Ektomorf performs "We Rise" live on EMGtv

- Check out Ektomorf as they play their blend of thrash, hardcore, and traditional Gypsy music on this performance of "We Rise". Ektomorf serves it up on the EMGtv stage, showing off the band’s aggressive music and lyrical content. Hungarian Lead singer, Zoltán Farkas, is using the EMG 81-8X and EMG 85-8X to keep an aggressive low end on his eight string guitar. Tamás Schrottner rounds out the guitar tones with the EMG 808X. Keeping it all together is Szabi Murvai on bass using the EMG 35DC bass pickups.

All of the haters piss me off. Stop calling them Cavalera ripoffs. Is it not ok to be inspired or to have a similar sound? Cavalera's groovy riffs and tribal sounds are epic. Ektomorf is great. I'm a huge Max Cavalera fan, actually had the honor to meet him the other night. Even as a huge fan, i approve of Ektomorf's sound. Stop hating.

yeah, I know right. Alot of groups are inspired by other groups. Case in point "Repulsion" and "Cretin". They are both different bands BUT "Cretin" was inspired by "Repulsion", Both are awesome. I have my own band called "Dark Famine", inspired by "Archgoat" and "Incantation".

You're totally true. I mean, their songs (especially their lyrics) sound indeed "simple", but that's acutally a point why I like them a lot. Nothing spectacular, but just very entertaining.

Idk about you guys but if i was a few beers in and this band started playing at a small club id start throwing down.
You all know that Ektomorf was formed in 93 and Soulfly in 97 right???
So? Sepultura was long before that. And Soulfly is basically Sepultura since Max sings and wrote all the riffs
Fuck it, i like them haha, quite a good variety from other bands/live playthroughs
I used to love Max Cavalera, but unless Ektomorf, he's drifted way off the style I'd call "inspired". Especially his live performance is anything but inspiring. Ektomorf might have initially been heavily influenced by Soulfly and Max, but they've found their own style and they've been at it for 25 years. Anyone calling this a "Soulfly rip-off" just likes to hate.
Damn, I like their energy and it seems they learned a second note since OUTCAST!
Ektomorf are a great fun band to go see had great time at their show, Good Friday here in Phoenix Arizona.Cool guys who helped support local metal music.Buttonface drummer.

The thing is, EMG is trying to showcase variety, but then invites some of the least eligible candidates anyway. They also double as a gateway for more obscure artists, which is a beneficial side-effect and they're actually good at that.

You get variety from range, too, which is part of the reason yvette and nili were so much more popular and effective in showcasing pickups. There's no need to have powerchords repeated ad nauseam to get the point across.
My initial case is this: most emgtv viewers don't give a shit about pick-ups, they want to see awesome musicians, preferably ones they never heard about.

I view the comment section as a tank for a viewer's thoughts on the video. I don't take off my pants and run after everyone giving a negative review because "hurf durf why don't you just leave if you didn't like it". Similarly, I view stale positive reviews as no more or less useful. I view them as support. In terms of a foothold for discussion, you'd have to either flesh it out or put a negative spin on it anyway.
Personally, I think ektomorf was a swing and a miss, and that's that. There's nothing to discuss.

+victor lanyon Sure, it's not the most original music, and yeah, it's primitive as fuck, but i thnk that's no reason to dislike them. For example there is a lot of deathcore bands, using the same cliches, breakdowns, and binary code tabs, and nobody gives a fuck. A lot of bands today using 7 & 8 string guitars, mostly playing zeros on the lowest string, but nobody mentions it. This is a music from the past, it's not a new band, but anyway, this ammount is dislikes is quite funny, or just bullshit.
Because people don`t know that music don`t need to be technical as fuck to be awesome, this is pretty fucking amazing and is simple, I love the vibes they put in this, i hate the metal of nowadays, i prefer tons of times this old style like sepultura, music with a lot of soul
One of the biggest flaws in Metal today is it has lost it's roots, no pun intended. These guy have it. Max Cavalera found it and these guys are a result. These guys will move 100,000 people with simple, but crushing rhythms. Don't see many technical bands doing near as much. Who can groove to 300bpm? We will never have another Sepultura, Slayer or Metallica if people think technical is the way. Simple and heavy has always worked.

I think the highly set microphone allows the singer to open the throat up even more, therefore allowing to create even deeper sounds. But, that's just my assumption.
