I got the most recent version of the ESV1 this past spring of 2020. This Bible is the one for me. Has the best paper I’ve come across. The thickness is perfect, has references and a good concordance! To top it off, it’s the perfect size and has plenty of lined paper in the back. Thanks so much for your review! I’d recommend checking out their newer versions.
I just received a copy of the R.L. Allen ESV 1 in the same cover five days before Christmas. It is stunning, and the ink is darker and bolder than the Crossway version. Very pleased indeed.
Thanks for this review. I ended up buying one via your link to Amazon. So, the red letter in the "pauper" is pretty dark? And the paper is pretty good? I'll get it tomorrow, hopefully.

Romans One16 thanks for the info! I have a Cambridge wide margin with lined paper in the back which I love! But, it’s just a bit to big n bulcky to carry with me everywhere. So I’m looking for an alternative. Moleskin works great for the method you suggested. A little pricey but great paper and takes ink and pencil well
is the paper the same GSM and is the boldness the same? I had to return two allan NCR ESV's b/c the page corners on both of them were not cut correctly. They told me they hand cut them. Someone needs to learn how to cut.
I just returned mine. The margins where all over the place some signatures had 2mm margins, others 5mm, some had 2mm in between the book names and the edge others 5mm... very frustrating. They told me it had to do with the narrow margins coming already from Crossway and since they do the trimming semi-manually that makes those differences happening. In my opinion, if that is the case, then don't make them. It is an awful result that looks like that printing was totally wrong and out of hand yet they expect you to pay the same amount for one that has its margins correctly. They were gracious enough to give me a full refund yet I don't think they will be paying for the $20 postage fee I had to pay to send it back. VERY DISAPPOINTED WITH ALLAN IN THIS CASE.
It's not your fault pastor Matt, it seems that has been happening "only" with their last batch... I have 5 Allan bibles and they are perfect. I wonder why they allowed this to happen and why they see it as something acceptable. For that price, I would expect it to be like yours.

Allan also makes the Classic Reference in the NIV version. Evangelical bibles claims that the NIV is line matched. Does anyone know if that’s true?

Crossway uses 2016 text. Allan uses 2011 text. That's the difference.
