    I first want to say how nice the start of the video showed your other shower. A proven fact how nice frameless doors make the shower really look awesome.
    Checking the glass is so important even for scratches. (Not often happened but better to examine the product before getting done) I had a Kohler frameless door shatter in me because I missed a really small hairline crack on the corner. One thing I'm glad that it just all landed on the floor and not damage anything. Always had tarps down along with safety glasses. Remodels always had other things around you. The rubber gloves are so important to have full control of the product too. I always found that I would tell customers also that spending the money for a better door is best in the long run. If the bottom sweep were to need replaced for an odd reason, you usually could get another. The rubber shims are better quality as well. Very important not to have metal against the glass. Doing a check list is important. One thing I've done to save the life of the diamond but is use 2" masking tape and make a reservoir type shape that would allow water to help drill the hole or even a squirt bottle with water after you get the bit started. A little bit of clean up but gives you more life of the bit.
    Great job with everything as always Josh

      Yes, I installed the same door on the showers and I love them! I used to just use typical shower curtains, but once I started using the shower doors, I will not go back. Sorry to hear you had a glass door break on you. It’s definitely a risk of messing with glass panels. The rubber gloves helped so much when it comes to gripping the door. Some people use suction cups, but I do not have any of those in sure they would work good. I love reading the tips and your comments. The community really appreciates them! Thanks a lot for commenting, David!

      @@TheExcellentLaboreryes, when that thing broke, it sounded like a gun went off. The blessing was nothing was damaged and when I reached out to Kohler,. They sent a new panel because of the type of break. Another reason I like using reputable companies.
      I tried the small 4" suction cup handle type and it actually was more difficult because when you had to move it a certain way, you had to set it down and reposition it. The one benefit is, when you have a helper and you can't be on the same side and they can use two of them to hold either panel from one side and not be in the way.
      Always enjoy your posts and love reading others as well. Always a great feeling to help others. 👍🏻

    Niece just had her bathroom remodeled and glass doors installed in the shower. She just used it for the first time, only to discover the bathroom floor filled with water. Apparently the installer failed to apply the sealing strip along the hinge side of the door, leaving a quarter inch gap between the glass and the wall.

    I had to check the date that this video was made because I've not seen that "bracket" which supports the fixed glass piece, nor have I seen those "h shaped" plastic flanges on any install in hotels, friend's homes, etc. Is this new or just a certain brand of shower door that the big box stores are carrying? It would be too tempting to put your wet wash cloth up there to dry.

      They do make them with a fixed door in a slider, but they get pricey. Normally both panels being functional is the best in most situations. (Turn the shower on and get in on the other side etc.) Really research what your need is and make sure the door will work out. They make so many styles, but make sure you can get parts if needed as well. Online ordering can show great buys, but bad service if needed Some glass companies specialize in custom doors, but then again, the price goes up. Like you mentioned about the sill being narrow. Good luck on your project and I hope this gives you a good outlook and doesn't stop you from doing it yourself. Take any measurements you can wherever you go. More is better than not enough and pictures. 👍🏻

      @BZ1340 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@davidharrison3074 Ive installed a half dozen or so shower door units. The issue on this one the curb is only 2 3/8 wide yet most doors ask for 2 3/4 The clients want a solid panel with a slide door on 1 Side not hinged. the Center guide on the curb that holds both doors will hang over the inside of the curb 1/4 inch. That makes the sliding door outside the base

    • @davidharrison3074
      @davidharrison3074 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@BZ1340 try doing some research, but if the customer is set on a frameless, try a custom location in your area, but at least let the customer know they might have to stay with a standard door due to the difference on the sill area. I know exactly what you are talking about. Sometimes, you just can't make something work and it's hard because it sounds like you really want to help them achieve the frameless look with a stationary panel. Best of luck and I don't mind keeping me posted on this project. Remember, being honest with a customer is a happy customer most of the time. And future work. 👍🏻

The pan is 42" OUTSIDE dimension and it will be almost 2" smaller opening once it is tiled won't it?? I'm praying I didn't just waste $1000 on a door i cant use!...😢
