้ว

Played these today, and actually I really really really liked them. Needed 3 reallys there... However I lined them up sideways off tee where the line is pointing towards me. That way I could make sure I'm lining my club up squarely. Watching them fly is ultra satisfying. Nice and soft on and around the green. And lining it up is obviously great but better within 10-12 feet like Rick said. A little imagination out side of 12 feet was still good but I found myself maybe being to reliant on the line I was making with the ball rather than I reading the line itself. I wouldn't say my drives got any longer than usual. Typical distance for me, but felt like I was able to find the fairway more for some reason. Possibly the ball off the tee. I dunno I just worked for me. I'm a 12 handicapper and shot an 71 net today. I was pleased my score, and felt pretty confident using those balls. I'll be buying more for sure.

I've played at least 30 standard white Q Star Tour's this season (all of them have been lost 😒) and I honestly like them more than a Pro V1, mostly down to the price difference. They're about 25% cheaper than the top of the line Titleist or Taylormade and they're just as good.
I was hoping for a positive review and feel reassured why I like these balls 😁

I've been playing with Srixon Q-Stars for the past two season so when I saw these come out this spring I had to buy a dozen of them. I love the line on the ball for putting, but unlike you, I use it off the tee. I love when I pure a drive right down the middle and you see the line is just perfectly straight thru the flight of the ball..I also found they are more difficult to find in deeper rough with miss hits too! Great ball tho! I have the Red/Yellow

Still playing the AD333 Tour and I like them, good feel, spin and distance but I'm soon out of them and will probably move to the replacement Q Star Tour. I play white balls and don't use any alignment aid, just clean it, put it down, read it and put a good stroke on it.
