@@LoreSolver4IMO activities being so stretched out in time does add a ton of difficulty, because you can only do so much during the day before the deadly night comes. I have played it and I have to say, it's really good at recreating the feeling of playing Minecraft as an 8 year old. You don't know any of the recipes and the recipe book isn't a thing, you don't know how to use coordinates so you lose your base, you are terrible at first person games so mobs terrify you
@@TheSummerFriendsOfficial I got into minecraft by watching youtubers, and didn't actually play it myself until like... high school. So I knew everything about it, but had no actual experience
first half: genuinely interesting albeit arduous mechanics designed to challenge a player who wants a more difficult and realistic survival experience second half: "So I just checked the wiki, and..." Good video, you are a Trooper for getting through this
The first versions of Better Than Wolves were actually really good. It introduced a lot of the low-tech industrial stuff that inspired mods like Create. Now, though, it just seems intent on wasting as much of the player's time as possible with obtuse and tedious mechanics. Funnily enough, it's not the hardcore survival mechanics on their own, it's how they're designed and implemented. Vintage Story is a game that started out as a Minecraft mod, and it has very similar mechanics, like manually sparking a fire or needing to scavenge for loose rocks and branches to make your first tools, instead of just punching down a tree. But Vintage Story is a really fun and engaging game.

needing a nether star to progess to get to the end but needing the end to get a wither star is beyond me, no wonder no one plays this mod for this long!
Theres a guy called tdmlc who is also known as the btw god that in his most recent attempt beat the wither and is about to live stream the ender dragon fight, the live is in a few days if i remeber correctly, also he is playing on mia which is another mod that make the mobs even harder then in regular btw, he's not called the btw god for nothing
I love how inconsistent the realism of the mod is. You cant build bases. Gravity will totally mess that up, but god FORBID we give the trees gravity and make them fall if you mine them. That would be too easy
2:30:34 Just expecting the armor to be something of greatness or flair or awesomeness. THIS AIN'T IT. It looks like the armour is made of roughly carved steel
Well at least in the new beta snapshots of the game which changed the textures to look closer to the modern game, they made it look like netherite, so not all style lost
Thank you for making this. This has given me an INCREDIBLE amount of motivation to make a video on BTW: Everything Wrong with Better Than Wolves. I love how the spread of villages tells a story. For some reason, originating around your spawn, there was a catastrophic event that killed many and sent the survivors back to the stone age
9:03 to anyone playing, don't spam attack the mobs. hitting them during the i-frames (when they are kind of red) won't hurt them but it will still cost you hunger and tool durability. This was a vanilla thing in that version, but the harsher food situation and the lower tool durqabilities make it more noticeable. Properly waiting for the i-frames to stop befor hitting can be the diference between survival and death. 14:52 Putting full logs in the primitive oven is far more efficient than putting the bark or the sticks. it will burn for far longer. 22:11 I don't recomend rushing villages. It's better to wait until nether access to take advantage of the 8 times space compression to travel faster. 25:11 You can actually make any kind of cobblestone to stay, but you have to mortar it. rightclicking a piece of loose cobblestone with either clay or a slimeball will turn it into non-loose coblestone. Same for brick blocks (either stone brick, regular brick or nether brick). 27:32 You cant make chests with planks, but you can make doors. And in the mod, regular zombies won't break them. So they are really convinient and you won't keep having to block the entrance to your base with blocks only to remove them to get trough. 28:12. other than using it as a die, wich you might need some for some trades depending on luck, lapis is mainly used as a crafting component for endgame redstone devices. 31:42 Nether possesion won't do something as boring as make animals hostile. the results are far more interesting and depend on the animal getting possesed. Feel free to experiment. If you take care, it's nothing to worry about. 32:11 You can jsut put a campfire on the obsidian and lit it with any of the methods available (fire starters, torches, flint and steel...). The nether quartz is used intead of redstone to make clocks, wich are also used as crafting material for a bunch of redstone devices. It is black because when it was introduced to the game in version 1.5, the mod already had a nice decorative white block, so the nether quartz was turned black to fill a different decorative stop. 38:50 You probably will matnion it later, but you just crafted what you need to only get the top part of the plant (wich grows much faster than the bottom part, that why you would want to). The shears. 43:20 Machine recipes will, for the most part, instruct you on wich sides the inputs are. gearboxes have gears in top, bottom and sides, so every side can connect to axles, axes have on the sides and bottom, so any side but the one with the saw will do. other mach8ines will only have a gear on the bottom, so only the bottom will be an input. there are some exceptions, but as a general rule it will work like that. 46:25 those are just infinity arrows. if you have a bow with infinity, you will shoot those rather than regular arrows. regular skelletons in the nether have an inherent infinity enchantment without the bow being enchanted, so they shoot golden arrows and don't drop arrows. Also, a tip for nethers skeletons, the black ones. Since they are more than 2 blocks tall, you can just build now and then a line of netherrack at heiogh 3, letting you trough, but stopping them. 48:58 To avoid getting lost, building markers with easy to point out blocks is really usefull. Cobblestone sticks out in the nether very quickly. 49:50 I see there was some confusion there. A thunderst6orm won't break your windmill, it will make it spin to fast for whatever it is conected to it to resist it. so it will break the first gearbox or clutch conected to it (or a saw if you conect it directly). powering the gearbox with a redstone signal disengages in input axle, allowing it to safely spin without damaging the clutch. 51:06. It will absolutely give you nausea the whole time. That's why you use hoppers to automate both inputing into the millstone and collecting the results. 1:03:26 The bed was readded a s a way to speed trough nights, but it wont skip time, or set your spawn. There's a different endgame way to change where the compass points to. 1:04:56 Whilke it is true that melons are quite a boon, there are other ways to get reliable food at this stage. hemp farming will provide a surpluss of seeds wich you can combine with bonemeal (bones in the millstone) for chicken feed. A piece of chicken feed a day will make a chicken lay an egg in the next dawn, more than one will we wasted, only an egg per chicken per day. You can fish. You can also lure cows into a pen and use the bucket for milking them. wich in it self is not that good, but it can be combined with eggs for ommeletes and with fish for chowder. getting more restored hunger bar than with consuming the basic components. 1:10:20 There's actually no concept of player loot in this mod. Mobs will drop any of their loot regardless of whether the player kills it or they die by any other source. The saw is still a very good way to kill mobs in your mob farm, because if you payed attention, you'll see that it doesn't ocuppy a full block, it's slighly slimmer in the side with the cutting bit. This was intended so you can push mobs with water into a wall of saws and there will be a small gap for all the loot to get trough and be collected. 1:14:52 This would have been a good time to know mobs won't spawn on wood. Only dirt and sotone. This allows you to mob proof your base before permanent torches. 1:16:53 I love that you are actually taking the time to build up your base into something with aesthetics rather than going for the minimum needed for progression. That always was the spirit of the mod from the start before all the changes to make it harder. To give you reasons to want to build. 1:23:56 vines are far safer to gather in swamps. And then they are easily farmed. Put a vine on top of a powered saw and when it grows down it will be automatically harvested. 1:29:30 The vinetraps were born as a way to make a more legit looking version of the open trapdoor for mob traps. It is a block that counts as a regular block for mob pathfinding, but that has no actual collision. So you can build more credible mob traps with non obvious gaps for the mobs to fall trough. 1:32:30 Yep, they stack. Potions staking buff has been a part of this mod for so long(december of 2011) that whenever i play any other form of minecraft i'm always weirded out at the start as to why aren't my potions stacking. 1:33:09 You got it slightly wrong there. The regular bow can shoot both rotten arrows and regular arrows. But the compound bow, being stronger just shatter rotten arrows before they are fired. Ther's also a third tier of arrow, the broadhead arrow, made from steel than the regular bow just won't fire at all since they are too heavy for it and you need the compound bow for. But those are also made from steel, so post ender dragon. 1:35:00 Here there are also some alternatives to how you are going about getting the skulls. You can level up a butcher and trade with it to turn regular skulls into runed skulls. Or you can do it the fun way. Build a mob farm in the nether and release the groth to increase it's efficiency. 1:36:25. I pointed it earlier. but it is worth to reiterate. Spam clicking is a really bad idea in this version of the game, even without the mod, it wastes hunger and tool durability without hurting the enemy during the i-frames (half a second) 1:39:38 What wiki are you reading? It contains a whole lot of inacurate information. while it is true that jungle temples contain several unique blocks, one of those required for trading. they don't contain block dispensers. What you need to do to summon the wither is to turn those runed skulls into infused skulls, wich the priest will do for you at level 4. so you find a priest, level it up, fight the wither, get said priest to awaken the soulforge you found in the nether fortress, and then craft the blocks the librarian wants. 1:42:15 Those chopping blocks ar very useful. They are the only non wooden blocks that you can place in front of a saw without the saw breaking, so you can use them to push mobs into saws in mob traps where water is not available. Thay also give a bonus on head drop. so they are great for wither skull farming If you make a mob farm in the nether fortress. 1:43:50 I have to say Obsidian on desert temples looks much better than the colored wool it used at the time. to this time i still prefeer it to the terracota they now use. 1:49:55 the way to know what villagers a village contains before turning them is to look at the buildings. each villager spawns in a building, so without a church, there's no priest, without a library, there's no librarian, etc. There's also some flexibility with the caste system. there are 3 castes of villager, the farmers, the butcher and blacksmith, and the priest and librarian. When breeding villagers (wich is done by giving them diamonds like breeding other mobs) there's a chance for the offspring to be a different profession isnide the same caste as one of it's parents. So you can breed a priest from a librarian, or a butcher from a blacksmith. 1:51:40 Vinetraps are not just useful for mob traps, they are really good at traping zombie villagers for curing. 1:57:11 Remember whn i said mobs won't spawn on wood and how that was so you could mob proof areas before having access to permanent light. well, taht came in the same version that allowed mobs to spawn on slabs and other non full blocks. so that wall is not mob proof. 2:01:46 Personally, i like to fight the wither in the overworld, also just avobe bedrock. The third strata stone is really explosion resistant, so it does a half decent job of containing the wither, save for it's erosion ability.
2:05:30 Man, i really love the block dispenser and the many complex uses it has for it's very simple functionality. It's what drew me into the mod back during the minecraft alpha, when better than wolves was jsut a mod that added redstone components, without any form of progression or hardcore features. It was the piston before the piston, allowing redstone to modify the world arround it. Cutting and opening water channels, making hidden doors, automating planting of sugarcane after harvesting it, etc. 2:06:48. You are looking at some kind of outdated wiki. The redstone eye used to be crafted in the soulforge, but the soulforge was originally called the anvil, long before an anvil was added to vanilla. 1:13:29 Yeah, the mod is designed to reward buiolding and automation. Your mob trap at the border between the jungle and the swamp was a great example. and there's one small detail that would make it perfect (other than sorting the outputs more so there's more space for the drops you want). if you built it in a similar border inside the spawn chunks, it would work even while you are away. The spawn chunks work diferently in the mod than in vanilla, rather than arbitrarily be loaded for some stuff, but not for others, they behave at all time as if a player was sitting directly at spawn, so mob farms will work, automated redstone setups will work, plants will grow, etc. that way you can have your farms producing output without you having to afk at each of them. 2:14:44 The buddy block and detector block combo is great for redstone contraptions. The detector block will output redstone at all sides beside the one with the eyes, if there's a block or an entity in fron of it's face. The Buddy block is a BUD, a block update detector, built into a single block, so you don't need to use piston glitches to build one. The detector block is one of the first blocks to be added to the mod, in may 2011, and one of the originally designed features for it. The buddy block took a bit more time, november 2011. And it's great to automate pottery, since it will output a redstone signal every time it turns on a turntable, in combination with a block dispenser it can be used to count how many times it has turned to activate a piston to remove the unfired potery from the turntable automatically. All the redstone components in the mod are great and can be used to build really complex machines from basic pieces and redstone circuits. 2:15:20 The lens is quite interesting. It has an input, the black looking side and an output, the diamond side. And it has two uses, if you put a strong light source, like a redstone light, it emits an invisible light beam from it's output, that will turn into a light source when it colides with a block or an entity. With the aded caveat that a detector block will see that beam, so it can be used for wireless instant transmission of redstone signals, hidden tripwires, iluminating areas at a distance, etc. The secondary use is plaing one with it's output directly facing a detector block, this will turn it into a light level detector, emmiting redstone once the ambient light get's high enough. 2:16:58 And that's the placenta. It's just a visual particle, the author implemented that for every mob breeding one night while drunk. There's an old topic in the official forms from the time where the drunk author made a suggestion of adding the placenta, then answered himself thinking himslef for the good suggestion, then notifying of the succesful implementation for the next release. May 2012 2:19:30 You are correct. they also prevent endermen to get angry at you for looking at them. they will be crucial for defeating the ender dragon. 2:20:48 Today i learned that there's no longer just 3 strongholds in minecraft anymore. 2:25:09 This is one of the quirks of the end in the mod. As part of the mod's own lore, because yes, the mod has it's own lore. The end is a dimension where time is stopped, so if you bring animals there and you breed them, the babies won't ever grow, and any water you place, will keep flowing without running out forever. You may also notice the endermen sometimes spawn with enderstone on their hand. this is a renewable source of enderstone so you can automate production and not mine out the whole end island. Being compeltely fair, the real final challenge of the mod is not to just make steel armor. The final challenge of the mod is to defeat the Hardcore spawning by finally being able to set a custom spawn where you will go after death rather than spawning in a random palce in the map. This implies building a beacon, with it's full 4 levels build out of soulforged steel blocks. This will rwequired building tons of automation so you no longer have to manually make the soul urns, take away iron items from the mob trap to melt, etc, but everything will be connected and deliver the soulforged steel to you. But if you are not into automation and redstone contraptions, i wouldn't ever recommend you to do that. All in all. This was a really good run on the survival aspects of the mod, even if a lot of the more tech aspects of it were ignored and i'm ahppy seing the mod get somewhat of a renaisance after so many years.
Look up TDLMC, he didn't just beat Better Than Wolves, he beat it with one of the most difficult add-ons, MEA. Normal BTW is fairly relaxed compared to MEA
I was once happy to get a Bane of Arthropods cuz I found a trial chamber near a secondary base which for some reason had a ton of spider spawners. That enchant made getting EXP easier + made it easier to kill the spiders for loot.
I remember when Better Than Wolves came out and it was cool then, if a bit obtuse. Wolves were genuinely underwhelming at their introduction. They were hard to find, died easily, and had self-deleting pathfinding. More of a decoration than a real companion. These days it seems pointlessly difficult and needlessly salty. It's a theoritically cool idea for Minecraft where you start having returned to monke and claw your way up into a titan of industry. A shame it was executed by a man with a vendetta against a block doggo.
Clawing your way up into a titan of industry is more like TerraFirmaGreg. BTW is just grind for the sake of grind which isn't bad but it just isn't for everyone.
the dog was just the excuse to start developing. since then the man was just making the game he wanted to play. Overhauling every part of the game at a time.

@@AbsnormalCoolest We don't know. Flowers always kept features close to his chest when they were still being worked on, and the initial teaser he put out of the Soulforged Steel portal was pretty cryptic, with the player just saying bye to his old world before pulling a lever and activating it.
@@कनलदअ_गनगयव Flowerchild actually had a very solid grasp on the difference between these two, given he actually had industry experience as a game developer before starting Better Than Wolves. While Better than Wolves has some tedious aspects, they are presented in a way that encourages the player to use the tools provided to automate these aspects. You _can_ take the path of least resistance and keep using the unoptimal and tedious approaches to solutions, but by taking the more difficult road and delving deeper into the mod's tech tree, you wind up both saving time and yielding way more rewards than the easier route.
I do agree that the trend of locking the best/coolest gear behind beating the game to be unbelievably stupid and lame; I love using my end game gear to NOT defeat the final boss because it, and every other challenging enemy, is dead.
Boss fights in Minecraft have never been a strong part of the game. The Dragon and Wither fight are pretty boring, and the Dragon is even easier than the Wither. You don't need steel armor for that
@Battosay52 that's not what he's saying stupid. He's just expressing how worthless it is to play this mod if it makes part of the grind obsolete while making the entire rest of the game impossibility grindy. Why get diamond/netherite if you can't aquire it till after you kill the only bosses in the game? Your incentivised to grind for everything except the iconic minecraft gear. This mod if fuckin dumb :/
@@utopiandystopia1383 It is not a "realistic" mod. It is a challenging mod that incentives the player into solve the problems it's presents trough building and tech progression rather than manually farming single blocks.
fun fact, if you didn't do this on hardcore, you could've made ... I think it's called a soulforged steel beacon.... it allows you to set your respawn. not even kidding. I remember seeing this while trying to find out if a bed sets your spawn... but oh no.. it doesn't :( ... cool vid btw.
I disagree with using hardcore mode for this mod in general. It's not made with it in mind, you're very much meant to die and respawn several times, there's even an entire mechanic around that where you respawn in a large randomized area, so it's like starting fresh in a new world but with overall progression. You build up a network of bases and caches of resources over repeated deaths and respawns, and can eventually find your way back to your previous location by way of your own constructions. A set respawn location isn't needed to make the game work. Before beds existed in Minecraft, people built spawn hubs with paths leading to different locations. This harkens back to that time and encourages the building of transportation infrastructure and signage.
@@fernfernfernfern329 It's only limited if you cheap out on SFS and make a lower tier beacon pyramid. Max level SFS beacon has unlimited range and works across dimensions.
This has got to be by FAR the most miserable, unfun, masochistic and poorly thought out mod I’ve ever laid eyes upon MAD RESPECT for going through hell itself and putting yourself through this Most others would be brought to a mental collapse
It is really cool for the first, like, twenty days, when you are living on the edge and every new tool feels like an achievement (and all of them are pretty interesting and have different purposes - sewing kit for wool, cutting meat to get strings, stencil for crafting table and so on), but lategame is a stupid grindfest and feels very much like an "artifical difficulty". I mean, diamond gear is basically infinite, since it can be easily recycled and it is just "iron tool, but durable". So mod starts with a very wide progression and it ends up with just a vanilla roster of tools. Progression stops when you reach "village age" and gets swapped for unnecessary tedium of grinding this one specific crafting ingredient/ trading good to get some once-used-tgen-forgotten tool. Its just boring and uncool
It's weird seeing Better than wolves brought up so long after it's initial conception, and in such a wildly different state. The mod was originally designed under the direct idea of it's name: "What can be coded into Minecraft that would be better than wolves, while requiring less coding" due to the mod author being upset about how wolves were added. Now... man, I don't even recognize the mod lol
I swear to god I got irritated just watching this video. At the beginning it actually seemed very difficult, but later in the game, when you were safe, it looked more like the creators wanted to make progress slower, not more difficult. @@DonnaPinciot And he still lacks basic game sense. Seriously, you need to go to the End to get an item to level up the villager that will give you the item to help you get to the End in the first place. Do you not see the problem?

BTW was probably made as a genuine passion project to update minecraft in a way that doesn't feel like adding redundant and simplifying bloat. Then as TerraFirmaCraft kind of already did all early game part, it seem to have slowly deranged into "how can we make minecraft as difficult, as long and tedious, and as boring as possible?"

While I can respect the fact they spent (from what I understand) to be years making major changes to the base code of this version of Minecraft… This is legitimately the kind of mod that always baffles me to see how popular it is. The ones that go out of their way to make minecraft tedious and grindy as hell because that’s what they want the game to be. And here I was side-eying all these people who wanted Minecraft to be some kinda RPG where everything has to be in the name of progression. (So many videos wanting the game to be like that…) If this is what folks want in their game, more power to them. But nahhhhh, if they prefer this over vanilla I think they might prefer playing other games cause at somepoint this does not feel like Minecraft. Or they’re masochists, in which I won’t judge them.
To be fair, it did not seem that he would be able to get any seeds for other crops to grow (Wheat was only possible after finding a village), I am not sure about milk helping with hunger in this mod, cocoa beans cannot be eaten on their own, and every other stuff would have required some time, I am intrigued in regard of how fishing work on this mod if at all due to him never considering that as a possible source of food (Maybe it drains your stamina faster than what a (cooked) fish gives back?)

If you enjoyed this mod (and didn't lose your mind due to the complexity), I'd really recommend vintage story. Vintage story originally started as a minecraft mod but it started to get so complex and removed from minecraft, that the developers decided it would be better to make a whole new game so they could really lean into the primitive technology angle. It aims to have more realistic steps to crafting as well as survival, and it has a voxel carving system that allows you to make really complex builds if you want to by chiselling away at the basic blocks.

Spam clicking is a really bad idea in this version of the game, even without the mod, it wastes hunger and tool durability without hurting the enemy during the i-frames (half a second)
1:39:38 What wiki are you reading?
May 2012
2:19:30 You are correct. they also prevent endermen to get angry at you for looking at them. they will be crucial for defeating the ender dragon.
Really informative comment thanks for writing

You _can_ take the path of least resistance and keep using the unoptimal and tedious approaches to solutions, but by taking the more difficult road and delving deeper into the mod's tech tree, you wind up both saving time and yielding way more rewards than the easier route.
@@CaptainBeebihuh very interesting, any clue what he's working on now?
I do agree that the trend of locking the best/coolest gear behind beating the game to be unbelievably stupid and lame; I love using my end game gear to NOT defeat the final boss because it, and every other challenging enemy, is dead.
:)
Just sounds to me like the dragon isn't the entire end game.
It's a reward for beating the boss. Like elytra in vanilla minecraft.

fun fact, if you didn't do this on hardcore, you could've made ... I think it's called a soulforged steel beacon.... it allows you to set your respawn. not even kidding. I remember seeing this while trying to find out if a bed sets your spawn... but oh no.. it doesn't :( ... cool vid btw.
... which requires a lot more soulforged steel, and of course beating the wither again because why not
I disagree with using hardcore mode for this mod in general.
@@DonnaPinciotI remember this. Minecraft is kinda easy now lol
i think it has limited range though so if you die too far from it it doesnt work
@@fernfernfernfern329 It's only limited if you cheap out on SFS and make a lower tier beacon pyramid. Max level SFS beacon has unlimited range and works across dimensions.
This has got to be by FAR the most miserable, unfun, masochistic and poorly thought out mod I’ve ever laid eyes upon
MAD RESPECT for going through hell itself and putting yourself through this
Most others would be brought to a mental collapse
😁👍
It's weird seeing Better than wolves brought up so long after it's initial conception, and in such a wildly different state. The mod was originally designed under the direct idea of it's name: "What can be coded into Minecraft that would be better than wolves, while requiring less coding" due to the mod author being upset about how wolves were added. Now... man, I don't even recognize the mod lol
I swear to god I got irritated just watching this video. At the beginning it actually seemed very difficult, but later in the game, when you were safe, it looked more like the creators wanted to make progress slower, not more difficult. And the worst thing is that many of these changes don't make sense, what the hell was that about the nether star?
The guy made this mod in a week purely because he got mad that Wolves were added to the game.
@@starhammer5247
And then it progressed to a mod that completely changes the game, and has been in development for over a decade.
That's just how modpacks are. This is tame compared to some of the worst stuff out there. If you don't like grind and heavy gating, play vanilla.
@@DonnaPinciot And he still lacks basic game sense. Seriously, you need to go to the End to get an item to level up the villager that will give you the item to help you get to the End in the first place. Do you not see the problem?
@@starhammer5247
What item?
I know that Eyes of Ender are only offered by villagers, with the crafting recipe disabled, but I wasn't aware you needed a specific item to level up villagers, nor that the End had anything to do with it.
As far as I knew, you just level up villagers kinda normally.
2:25:32 Yes. They do. The fixated 10 pillars where not added till many updates later. It was normal for end towers to spawn like that.

I’m beginning to think this modpack isn’t good gameplay-wise because it mistakes making the entirety of Minecraft more grindy as a valid way to implement an increase in difficulty.
Oh, it’s deeply awful, just a miserably experience. Not in an interesting way either, after midgame it’s just afk farms.
It's not a modpack, it's a single mod.
It's been in development so long, and basically rewrites half of Minecraft's code to do what it does. Which is also why it doesn't get updated to newer versions.

Making a mod because you’re salty about wolves is silly enough, but then going further and making it so wolves in said mod try to murk you on site, can be eaten, and will betray you if left unfed is a special kind of salt. I can only imagine what the creator thought about wolf armour,,,,,

@@Battosay52 not really? While I can respect the fact they spent (from what I understand) to be years making major changes to the base code of this version of Minecraft… This is legitimately the kind of mod that always baffles me to see how popular it is. The ones that go out of their way to make minecraft tedious and grindy as hell because that’s what they want the game to be.

@@Peter_Anthony fishing doesnt take hunger its one of the best early game infinite food methods
@@Peter_Anthony Wheat is locked behind finding villages, but that only locks out steak and mutton. Chicken lay eggs by giving them seeds, wich he ccould get a surplus off with the hemp farming, as the other user mentioned, fishing is also a good source of food, and fishing during full moons is really fast, if you have enough bait. While breeding cows is gated behind making cakes, so you need wheat, you can lure a few in with tall grass to milk them. and with milk and cocoa beans you can make chocolate, wich is the breeding item for pigs. Giving you one source of infinite meat.
and this is just the base ingredients, many of them can be combined into better foods. one porkchop combined with an egg will give you two pieces of ham and eggs, wich heal 3 whole hunger bar each.
