Honestly I don't care much about anime accuracy due to the very limited details imposed by the animation, that's why I much prefer the various re-designs explicitly made for model kits.
I honestly never tire of building RX 78-2 kits. I have the old HG, the SDCS, the OYW MG, the RG, and I have two of these Origins kits, and I agree that the Origins is awesome but the OYW MG is very underrated and totally holds up too

What I have a problem with is the way the chest connects to the waist because of it. It's loose as all hell.
I got the Origin full release version for Christmas a few years ago and I can definitely advocate for his opinion that it’s the best. It holds up really well and it’s super fun to play around with different poses.
I bought this kit along with the GM Sniper II from a friend for $40 for both kits. This was the only one that didn't break because I was still an inexperienced builder that didn't have nippers to cut the pieces out. Fun kit, but would definitely like to get another one that hopefully I could build better.
Beats me, though, as to why we still don’t have a HG of this version of the Granddaddy (whereas we already have different versions like the Local Type, FSD, Heavy Gundam, etc.); while we still don’t have any MG’s of the GTO Zakus.
I just got one for Christmas and I've got to say, its almost flawless! Only problem for me is the fingers constantly popping off and not being able to hold stuff without extra support, but other than that, It's amazing!
In case you're window shopping for which MG to get, the 2.0 is the most anime accurate, also comes with a bunch of stuff and the articulation doesn't suffer from its age, it's a great kit. One thing to note is that it doesn't have a core block, but also it doesn't need one, you can assemble it without the core fighter inside.
I want to have the Origin granddaddy for its playability but the 3.0 is just so marvellous to look at. I sometimes wonder that my hands built that thing.
I'd honestly say pick up a 2.0. The weapons and core fighter from the 3.0 are the same, but the 2.0 has a completely different aesthetic (kind of like the 3.0 prime) but is still super posable and has more accessories than the 3.0.

He actually did a Buyee tutorial a while back in his Gundarium Tier Giveaway video. It's what I used to learn it. Just be careful as there are a lot of hidden fees they'll ding you on. You should really consider putting the water slides on this kit. At least the badges and numbering. it looks AMAZING and is the only MG that I keep on constant display. I love this kit so much its the background image on my cellphone!
If you're having trouble with bandai led there's to way to correct that, either tighten the screw or put them in the fridge a few minutes (I'm not kidding the cold help the courant pass trought easier) but don't do both, the plastic of the led will crack open
You SPIN the shield on the ball joint, you don't flip the arm connector it's self upside down, also both beam rifles are meant to be stored on the shield at the same time.
built this over a month ago and gotta say really love it i aint a fan of the core fighter so i got this over the 3.0 looks nice on my nightstand only minor issue was the sandwich head seemed like the left side wasent going in fully with a large seam line i got it fixed sorta as of now but no big deal V fin really loose but i can manage with it overall this version rocks eventually ill tackle the 3.0
OYW proportion and sculpt is still my favorite of all time for the RX-78 and second is the 2.0. haven't even bought the 3.0 yet. i also still have the 1.0 bought from day one when Bandai announced the MG line with some painted details and modification.
You can also get a version for like $5 or $10 more and get a yellow V Fin, 2 LEDS, a yellow and a purple LED, plus some other stuff. Which I the version I got.
The 2.0 is no slouch at all. It's the very model that set the standard for much of the mg line after it just like the zaku 2.0. Also try a different battery. I heard people swapping out the reccomended batteries for something stronger.
I wish the Zaku origin came in MG scale or there was an HG scale version of this.... I ended up super heavily modifying my mg zaku 2.0 to look like an origin version with mixed but passable results
Mine is still alive and in relatively one piece. But it’s definitely seen better days. I certainly won’t be treating my future Gunpla kits with the same lack of long term care and love.
Bought this kit. Painted it. Sold it. Bought it again. Straight built. Broke some parts. Sold it for scraps. Bought another one. This gunpla may not be perfect. But i enjoyed playing with it the most.
I am having a massive problem with these fingers. I cannot get the to bend at the bottom knuckle at all, and holding a weapon is ugly. Does anyone else have the same issues?

Bandai could make the early variations in mg as the frame is there but they seem to focus on hg sales. Even char origin zaku in mg with his big gun would had been a great kit.

IMO the 2.0s the best one. It has all the accessories you could want, it's compatible with the MG G-Fighter, it's got a great inner frame, and it feels much better to pose than the 3.0 or Origin. If you want to talk about it like it's just a toy that is.

While I still prefer the 3.0 looks wise for that RG look, gotta say, it's pretty wobbly. The looks of the Origin version are slowly growing on me, too, plus that awesome shoulder cannon.
The hands on the RX-78 have always looked oversized, even in later animated and/or drawn appearances like the promotional image for GundamxHelloKitty. That's why they use the Nu Gundam Ver.Ka on the MG RX-78 from the 3.0 onwards. In fact, oversized hands are a common theme with One Year War suits, especially Zakus and Doms.
I'm the type that actually doesn't like the OG gundam colors (since I've seen it so much). I would definitely repaint this in either FSD, local type, or G3 colors.
Can you also build the Ichiban kuji set B. So you can swap clear parts and non clear parts from set A. To build a Origin RX 78 in white and other in clear.
Just started watching your channel recently and I'm loving it, it really makes me want to get back into building Gunpla even more! I do have a question though if you catch this: I love hexagon patterns so I really want that table... is it a custom construction or did you get it somewhere?
I honestly don't care for the clear/titanium/gold plated ones, though I know they make it more 'exclusive' I suppose. I'd really only want a gold-plated perfect grade RX-78-2 just because of rarity and awesomeness as a showcase centerpiece, but I'd have to sell an internal organ for one so not going to happen. lol One day I'll probably just pull my PG apart and paint it completely. One day.
IMHO the 2.0 is miles better than the 3.0. my 3.0 went floppy so fast, while the 2.0 is solid as a rock. As for anime looks, the 2.0 is the best kinda like the Zaku II 2.0. Accessories wise, the 2.0 has everything, from the hammer, javalin, and the naplam launcher.

I painted my kit in the G3 colors and I love it. The only problem is the hands and wrist which refuses to keep the new beam rifle pointed out.

u can rotate the box between the two circle behind your backpack so it can be a shield storage.

They released a 1/100 Cars Zaku 2 Origin ver. Fix figuration Metal composite not to long ago to go with the MG and FFMC Origin Gundam Figure.
The origin version is my third master grade and I love it and it looks great with led

You should do a review of the f90 master grade! The kit looks and is totally awesome. One of the best master grades of this year (minus Dynames)

The Origin ver is easily one of the best MG kits I've built along with the Dynames and GM Sniper II. The Dynames is the closest to this kit.

The Heavy beam rifle I think is also used by the Guncannon.

Just started watching your channel recently and I'm loving it, it really makes me want to get back into building Gunpla even more! I do have a question though if you catch this: I love hexagon patterns so I really want that table... is it a custom construction or did you get it somewhere?
I honestly don't care for the clear/titanium/gold plated ones, though I know they make it more 'exclusive' I suppose. I'd really only want a gold-plated perfect grade RX-78-2 just because of rarity and awesomeness as a showcase centerpiece, but I'd have to sell an internal organ for one so not going to happen. lol
One day I'll probably just pull my PG apart and paint it completely. One day.
I am building the 3.0, and I have been having problems with it, specifically the upper arm assembly. Anyone else having problems with it too?
I've got the 3.0 but damn the original mg is looking fine

I'm not really a fan of the transparent colours on this granddaddy but it is a cool kit nonetheless
IMHO the 2.0 is miles better than the 3.0. my 3.0 went floppy so fast, while the 2.0 is solid as a rock. As for anime looks, the 2.0 is the best kinda like the Zaku II 2.0.
Accessories wise, the 2.0 has everything, from the hammer, javalin, and the naplam launcher.
If you want a fairly decent modern design can also go for OYW ver. One of best looking RX-78-2.

Really looks good, would you recommend this kit as a first MG kit to build? Im think on getting this one (just because of this vid ahaha) or my fav gundam exia quant full saber ^^ so far i build a lot of hg but never attempted a mg
i love the rx 78 02 design but not the childish red blue and yellow colors.. it makes it look more like a toy than a menacing giant mech..
gundam is known for that color combination tho....
