Replace the carb bowl with the one off your adjustable carb. It'll give
you the dump valve you desire. Be sure to put the solid bowl nut back in not the adjustable one. Tom

Enjoyed your video. In the past several years I have bought 4 used snowblowers that have needed some TLC. The 3rd one was a craps man 8.5/26. Besides the auger problem, I had a issue with the carb having the evaporated gas residue. Took it apart and found that the float needle was sticking in the nylon seal seat. Unfortunately with my deep cleaning, I compromised the seat and I bought the Amazon Hooli carb which costs less than the rebuid kit as well as the tools required to replace the parts/seals. Now I'm working on #4, a Craftsman 9/28 and have I fixed the siezed auger blades on the shaft and installed bailer belt on the impeller blades that is corded material and cost only $7 for a 7" x 12" piece. Now moving on to my craftsman 9/28, 12" impeller that I will clean the carb and possibly R&R it with the Amazon carb if necessary if I can't get it cleaned up. I also make blower skid plate modifications on my blowers by replacing them with roller blade wheels that you can buy for cheap at garage sales. No skid plate adjustments or scraper blade replacement/adjustment, required!

One really good thing about the adjustable carburetors is that elevation changes do affect your engine and if that happens all you have to do is adjust it.

I have a Troy-Bilt Horse rear tine tiller that was purchased the day I was born by my late grandfather. Ants destroyed the fuel system. Just had to scrap an old snowblower, scored an identical motor in decent shape with 115v start option. Wish me luck. I love being able to see a teardown or overhaul before I try it. Results in fewer extra fasteners. 👍

Good video and it's nice you try to be fair and unbiased. As far as I can see, if a carb works ok, what's the problem whether it's adjustable or non-adjustable? You're good to go either way so no issues. Others have made the good point if you live at altitude, adjustable is a good feature. Most Americans live under 2000 feet so the non-adjustable would likely work fine for most of us.
I am still running a 1972 Ariens 24" SnoThro purchsaed new with 7hp Tecumseh and this style carb. I live in Western NY in the lake effect area so this machine has had a workout. The dump valve started leaking and I replaced the bowl with the new style without dump valve. It was about 80% cheaper than the still available type with dump valve so cuz I'm frugal, I went the cheaper route knowing the engine would run the same.
I set the original bowl aside thinking I might try to replace the tiny leaking "O" ring some rainy day. Recently I was able to do that very tedious and fussy job successfully. I used tweezers, a little pick tool and a couple jewelers screwdrivers to keep the valve pried open. It was not easy and taxed my patience but I enjoyed proving it CAN be done if you have the will. You almost need three or four hands so don't try this when you are tired or in any kind of a hurry. I reinstalled the repaired bowl and it's working fine. I like being able to dump the fuel before off-season storage. First I run the engine out of gas after siphoning the tank empty while the machine is tilted to get the most fuel out. I also put a tiny amount of Stabil in the tank before starting the storage process. Might be overkill but it works for me. Have only taken carb apart for cleaning once in the 51 years I've had the machine. They don't make 'em like they used to ;-)

I agree. It's like the old '97 Ranger I had, probably the last truck on earth with a manual transmission. I don't want no machine telling me what gear to be in or what the mixture should be. Control freak I am. A dozen years ago I actually worked at Ariens machining parts. Sucky 3rd shift job and by then they were using Briggs motors. At least now I have an old '80s Snow King and once I figured out what those adjustments did, I never had a problem. Great video THANKS!

I do like to have an adjustable carburetor. Though I can say that none adjustable carburetors do have their merit. There is also a reason that I prefer Edelbrock to Holly when it comes to a carburetor for a vehicle engine both are adjustable but tuning a holly is some kind of witchcraft that I don't know nothing about or very little at least. Now that I've written you a book I think both ways have their own merit. Have a good day my friend!

I checked Amazon and saw a Hooai carb replacement for the 632371A but the description says “Not Compatible with 10% Ethanol Gas.” I guess I can’t use this. Do you have any suggestions? For the price its a no brainer. And in almost every case it leaves me with an extra carb for parts if im in a pinch and need to help someone out rite away.

I was hoping to gain some insight here - although I've reworked Tecumseh carbs for a long while.
As soon as you stated that Ethanol BREAKS DOWN INTO WATER (an absolutely 100% false statement) I chose to down thumb and leave this parting shot.
Ethanol Alcohol is mixed with gasoline because it makes cheap gasoline even cheaper. The Ethanol mixes VERY easily with water and after the heating of the day (expanding the air in the fuel tank) the cooler temperatures of night cool that same air and through shrinking draws outside air into the tank. That outside air contains some water vapor which condenses on the inside walls of the Carb. Liquid water particles contact that Gasoline hosted Ethanol Alcohol which VERY actively acquires the water, absorbing it into the alcohol.
THAT is how liquid water and alcohol end up together inside the tank. Alcohol prefers water to gasoline.
Concurrent air exchanges provide Oxygen which results in corrosion inside the tank (and carb bowl).
Good luck pushing your own thoughts here.

I have never worked with an adjustable small engine carb. I have bought several cheap Chineseium carbs from Amazon and they worked great. Maybe an adjustable one would work better at higher altitudes where the air is thin but I haven't noticed any issues. I live at 4500 ft

Ended up putting the original on but the fumes are bad. I know my spring adjustments are messed up as the governor doesn't give me enough rpm, but it gets the job done. Those Chinese carbs do work. However I've had at least 2 leak right out of the box. I finally found out that during shipping and handling the needle valve becomes dislodged.. So the fuel just keeps flowing. You even have to be careful installing the carb and keep it as horizontal as possible when installing it. After that they work just fine and you can't beat the price.

Just goes to show how cheap these carbs can be built for.. call it Chinese or what. Ever. Do the 14 dollar carbs run?? If so I guess the only cheap is the price...

$14 dollars in 2021-2022? Now, this kit is $28.80 + $14.20 shipping. I don't want to make a 7 year old kid loose his chineesium job. 8 year old took his place. Why? He's got shoes and has been casting metal for 14 months. No substitute for Experience & shoes around hot metal.
