- Yep! This little stove is a winner. I will do more testing with different wood to see if I get a more controlled burn. And, try some real cooking as well.
If you are looking for one of these, I really like everything about this one. Anybody's guess on how it ranks compared to other brands.

What's nice about the alcohol burner is you don't have to worry about soot getting all over your pot compared to wood fire. A heat diffuser will protect the pot from soot if you were to burn wood.

I know you wont read this but its a down burner. Cut your wood to where its just under the top holes, stack it in there vertically and then light it with the vaseline soaked cotton balls. It will burn from the top down and the flames will come out of the top holes. It will burn for around 45 min with pieces cut about as big around as your thumb. We use this all the time on our hunting trips. If you read this I hope it helps

If you put carbon felt inside that homemade burner it should burn a lot longer.
