HA! Far from an expert, just have worked on a ton of these. Thank you for the kind words and for tuning in!

So I have a similar Snow Blower. Leaks Gas through the intake side while running. Replaced the Carb with a new one and it did the same thing... Replaced it again thinking the one that was new was a return used. STILL leaked gas through the choke area of the carb while running... Set it aside... FINALLY found the problem.... I had sucked gas out of a tank using a Turkey Baster with a black ball. Must have gotten gas in the rubber area... Found tiny black rubber balls in my gas tank... I had reused the gas I had sucked out... No Fuel Filter... The tiny black balls got in the needle valve and let fuel flow.... I have a DR Brush that I went to start and checked the oil. Full of GAS... Needle sticking.... Glad I always check the oil... New Viewer.

I've learned the hard way as well to stay away from using old gas that wad pulled out of something else. Good work figuring it out!

I have tried two different nonadjustable carburetors from amazon, and they only work on full chock and then next day they would not work. This time I will try the adjustable carburetor and if that won't work. then I will try the Oregon brand adjustable carb. I saw one viewer comment went to the Oregon adjustable brand that work well for him, and I heard Oregon carb brand works well on the Tecumseh engines or OEM carburetors. Thank you for the video this help me out to decide which carb to work with.

I did this on a MasterCraft snowblower with an 8HP Tecumseh. After messing with the nonadjustable carb that was on it, I said screw it. I put an Oregon adjustable on it, and the snowblower runs like a top.
Your video was very in-depth and would be helpful to someone who is doing this.

For some reason you can buy a new carb for the same price or cheaper than a rebuild kit.

What was your starting point on the main mixture screw and the idle mixture screw..?

They generally come pretty close out of the box. But if I'm not happy, I'll reset them to 1.5 turns out and go from there.

I got another question for you....I have a ariens snowblower that was thrown away...its got tecumseh HS40 on it and after market carburetor...I tried to put the bracket on it that hold carb. and choke and so on...I have no throttle on it so I'm looking to find out how fast it should be going to adjust the main mixture screw ? Thanks in advance...your the only time that took the time to answer me on another question before...thank you

Adjust the main at full throttle. Full throttle meaning fast operating RPM. Hope that helps.

Great video, can you post a link to the Carburetor you used?
