Jhope was a dancer first before he became a rapper. Jcole is his biggest musical inspiration since the beginning. He danced to a lot of his songs, mentioned Cole in their earlier songs and now seeing Jhope just dancing on top of the beat while his muse is rapping in his OWN song makes it even more special. I’m beyond proud of Jhope
SCRU: I think Cole is saying just the opposite. I think he saying, that others want his crown and are trying to say it's time to give it up but the older Cole understands, the more he raps, the more confident he becomes. The stronger he gets. I needed a song like this. I forgot how much I love that slow vibin', voices ridin' the beat/hip hop. It really takes me back to the 90's, also Jhope's Jacket.
10000% agree! I think people are missing this. He literally says he’s not going anywhere he’s still hungry. He’s got a different type of hunger the more he eats (makes music) the more it gets stronger. He’s not going anywhere. I think the verbiage in this song making references to leaving are about Jhope since this is his last song/last MV before mandatory military enlistment for 2 years.
J-Hope dropped this JUST after announcing his opting out of enlistment postponement, so that on top of him collaborating with his idol, is a whole ass dog pile of emotions. 🥲💜
I think Cole is saying he’s realizing that the game is growing and he wants to give space for it to evolve. The hunger and the realization that he’s still getting better at the art form is what’s keeping him here but Hip Hop has to make space for the next up.
When cole said the verse about the father with tears in his eyes letting his daughter "grow" he did not say "go" but "grow" then cole paused followed by "so i shall" meaning he's ready to grow more, more than what he has achieved so far. Recently Cole been having collabs with amazing different artists and that is what i got from that verse -- He's expanding --- Man is not yet done. He's hungry for more!
This was J Hope's farewell to ARMY as he is going to do his mandatory military service. J Cole was his biggest inspiration in his teens as he danced to J Cole's music and he was in an underground dance crew called Neuron. Hence the scene where he is dancing underground to J Cole's rap. This is paying homage to J Cole. The music video even starts in the street J Cole used in one of his MVs, old style hip hop, the Avirex jack and having J Cole up high above, his idol. The MV shooting sketch is adorable, J Hope fan-boying over J Cole. Fantastic collab 💜
J - Hope loves old school hip hop beats I would assume. Considering his last album was full of it. Most of his music is. This song is most likely made for the fans since he has been enlisted in the army, and is getting ready to leave. Fun fact: J - Hope is a huge fan of J Cole so, this collab I assume would mean a lot to him. Meaning we get the Hope World and Cole World mix!
j-hope is a South Korean Rapper, he makes his own music. he's a great lyricist and a marvelous dancer. j-hope is joining the Military Service soon (it's mandatory for Koreans), so "On The Street" is his goodbye song for his fans until he returns in some years. He used to dance to J Cole's songs when he was a street dancer, his favorite album is Cole's album "Friday Night Lights" , an inspiration to start making his own beats. Also, he named his first mixtape as "Hope World" after "Cole World", even now, he showed the big respect he has for JCole, he gave many bars to JCole while j-hope was dancing to his bars, as he used to do when he was an underground dancer. j-hope is a hip hop lover who has been experimenting on many directions to his music, he recently released his solo album "Jack in The Box", its really an album for hip-hop lovers. To end, j-hope joining JCole for meeting at the roof is really meaningful and doing a song with his muse, as j-hope said, its really especial. Fun facts: They met at Lollapalooza, where j-hope was a headliner, Their meeting is on "j-hope in the Box" as documentary at Disney+ j-hope was whistling, and he loved the melody, so he went to studio and recorded it, thats how this song started.
J Cole is part of the building block of BTS’ rap line and the soul of their art. I can see why. I don’t speak Korean but did a lot of research on the rap line’s lyrics. I came to the same conclusion as comments about J Cole’s lyricism. I wish I could understand Korean so I could appreciate them as I can Cole’s A proper coda in J Hope’s full circle journey with J Cole. J Hope started as a boy in Korea dancing to J Cole, he is now dancing again to J Cole, literally from the bottom, subways, to the top. Embracing his role model on a roof top. As he wonder through the street. His life. His past. A lot of sentimentality here. Reflection, gratitude, tribute, and letting go of the past, as you keep change and moving forward. This is not kpop though…
I appreciate your research and you understand JHopes significance here and why this collab with J Cole means so much to the BTS ARMY. Unfortunately, people call music as KPOP which KPOP isn't a genre, instead its an industry. In Korea they have all the same genres we have here in the states... even COUNTRY... just Koreans doing it. BTS's music discography covers all genres from RnB, POP, ROCK, Alternative, Latin Pop, Ballads, and Hip Hop with one of the best RAP Lines in the business, ...etc.
I like how Eminem and cole talk about the rap game like being a father marriage etc it’s smooth how they describe they relationship with rap with details and all
remember j.cole's MV "SIMBA" ? he walked on the same alley where jhope walked on the first scene of this MV. respect for jhope for giving the floor to his idol, it's just amazing that j.cole's verse resonates well with J-Hope's lyrics from his songs "ARSON" & "MORE" Love the way this collaboration came out, I'm happy for j-hope, him as a j.cole fan cause from being a street dancer, loving hiphop and become a rapper, this is a dream come true for him. I'm surely gonna miss this man's positivity once he enlisted in the military 🪖
Thanks for such an unbiased and open-minded reaction, you gained a new subscriber. J-Hope is using a lot of intentional symbolism in this video (the side street and intersection from what I understand is inspired by an early J.Cole video, the subway corresponds with JColes bars and the subway stop that inspired Jay Zs moniker, the journey through the streets, through the underground and to the pinnacle (rooftop) where he can finally meet up with his inspiration. He started as an underground hip hop street dancer (thus the underground scene) inspired by the Culture, and has always claimed JCole as a Muse and major inspiration...that's why he gave him 32 bars and danced while he rapped...he came full circle while also leaving this gift for his fans and paying homage to HIS OWN IDOL. DOPE
Also the little kid in the beginning is wearing the same clothes as JCole the adult. So maybe not just a representation of ARMY but also a representation of growing up and evolving. It can't be coincidental, BTS never does things by accident.
This is J-Hope this is what he's about, he don't front for no one. You see it how it is. J-Hope aka Hobi is BTS dancer and rapper. Whenever they do solo projects/albums it's so their fanbase can see what they're personally like. So we can know their perception of things and their thoughts and feelings. J-Hope is BTS's sunshine, the happy go lucky guy in the group but on his solo work omg this man is deep. J.Cole has been real inspo for him, you can look at his Hope World album and see it for yourself. BTS also released a version "Born Singer" in 2013 remade from "Born Sinner" from J.Cole with his permission recently. J.Cole is one of Hobi's biggest motive and muse. The song was produced by J-Hope and P.Dogg, he got J.Cole's lyrics 4days before he releasing the song. So like any Korean male they have to do 2yrs mandatory military service and Hobi has enlisted. This song is his goodbye track for the moment and his reason for J.Cole getting all those lines is so J-Hope could enjoy his last moments before going m.i.a. J.Cole was speaking for Hobi in the goodbye lines and just saying it's goodbye for the moment but he'll be back, and when he's back it'll definitely go down. Hobi is a sunshine we all definitely need at some point.
I love how humble BTS is when collaborating with their older Idols, they give them full range out of respect.Jimin did the same thing with Taeyang when they recorded Vibe. They try not to outshine them out of respect. This collab was beautiful, true Army understands the lyrics.J Hope and J Cole.I love it.I miss my Hobi already.
to me, from jcoles verse it seems like he’s been debating on whether or not to quit but in his verse he explains that he’s not stopping now and he’s still hungry for more. It’s not over yet. I used to watch your reaction back in the day. j-hope has since released a new album called Jack in the Box. It actually has a lot of connections to what jcole was saying. In j-hope’s song Arson he debates with himself on whether to leave his career while he is at the top of his popularity, or to go even higher. In his song MORE he talks about how his work essentially keeps him alive and he wants more. The overall album is an heavily old school hiphop influenced.
I REALLY think he’s talking about Jhope when he’s rapping the “you gotta letting her go” verse. Because this is Jhope’s official last song before he has to enlist in the military for 2 years. It’s a big deal and an important music video. People keep saying Cole’s about to retire, as well, but I think he alluded to the fact that he’s still too hungry to retire right now with his last verse repeated “the more I eat the more it gets stronger” referring to his hunger for making music.
I think both meanings apply! Both artists at are crossroads in their careers, Cole's meesage has definitely even similarities with what J-hope's saying in Jack in the Box with More and Arson and I agree i think he's saying he's not retiring rn! And Cole saying he wants to let it grow as opposed to let it go, implies even when he'll pass on the baton he's still gonna be around!
Nobody I leaving. They are both saying goodbye to what was past and embracing the future. J Hope is literally leaving for the military. This is his last song before. After military he won’t be the same man. And so. He won’t be the same musician. Cole has been around for a long time. It is natural for him to look back and think of the future.
Thanks for the reaction and if no one told you, that is J Hope whistling throughout the song and he made the beat from his whistling producing the song. There's a documentary J Hope made.
For those who don't know. J.Cole is j-Hopes biggest influence/inspiration and muse. JHopes album "HOPE WORLD" is a play on J.Coles first album "Cole World". The BTS song "Born Singer" is also a play on J.Coles song "Born Sinner". The Avirex fit jhope is wearing is also homage to J.Cole. The street jhope was on at the beginning is the SAME EXACT street J.Cole filmed his "SIMBA" music video on. And jhope dancing during Coles verse is because jhope before BTS used to dance to J.Cole songs back in the day.. The visual easter eggs and homage paid to J.Cole in this by jhope is insane. Shows his genuine love for a GOAT like J.Cole. This whole collab is legendary and will be cemented in history forever.. This a big W for Kpop and HipHop P.s. This song is sort of a "goodbye for a LITTLE while" to BTS fans since jhope is about to go enlist to do his 2 YEAR mandatory military service. He'll be the 2nd member to enlist.
People going to respect Cole, when its all set and done I know they dont like him right now but in due time people will realize how dope Cole is. He bene in the game 10+ years and still sound hungry. This is my first time hearing J Hope and he sounds dope.
@@bazza1024 I Love J Cole The Legendary Rapper Ever Extremely Talented Artist Goat Nobody wants to hear The Truth instead wanna hear Trash Rappers They don't make any sense at all
J Hope is joining the Korean Military Soon, it's Mandatory for Koreans, so this was his goodbye Git for Fans. He used to dance to J Cole's Songs when he was still a Street Dancer, and after a listen to Friday Night Lights, he started writing songs and making his own Beats. He even named his first Mix Tape Hope-World after Cole-World. That's also the reason he gave Jermaine so many bars in his Song, he did out of respect. Recommend Checking out his Album Jack in the Box, it's a Hip Hop Album with lots of 90s Style Beats and crazy lyrics. Songs that i recommend, Arson, More, Stop, What if (he sampled ODB on that one), Airplane and Daydream.
Love your reaction… wish the radio stations would play this song.. it’s a masterpiece collab…. Too bad Big Hit don’t do payola with the radio station so my hope to hear this on radio is zero expectation.. I’m so glad Jermaine’s fans are so open minds to give this song a chance.. thank you all for this
Love this song! What an iconic meaningful collaboration! We are all happy for J-HOPE!!! Love all 7 of them individually and as a team!!! Thank you for your reaction! From a grateful ARMY 💜💜💜
Lol I loved your lil rant ... He's not leaving. In here he was like first THIS IS THE ONLY THING HE CAN DO SO WELL, THEN came the stage of letting go, and then he decided to contemplate again, and he realized NAAA, HE'S TOO HUNGRY FOR THE GAME SO MUCH SO THAT HIS HUNGER CAN'T BE TAMED, SO HE'S GONNA HAVE A BUFFET (Golden Coral) WHILE RISING TO THE TOP!!!
THANK YOU. Everybody is missing him saying that he has to let it go at some point but he clearly says right now is not that time. He even ends the song repeating the verse about “the more I eat the more it gets stronger” referring to his hunger for making music. I’m seeing so many people misunderstand him and assume he’s saying he’s retiring now. I wish people would pay attention. The human mind is a weird thing.
No knock but the little shade about "that's how science works" is misguided. The trillion nerves are in reference to how intricate and insanely complex the body and the universe is and yet works in perfect harmony almost with a mind of its own. It's awe inspiring. The average person can't even explain in depth and full understanding HOW science works to begin with 😂 and even then there are still things that leave even the brightest minds stumped. You don't have to believe in any direction but let's not be pompous
Lmao the reaction to the religious part. I'm Agnostic myself, but I listened to it from a believer's viewpoint so it didn't stop the meaning for me.. plus the tying back to the Hell part at the beginning. I've watched many hip hop reactions and your breakdown/explanation of the rhyme scheme with the claps is something I haven't seen on YT, which is crazy since we love our claps, so you got a new subscriber. 100% in agreement about how other artists being are able to go back to other genres or growing old into their genres. I think this is why J. Cole was open to collaborate with J. Hope - yes, he is a rapper but it's still something different.
I feel like hip hop is so competitive, so as an artist you can get consumed by it. Every year we debate who’s the best who is better etc… so in a sense it is an evolution to not be consumed by this competitive urge.
This is J-Hope last song before he has to enlist in the military for 18 months. Not all BTS videos are colorful and bright. Check out BTS version of J. Cole's Born Sinner called Born Singer.
Hello! ARMY appreciate you reacting to the MV. J Cole is not walking away from the game. I think he’s found a new chapter. As for J Hope, in a way this is a full circle to him. He started with J Cole as inspiration to rapping. It’s also a farewell letter to ARMY (fans) to inspire them to continue living, growing & changes as his military duties are in effect soon. Remember love yourself & speak yourself! 💜
Every single reaction to this song has the exact same comments 😂😂 At this point I feel like I know J Hopes entire life story cuz of all the comments saying the exact same thing
My only wish is that in J Hope's part he had maybe skipped one repetition of the chorus to rap a little more but overall I love this so much. Love this vibe and it's so amazing to see these two together.
Personally, I think his goal was to give his muse, his inspiration time to shine while he dances underground. Like back in the day when he was a kid. But, I also wished he would do another verse. It took me a while to realize why he didn't.
@@cathismith9817 Yeah, I get the reasoning for that section but still think it would have been stronger if he had rapped longer. Could have just skipped the second use of the hook and extended his rap section without shortening Cole's rap or his dance at all. I still love the song and collab overall but that's my one disappointment.
LOVE your thoughtful reaction and dissection! I especially like how you highlighted, as a multilingual, how difficult it can be to switch languages seamlessly while rapping (it happens to be kind of a thing for BTS). On the subject of JCole's verse about growth: obviously, it can be left for interpretation (taken in different ways by different people), but what he's also saying is very pertinent to JHope and his career. As others have surely commented here, this collab is a gift from JHope to ARMY (his/BTS's massive global fanbase) because all 7 of the BTS members are enlisting into the South Korean mandatory military service (SK and NKorea have been in a cold war for decades; all able bodied men have to enlist by a certain age and serve for approx 18 months - no matter what your career looks like). Each BTS member will transition into their enlistment activities after they complete their promos and solo projects. 1 BTS member is already serving his duty; JHope is next. BTS shared how they can't remain the same as they head into another phase in life and how they're trying to look at it as a 'growth' opportunity as artists, with a plan to regroup in 2025 and each member bringing back their newfound life experiences to the BTS table. After BTS announced their intentions to enlist, however, everyone's been lining up to take a shot at their 'crown' (no group from SK, and arguable, anywhere else on the globe, has otherwise been able to touch BTS's worldwide level of collective successes). Where JCole comes in: A lot of people don't know this, but BTS started as a hip hop group, grinding their way from broke bare bottom to the top of the top, earning every bit of their accolades... they were not a highly funded, manufactured typical (Kpop) boyband, as they're often perceived as. BTS - and most definitely JHope - have been long time fans of JCole for years (see BTS's 2015 live performance sampling JCole's music for their song "Born Singer", revamped in 2017 and 2022 as the group grew in popularity). But JCole has been JHope's muse for years, all the way back to when JH was street dancing. Anyway, before BTS got as huge as they are today, JH started this thing, "Hope on the Street", where he'd video himself (sometimes with other BTS members) freestyle dancing to beats (including Cole's) to share with fans. This collab w/ JC, 'on the street', is like a continuation of that. You see, JH is not only 1 of 3 rappers of BTS, he's also their Dance Leader... and bro can hardly stand still (kinda reminds me of MJ that way, always feeling the music in his bones). The other 2 rappers in the group, RM (BTS's leader/1st member) and SUGA (2nd member) both came from the SK underground rap scene - their styles tend to be harder, rapid fire, lyrically rich; JHope (3rd member) developed a melodic/layered rap style (he's a singer too) while rooming w/ RM and SUGA before BTS debuted as a 7 member group (with 4 vocalists). All 3 BTS rappers are songwriters/producers with the most song credits in the group (all 7 BTS members are songwriters/producers). As JCole created "Cole World", J Hope created "Hope World" (living epitome of hope)... anyone could make a good guess as to who is among JHope's biggest inspirations. How they met: JH and JC met in person for the first time at Lollapalooza 2022 (Chicago), when JHope was cutting history as the 1st SK artist to headline for Lolla, soon after JH dropped his solo album (Jack In The Box). JHope said that after Lolla, when he began writing this farewell-for-now bit as a gift to ARMY, he kept thinking of JCole (his long-time muse). For JH to be at a place in his career where he can be graced by his muse featured on his music is no doubt a dream come true for JH, who sincerely describes Cole as a kind person. Side note: Behind the scenes clips of BTS projects are traditionally released by their label, so we expect to see JCole in some clips soon:)✌
The mad thing for me is that I got into K-Pop and rap more and more around the same time, and J Cole is the one who really got me passionate about it as a genre, and now they are combined into a pairing I never considered. Mad.
Thank you for listening to J-hope. He is an amazing rapper and artist, you should definitely check out his other works. He started out a street dancer and used to freestyle to lot of hip-hop songs, including J.Cole's. From dancing to J.Cole's songs to finally dancing to his verse on his own song, he really came full circle with his younger self. That scene of him dancing in the subway and J.Cole verse playing at the same time is so perfect in that sense :) Jhope is Enlisting soon in the military as per the Korean laws, it's mandatory. So, this is his last gift to his fans before going. He'll be back in 2 years :(
He already has checked out his other stuff. I understand your intent with this comment, but I really need army who don’t mess with hiphop music to stop commenting long ass synopses in rappers comments because it’s off-putting and corny. Unless they specifically ask questions, please refrain from leaving these long comments. There are a lot of us ARMYs who are hiphop heads and who can engage with these reactors in a much less corny way that would get the desired response you’re looking for.
I knew you would catch every aspect of the of how dope this track is from the beat, to the bars and the code switching! I was waiting for your reaction ALL day yesterday!!
beautiful heartfelt reaction....thank you!! I feel your pain....this better not be JCole's swan song...no way....BTS reaching crazy nooks and crannies of the planet hopefully inspires him to fed more souls with his art and passion....right now I can see algorithms in google spiking for Golden Corral and Avirex...didn't know these terms til JHope's MV 🤭
I would argue that Cole is not pushing the narrative you put forth. The metaphor suggests that it is Hip Hop that is growing and evolving when you step back. A Father walking his daughter down the aisle doesn't mean he won't still be her father after she's married. His role might be different, but he'll still be there looking after her.
J cole man jus a smooth criminal 🔥🔥 I am glad he decided to pick up the mic and write what comes to mind like cole said he got a lot in the vault some gets played some he slept on so much work he has in storage I wish he would release it before retirement which also should be his last album name
PREACH! I love your passion. It is why I was drawn to your reactions in the first place. I feel what you are saying. But... I took it a different way. I hope that working with j-hope and seeing how much he affected this amazing other artsist's life, that he will see he is needed. That billboard list was SH$T. Most greats aren't appreciated in their own time. But he is evolving. This song is proof. It's old school Hip Hop and new at the same time. It gave me a weird sense of hope that the music can change (or be saved from imploding upon itself) I felt like he is getting hungry again. What an amazing thought provoking collaboration. j-hope has lived up to his name again and given me hope. Because we know in order to stay where BTS is they too have to evolve. And I look forward to all of it. 😘💜🧡🫰🏻
I felt he is sharing with us that he has had those thoughts at times, but then he shares that truthful statement about his strange type of HUNGER. Chin up, He is also trying to tell young talented men like U to not give up try harder. Come on SCRU get up here lets GO!!!!! J-Hope like U has such great respect for this man J Cole. In their rap song HIP Hop Lover J-Hope did a SHOUT OUT to J Cole long before this colab with him. ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
J.Cole ain't retiring. J-Hope is Korean and as any Korean male they have mandatory military service they have to do for 2yrs. J-Hope already enlisted and he has a set date to start his duty. J.Cole in those words was speaking for J-Hope aka Hobi, this was Hobi's goodbye song. But when Hobi's back, you definitely know it'll be fire.
I 100% agree. In fact that runs parallel with the the notion of Kpop. It's not a genre, its an industry with multiple genres in it, but people still try to paint it with one brush. Likewise hip-hop and alllll it's sub-genres and vibes and regions is this multi-faceted thing that people need to stop assigning it one single identity. That's another reason this colab is so beautiful. These gentlemen both get it. Plus while Hobi doesn't have a choice cause he has to join the military, Cole still is able to choose to stick around at least for a little bit. But for both of them, it's a craft they want to keep returning to. Even sooner if North Korea quits being a thing anymore. Then we get Hobi and Jin back faster.
Love your reaction !!! appreciate your little bit of prior knowledge of j-hope and respect for the bilingual rap ! It’s interesting what you say about this not really being kpop because the genre of kpop is very disputed, especially with bts. I would argue j-hope as a soloist is definitely nOt kpop, he’s just Korean, and a lot of bts songs I wouldn’t categorise in that genre/industry either, given their hip hop roots and how experimental they are across genres and moods. I’d actually argue dynamite isn’t a good representation of what bts mostly does at all ! They have a lot of upbeat songs, but they’re also very well known for songs like black swan and fake love, and others like On. But their beginnings sound a Lot like this song, they reallyyyyy started with hip hop influence and tribute. Anyway thanks for the great reaction ! This song is made for fans bc j hope is about to start his mandatory military service, so it’s a kind of goodbye and a special song for j-hope himself whose a massive j Cole fan since he was young - hence why he gave Cole MORE than the lions share on this one ! It’s kinda sad that just as he leaves for 2 years he might be about to draw in a new audience from this collab - but there’s lots of back catalogue to explore !
Thanks for the reaction man! If anyone wants, you can check out Jack In The Box by jhope; it's his most recent album and you can see how he goes about his verses (since he had much less time for his verse in this one). He loves old school type beats too, if that interests yall.
I love this tune and it’s background story. Cole is such a good dude man! Shouting out Dilated Peoples too, Expansion Team was my gateway into hip hop. Good memories and simpler times👌
Don't worry! I don't think J. Cole will stop rapping, I think he continue but maybe in a different way.. Like J-Hope with his individual album Jack In The Box; that was different but still maintained his essence so I hope that it means the same with J. Cole... They continue doing amazing music for us, for their fans because it is part of they...Im ARMY and now I'm starting be a fan of J. Cole.. Here's a fact: the song itself is J-Hope's farewell to his fans because he is going to do military service in South Korea which is mandatory for everyone; so the song feels like a farewell but it's not J. Cole's but J-Hope's for 2 years so don't get too anxious OK?
A creator does not have to be an entity. It can be energy. Every time I see a sunset, see people smiling, feel the rain on my skin, I get that feeling. I feel that energy
I feel like with J Cole he isn’t saying he needs to evolve out of rapping but when he said “the moon jumps over the cow” it’s backwards. Like he is now the old head in the rap game
I felt the same way with the “Got a friend smart af, but he stupid as hell” line. I don’t think he’s stupid for needing more proof but I also think Cole was acknowledging that in some way his friend is intelligent for wanting more proof hence the “Got a friend smart af” line. I’m not religious at all but I know people need some kind of hope to guide them through life. I just choose the people I have around me & myself to have hope in since I can prove my existence by simply existing.
Never thought about it like that but you were definitely spitting some facts about how the evolution always seems to be to leave, but I think it ties into that whole mentality that your only rapping at your best when your hungry and that hunger only comes from the struggle when your young and still tryna climb to the top, but when your comfortable at the top and there are no more struggles what's left to say? But I like how Cole flips it in this song and says that his hunger will only get stronger, because I still think there is definitely still more to talk about especially as his audience grows up with him
I think, you should listen to the lyrics again! He's telling us that he's not yet ready to leave something that he truly loves, he haven't seen some one who could truly replace him and he's love for the music 😊 He still got what it takes to keep the hip-hop genre alive, and though change is imminent, there's the Hope and Cole world.
It’s not cole saying goodbye, it’s Jhope, he’s enlisting to the military soon (mandatory in korea), this is his temporary goodbye song, not Cole’s, he just chanelling it
I’ve watched about a dozen of these reactions to, “On The Street” and yours, by far, was the most intelligent. Appreciate your point of view! If Cole is preparing to retire maybe it’s less about feeling like he needs to evoke beyond Hip Hop and more about stepping back to spend more time with his wife and kids. Touring is brutal and it has to take a toll on any significant relationship so… time will tell but great song and thought review 🥰🥰
Hi, I remember your reactions from quite a while ago, nice to see you again, and that we at least are all still here, fighting on. I found your reaction really interesting, and just wanted to add that I think it takes great skill and maturity to do hip hop like a real master. And you are right, what other form gives us the truth in such weighted and necessary measures?
Hey you know your sht. Thats right jhope and the rappers in bts don't make kpop. It's straight hiphop man. BTS rappers make bilingual hiphop music. I would say even bts is a hiphop group. They have only a handful of pop tracks... rest is all edm and hiphop. Especially if you dive into their albums. This collab is incredible. For jhope to finally make a track with his idol. Jcole didn't half ass this shit. He could have, so many other collabing with bts have written terrible terrible bars.... cus they don't take bts seriously. J. cole saw real talent and he gave it his all. So much respect to him.
But J Cole ain't talking about the rap game like it's some toxic shit that he needs to outgrow. He says it's like a daughter that he has to let grow/go. Maybe his passion just isn't there anymore, or he wants to do something else
Dreams do come true😭💜
SCRU: I think Cole is saying just the opposite. I think he saying, that others want his crown and are trying to say it's time to give it up but the older Cole understands, the more he raps, the more confident he becomes. The stronger he gets. I needed a song like this. I forgot how much I love that slow vibin', voices ridin' the beat/hip hop. It really takes me back to the 90's, also Jhope's Jacket.
yes🎉
10000% agree! I think people are missing this. He literally says he’s not going anywhere he’s still hungry. He’s got a different type of hunger the more he eats (makes music) the more it gets stronger. He’s not going anywhere. I think the verbiage in this song making references to leaving are about Jhope since this is his last song/last MV before mandatory military enlistment for 2 years.
Interesting take!
That’s what I got from it… especially when he said” But First..” To me sound like he ain’t ready yet🫶🏾💜
Some what right but in the recent sound track on creed 3 there was a line that sounded he was going to drop one last album and retire
J-Hope dropped this JUST after announcing his opting out of enlistment postponement, so that on top of him collaborating with his idol, is a whole ass dog pile of emotions. 🥲💜

He didn't say he was leaving. He said he was going to hang on to the crown. His love for Hip Hop won't let him let it it go.
Pretty sure he’s hesitant to let go of rapping, but he’s already announced which albums he has left before he’s done
I think Cole is saying he’s realizing that the game is growing and he wants to give space for it to evolve. The hunger and the realization that he’s still getting better at the art form is what’s keeping him here but Hip Hop has to make space for the next up.
Agreed! And I also think it has to do with letting JHope grow …. Into more than what his fans know of him.
Fun facts:
They met at Lollapalooza, where j-hope was a headliner, Their meeting is on "j-hope in the Box" as documentary at Disney+
j-hope was whistling, and he loved the melody, so he went to studio and recorded it, thats how this song started.
J Cole is part of the building block of BTS’ rap line and the soul of their art.
I can see why. I don’t speak Korean but did a lot of research on the rap line’s lyrics. I came to the same conclusion as comments about J Cole’s lyricism. I wish I could understand Korean so I could appreciate them as I can Cole’s
A proper coda in J Hope’s full circle journey with J Cole.
BTS's music discography covers all genres from RnB, POP, ROCK, Alternative, Latin Pop, Ballads, and Hip Hop with one of the best RAP Lines in the business, ...etc.
j-hope loves his record scratches. He was the sound engineer for this track. But every song he touches has record scratches in it. haha
Cole making his verse as a praise to God is amazing. Great collab here 🔥🔥🔥

DOPE
Simba
i didn't pick up on the symbolism of j cole on the rooftop the whole time and hobi made his way up!! amazing
Also the little kid in the beginning is wearing the same clothes as JCole the adult. So maybe not just a representation of ARMY but also a representation of growing up and evolving. It can't be coincidental, BTS never does things by accident.
also the name of his dancing vlogs: Hope On The Street
J in the air
J-hope and JCole on top
Air jordan
Points up towards Jesus
That's sick. I didn't notice that meaning by jhope
J cole never gives a weak verse man , damn 🔥
frrr
@@mae__ for sure!
This a big W for Kpop and HipHop
P.s. This song is sort of a "goodbye for a LITTLE while" to BTS fans since jhope is about to go enlist to do his 2 YEAR mandatory military service. He'll be the 2nd member to enlist.
Cole is one on a list of very few American rappers that I actually like, he’s insane
People going to respect Cole, when its all set and done I know they dont like him right now but in due time people will realize how dope Cole is. He bene in the game 10+ years and still sound hungry. This is my first time hearing J Hope and he sounds dope.
People don’t like Cole? Point me towards them bro

Cole was j hope inspiration 😭❤️
In here he was like first THIS IS THE ONLY THING HE CAN DO SO WELL,
THEN came the stage of letting go, and then he decided to contemplate again, and he realized
NAAA, HE'S TOO HUNGRY FOR THE GAME SO MUCH SO THAT HIS HUNGER CAN'T BE TAMED, SO HE'S GONNA HAVE A BUFFET (Golden Coral) WHILE RISING TO THE TOP!!!
@@Nicole-hc7rh lol I see where they're coming from... They are just panicking because of the love and fear of losing him.

Thank you J Cole for Jhope's dream came true.

J-Hope is a J Cole fan boy. Check out how these 2 got together. U won't be sorry. ❤❤❤❤
Lol Cole got going and i was like... "Nice! God aint real though."
Thanks!
It may have slipped through your radar but J. Cole's song on the Creed 3 soundtrack definitely deserves a reaction it goes stupid hard
I feel like hip hop is so competitive, so as an artist you can get consumed by it. Every year we debate who’s the best who is better etc… so in a sense it is an evolution to not be consumed by this competitive urge.
Exactly my boy!
Yea i agree, he shoulda spit a lil more
dont worry babe... theres another song for both of them. K-media has already says it
Personally, I think his goal was to give his muse, his inspiration time to shine while he dances underground.
@@Chowrun there’s no confirmation though
Thank you for this detailed account of our Sunshine’s journey to his ultimate manifestation. ARMY is proud and standing behind our Hope. Literally!
That scene of him dancing in the subway and J.Cole verse playing at the same time is so perfect in that sense :)
Jhope is Enlisting soon in the military as per the Korean laws, it's mandatory.
One thing I’ll always appreciate about J Cole is that he’ll always produce a fire verse on a feature no matter who it’s with.
Love your reactions! Thank you so much for this! Such a blessing to have you as a reactor for us!
Yeah, you also might experience and learn new things, and if you decide to come back to it later, you can use those things in your music and enrich it
J cole man jus a smooth criminal 🔥🔥 I am glad he decided to pick up the mic and write what comes to mind like cole said he got a lot in the vault some gets played some he slept on so much work he has in storage I wish he would release it before retirement which also should be his last album name

It gave me a weird sense of hope that the music can change (or be saved from imploding upon itself)
I felt like he is getting hungry again.
What an amazing thought provoking collaboration.
j-hope has lived up to his name again and given me hope.
Because we know in order to stay where BTS is they too have to evolve. And I look forward to all of it.

J-Call and J-Hope are Avengers
What i got from j-cole was not that he might be leaving soon. but everything he said he gave it some meaning.. It's talent.
This is 🔥 This collab is insane!
Big Fax on the whole religious thing. Ain't for me, but still undoubtedly poetic and fire
I loved your reaction! You broke the lyrics so thoughtfully. J. Cole is different, man. Just on a god-tier level
Hula-Hoopin in jail is 4 syllables...aight Scru
I feel emotional looking at u get emotional over a great bowing out. Ur so right, he speaks to our souls, man. He need him. Lauren left me😢
I love this tune and it’s background story.
Great reaction! So well balanced and knowledgeable commentary!
YES!! I thought I was the only one who needed time to process Cole's first line. 😂
This song for the Army is very emotional is the hart of JHope I love he thenks for this reaction

I feel like with J Cole he isn’t saying he needs to evolve out of rapping but when he said “the moon jumps over the cow” it’s backwards. Like he is now the old head in the rap game
I will always love hip hop, you don't have to leave it. There is also clean and positive hip hop.
Remember boys and girls "It's better to burn out than to fade away" That is what Cole is alluding too and I don't blame him retiring.
OMG I have been dying laughing from your reaction!! AH HA AH HA 🧨
that was coles song. mans the goat. never misses, not once.
cole fucking world
Good stuff man. You have a great presence for this.
You’re right about leaving. Elton John is 75 and still came back.
But Cole said his hunger can’t let it go
“Cole we need you”💯
I heard him say somethin bout a drako??? 😂😂😂😂😂😂 how dope would that be. BTS rappin/singin about blickies.
First line J-cole says and its already my caption, that was fire.
It’s not cole saying goodbye, it’s Jhope, he’s enlisting to the military soon (mandatory in korea), this is his temporary goodbye song, not Cole’s, he just chanelling it
Waiting for you to do this reaction 🤟🏾🤟🏾🤟🏾🔥🔥🔥🔥👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾
songer - sunrise session (he’s got an album coming out in april)
Beautiful words internet stranger. Thank you for writing this.

14:22 facts bro🫡🍻🇯🇵
Been waiting for this reaction
Bro, Scru: Relax, he's a nice rap in a world with J. Cole 😂😂 just like Fort Miner.
