    Thank you for sharing! Especially the body filler technique and the fact that you shared your knowledge of sand paper grit size by doubling it at each stage. Love it! Thanks you!

    I use a NIB file, or use a single edge razor blade and wrap a bit of tape around each side leaving only a small spot in the middle of the blade exposed.

    I PUT MASKING TAPE ON BOTH SIDES OF THE RUN THEN SHAVE IT WITH A SINGLE EDGE BLADE. AND USE THE 3M WET SANDING BLOCK KIT

    I don't often get a run in my paint but if I do I use a hair dryer to push the run to the egde and get rid of it that way ;-)

    temperature can also affect whether you get runs or not since paint doesnt dry in the cold as fast

      I can tell when the seasons change. In the summer I have to hammer it on. 110 degrees with 90 percent humidity. When it starts cooling off I'll start getting runs. Have to dial it back and go to smaller tips. When its really cold 40 50 it'll look OK then when you make it back around for the next pass 20 30 mins later it start running. Take it easy in the winter and do a thin tack coat. And I'll use a heating pad to heat the paint and hardners on

    Well thank you so much for explaining this properly, i had major runs on one side because that side of my trunk lit had been sitting in the sun,so today i spend a couple of hours applying putty and sanding it down with 320 wet,and it's almost entirely gone,just need to finish off tomorrow with the 320 untill it's completely flat and then starting to work my way up in sandpaper to remove the scratches and then safe some money to buy a polisher and some buffing compound.So big thanks again, it's my very first paint job at home and the results are quite amazing,i'm doing all this with a lvlp gun, and i can highly advise this type of gun for anyone starting out.👍✌️👉

    While the clear is wet, lay a piece of tape on the run, run your finger over the tape where the run is then pull the tape off, wait for the clear to flash some. Put some more clear on then the next day all you have to do is cut it a little and buff. Good as new 👌

    Forgot about residue on the substrate. Sometimes it's inevitable. Humidity plays a big part in runs as well. I'm spraying right now at work. Industrial painting, no "paint bay" or climate/humidity control in oily greasing beams of steel. It happens.

    I have runs in my paintjob but I believe they come from the paint itself. Can u use the same method to get them out? (And most likely will have to repaint it) or is their no way. I also have "fish eye" and "orange peel" problems

    • @JamesSmith-lt5zz
      @JamesSmith-lt5zz 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Paint runs probably isn't the paint. You could be over thinning it. But the paint can't run unless to much product is applied. Fish eye is because the surface is contaminated with oils or silicones or something. Use wax and grease remover and wipe down the piece before primer or if no primer before painting. You'd be surprised how much dirt is on something that looks clean. That will help with a smooth finish as well. Use a paint strainer and filter your paint. Orange peel is to much pressure not enough paint. To much air pressure in general or to much paint not enough pressure. And to far away from the panel. Good rule of thumb is 7 inches back 7 inch fan. Thumb and pinky like youd making using them as a fake phone and use that distance from you to the panel and that distance as the size of your fan. Your first coat. Spray a light tack coat. It can be semi transparent. You want to give the first medium wet coat something to bite to. 5 to 10 mins is enough time in the summer. 15 to 20 in cooler months between coats. And if your using a spray gun. Add a little thinner to your paint. It'll help it flow and gloss. You don't need as much in summer as the paint thins from heat. But always add a little bit. Horizonsl panels use 50-60 percent over lap. Flat panels 75-80 percent overlap. Most hvlp guns use about 2 bar 29psi some more or less depending on my factors. Some guns run on 18 or 22 psi. Lvlp guns. I've seen some hvlp guns that were actually lvlp guns

    Lol “sand without touching the area around the run” > sands the entire side of the panel. Lmao

    • @igorposlin173
      @igorposlin173 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Well you do have to fether it out, can't just sand one spot and polish it afterwards, it will leave a indentation

    So its actually 320G is close to P400 and P500 paper ?

    When you need to sand the run off instead of using filler couldn’t you just use painters tape?
