This Gundam looks as if it’s done multiple playthroughs of MS:G and unlocked all the upgrades and secrets. Bet it would even go so far as to attack the actual Odessa Mining Base instead of the base M’Quve and the Adzam was on.
Would be very intresting also I hope they put this unit on games too because it looks so cool and a bit different arsenal like extreme vs games has a alternative special or something
It's a story that's already been told many times. There was First Gundam, the films, the novel and The Origin manga. The latter is basically Yas dedicating a decade of his life to telling that story. What's a prettier animated series going to achieve that hasn't been done already?
I fully painted this kit with Tamiya spray cans (I don't own an airbrush and don't live in an appropriate home layout to set one up) and it's my favorite of all kits I have.
I remember being super impressed when building this, and it just blowing my mind after everything was finished. This Kit is amazing and if you’re looking for a Grand daddy that poses great and has a lot of stuff, this Kit is a must have. It also poses beautifully without a base stand, so for those who like their kits on the ground or can’t be bothered to buy a base stand for their kits, this is definitely a kit you’ll want.
It may be very vanilla, but I configured mine to look like the original RX-78-2 with the early type shoulders, middle type shoulders (no vulcans or magnums), and early type wrists for both sides. Not much for details, but I like it as a closer comparison to the MSG version!
I’ll add everything except that shoulder cannon to me the RX-78-2 didn’t have that. I like the more vanilla design with some minor equipment variation.
The_Rouge _Newtype85 Yeah, I definitely get the vibe the early type was first equipped like a war machine (sort of like the Guncannon Early Type which even Tem Ray was unhappy with the result) but then outfitted for faster and mobile conflicts as time went on.
If you like this, then you NEED to start collecting the HGGTO GMs. I've gotten at least one of every model(even the P-Bandais) and I have absolutely NO REGRETS! They fight the HGBF GM/GM for the top spot of best GM kit, ALL OF THEM.

Heads up Kakarot, the ab crunch I believe is supposed to help in pulling off the crouch pose of the Origin GM Guard Custom, as with the other GM's that use the same frame I believe
there are decent customizations with this kit ..... which means adding a few odd machines could lead to a fairly unique MS team *adds to long list of "wants" in gunpla tab
Origin kits are awesome. When I got the RG Zeong however, I decided to get the grand daddy RG instead of this. I kind of wish I hadn't, but it looks phenomenal despite its flaws.
About the alternate parts for the chest & shoulders, they feel set in place with a snap/click once you put them together. So once you pick a part and build it, you can't do any swapping. At least in my experience. The wrist parts though, those swap fine.
I love my Gundam Revive kit (though due to a move it's damaged so I need a new one) but this is just... this is almost real grade level! It's absurd. In a good way. Speaking of The Origin versus Revive, I have an Origin Zaku 2 Char, but should I get the Revive version as well?
This and the revive Zaku are two of the best HG kits if you're into these OG designs. Shame the RX has such a small head but it is far and above the best granddaddy in this scale and so much fun to build and pose.
My favorite RX-78-2 model is the Revive, followed by the Entry Grade, but this is really cool and one I'd love to get and customize, sort of like how I turned my Revive into a sniper custom.
Oh I love this kit so so soooo much. My only grip is the limited fwd/bwd ankle articulations leaves it falling over a bit more than I'd like. Still, one of my favorite HGs
GunDamn! I didn't know it had two beam rifles. And it can have two cannons if I buy a second one. I want two of this guy. Make one with two cannons and two of those beam rifles with a bulky magazine-looking part. The other one can play with the leftovers, which is still a lot.
I really want that Zaku HM type with the twin shields. It always bugged me the Zaku shield was on the right side of the MS, meaning when firing it is facing away from the enemy.
Hathaway is soooooooooooo good. I’m half way though and it’s so intense and so well written and animated and I’m not just fanboying out right now I truly believe that someone who never seen gundam before will should be equally enthralled! 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
How do you connect the Ankle Armour onto the knee??? I understand if you want it to be connected to the grey parts, but you want it onto the knee? Are you making a Custom?
Could you cover how you do panel lining please? It always look extremely crisp and I would like to know what technique you use; Gundam markers, washes, or something else
I recently switched to the Gundam Marker Mechanical Pencil, which is just a fancy Gundam themed mechanical pencil that takes 0.3mm leads. I'm also using the branded leads (it doesn't say which hardness they are)

Still not sold on this one, it just looks fat and there are so many original Gundam kits at this scale released in recent years to be even remotely bothered with it.
@@hazzard1983 Construction I won't argue with, and the detail is just fine for what it represents... but that's the part I don't like. I feel like the RX-78-02 overcompensates for the otherwise basic nature of the design by having way too many extras. I also really don't like the proportions, it's just a bit too bulky in the middle.

Lovely, lovely kit. It's my favorite rx-78 design, with extra step.
If gunpla battle was real like in Build Fighters then this HG would be the base for my custom build. I really need to pick one up.
the white is just right, unlike the revive's milky green white or beyond global's creamy coffee brown.
While that origin one is nice I think I'll stick with my revive. I love the old look and it makes the RX 78-FSD stand out from it more

Be careful about the shield plug and the arm because my shield plug caused the friction hole in arm to split the forearm plastic.

Actually there two origin gms. One is a guard custom the other has a visor but its a regular gm you just have to paint regular color
