Ektomorf performs "You Can't Control Me" live on EMGtv

- The band leaves it all out on the EMGtv stage with this performance of "You Can't Control Me". Once again, Ektomorf shows off their aggressive music and lyrical content with lead singer, Zoltán Farkas, using his EMG 81-8X and EMG 85-8X to keep a tight low end on his eight string guitar. Tamás Schrottner rounds out the guitar tones with the EMG 808X. Keeping it all together is Szabi Murvai on the bass using the EMG 35DC bass pickups.

The hate these guys are getting on this channel is just ridiculous. Not every band needs to be overly technical, this is just some good mosh music in the vein of old Sepultura or Soulfly.
"Old" Sepultura has nothing to do with the crappy Soulfly. #justsaying

Exactly my thought. Not everyone sets out to do complicated stuff ... and it doesn't have to be overly complicated to be good. I dig the groove in Ektomorf, and the vocals here are especially good and fit perfectly to the music.

You know something I noticed? They were having fun. Nu metal isn't about being tight or technical. It's just raw. That's what I got here. Sure, their aesthetic is hilariously early 2000's, but hey, what's it to ya? Let people be themselves. If they played crazy, technical music, they wouldn't be able to jump around or play with energy. I would love to see one guy spinning around while sweeping b5#13 arpeggios or riffing Persian scales. Sometimes it's fun taking things easy and being immature. Lighten up.

Because they are blatantly ripping off Sepultura/Soulfly and trying to make money off of it. Its called plagiarism. plagairism. However you spell it. Riding the coat tails of someone elses success is as low as it gets. Thats why.
+brian patrick or yano they came out 2 years before sepultura had this kinda groove metal sound... sepultura started as a death metal band, copying idea from bands such as Death, then after hearing metallica & exodus oh what did they do copied them and turned trash, Xtomorf started in 1994 as a groove metal band like they sound here and sepultura didnt get this sound until 1996 so whos copying who? seem sepultura might have copied these guys.

wow u guys are sad in the comment section. iv listen on and of to ektomorf for almost 10 years and they are cool and diffrent form any other band i know. yes they are ispired by sepulturas 1996 album roots and soulflys early work. but they dont sound the same. sure a song and an album can sound similar. but ektomorf have stuck to the brutal groovy sound that was first heard by sepultura/soulfly. but they are diffrent today. and ektomorf got their breakthrough around 2006. since then soulfly/sepultura and ektmorf have gone totally diffrent paths. so stop crying about plagiarism and enjoy this ultra groovy metal that no better band than ektomorf can bring today

It's kind of sad the amount of shit these guys are getting, give them a break! It's hard to hear these guys with shitty speakers, but they did a great job performing nevertheless. With decent headphones, monitors, or car speakers, these guys bring the sound. It's what they like to do! Don't get me wrong. Opinions are opinions, I respect every opinion on here. But there is a difference between giving an opinion and just being bashing, then being passive aggressive when someone calls them out...it's music guys...not a dick swinging contest.
I will never understand why bands that play really simplistic downtuned stuff like Ektomorf get 8 strings instead of just using baritone 6 strings... They will handle the tuning just as well without all the extra strings they dont use, I play in the same tuning as they are here and I use a 6 string that quite frankly seems to be handling the tuning bette than the ESP's they're using here.

I think that a lot of people misunderstand these videos. As a company that makes guitar pickups they are trying to show you that you can play any type of music with their pickups. For the record, I'm not an Ektomorf fan. I just think it's stupid to whine about someone having a different playing style.

If Robb Flynn had an accent and fronted a Soulfly tribute band that stuck even more to the first 5 frets than Soulfly does, this is what you'd end up with.

This is like hatebreed goes 8-string. And fails at it. Positive things are the drummer and the energetic performance. My honest opinion.
