    This is a great video. My fuel pump plastic connector broke. Replace or die. Located pump location. was under bed. Cut hole to pump and removed in campground, replaced and on my way.

      Nice that you did not have to drop the fuel tank.

      @@ktoutdoor You bet. It was going to cost $1,700 at the Knoxville TN Chevy truck dealer to replace. Plus tow bill and I dont think a tow truck could have gotten me out of the tight spot I was parked in. Federal campground Elkmont in the Smokies. Keep up the good video. I need to replace my brake pads on my drive shaft parking brake . I got lucky mine is a manual but no videos . May try my hand at doing one.
      Take care. Kevin

      I was going to ask the same question. I did this on my e150 van, cut a hole in the floor and replaced the fuel pump. Byron, how did you know where the fuel pump was on the top of the tank? When I did the e150 I measured wrong and had to make the hole bigger than I wanted🤣

    In the video Kevin states that the fuel pump, E16020, puts out 100 psi. On O'Reilly's site in shows as 43 psi at 21 gph. This is considerably less than what my in-tank fuel pump puts out.

    • @ktoutdoor
      @ktoutdoor  ปีที่แล้ว

      Some web sites state that 43 psi is minimum. In the video I was getting at least 55 psi . Spec is 55 to 61 . Of course this not ment to be a long term solution. Just until you can get a oem pump installed.

  • @williamatchison6261

    I put an inline pump on a friends pace arrow for about $50. Saved big $$$

    • @ktoutdoor
      @ktoutdoor  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      That's good to hear but I would be concerned about using this as a permanent solution if your friend cant afford the OEM pump that's in the tank then at least have him buy another inline pump to carry with him just in case he needs it.
      The inline pumps can run hot unlike the factory pump that is submerged in gasoline.

    Kevin, Awesome workaround. Aug. 2015 my 05 Seabreeze w22 developed a crack in the 3rd nipple on top of the fuel pump, the MH ran ok but the leak was nerve racking. The cost to fix was about $1200 @ Roy Robinson Chevrolet/RV (Marysville, Wa Exit 199 off I-5). They are Workhorse garage, their schedule was slammed but they took me in gave me pwr & h2o till the pump came in from Reno, they appreciated my nearly empty fuel tank.
    Thanks for the video!
    On a separate note recently my 04 cummins fuel pump quit and the dealers only authorized fix was to "improve" my truck to 2016 standards and install an intank pump @ $1500. I laughed and had the truck towed home (a short distance) spent $125 and removed and replaced the external fuel pump on the filter canister in about an hour.

      Thanks for watching my tank hold 80 gallons, can u imagine having to pump out that much fuel in order to replace fuel pump. glad u got back on the road. Do u remember did they go back with a OEM / workhorse fuel pump ? $500.00 ?

      W0013952 fuel pump $561 , freight was $111, 3 day expedited over a weekend, labor was $525, $10 in misc hose & clamps +tax - 10% discount. My tank is 75 gal, had to use a mirror & flashlight to find the leak. Didn't think I could make the 120mi drive thru Seattle to Brazel's RV Centralia, Wa, my first choice for repairs in the PNW.

    You can add both pumps sir, run a separate circuit to the external pump with switch, and add to the outter gas lines check valves, so when you main pump fails, just switch on the other one and continue, and because you have check valves on it you can even run the two pumps if you like it.

    Kevin, I really like your posts. I learn a lot. I also have a 2005 Southwind with the Vortec 8.1 on the W24 and have had problems with vapor lock like you describe(climbing at altitude plus a 90degree day). Could you post a video that describes just your fix? It is buried inside this video at the 20min to the 25min mark. Others may gain from your solution on the vapor lock. Would like to have the info on the Autozone reflective material too. Keep it up, much appreciated!

    Hi Kevin and thanks for your videos and Help.
    So did you use this as a temp solution or is this to completely bypass the stock Pump? We come the the conclusion that my tank since the coach sat for a few years in a RV park with the pervious owner. That the tank might have resin and sludge in it that's causing the fuel pump to fail? We haven't dropped the tank yet, but were going to and have it cleaned and hoping this will fix the issue?

    • @ktoutdoor
      @ktoutdoor  ปีที่แล้ว

      I made this as only a temporary solution encase my fuel pump failed while on the road. I made a video last year on how to lower fuel tank and replace fuel pump.

    Hi there, if you have a minute. I have a question for you regarding this fuel pump bypass kit. I am working on putting this together for a 2003 PA on a W22. I got underneath it, and my fuel filter configuration is different from yours. Could you offer me some advice on how my fuel filter should be hooked up to the bypass kit. I want to be sure I'm attaching everything to flow correctly. I searched all over the internet looking for schematics for fuel lines and had no luck.I can send pictures of my fuel filter if it would help. 🙂

    • @ktoutdoor
      @ktoutdoor  3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Send pictures if you like to my cell 606-875-0125 . But the fuel should leave the tank then flow through the fuel filter, go to the engine then return to the fuel tank. I would make my connection at the fuel tank side of the fuel filter. + pull the fuel pump relay for safety. Then check for fuel pressure at the rail you need at least 50 psi spec is 55 to 61 prox. Call or text me if you like kevin

    • @ktoutdoor

      Yes that would work also as long as you don't go below 1/4 of a tank of fuel . The onan fuel pickup tube does not go to the bottom of the tank.

    • @ktoutdoor

      The problem with that is you wont pickup any fuel if your near 1/4 of fuel in tank. What about where the fuel enters the tank is there a rubber hose that you could disconnect to get Access to the fuel?

    Kevin, what would your fuel pressure gauge have read during a vapor lock event? (assuming you did not have the gauge installed on the Grand Canyon trip.) Also I wonder if that "device/flap" in the neck of the alternate fill opening was an attempt to provide some sort of anti siphon protection to keep someone from stealing the gas. Might exist on both inlets.

    • @ktoutdoor
      @ktoutdoor  ปีที่แล้ว

      Correct I did not have the dash mounted fuel pressure gauge installed then but I assume it would have showed the lower pressure seeing how the engine would not run much above idle. Yes the flaps are on both sides and I believe they are designed to keep the fuel in the tank in case of a roll over accident and the filler pipe got torn from the fuel tank.
