I’d say they need to get someone like Isaac Parades and then an outfield bat of some kind. Woo is hurt now too so they’ll probably need another starter since all year long he’s been dealing with injuries. The bullpen has been a massive problem too with injuries, so they’ll need to add another bullpen arm and hope Gregory Santos and Gabe Speier can get healthy.
Thanks for keeping that lead warm for us Astros fans. We will be taking it back soon. (Low key if we don't make it. I hope it's y'all. Fuck Dallas. Fuck the Rangers.)
@@bigpacthatseazye3462 I got to watch it all the way thru. It was a good video that pretty much relied on direct quotes from people for the information…
Has anyone noticed the huge hole in Julio's swing? Anything in and above the thighs he can't hit. He dives with upper body and swings around pitches. Can't pull his hands in
Biggest issue is Julio not being Julio. His mental game is off as he cares too much about making flashy plays and hitting homers. He swings too hard and ends up off balanced because of it. We might need a new manager or at least hitting philosophy as it seems that our whole lineup has a similar issue of swinging too hard and not making much contact. It could also be because of the mariner layer as hitters need to swing harder to get the ball to fly further. But nevertheless a change needs to come now as the time is now to be aggressive and go for a serious World Series push.
Not really but obviously our offense is clearly struggling if I’m just praying for a good trade at the deadline or else it’s over Houston and rangers are starting to heat up again
Don’t forget Kyle Lewis too. After watching the Guardians all year, I’m convinced that coaching may be an issue here. Plate discipline, hitting approach, and general strategy may need refreshed.
Part of the issue is that Seattle is the most pitcher friendly ballpark in the league on average being in Seattle takes off at least 6 feet of any fly ball it is quite literally the place home runs go to die. I've seen at least 10 balls this season that would've been a home run in most other ball parks but they just die at the wall. If you look at statcast you will see that the mariners are dead last in park factor by a relatively large margin
Mariners fans know best. Either they have pitching and no hitting or they got hitting and noooooo pitching…when they had beltre sexson guillen they got no pitching.. cano Cruz only Felix bad bullpen
Huh what to talk about disappointment. Angels, AL West, 3 game series against the A’s. Game 2 and barely won 7-5 even after a Mikey Moniak grand slam and Tyler Ward solo shot. Patrick Sandoval now out with Tommy John. Ugh. 11 games back. It’s a battle for 3rd😂 Ohtani showing Trout that there are more options if you want to stay sunny beachside. SD, SF, LA. Don’t have to be locked to the Angels
As a HUGE Astros fan, it was very exciting for me, just waiting to see which team strikes first, and the defensive saves, don’t forget Julio’s catch vs Gurriel that saved the game in the 16th inning at that time
Julio is an enigma. All the talent in the world, was spoken in the same breath with Acuna and then... nada. And in their rearview mirror the Astros are coming.
History shows this not fixable till a new owner, and entire new management coach’s etc.. with a winning mindset. Not a mediocre 54 % strategy.. Norwalk do not care. If I was a player I would demand a trade
Mariners hitting coaches need to be replaced. JRod continues to not even sniff his potential. Meanwhile, Kelenic gets a change of scenery and coaching, and he flourishes.
I'm glad you noticed how bad this problem has been for a long time. Nelson Cruz was the only player that didn't lose his power in Seattle. Scott servais is not a coach that has consistently guided the mariners to get on, move runners over and score runs. It's clear that's what you have to do in Seattle, use speed, pitching and defense but hasn't come to fruition
This is a very incompetent Front office at building good offense and specially a good, balanced roster, this is all on Dipoto, he's vastly overrated. Every year is the same freaking problem, awful offense and some good streaks here and there. The only thing I give this FO credit for is the amazing talent they have at building pitching but that's it, they are here to win, almost 10 years and only 1 playoff appearance, and was mostly for the vibes and grit the team had for breaking the drought not from purely roster perspective. Time for a change and yeah I'm a Mariners fan.
You have the same thoughts as me by making this video. Honestly every piece the mariners have every added like winker, wong, polanco, and garver have never been good so they just need their core guys to do at least average and they will have a much better offense. adding someone would not hurt but since its the mariners they will end up being bad.
The important thing with the 2014 Royals is that they didn’t strike out, or walk really. I don’t see the Mariners doing anything, you nailed it with JP Crawford I mean he’s not that good defensively, he’s a decent bat at best. Just don’t see how they even win the division let alone that World Series
Houston is catching up pretty quick there 4.5 games back and the mariners are struggling right now they need to go and add fast before they lose first place
I have ti disagree with your claim thatthe bullpen has solid arms. We have ONE bullpen arm and thats Munoz, I'd like to get at least 2 more solid bullpen arms because with Santos and Speir coming back from injury they wont be 100%. Another bst would be great but as a lifelong Mariner fan trust me they'll either trade to much for a guy who will get hurt or not perform or be a rental and the pieces we traded will become HOF players.
the Mariners have been Oakland A's merchants the last few years. I really feel like they're a mediocre team vs everybody and then they sweep the A's every series and that's enough to contend for the wild card. it's a joke they're leading a division by 5 games with a +8 run differential.
It is possible that if this keeps up, the Mariners could end up being jumped by Houston for first place though They should try to get a massive upgrade at catcher by trading Raleigh and some prospects for Elias Diaz from the Rockies
Not the best in Geography, but could that be a factor? Like a reverse Colorado situation, where just some factor makes everyone have a worse offense in Seattle idk. Or something about the Stadium dimensions? Or just a weird team building strategy?
The closest competitor to Seattle is 6 hours away. Which makes things difficult travel wise. This is why I think MLB should add a Portland expansion team to act not just as a rival to the Mariners but make there travel times easier. I think even the team has said that that’s a difficult problem for them. Seattle is in the middle of nowhere as far as team wise and geographical placement.
Our best hitter has been Luke Raley. So that kinda tells you the situation on the season. It’s frustrating being a Mariners fan because every year the offense sucks and the pitching is great. This year sucks more because there’s been so much regression. Julio is struggling, JP who imo has always been a little overrated by the fanbase has crashed down to earth, and Cal has had a tough year but he’s always been a low batting average streaky guy at times. They severely need a middle of the order bat and then probably a lesser bat added as well. France and Polanco shouldn’t be Mariners by next month if they continue to slump.
There’s absolutely no protection for Julio to put up the numbers everyone expects in this Mariners lineup. The only other hitter that’s ok is Luke Raley. Cal Raleigh & JP are not having good years. Mitch Haniger is soo bad that he might be DFAd soon. rookie Ryan Bliss has been hitting well the past week but now he’s be regulated to the bench cause Jorge Polanco is back from the DL & still hitting under .200 (another bad acquisition). Pitching at HOME has been great, but the pitching on the ROAD is another story. With the exception of Logan Gilbert, the starters are not doing all that well on the road. Bryce Miller has a 2 something ERA at home & a 5.5+ ERA on the road, yikes. Bullpen is now getting gassed. Mariners were 10 games up on 1st place over a week ago. It could be safe to say that they could be the first ever team in MLB to blow a 10 game lead in June soo quickly that they’ll finish the season under .500. They’re playing sooo bad right now, might as well just give the Astros the division & also… signing Julio that long extension could be a mistake.
I feel that the Red Sox and mariners can help each other out. Red Sox trade Bello, Dalbec, and Yoshida for 2 of the mariners rotation and maybe a decent position player to help cover if someone's injured
Julio needs to be more of a contact hitter stop trying to drive it out every single time, plate Discipline, protect the plate when there’s two strikes, and improve at clutch situations.
Its a really sad situation.. the Mariners could be one of the top 5 teams in Baseball with 2 quality bats.. They remind me so much of the Brewers in the 2020s amazing pitching and pen but awful offense (besides this years Brewers who are atcually performing unexpectedly great this year on offense)

Bullpen needs help too. It's had to win games when you're up 8-0 in the 7th and lose 8-9 because of the bullpen imploded.
Agreed. We do NOT have a solid bullpen right now, and I would love for our trade options to center on regaining someone like Sewald or Swanson.
