    The car is attractive. Should be a good seller. A good start to winning customers back after diesel gate scandal.

    Great video. Can you do another trip when you have 2.4 please? I would love to see how the in car sat nav works now. Is it becoming more like ABRP? I'm still waiting for my ID3!!

      2.4 does not change that. 3.0 has a trip planner. But not like abrp

    Any issues with the keyfob? I had a quick fault once; unlocked the car, but could not start the car; got the message to “please place the key in the relevant place” or something like that. Just took it out of my pocket and placed it in the center console (useless move, but it worked). I thought it is just a small glitch. Then in one evening I could not lock/unlock the car with the key (i have the base 1st without keyless entry). I opened manually with the metal emergency key, but could not start the car. I got a taxi home, got the other key and it worked. The second day both keys worked. Called vw, seems to be a software error they are working on to fix. Others have it as well, apparently. I was wondering if you had this issue, being that you drove yours a lot.

    Hi Chris!! How is the white steering wheel holding up?? Is it getting dirt easily?? (Easy to clean up??)

      @@BatteryLife Chris, maybe making a video about how to clean the white steering wheel and the name of that special wet wipe you use to clean yours would be helpful. Maybe you can reach out to the company producing these wipes for sponsorship - steady income. :)

    Does Better Route Planner run in the ID.3? Or, is the VW navigation software doing the route planning?

      @@BatteryLife Chris, that is good to hear. If they can get as much real-time accurate info about charging stations into their navigation software, and make it straightforward to use, then that will help sell cars.

      So Chris , on a long trip you have the choice of 250-300km but long charging stops of 45-60 minutes or ; more frequent but shorter stops of 20-30 minutes every 100km. Which do you think is better ? Rex.

    • @NeilBlanchard
      @NeilBlanchard 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@uberrex8425 If you have enough charging stations, then running between 10% and 70-80% is most time efficient, I think.
      As you gain experience with this, you can fine tune how much you charge, to get to the next intended charging station. The biggest thing, is to have enough reserve for any likely contingencies. As the real-time status of charging stations is better integrated into the navigation software, we can do this more easily.

    • @CaroAbebe
      @CaroAbebe 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@uberrex8425 I suppose it also depends on your (physical) needs. When I eat, I want to enjoy my meal and not wolf my food down. In that case a longer charging break would be a natural side effect of taking the time I want ;-)
      By the way, on A Better Routeplanner you get to decide to take longer charging stops. The app then recalculates the rest of your stops accordingly.

    Thank you for sharing your trips.
    I must say that the efficiency of the ID.3 isn’t good. As you can see at 10:59 it consumed 22,4 kWh/100 km for an average speed of 89 km/h.
    Anything above 20 kWh/100 km isn’t good.
    Other brands like KIA, HYUNDAI and Tesla have much more efficient vehicles. I remember seeing consumption numbers below 18 kWh/100 km
    I’m disappointed with VW. They had years of experience with the e-Golf and e-Tron to figure this out.

    • @BatteryLife
      @BatteryLife  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      The Id3 is not the most efficient car. But my use and this trip are not good examples.
      Heat on 25 degrees, Autobahn, 130 kmh, sometimes top speed.

    • @abraxastulammo9940
      @abraxastulammo9940 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      You jump to conclusions prematurely... Note that VW does not stop the time when the car powered on when standing, so average speed goes down more and more.
      Here is an effort to drive very efficiently:

      Never look at average speed and thing that is the constant speed. You could be sat in traffic jam for an hour then go 160 km/h. I have driven ID3 and it is waaaaay more efficient than my current EV.

    Die ganze Zeit, wenn ich mir mal solche Videos anschaue, was zum Geier ist der Spaß daran, diese bescheuerten Pausen zu machen, zum Laden, zu warten, uns so viel Zeit zu verlieren. Dazu muss man den Komfort absenken, was Geschwindigkeit und Heizung angeht.
    Wieso kauft man sich so ein unausgereiftes Auto?
    Und gibt es innerlich zu, es ist unausgereift, auch wenn Ihr damit irgendwie hervorstechen wollt. Ich würde für die Umwelt sofort so ne Karre kaufen, aber wenn ich es mit meinem Auto vergleiche, wozu soll ich mir das Antun wenn unsere Chefs da oben weiter 7er und A8 fahren. Dann tue ich das auch.
    Wieso tut ihr euch das an? Oder ist es nur Publicity?

      E-Auto fahren macht einfach Spaß, mir jedenfalls. In vielerlei Hinsicht sind EVs die besseren Autos. Weiter meinen Diesel fahren? Keine Option für mich. Ladestopps? Nun, LKW-Fahrer MÜSSEN Pausen machen. Ich mache gerne Pausen, mir tun sie gut, ich komme dann viel entspannter an.

      Na klar macht es Spass, wenn man den Tycan fährt. Spass is ja ok, aber täglich, für die Arbeit? Aua.
      Und die Antworten sind wieder ein drumherum Geräde, der Komfort ist nicht da.
      Aber nun es hat keinen Sinn dagegen zu reden. Es ist zu spät.

      Wenn man mit der Reichweite auskommt und zuhause laden kann, ist ein Elektroauto erste Wahl.
      Fährt man öfters längere Strecke und kann nicht zuhause laden, würde ich weiterhin zum Verbrenner greifen.
