Yeah I couldn't believe how bad they were but hey, rubber body mounts after 43 years aren't probably going to look great. Got some nice new energy suspension body mounts to put in when the time comes (which is approaching quickly). My Jeep body mounts were in similar shape!! JD
I'm a bit shocked on the low quality welds GM produced on certain areas of the sub-frame. They obviously lasted 40 plus years so that says something. Great job on the clean up!
Cleaning up nice, spray some rust convert and those parts will look even better.... I'm not sure if those were manufacturer welds, did someone have to do some work on that frame?
Damn bro glad you are replacing the body mounts!

Hey Jay, yeah I was shocked as well but to your point, they have held up well so they are doing their job. JD
Jake is on watch protecting the family from squirrels.
Haha yeah good old Jake is always on watch!! JD
Why didn't you use a wire brush and drill to clean the frame..? And control arms.? Just a question, I'm not being critical..
I did use a wire brush after I pressure washed the frame to remove the grease. It's later in the video so you may have missed it. JD

No Frame work as far as I can tell or know. Maybe it was a Friday afternoon weld job!! Rust converter and paint is next. JD
About how much do you think that subframe would weigh?
No idea. Easy two man lift so maybe a couple hundred pounds. JD
I use Super Clean for parts cleaning... so much easier.
I'll try that, cleaning old frames, parts, etc. is always a pain so anything to make it easier! JD
@@JDOffline yeah the stuff works surprisingly well. At full strength it even removes carbon off a piston.
👍👌🇵🇷
Thank you Jose! JD
