I drove this pass a few years ago - absolutely loved it. Now they must have closed the pass just fpr yhem because it is NEVER this empty there are always super cars coming in the opposite direction which can make the hairpin corners tricky. The locals told me that if they want to donthis at speed they do it at night. In fact we encountered a couple at midnight on the Jauffenpass.
5:46 "The only thing I know about Liechtenstein is they make more false teeth than anywhere else in the world... which is probably why Hammond has brought us here!"
You’d think that for the 8 entire extra years the BBC could have made this for, they’d forgive the indiscretions, rather than just pretending to still be this and never making anything good ever again
They offered to bring Clarkson back after he was fired for punching a producer and Hammond and May had quit in solidarity with him, but the Trio refused to go back and work for them.
This was the episode that inspired all of my road trips...From Scotland to driving the Susten, Grimsel & & Furka passes in Switzerland. Thank you blokes your Top Gear episodes were the best and always will be. ❤😎👍
I was a kid when this episode first came out. Next week, I am going to Bormio on holiday. Amazing how the trio intertwined with our lives and love of cars.
Love how they stand at the top of the Stelvio and say " shall we do it? " but they would have already driven up it to get to that point in the first place 😂😂😂 all the filming proves that THE best car in the world is a Range Rover - always at the front of a chain of super cars chasing it but with enough room to have all the camera equipment AND camera man hanging out the boot filming as they go down the road 😉😃😃😃
Lol these cars costs thousands upon thousands of dollars. If driven seriously, that Range Rover wouldn't even see them in front of it. They're driving in a very controlled environment which is why they took it so slowly over the turns.
It's crazy this is how I always feel driving around finding awesome back roads!!!!! Yesss sometimes it's super frustrating but mannnn when it works out it's absolutely epic !!!!
I appreciate that they're putting old clips like this on TH-cam, but this royalty-free music robs the audience of the sense of grandeur the original possessed.
5:32 the borders on that map aren't right Edit: If you're taking suggestions, which I doubt, I hope we can properly see the 'boat vs McLaren to Oslo' race (I can't recall it being in any of the DVDs)
I’ve never watched the full episode and I’ve always wondered why james Didnt go for the 360 challenge stradalle ou the 430 scuderia , especially since james owned a f430 and later a 458 speciale
I know he makes amends in future supercar excursions. But til this day, I still don't understand what James was thinking by choosing that hardcore Aston. 😂
I'd have the Gallardo. I'm surprised James didn't go for the standard 911 GT3 (997). It's a lightweight car, it was available at the time and it would have been ideal for finding the best driving road. It would have been far more suitable for the Aston Martin V8 Vantage N24. The N24 is more suitable for the track, rather than the road.
This feature made me visit Stelvio after seeing it on tv.. nice road, man! P.S. my Audi tdi wasn't the most amazing ride but the road was. Is this still open?
@davidkato1150 you are talking as if mountain passes are made up of all straight aways, its fun to drive because of all the winding downhill and uphill roads, no one goes there to break speed records and 180 km/h is plenty to have fun, still better than U.S speed limits lol
has anyone ever put a genuine estimate to how much it cost the BBC to axe Clarkson? had to be loads in missed revenue. does the current top gear even make it's money back? never watched a single episode and never will.
12:50 Meanwhile, James driving in his Aston Half-Naked and still wont admit that his car is bad due no-AC on race cars. He should know that driving race cars in Summer is basically asking for roasted by sun and his friends too. He could picked another cars but his pride wont let him do that, Hammond and Clarkson picked the right car while James picked wrong car.
Which supercar would you like to drive on the Stelvio Pass?
I'd love to drive that Gallardo Jeremy drove.
ford streetka
A would like to drive a Bugatti
McLaren F1, it has to be
Kia Picanto
Top gear "classic" is the BBC realising yes we do indeed like the actual top gear better than whatever they did after the iconic trio left.

One of my favorite TG Videos!! Nostalgic!❤️
This episode is my favorite of all time. Especially given the vehicles chosen.
I didn’t even know I was a “car guy” when I was younger. In my 20s, this show made it apparent that I was.

Golden era
It's a pity that the original sound track couldn't be kept. Especially the Hans Zimmer track from Blackhawk down.
Why did James get that car? He can't have chosen it himself! He would never do something that stupid!
cos it’s funny
He chose it because it was light, they cut that bit out.
Comedic effect.
Because it was dictated by the screenplay?
