You would not think you were in the same city. Downtown Detroit has changed so much you would be blown away. The progress and reimagining makes this video almost an archive of how bad it used to be. Now we really need to improve the school system so that young people will want to raise their children downtown rather than move moving out to the suburbs. Come visit Detroit, you’ll have a ball!
Had a chance to buy one about 10 years ago. It had been driven hard, the right side rattled and the clutch felt like it had done…a few burnouts. I suspect the owner had raced it because the front end was covered in poorly concealed scratches. I was pretty picky for the price he was asking for it, especially since that thing had been flogged. Dunno how much he eventually sold it for but sometimes I wonder if it would’ve been worth it to get a Voodoo 5.2L for it and have it wrapped.
4:25 a true lie. Holman-Moody Ford Falcon was the true winner of Rally Monte Carlo in 1964 after winning EVERY speed-stage. (never done by anyone else) until the jury came together late saturday night and decided to give them a "too big engine penalty" to save europes honour. Ford & Holman-Moody left this arena and focused on Le Mans were history almost repeated itself; the 7-litre Holman-Moody Ford GT40 was too fast for europe so they decided to set a max 5-litre limit to engine size. But invane, Fords masterpiece won for two more years
14 years after first seeing this segment as a kid, I just now realize I currently attend college 10 minutes away from where this was filmed! (University of Michigan Ann Arbor, see 4:18)
yes, thanks for the video. but where do you drive it fast? ship it to a country without speed limit, where the power can be set free and the gt let out of the cage. best wishes for 2025, albrecht

I will say this generation of Ford GT is in the top 10 of greatest cars over the past 50 years . This car is insanely good
Let's not get bogged down in what went wrong with Jeremy's Ford GT ...
Well, to be fair, many of the issues were with the alarm system, not the rest of the car

Old top gear will always be the real top gear!
There's no replacement for ... Clarkson. BBC should have known that
BBC is collapsing
Not just Clarkson but Hammond and May too
BBC will always destroy things they have worth keeping
Not a big fan of the re-edited music on these uploads. I guess it has something to do with music licensing.

It’s actually pretty shocking how much Detroit has changed since this segment aired.
And the Ford GT is still iconic as ever.
Hy! Did it change for the better or worse? I'm actually curious.

What a 10/10 review from Clarkson
I'm delighted to learn these days that apparently there are a ton of old Top Gear episodes I never got around to watching years ago 🙂

A clássic Ford GT moment from top gear
Jay Leno’s Garage had the designer of this on his show. Really cool to hear some of the backstory on this car
