      @gioac96 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@I_WILL_SUB_BACK_IF_YOU_SUB you pay registration for your car because roads cost a fortune to maintain. You could argue that servers for the app also have costs, but I can guarantee you they cost orders of magnitude less than 15$ a month per user. Moreover, there are absolutely 0 reasons why you should need an app to control this mattress, and there are absolutely 0 reasons why this app needs to connect to remote servers.
      The reason it costs so much is because it’s recurring revenue, which is much more appealing to investors than one-time big sales.

    Rather than an away mode, they should add a weight sensor. If it senses more than 50 lbs of weight turn on the side that has weight. They could also add in a alarm for when someone gets out of bed. This is useful for patients with dementia and can prevent a geriatric from falling down stairs like my grandma did

    What is the cooling capability of the mattress if the room temperature is around 75 degrees?

  • @TobiasDettinger
    @TobiasDettinger 5 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

    For me personally its more important to be cool in summer than warm in winter. Biologically the body likes cooler temps to calm down the body and produce melatonine. I cant really sleep well over 18°C. And especially in hot summers when my room doesnt cools under 25°C i basically sweat while laying flat. So cooled beds are the way to go over energy hungry air conditioning which just are heaters for outsides and if you live in dense urban areas the heat is commulating in the near area. So basically the air conditioning heats itself up more and more...

    Re your comment on hydrogen peroxide, how long does it take to degrade? From Healthline, “ Hydrogen peroxide is relatively unstable and decomposes quickly. In a sealed container, hydrogen peroxide lasts approximately 3 years. However, as soon as you open the container, it starts to break down. You might be surprised to learn that it's only effective for 1 to 6 months once the container is opened.”
    I would think that after six months, you just have water circulating through the device.

    On 13:03 testing temperature. IR temp isn't really temp itself, but heat-radiation. For an example of a common error: opening a restaurant walk-in fridge door and measuring, since the interior is all stainless steel, it reflects the radiation of the outside, so you get a too high temperature reading.
    (Caveat: I don't know what the "emissivity" setting does. Maybe that's actually the "reflectivity" I described above; but why call it emiss… as if it actually emitted something in itself?)

    The problem with this bed is that its WAY too expensive!! I don't see the justification to charge $4000 or more just for a mattress! Warning MOST people who review this are not big people! I'm 6'4" and 265lbs and had a super comfortable latex mattress that sadly did get too hot and woke me up so I bought the 8Sleep pod. The tracking is amazing and I found myself eating better, gave up alcohol and now don't wake up due to being hot. It's very uncomfortable for BIG people so am waking up at same time due to being sore especially when I role over to my side my shoulder hurts so bad which wakes me up. It cuts the comfort of a latex or memory foam mattress 30-40% for BIG people. I'm probably going to return it.

Entire company was essentially CEO worship and as soon as I met with the CEI was clear he was not interested in me because of my weight. He kept stressing it was a fitness company and that someone would need to be a "representative" of that. Definitely would not recommend if you choose to spend your money with reputable people.

    When I watched the first Video, and knowing how you have to seal your room against any ingress of light , doesn't the heat extracted from the mattress just raise the room temperature ?

    • @ThioJoe
      @ThioJoe  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Technically you're correct, if the room is sealed off with no airflow, the overall room temperature would increase. However, in my case that is negated because I do keep my air conditioning running at night. There is an air vent that gets some cool air in there, it's just not a huge amount, but it is enough to cool the room overall.
      Also, I'd say the benefit of the mattress being cooled and the heat being "moved" away from the body, is more than worth the 'cost' of the air temperature being increased by whatever inefficiencies in the machine. I'll have to buy one of those power meter things to be able to tell the actual wattage being pulled from the unit which would give a specific amount. But I think depending on the construction of the house/room, the outside climate, and the insulation of the room, then the heat from the unit might end up being negligible compared to those factors anyway.

Do you feel like you're laying on something wet? I'd like to know more about feel. Seems like it may be unpleasant for some.

    • @marvfromthecity
      @marvfromthecity ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Initially you can feel the water coursing through as the pod circulates the water throughout the mattress, but goes away after a few moments. You can feel the cabling, but I dont notice it anymore. It feels like a apple lightening cable almost. Theres no vibration on my active grid- once the pod is on and has circulated the water its relatively quiet. Maybe a faint hum from the pod, but nothing compared to the competition. Laying on the mattress at colder temps is like laying on cold concrete. Its so icy like a gucci mane song. Warmer temps feels great, though towards the higher temps may start sweating (im a hot sleeper). Overall I love the eight sleep and can’t recommend it enough…thats if one can afford it. Previously my old mattress memory foam would heat up and id overheat at night. Uncomfortable. With 8 im able to sleep through the night.

    Thio, not to get into your personal life, but one of the concerns that crosses my mind is, how does this bed cover hold up to withstanding the vigorousness of having sex on it? Now, I don't want to know about what or how your sex life is, I just want to know if having sex on it, how does this stand up to all the "gymnastics" performed on it over a course of time? Because, this bed is very expensive and if it constantly breaks because of the sex people are performing on it, then this would be a waste of money.
    Sleeping on the mattre3ss and having sex on it, are too different things and from what you have only reported in this video, it appears there had not been any reporting about how this mattress holds up to with having sex on it.

Bas experience. Customer service says yhat their sizes are 79.5 x 74.5 which is definitely NOT the case - - the diff is much more than that. This "Smart Mattress" will make you less resistant to any outside factor that you could meet on another mattress therefore makes you mentally crippled for those factors.
    "The more crouches you have the more it hurts when they kicked out from under you" I don't know you but I prefer internal control to my body opposed to external control to my body.

    Ah now I see how they use one tank to treat both sides. Cool or heat the tank, deliver then start the cool or heat and deliver cycle for other side. That would drive me nuts. Also no physical buttons so I’m blinded by my searing phones light. Actually have to wait, sit up so I can focus to see my phone. Only full zip cover is attractive. But the dockpro has physical buttons I can work with blind touch. And separate tanks fir constant flow. Both suck with sleep tracking. All slerp trackers suck. Wildly inaccurate. Even OURA. Although dockpro does not zip around mattress and feels like shit compared to eight sleep. But the on/off tank switch if eight sleep would wake me instantly. Both are evolving but still far from perfect.
