Those coils actually are threads that not only have electromagnetic detection integrated, but they also sense the slight changes in pressure so they are actually what sends the info to the board regarding pressure applied to the pen. Used many Wacom pens. Same tech
My dad actually cut the side of his thumb off after he slipped cutting a carpet using a stanley knife/blade for a house he was working on. Here's a photo, be warned lmfao - gyazo.com/ecca8d6ccc680902d3f997559c2ca0af
A few weeks ago I was bored during physics class so I took my small victorinox keychain multitool and I started to cut a pencil and then i slipped with a lot of force and it got very deep into my left index finger (of course I took it out right away) and it started to bleed alot, there was blood on the wall, on my jeans, on my table and on the floor and I was in panic from the inside but I put my bloody hand up just like nothing was going on and the teacher asked "what happened" and I replied "I cut myself" and he was in panic and he told me to go to the bathroom and that's what I did. while I was was walking to the classroom door everyone started to yell. when I was out of the classroom walking to the bathroom I left a trail of blood drops. When i got in the bathroom I spoiled it with water till it didn't bleed that much anymore and then I tied some toilet paper to it so it wouldn't get infected and I went back to the class, some classmates helped me and the teacher asked me how it happened so I told him "I was playing with my keys" but he saw that knive so he said that I should better not take that anywhere with me and let it home. I was so happy that there was only 1 hour left till school was over and I can go home because I didn't feel comfortable at school. when I was home I hid it from my parents because they would panic. So a few weeks passed and I still can't feel anything with 1/4 of my left index finger so I damaged a nerve. A few days ago my physics teacher asked me "you aren't playing with knives anymore are you?" so I said "no". There is still blood on that knife BTW.
Did not know it is completely powered inductively. Very interesting! Any idea how much power that consumes? Can you turn it off, so the pen stops checking for a pen? How many coils are needed for the pen to be useful on the whole screen?
I know this is ancient, and you may never see this comment, but if you do, I'd love to see a teardown/disassembly of the S Pen Pro. Haven't been able to find one online, and I'm curious about how easy it might be to take it apart and put it in a different body/case.
Hey another recent viewer!! I just watched this vid cuz i was curious about the pen and my tablet s7 came with the newer version of the pen. Dont know if its the pro though. Would love to see the newer pens taken apart
great! i was wondering what does an original pen has inside since i have seen tutorials on how to make a normal pen work as stylus (metalic case + cotton for the tip, water). nice learning video you made thanks
I really love my Blue Coral Note 7. I ordered it on the 2nd of Aug. got it delivered on the 16th. The Note 7 isn't the only product I have and love by Samsung, I also have a 4K SUHD Curved Smart TV, shows vividly awesome bright true colors while showing the blackest of blacks. It's is if the display pops right out at me. Also have a Samsung surround sound system hooked to my TV. Dishwasher, washer and dryer and fridge french door style.
that's really cool you took the Spen apart I was hoping you would do that but I just never suggested it. Awesome video very educational, I would have never thought there was a circuit board inside there. I wonder how much the boards differ from the other Spens
The silver, (as you say) 'clicky part' broke off the S pen for my Note 10+ but the pen still works. I have ordered another one and it's on its way, but in the meantime I came looking on TH-cam to see if this had happened to anyone else and maybe there was a video about gluing it back on. (Obviously, I'm quite aware that if I don't glue it back on JUST RIGHT, there will be no more clicking.) Anyway, I had to leave a comment for the simple fact that I enjoyed your video tremendously! Your simple, matter-of-fact statements (like "...there are no entry points but the usual breaking-things-in-half approach seemed to work just fine.") took me by surprise and had me in stitches. Thank you! You brought a ray of light to what, so far, had been a crummy day.😂 ❤
Had a hard day at work? Take a sip of beer every time you hear the word "tip." ... Interesting video though. I was absent mindedly bending my s-pen the other day and wondering that it wouldn't take much to snap it in half.
35 Note 7s explode or catch fire and everyone is saying that all Note 7s are mini bombs. Theses must be the same 10,000 people who had the iPhone 6 plus bend and are jealous of the much better phone
Too bad antennagate was bullshit. I used an iphone 4, never had a problem. The iPhone 6 bend if you bend it, if you sit on it with a big fat ass, it doesn't just do it randomly, and it isn't dangerous for you.
+JerryRigEverything Zack, what happened to Gorilla Glass 5 follow up of the Note 7? Your scratch test went viral, Corning openly criticized you via Android Authority, you said you are 'more than willing to make another video', and then nothing! Were you 'silenced' by Corning/Samsung or what????
True! It seemed that it was the perfect opportunity for Zack to promote his great channel but missed the boat. Kinda remind me of UnboxTherapy follow up videos of the bending Iphone test, difference is Lew capitalized on the 'viral' side of the thing, unlike zack.
wow, I have seen some of your videos and I am amazed. how did you get so knowledge. it can't just be taking parts apart and putting them back on. there some gooooood schooling going on here

Im pretty sure its just a detonator

not clever.
dude I never ever thought that a video about the S Pen would be so cool you have a special way of making videos definitely a talent awesome job
I like the way you dissect the Gadgets, waiting for the iPhone 7 & 7 Plus.
The usual breaking things in half seems to work just fine 😂
Works every time 😁
i was accidentally snapped half and it still work
Thanks, always wondered about the power source for the S pen. You cleared that up well.
I think the pen is a very impressive piece of technology. I wonder if any companies will try and mimic it.
samsung has it patented :)
You mean the detonator?
A bunch of crappy Chinese companies are already trying to mimic the pen.
Hell, even some of their phablets are named the "Note".
Did not know it is completely powered inductively. Very interesting! Any idea how much power that consumes? Can you turn it off, so the pen stops checking for a pen? How many coils are needed for the pen to be useful on the whole screen?

For a $900 phone, I was expecting an all-metal-build S-pen to prevent it from snapping. Still a great phone and video though Zack! Keep it going :)
An all metal build would be impossible.
the metal would interfere with the induction and render the pen useless.
Think before you post.
You forgot that a metalhousing would interfere with the electric field from the copperspool, so the S Pen wouldn't have 100% functionality anymore.
use your fucking brain
You just got served man

I know the iPhone 7 in jetblack is expensive, but you should make a durability test to that color, that glossy finish shoud be easily scratchable imo.
