    Saying a lot...yet saying nothing! I'm really sorry, although this press conference tells us nothing of the AD's dismissal. If it's a matter of goals not being met, how is that a privacy matter.

    No matter what this man says it will remain a stain on his career as president of the University of Hawaii.

      Not if the AD was caught doing what June Jones did when they let him go

    Keep in mind, this is coming from a university president who was totally unaware that a major student housing complex, on the UH campus, had been abandoned and deteriorating for six years. So I question on whether or not he knows what's going on within the university. He's very out of touch.
    With that said, Lassner DOES NOT have any obligation to share the details of Craig Angelos' dismissal with the public. So many people, mistakenly, believe that just because a person is a public employee that the general public should have access to his employee records. If you believe this, then you're extremely misinformed. An employee - regardless of whether or not he works for a public or a private institution, is entitled to a basic level of confidentiality.
    So stop pressing that the details of his employment history should be released because that is ludicrous. Now if Craig Angelos chooses to share his side of the story, then that's up to him. But the University has an OBLIGATION to maintain a level of confidentiality. If UH actually start sharing the details of his employment history, publicly, and their reasons for his dismissal, he could probably sue them.

      Angelos has said himself that he doesn't fully understand the specific reasons he's being let go. Is he not entitled to have things fully explained to him?

    • @user-sg8kq7ii3y
      @user-sg8kq7ii3y 6 ชั่วโมงที่ผ่านมา

      @@davec3651 But read my statement above. I said Lassner has no obligation to explain things to the GENERAL PUBLIC.
      Does Angelos deserve things to be explained to him? It depends. Have you heard of being hired "at will"?
      I used to work for a company who hired "at will", and in that particular company, the employer can terminate an employee without notice, at any time, and they do not need to give a reason for the termination. At the time of hire, the employee agrees to this, and signs a document.
      And I've seen coworkers terminated in this way several times. The boss would just come up to the coworker and say, "This is your last day. You can either finish up the day, or you can leave now."
      So if Angelos was hired under a similar criteria, then Lassner and UH does not owe anyone, including Angelos himself, an explanation.
      But people today just yak, yak, yak and gossip, gossip, gossip, without knowing all the details.

      @@user-sg8kq7ii3y Although your comments are mostly right. I believe UH has to follow EEOC guidelines so Angelos can still file a claim for wrongful termination. So yes the public does not need to know but Angelos is owed an explanation.

    • @user-sg8kq7ii3y
      @user-sg8kq7ii3y 3 ชั่วโมงที่ผ่านมา

      @@Lkdnh Again, it depends on what the contract says. In the company I worked for, no explanation was needed if the company decided to terminate. That was stated very clearly at the time of hire. So it really depends on what Angelos and UH agreed to at the time of hire. It's really up to Angelos if he wants to share. Thus far, he's not sharing anything. UH not saying anything. Angelos not saying anything. This is why the rumors start.
      I will agree on one thing. The University of Hawaii leadership is a mess.

    Angelos is probably saying - how bad of a Clown show did I get hired into. He is gone - we probably lost this guy for good because of Lassner and the UH Attorneys who quietly run the show up there! Lassner will go down with this on his legacy just like rest of them who left under a black cloud! Hope he has plans to move back to the mainland - because now anytime he appears in public he’ll be met with negativity- all those TV newscasts goodbye tours and popularity at UH Volleyball and Basketball games will gone - and he’ll be met with a bunch of Booooos!

    Unfortunately, imho this is just more UH politics - plain & simple. Lassner spent 14 minutes & 43 seconds speaking and really said little. He should pursue a career in politics when he retires - but NOT in Hawaii.

      He doesn't have anything to do with hiring of the AD. He has to get the regents approval.

    Gonna set the record straight…
    Craig Angelos was a used car salesman!
    We all fell in love with his charisma and personality but behind the scenes… he took all credit with acknowledging the people who actually did the work and also most of the deals the public THOUGHT he did… these deals were automatic that he didn’t need to be a part of but yet he took full credit
    Lassiner knew about the mountain west deal and the travel subsidy that the public said he did a great job BUT it was an automatic inclusion for Hawaii to be with the MW
    How would you like to work with a guy who you knew didn’t do Jack but got full credit
    Karma’s a bitch!!

    Stakeholders who invest money, time, effort, and belief into University of Hawaii Education, Athletics, and organization don't seem to align with the ultimate decision made on their behalf....isn't this a breach of social contract?

    He has information that we don't have that he cannot disclose. He doesn't want to talk badly about Mr. Angelos. Certainly we have to consider that he knows what he is doing. Just like the coaches. They have way more information than we have about who should get playing time. Let the president presidentiate, let the coaches coach and let's cheer on the awesome student athletes.

    4:30 - Lassner basically admits Angelos is being terminated because you don't want to do things my way. Yet, this President allows the football team to play on a upgraded highschool field. He could have been more involved in Aloha Stadiums demise. Stadium replacement should have had more urgency
