    I played 27 holes with this ball last weekend and I'll say that if found my new ball. I love the feel and it really shows a miss hit with the putter. Also it's cool to see the spin coming out of the bunker. I'll be replacing the tp5x with this for sure.

      I have done a bit of testing with practice putting at home and I am am close to the same decision. It feels awesome off the putter face. I have to wait a bit longer to get it onto the course. But my TP5x balls won't be replaced after I lose em lol

      I found purple jeans and I'd say I found my new pants. It really shows the bulge in my crutch. When I fart, a purple haze comes out and I can feel the density. It's cool to see my shoes as they are skin tight with no flares. I'll be replacing my blue jeans with this for sure.

      I’d assume the yellow part helps with making sure the ball is straight when putting as well? I know a lot of times when using the normal lines, you can line it up and the ball isn’t flat

    i had my first round with this ball yesturday and i loved it! I shot my lowest ever score at my club, breaking the 80 barrier for the first time. Im not sure hom much the line helped, but it feels as good as a TP5 to me. My one criticism would be the colouring can be camouflage if you find some slightly longer stuff, but i wouldnt be suprised if some other colour variations were already in the pipeline.

    I tried one last week, with the orange stripe, mate gave me one. I had no issues with the stripe on the fairway, found it easy enough in the rough as well. But I really liked the feel of it. Felt great of all the clubs and felt great putting it. The line was great on the tee and lining up putts. So good I bought a dozen the next day.

  • @jervid8841
    @jervid8841 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    I played the ball last Sunday for a full round. Off the tee and open fairway, the stripe was weird at first. After a couple holes, it was no longer a distraction. I bought it for lining up my putts and that is where it shined! It really helped me all around the greens. $40 a dozen and it's my new ball.

    I've been playing the Tour Response for months. It's a great ball for the money but when I use a Pro-V1, I have longer drives and a slightly better score. Could be coincidental that I am just playing better that day, but thought I would share. You can't go wrong with the Tour Response.

    I played 18 with this ball last weekend. It feels amazing. Great performance. However, I think they need to keep an eye on quality control. I had several balls with what I assume was urethane drip. Not sure how greatly it would effect, but the ones that had it, had 5 to 6 drops square in the middle of dimples.

  • @brianf338
    @brianf338 2 ปีที่แล้ว +4

    I used to use a line on my ball and just like you said I would either line it up wrong on the green or it would distract me if it wasn’t aiming at the hole on the fairway. Played so much better with a solid color ball. Love the vids man keep it up

    5 months of the year in Ireland and England November to March most if not all parkland courses are lift clean and place. So you could essentially use it as a winter ball and help improve and align your set up for those winter months.

    I wanted to mention a point while I'm watching @Rick Shiels. Even when the line on the ball is pointing in an awkward direction, (5:40) because there is still some kind of marking to go by, once you line up your shot and know where you want to hit on the ball, the lines still help you keep that spot. Hope that makes sense. Just wanted to put that perspective out there, they seem great so far, can't wait to see the results.

  • @oboecoe
    @oboecoe 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    I bought a dozen of these over the weekend and played with them on Sunday. My score didn't improve dramatically with these balls, but I felt SO MUCH MORE confident putting. Something about that line and knowing that you've hit a perfect putt when it doesn't wobble is so satisfying and confidence boosting. I didn't notice too much of a distraction when the line was "off" on my fairway shots either. The TaylorMade Tour Responses have been a favorite of mine the last couple years, so this is just another feather in its cap when it comes to choosing a ball.

    Rick, thank you for another great video. I have put a homemade stripe on mine for years. On the green and tee box it helps a ton because I swing right handed bit have a left dominant eye. So my perspective and line up could be off without the aid. On the fairway it was at first a little uncomfortable but over time morphed into a benefit because I concentrate on different aspects of the shot instead of just the ball.
    Thanks again

    Probably worth mentioning that this ball is also available in an all-white version as well, so if the neon full stripe is off-putting that much but you are looking for this ball purely from a cost-to--performance standpoint then you can still have all the same benefits apart from the potentially difficult full stripe version. Cost is the same from what I have seen.

    I love golf balls like this. I struggle sometimes with swinging too far from the outside, so on a challenging day with driver if I point the line a little bit right it just helps serve as that last second reminder to swing a little more from the inside.

    I never use ball markings to line up putts, but I do love watching the spin on half/half colored balls and others with bold markings. Only going to use markings for line up on the tee if my target is at a big angle to the tee box.
    AS many have noted, lining things up can slow things down-especially when you change your mind about the line after your initial "setting". That's why I quit and simply play the ball. I found myself standing over putts where the line had changed in my mind making the initial line-up incorrect. Now it's always a round ball and the target and stroke are all I have to focus on.
    Just bought three dozen of these because they test out with good quality of production numbers.

    Have used the new version since release... love the stripe on the green..no issue in fairways lining up..but also the green and white can look slightly camouflaged.. especially when dormant Bermuda is waking up... would like to see an orange striped version.
    But performance wise.. works for me.. my ball of choice.

    Your review is spot on. I tried some of theses balls recently and like the feel along with control. My only downside is since the stripe is greenish it can tend to be a bit difficult to locate is areas where the grass is similar in color. I would prefer a different color of stripe.

    I like the feel of the TP5 much more (on the green in particular...much softer feel) but if the price of the tour response is in your budget, it's still a very playable ball. I oftentimes play the tour response if I'm playing a new course that has a lot of hazards...I don't feel like paying $50+ to play then lose $50 worth of balls lol

    The critical variables for straight flight of a golf ball is having the club face squared to the target at the moment the compressed ball releases off the face. The thing many don’t take into account is the slight change in face angle relative to target as the ball compresses and releases which with ideal swing mechanics will put some degree of hook spin on the ball if the face is aligned square behind the ball at address. For a golfer with good swing mechanics to hit dead straight shots they need to set-up at address to strike the ball with a slightly open face to anticipate the dwell time and angle. The better the golfer gets at staying in balance - which allows them to swing more forcibly to the point of optimal ball compression - the more the understanding and compensation for the compression/release dwell angle needs to be incorporated into their set-up. When using a ball with an alignment line the line should be set to point right of the target line a few degrees with the face open the same amount at impact if dead straight ball flight instead of a controlled, predictable push-draw is the goal.

    I played 9 holes with this ball last Friday and I haven’t hit my driver better in 25 years, I hit all 6 drives long and straight, I absolutely love this golf ball. Ild normally line my titleist pro v1 using the titleist letting as my line, then aim that down the middle but the taylormade ball with that stripe makes it a lot easier.

      I wonder if it comes down to whether or not you use markers on the ball on your tee shots. I have tried it but typically do not and as a result, I don't think lines pointing in weird directions have ever thrown me off. Maybe this one would be different though.

    I ordered a dozen of these to try because the idea of that line is really interesting but to your point....after you hit the shot off the tee or fairway and the line is pointing in a random direction instead of where you want might be a bit bothering. I am going to give it a few rounds and see what I feel after, but even if they don't workout on the golf course they will be great putting aids on the practice green or at home.

    I like what he said about lining up the ball on some putts but not on others. Personally I like to use a line when I’m hitting a putt that I want to hit straight at the cup or just off the edge. On longer putts with lots of break I like to play more feel so setting the ball the other way would help there.

    Been using Srixon divide in winter pairs and has been really useful. It’s a good ball anyway (Q star) and both me and partner who typically use different balls have found we can both play well. In winter it really helps locate ball in rough etc and that can help in match play if opponents white ball hidden in frost somewhere. It also oddly seems to put opponents off a little. Just bought some of these for my two lads for putting practice and it really helps for juniors to line up the line with the hole.

    Your first drive at 8:18 - This is the camera angle that truly shows the driver swing (of course in my opinion). Be Better Golf had a video that showed, I believe, Rory from this angle - it was rather eye opening. From what I gather, the video was taken down - perhaps it was because of the angle? Unless I'm blind or having a severe lap of memory this angle isn't shown in the media

    Been using the ball for the past 2 rounds. I have come to like it a lot. Off the tee I can see by aiming line, fairways we pick, clean, and place so it helps there as well. From the putting aspect it helps me know if I mishit the putt or misread the line. Overall, a great ball with some added aiming aids built in. Use them if you want but the ball itself is a good mid handicapper ball.

    I have been playing the Calaway golf balls for years and a couple years ago started using the trple track Chrome Soft Calaway. I decided to give this Taylormade Tour Response ball yesterday. I enjoyed putting this ball quite a bit but I have to say I was 15 yards shorter with my driver and it felt "heavier" coming off the face of my driver. I hit it 5 times on holes where I need my drive off the tee and I also hit my triple track. I was always longer with the triple track than with the Tour Response. It did feel pretty good with my irons. The only place I prefered it though was putting with it. I will be keeping the triple track in my bag. Thank you for the review though. I appreciate your honest opinions.

    Here in Spain, we play puck and place on every fairway shot (something I’ve only just learnt). Hence we can line up the ball except in rough or sand. Might be interesting to try. I like the TP5 and TP5X but am currently using the Pinnacle Rush which for I love and is virtually half the price.

    Great video! I can't play the stripe but I love the tour response golf ball. I used to play the TP5X but I made the switch recently to Tour Respnose, and won't look back. The cost difference for the same and in some cases better feel was worth the switch!

    Glad you are reviewing these because I just bought a box. I enjoyed using them as well, but I agree...I think they are best on the green for putting really. Unless you are like me and my dad, and we line it up regardless of whether we are in the fairway, rough or on the green haha.

    In Australia, these are currently retailing for the same price as the TP5/TP5x. I love the stripe idea as I apply a line to my golf balls anyway. Could be well worth a try.

    Have not tried this version (cannot get my mind to consider anything but a white ball) but I have tried regular Tour Response balls that I got on sale. They were very good, especially at the even cheaper price. Thank you for the awesome review!

    Found one of these and loved lining it up on the tee. Won’t line it up on green as I tend to overthink the line then. Just bought a dozen. Cool colours😅

    I weirdly find the stripe helpful even on the fairway when it’s misaligned with my target, because it’s at least still a consistent point of reference.

    Can you do a video on how to read the grain of the greens and fairways?

    Played one round with these. I found that if I was able to put my hands on the ball to align it, it was great. If not aligning it (fairway, rough), it was easy to just ignore the stripe - pre-shot routine takes over.

    Triple track is awesome! it has the science behind lining up the ball as well.

    Whichever helps me find the golf ball the most & soft to the feel of my liking, that’s the ball I play, it doesn’t bother me if colors are mixed, whichever saves me from losing works for me. As I’ve lost perfectly white golf balls in the fairway

    I just tried them and I love them. I align my tee shots and putts, so it is great for that. Very nice urethane cover. Good spin. Feels great off the face, particularly on pured iron shots. The yellow part does start to fade but it is barely noticeable after a few rounds with one ball.

    Great putting aid. I hope they come in different colours for the stripe. The yellow blends with the thick stuff a bit too much. I hate playing the yellow balls because of that. Especially in the Autumn.

      I was using a Callaway ball that was red. I wisely played it on a course lined with apple trees in the fall.

      The TaylorMade Tour Response golf balls are the ball I play. I dont have the new strip version of them but I do have ones without the strip in my bag and love everything about them. To me this is the perfect ball for my game. I would love to try the new strip version out but at the moment I dont need any new golf balls. I dont play much and still have some good and in shape Tour Response balls in my bag that are still playable and will still perform great. Happy golfing to you!

    Over thirty years ago Ping introduced a two colored golf ball, half red, half white as one of several color combinations. I liked it for alignment and seeing how true you hit your putts. If you hit the putt square you could see clearly each side of the ball as it rolled to the hole. Ping stopped selling them after a few years.

    I have played a couple of rounds with this ball. The durability is fantastic. I played with the same ball for 36 holes and I reckon it will go another 18. Great off the club and soft off the putter. And visually fantastic. Although a little hard to find in the rough depending on how it lies. But all in all my new favourite ball

    I think that's there is great merit to the pronounced line. It is a great training aid. I do, however, think that the line becomes the only focus. I like using the line squared the other way to guide my club face orientation, which i can't do with the normal thin centre line. As someone who balls with the face coming through misaligned, this helps loads! Putting it promotes confidence. And with with durability and soft feel. It's the future for the mid handicapper.
