classic means old a cherished like an antique. Thumper got two series of TG cancelled. The series with Fred, Paddy and Monkey are great and less contrived.
5:46 "The only thing I know about Liechtenstein is they make more false teeth than anywhere else in the world... which is probably why Hammond has brought us here!"
Love how they stand at the top of the Stelvio and say " shall we do it? " but they would have already driven up it to get to that point in the first place 😂😂😂 all the filming proves that THE best car in the world is a Range Rover - always at the front of a chain of super cars chasing it but with enough room to have all the camera equipment AND camera man hanging out the boot filming as they go down the road 😉😃😃😃
I'd have the Gallardo. I'm surprised James didn't go for the standard 911 GT3 (997). It's a lightweight car, it was available at the time and it would have been ideal for finding the best driving road. It would have been far more suitable for the Aston Martin V8 Vantage N24. The N24 is more suitable for the track, rather than the road.
5:32 the borders on that map aren't right Edit: If you're taking suggestions, which I doubt, I hope we can properly see the 'boat vs McLaren to Oslo' race (I can't recall it being in any of the DVDs)
You’d think that for the 8 entire extra years the BBC could have made this for, they’d forgive the indiscretions, rather than just pretending to still be this and never making anything good ever again
They offered to bring Clarkson back after he was fired for punching a producer and Hammond and May had quit in solidarity with him, but the Trio refused to go back and work for them.
This feature made me visit Stelvio after seeing it on tv.. nice road, man! P.S. my Audi tdi wasn't the most amazing ride but the road was. Is this still open?
has anyone ever put a genuine estimate to how much it cost the BBC to axe Clarkson? had to be loads in missed revenue. does the current top gear even make it's money back? never watched a single episode and never will.
I appreciate that they're putting old clips like this on TH-cam, but this royalty-free music robs the audience of the sense of grandeur the original possessed.
12:50 Meanwhile, James driving in his Aston Half-Naked and still wont admit that his car is bad due no-AC on race cars. He should know that driving race cars in Summer is basically asking for roasted by sun and his friends too. He could picked another cars but his pride wont let him do that, Hammond and Clarkson picked the right car while James picked wrong car.
Which supercar would you like to drive on the Stelvio Pass?
I'd love to drive that Gallardo Jeremy drove.
ford streetka
A would like to drive a Bugatti
McLaren F1, it has to be
Kia Picanto
Top gear "classic" is the BBC realising yes we do indeed like the actual top gear better than whatever they did after the iconic trio left.

8:30 and 10:48 The music when they find the best road is Mystic Prelude. Glad they kept that!
Do you know what's the one around 4:20 ?
@@aze559Steamboy main title by John Powell
It's not the original soundtrack though. Original songs were Dario Marianelli - Evey Reborn at 8:30 and Antonio Pinto - Requiem at 10:48
Classic TG Thanks 4 the nostalgia
Jeremy: Trying to defend his choice of driving in Maggiore.
Richard and James: Actually mad, not having his BS.
Hammond wanted to go to Switzerland, he's in no position to moan.
@@EnforcerX71
And James wanted Austria.
im a simple man, i see old Top Gear, i click
Right. Just like the other t-thing
This was the first episode that i watched and it makes me love the show ever since
One of my favorite TG Videos!! Nostalgic!❤️
Even the name, Stelvio Pass, sounds like the gateway to a hidden realm of the Elves in Middle Earth. Truly a majestic place!

That orange Gallardo 😍🤩
We wont forget that the BBC still scrapped the historic Top Gear cars and got rid of them from the museum

My favourite Top G ear moment, amazing series 10
The best series was 10.
Oh God, super sports cars on the Stelvio, on the north ramp they're in your way at every hairpin bend...
1:13
EXTREMELY rare footage of Jeremy admitting he did something wrong, even slightly
Even when they later found the Transfagarishan Highway, this is still one of the very best roads I have ever seen.
8:48 jeremy being as british as one could be!
" we should have just come here on a f**king bus " love his rant, man went diabolical
I will never not laugh at Hammond and James cussing at Jeremy at the beginning
Best museum i've ever seen
Imagine, a team of dozens of people traveling with them having helicopters, big cameras, expensive cars... the times of their lives, that's for sure!
I didn’t even know I was a “car guy” when I was younger. In my 20s, this show made it apparent that I was.
Man that 997 GT3 RS was perfect 😍
Now thats what i call driving
Hammond: sorry
Clarkson: scusi
😮
Why did James get that car? He can't have chosen it himself! He would never do something that stupid!
cos it’s funny
He chose it because it was light, they cut that bit out.
12:51 naked James May jumpscare
Awsome episode.
Out of everyone, James chose the racecar Aston 😂
Top shelf classic
I remember a famous man driving a McLaren, Ferrari, a Porsche and an Aston Martin on this road just a few years prior....

0:55 should have come out this way on a fucking bus!
Ok Hammond convince Jeremy to do that… maybe if it’s the coach he may do it but I doubt it.
12:40 Great-Shot
Interesting how the value of those cars have such a big difference today....
Literally watching this episode
This. The dream. 🤯
It's a pity that the original sound track couldn't be kept. Especially the Hans Zimmer track from Blackhawk down.
James literal bought a GT4 car, bro brought this on himself 😅

Which one is now better? Stelvio or Transfagarasan?
James trying to start the car and cause a havoc on boat 2:28 😂
3:56 the fuel…👀
The best driving road...in the world
Airport race between Hammond vs may vs clarkson vs the stig
did that on a bicycle. But agree.

Do you guys not have the original film/files? Why is everything still in SD?
Its such a shame that this episode wasn't filmed in HD...
has anyone ever put a genuine estimate to how much it cost the BBC to axe Clarkson?

Whats up with the James driving a Vantage N24 which I believe is a non street legal race car
I wonder how much tourism increased after this aired.
This is the episode it started it for me😱😱. And one year ago a drove a lambo porsche and aston in one day😍
Eh I think somewhere in the Japanese mountainside would probably take the cake

The bits with the newly edited in music feel so off putting
wow james is not fat here
Funny but you can see now how completely contrived it all is.
Remember: Transfăgărășan îs better than Stelvio.

I know they have to change the music for those TH-cam vids, but this was bloody awful.
