UPDATE: Eight Sleep's Pod 2 or 3 is going to be your best bet moving forward. It looks like SleepMe is no longer selling any of their products but they haven't formally announced anything (I'm not sure whether the company is being bought or liquidated, but something is going on). I'll provide an update if I hear anything!
And free to use the code BALANCINGLAURA to get $50 off the Eight Sleep! 😊

The problem with the Pod 3 is that it requires a $15/month subscription to use for software that shouldn't really be necessary. It is the subscription issue that makes it not worth it to me. I'm hoping that at some point some company comes along and offers a cooling system without a completely unnecessary subscription for what is effectively the remote. I wouldn't buy a TV that requires a $15 subscription for the remote control, I'm not doing it for my bed either.

    • @SammyInnit
      @SammyInnit 11 หลายเดือนก่อน +17

I agree. I've just been looking into it, and here in the UK for a King Pod 3 plus subscriptions over 5 years, it's £3615. That basically buys a minisplit system for the whole house or a good air source heat pump which does heating and cooling for the whole house. What I also don't like is they only offer a 2 year warranty on the cheaper membership option. By law in the UK you're entitled to a 6 year warranty. Not a product I'd take seriousley when all is considered.

I was so set on Eight Sleep until I saw the subscription model, that’s just money grabbing attempt. Our phone can totally store the data and algorithm needed for the app. This doesn’t need to be cloud enabled. So silly.

    Great review!
I had the 8 Sleep 3 Pod Cover (biggest size) and we gave it back for some reasons:
    - it was not that comfortable as expected. We have firm mattresses already and this made it more stiff
    - it never reached the set temperature if I was in bed. 21 degrees Celsius was the minimum which was not cold enough for me. The problem is, we have in summer 26-27 degrees in the bedroom and 8 Sleep states, above 24 degrees Celsius it is less efficient. Proved.
    - it heats up the room by 2-3 degrees Celsius so it end up at 29 degrees Celsius and then it doesn’t work that good anymore.
So as you said the Dock Pro is more colder, would you then recommend it for our situation? I guess two devices can handle the heat a little be better than only one. Also with Dock Pro a blanket could be connected too.
    Many thanks in advance!
    Sasha

Have you found a better solution already? I have the same issue with the roomteperature beeing above 26-29 degrees during summer and I was thinking about buying 8Sleep or some other cooling system for better sleep quality. From what I have heard 8Sleep often has leaking issues and now as you said it heating up the room even more is maybe counterproductive.

Eight Sleeps membership fee is a dealbreaker for me. But Im also worried about the Dock Pro leaking... When these things do fail, does that typically only happen under the pump device, like you mentioned? I have hardwood floors and obviously not going to put a tarp under the whole bed.

I DJ and work the nightlife and have trouble sleeping because I have a hard time lowering my body temperature. I have purchased an Ooler in the past, and it seemed to work well. However, over time, I had to send it back because it stopped working. It's been a couple of years, and the Ooler mattress cover started leaking, so I stopped using it. I was thinking about getting a dock pro instead of replacing the ooler mattress, but after doing research and hearing about the Sleep Me company and many complaints that the dock pro leaks. I'm seriously thinking about taking the leap to Eight sleep instead. I see the Pod 3 and 4. I'm sure which one to get. Is there a big difference besides the price? Just looking for some insight b4 I pull the trigger.

Your sleep quality when you don't use the eight sleep will likely be similar to what it was before you used it. And there are other things you're able to do to support better quality sleep, and that's important to keep in mind especially when you travel. When I travel, I try to eat meals at the same time each day (and not too close to bedtime), get sunshine in the morning, and I'll usually take a magnesium supplement in the evening.

Here's another thing they don't tell you... a negative factor that once you know the truth, will keep you from buying one. EMF (electro magnetic frequency) in the form of bluetooth and/or WIFI is damaging to the human body...but never moreso than at night when you are sleeping. The body communicates through small electrical impulses and WIFI interrupts those impulses. You should never sleep with the phone next to your bed unless it's in airplane mode. And worse, you should never, ever charge the phone next to where you sleep. You'd be shocked how much dirty electricity comes off the charging cable which can be measured with a meter. So the fact the Eight Sleep requires WIFI/bluetooth runs counter to anything it happens to be doing for you. Your sleeping area in particular should be as EMF free as possible in order to secure a good night's deep sleep.
In addition, blue wavelength light (which is what comes off your phone) shuts off Melatonin production in the brain and cells! So the fact that Eight Sleep requires you to click your phone on in the middle of the night, AND even have it next to you for 'easy' access, shows me that they have no clue what they're doing when it comes to sleep. They F'd themselves in more ways than one for anyone who knows what's what. Sorry not sorry Eight Sleep.

You lost me at spending 3K on a smart sleep solution and then having to bring and mess with my own distilled water and hydrogen peroxide for setup and maintenance. Nah lol.

One thing these "reviews" do is skim over the setup. At most showing them attaching the nozzle to the hub and that's it.
I want to see where you fed the tubes and how long they are. I have an ottoman bed, so there is no gap underneath my mattress.

The speed of the CPU on your smartphone can make a meaningful difference for usability, but… an 8-bit microcontroller won’t be any slower than the fastest modern PC/Mac processor for measuring and reacting to temperature changes and controlling all the machinery.
More likely they moved to a faster CPU/microcontroller (oddly enough) as a cost-saving measure: beyond a certain point, there’s no profit in making low-end processors nobody uses, on old larger chip tech, when you can sell faster processors that are actually now easier to make cheaper due to economies of scale.
But, selling it as an advantage is good marketing 🤣🤣🤣

"It isn't sponsored but they did send me the product". Yeah, in law that's a sponsored advert.
