I have a 1994 P30 chassis 7.4L with 80 gallon tank looks same as yours I dropped tank to replace old sending unit and upgrade fuel pump to higher pressure AC Delco pump for better performance. I used two rachet straps front and rear to lower my tank a notch at a time until it was sitting on the ground. Just be careful and slow and much better than an unsteady floor jack.

omg.. i just did this today... subbed because of the hard work you went through.. the hardest part of my JOB.. was the quick disconnect on the 3/8" fuel line... it took me an hour to get it off because how you have to reach across the tank... the stainless clip was damaged and it was so annoying... oreilly has the exact pump and housing with original plug .. $242 lifetime warrantly. and dont get me started on the fuel filter.. it actually didnt take long at all to drop the tank.. mine had 20 gallons of fuel in it... did you ever figure out exatly how many gallons that tank is 100%? i was amazed by the size of it.. i actually watched you video on the CSFI upgrade.. i love your shop...

It was in fact, an 80 gallon tank. I have gotten some negative feedback from not video'ing the thing. But anyone who has done this can tell you, that you are NOT getting a camera, or much of your arms in there LOL!!
It is funny that these 8.1L engines are so sensitive to just a 10 PSI drop in fuel pressure on the open road.
I have also done his ignition switch accessory circuit bypass modification.
I recently did his a/c system as well. He had said that it didn't work very well since he owned it. So after topping off his freon, I noticed that his "max air" function wasn't shutting the blend door to the outside of the coach. His vacuum line had dry rotted and was leaking. Vacuum line is backordered everywhere right now, especially the plastic kind. So I took a small cut piece of of 2x4 and wedged it shut from inside the coach to keep it shut from the outside air. His compressor was also overheating in the recent 110* index air. So I insulated his suction line from the evap, back to the compressor. He also had a tranny cooler fan bad, and a battery isolator solenoid fuse bad. I really hate that I didn't video any of it, but I was on a tight schedule.
He said the a/c hasn't worked that well in the 10 years he has owned it.

Thanks for the video, I have a 2003 p32 8.1 and the fuel gauge only works at times. But when I drop the tank I will replace the module.

I went back with the OE pump. I haven't had very good luck with the aftermarket ones in general. I would have stuck a Holley in it, if I could have gotten away with it LOL!

Do you know if it's an 80 gallon tank? Walbro fuel pumps show just about all of them. The problem I have found, is that the coach models are listed as 2000+ year models but the chassis themselves are older than that. That is the primary reason it is so hard to track them down. Most are listed as 98-99 year model chassis. I would have to look around really well.

You can if you can figure out a way to plumb it. There are some guys that have done it that way. It is however, a pain either way to do on the side of the interstate, or on the side of a mountain. You need the pump that matches your fuel tank capacity. There was a 12" tall assembly for the 35-55 gallon tank. Or the 15" tall pump assembly for the 60-80 gallon tanks. FG0064 is the genuine Delphi unit for the Workhorse chassis with a 80 gallon tank. Oemy's web site is a great resource.
