Real estate entrepreneur and philanthropist Dean Graziosi embodied the “mind over matter” practice to extraordinary levels. By taking control of and transforming his mindset he was able to stop being defined by a past of family struggles and failing businesses, and start writing the story he wanted to live. The author of Millionaire Success Habits explains why getting out of your own way is the key to success on this episode of Impact Theory with Tom Bilyeu.
    SHOW NOTES:
Dean shares how seeing his parents struggle motivated him. [2:25]
Dean and Tom discuss how to find the things you’re good at and discover your version of success. [7:37]
Dean touches on developing self-awareness to change your story. [11:01]
Dean talks about bouncing back from his business failing a 2nd time. [21:14]
Dean explains the role confidence plays in success. [25:43]
Dean breaks down some of the common myths about money. [29:57]
Dean reveals the impact he wants to have on the world. [37:32]
    QUOTES:
“if you're running away from pain and that's your driver, great, use it. Actually, feel the pain more. Don't ignore it and live a life of status quo or even a life of struggle because of that. In fact, let the pain sink in and let it be your driver and then once you get past those, then other things kick in that could be your motivator…” [3:23]
“Every time I align my values, my soul, my purpose, whatever it is you want to call it, with my businesses or my profits, they always soar without having to obsess on the numbers.” [9:25]
“What stands between us and where we want to go is never what we think it is. It's not the economy, it's not the president. It's not that somebody already dominated the health food industry or dominated Facebook advertising or dominated TV advertising or there's no room left. It's never that. It's always the story we tell ourselves and why we can't achieve that.” [11:03]
“I don't think we should drive for money. I think we should drive to be a better version of ourselves.” [30:31]

Thank you for sharing your knowledge Dean! The piece about "changing your story" may have been a career-changing one for me. I realized that I was telling myself "a story" why I couldn't leave my current position until this issue I was dealing with was done. When I realized THAT was "my story", I changed the story in my head and went on an application blitz. Yesterday I just received an employment offer for the pay I wanted, benefits I wasn't expecting and a chance to grow quickly in that company that I couldn't have imagined. All because I answered... "I could really get a job making a lot more money, which would get me in a position to start my own business sooner... IF I didn't have this issue holding me back"
This interview totally changed my image of you. Now I actually listen to some of your info-mercials...lol. I'm sure many here feel the same way. Thanks again :-)

I was 28 working in a warehouse dead end job and watched his real estate infomercial which motivated me and made me believe. 10 years later I own a successful real estate business. It has been more than 3 years that I have worked to stop telling myself negative stories and transform my limiting beliefs into greatness, and just the last month I am finally seeing the external effects. It is challenging but not impossible to hold a new story when it does not yet appear true. The truth unfolds in response to what we focus on, and what energy we focus with. Life is an amazing ride! Get some on ya! And never give up on believing yourself better.

I'm really glad you had Dean on Impact. I have seen his ads on TH-cam and thought he was another shallow salesman trying to get rich off a ponze scheme. Now I see that he is an amazing man that I should be looking up to. Whats funny is now I am going to buy his book. I've made watching an episode of Impact every day as part of my morning routine and it is changing the way I am thinking. I know I have greatness within me, but the fear of failure or making the wrong decisions often cripples me. I thought I was the only one who felt like this, but I can see it's a normal part of the process in which I have to work past. Thank you for everything you have done Tom. At first I didn't like you, but now through this platform I admire you. Thank you for giving back so generously and one day I hope to be a successful guest sitting next to you sharing my feelings with all of your hopeful fans. Take care brother.

However, it often takes time to reprogram yourself into HONESTLY BELIEVING IN OUR CAPABILITIES!!! GOD BLESS Y'ALL WE LOVE YOU TOO!!!! and whilst I REALIZE I'm not fully developed in my opinion of money matters because I am not yet, fully trusting of the other sometimes, my FATE AND FAITH SAYS.... wait" they don't love you like I love you, MAPS" BY THE Yeah yeah yeahs.... love their music so much!!! There is 1 thing about this interview I have never seen - he spoke about the conflict he had with his family (his Dad). I'm not sure If it's the pain of those stories but none of those who've 'made it' mentions those type of conflict/ struggles despite those being sometimes the #1 conflict those who want to achieve encounter. Tom and other interviewers :) -. I wish you can ask direct questions about dealing with conflicting families (of course for those who are comfortable with it) bc it would really really help those of us in these positions and it'll also make the stories more authentic.

30:22 "If you're making too much money, you're taking it from someone else". That is not a worry, Dean, that is THE TRUTH! Nobody should make too much money, because no rich person works 100 000 times harder than a poor person. They both have just 24h a day to work. So yes, if you're making too much money, you have a responsibility to impact more people's lives with them, and not just grow your own list of possessions or expensive experiences.

WOW I am so glad you interviewed Dean as I kept on seeing his ads but was unsure what to think. In your interview I now see him as very kind, down to earth, totally legit, and truly authentic. I find it also serendipitous that I was in the process of writing and transforming my limiting beliefs so this came at the right time. I am definitely going to be purchasing his book ASAP via audible.

Wow, Great interview! I needed to hear this & it made so much sense.
I could relate to so much of it, my Dad always worked himself into the ground but we were just surviving as a family. One belief instilled into me as a child that we need to work hard but that money was this bad thing that wouldnt make you happy & that we shouldnt be chasing it. Overtime I have been changing my small story thank goodness.

Skye Jones I was complete opposite from my parents. I fought their authority as a kid. Everything that was important to them became unimportant to me. Money, retirement, having a house, etc. I can still see the effects of my subconscious belief to this day. I have some money, but not very close to what I want, my retirement fund is much lower than it should be,
I don’t own a house. I never released this belief.
