Tiger 800 to 900 Gt Pro - Sue's Story Part 3

  • Just a short video documenting Sue's progression as a motorcyclist. After 2 + yrs and 8,000 miles on the wonderful Triumph Tiger 800 Sue has finally made the change and upgraded to the new 900 GT Pro! Prompted mainly by the reported lower centre of gravity of the new bike. After her first test ride it proved to definitely feel different in terms of handling and Sue certainly felt more comfortable with the overall performance. The added bonuses of heated pillion seats, larger TFT screen and slick quickshifter just confirmed the choice! BUT, most importantly, it was RED! Follow us as she takes it for a spin and practices her slow riding, U turns and figures of eight and even takes my Triple Black for a short burst as I try out "Red"! We hope you enjoy this short video and please give us a THUMBS UP if you do and remember to subscribe and hit the notification bell! Thanks for watching!

    When you've been riding a bike for a number of years and are totally used to it. Then get on a new bike and almost instantly feel more comfortable. That's a rare thing. If it happens to you get it if u can. That's your bike. Happened to me and I still love my Diavel 5 years later.

      You are so right. Took me months to get used to the 800 that I had. First ride on the 900 I was doing low speed u turns with ease. I felt MORE comfortable than I did on my own bike! I came back to the dealer and said - I have to ride this home. I also got a 900 GT Pro, but mine is white. Fantastic bike.
      Wow, your guy went through the bike with you... That’s nice. I’ve had mine two weeks now and still can’t get the navigation to work at all.

    Nice vid. I know you'll enjoy it for a long time to come.
    I got a red GT Pro at Christmas time and have about 12,000 kms on it in four months. It's been a great touring bike and much sportier than people imagine. My first upgrade was the windshield. The first time I rode in the rain I found out my leather jacket had mesh under the armpits. The windshield was the perfect width to channel the rain straight into the mesh so i had to ride home with water running down my ribs. It's now got a Givi touring shield.
    I put the rounded luggage on mine. I got the saddlebags (right side is smaller than left because of exhaust) and the large top box. The rounded luggage uses the same mount for everything so it means I have the choice of three different size topboxes for when I don't need so much capacity.

    • @midlifemotorcyclediaries
      @midlifemotorcyclediaries  3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Thanks very much Kim! I’m loving it at the moment 😀 we can’t wait to get back on the road again and do some more trips. Because Bri’s GSA has plenty of luggage it means I can get away with just my top box. Had no issues with the screen up to now but haven’t ridden in any bad weather yet! Thanks for watching and commenting! 😀👍

    I have just discovered your channel whilst researching the Triumph Tiger 900 GT Pro and felt I should start with Sue's journey. What a joy to watch both highs and lows along the journey. Congratulations on passing your tests and acquiring the Tiger 900. I currently own a 2022 Triumph Speed Twin 1200, red of course, which I purchased before being introduced to lengthy foreign tours. It was then that I discovered the difficulty of chain maintenance without a centre stand, an option not available for the Speed Twin and you can't carry a paddock stand with you. That is one of the reasons together with a lack of cruise control and decent luggage capacity, that I am looking to change to the Triumph Tiger 900 GT Pro. Thanks to folk like yourselves and other You Tube reviewers I have already fallen in love with the bike without yet having arranged a test ride. Thank you

      Hi David, thank you for your lovely note and for watching our videos. I didn’t have a centre stand on my first bike - BMW 700 - and maintaining the chain without the paddock stand would have presented a challenge. While I’ve been lucky with all my bikes, the 900 is definitely the best for me and I’m sure you’ll love it once you take that test ride. Make sure you continue the red theme 😉😄Wishing you many miles of 🐯smiles. Sue 👍

    The parking up and slow speed riding are the fundamentals of motorcycling and are often overlooked after the passing of the test. Such a good idea to practice and particularly feature it on your channel.
    I had quite a long break at one time and I’m not ashamed to say that I confused myself, when I came back, by not knowing which foot to use when stopping at the traffic lights !

    • @guyr7351
      @guyr7351 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Andrew, my thoughts exactly. Sue was so good to see you taking the time to practice the slow speed stuff, most riders who have dropped a new bike do so at slow speeds as once moving at normal speeds the weight is “lost”. Those basic skills drilled in when doing basic training are essential. Many years ago I did exactly the same on my R65 Bmw helped with a low COG but the ability to ride slowly, smoothly and confidently should never be overlooked

    Hi Sue,
    You really do capture what anyone can go for at any time of life 😀.... My wife is a great pillion with great poise and ballance as she used to be a horse rider. Keep hinting at her to do her IBT Training 🤔🙄😊. Maybe she'll allways be a pillion, that's fine with me. Yourself and your partner have a great life with a shared passion. The very best of luck to you both 👍👍👍😀

      Thank you for your kind comments. It really is lovely to share biking with your partner - pillion or rider. I traded 4 legs for 2 wheels when I met Bri. I think having ridden horses really did help when I did my bike training. If you haven’t already, maybe watch our Pillion to Rider video. It might tempt your wife to learn 😉👍 Whatever she decides, ride safe and have miles of smiles 😄🏍🏍

    I passed my test for a bike in 1983 and rode from then off and on until about 2003. It has been amazing to me to see that what you say about practice really resonates with me. With about 20 years away from a bike, I have lost that sensitivity to slow speed riding. You can kid yourself that you "Still have it" but if you are honest, you need to practice something you thought you still had, on every ride. I am so pleased to have found your channel as it has "Grown ups" and really has some interesting video of your experiences. Your channel is a good example of what we need more of. It's all very well having a "Bike review" to watch, but sometimes I think we need more "Rider reviews" with all their pros and cons. Please keep making the videos, I for one will keep watching!

    • @midlifemotorcyclediaries
      @midlifemotorcyclediaries  3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      It’s really interesting to read your comments about practicing, Greg. I think it’s really easy to forget to practice - particularly the slower riding - once you’ve passed your test and I’m sure there are lots of people who rarely do a u turn after they qualify. If I’m honest, I never felt like going off to a car park or our lay-by to practice but I’m always glad I did. It’s completely normal for your skills to get a bit rusty- particularly if you haven’t ridden for a while - but you’ll soon get that sensitivity back. I really think you never stop learning Greg and you’re very wise to recognise the need to keep practicing. Hang on in there and enjoy miles of smiles. Thanks for watching our channel! Sue 😀👍🏍
