EV owners scranble to sell after S Korea carfire. No one wants used EVs!
I drive a 2000 Tacoma. I puff cigars and drive the speed limit listening to classic rock. I have 31" Good Year Duratrack tires and can drive through a foot or so of snow in the Rocky Mountains. I've got 286,000 miles and going strong.

@@maxxmichthe older ones r bearable with compared to the newer German nightmares. Had a 2000 A6 Quattro oil change took ab 20 min half an hour tops, spin on filter right next to the drain plug n oil pan. Simple. The new stuff? Nothing but cartridge filters with multiple o-rings made of plastic that can break, drain plugs that r also plastic that can break with very little effort, and after u reset the oil life, if u can without a scanner, you’ll have an inspection, air filter and tire light to reset
These cars r made to eat your wallet they go out of their way to design a car to try to charge labor on an OIL CHANGE imaging getting anything else/bigger done to those
Owning a Porsche is expensive. A better option for a low maintenance weekend fun car is a Miata. That's what I would get. No luxury tax either.
not a male I assume
@@jlover911 Oh, please. Miata's are not sissy cars. My neighbor has a newer MX5 with a LS3 swap that does mid 11's in 1/4 mi. It's a blast!
LS swap in a Miata. Goes quick in a straight line.
Porsche goes swift in the twisties.
I did a V8 swap once. Pain in theass to work in itty bitty engine bay.
Hindsight I woud buy a C7 Corvette.
Doesn't drop in value with engine swap.
Niche Market for resale and taking a bath.
Beemers, Audis, Mercedes, Jags are money pits when they age.
@@jlover911 Ppl race their Miatas. Pound for pound the best bang for your money. Are you saying that because your masculinity is somehow threatened? That's okay: the hottest women out there aren't into you nor your car.
Christ Scotty. I literally just bought a 2018 Mustang with the 10 speed Saturday. I can't stomach watching this video. I would rather be blissfully ignorant than think I'm screwed.
You may want to get the transmission checked out,and if it checks out ok ,don’t drive it too hard and you may be fine. If it has problems starting you may still be cheaper to get rid of it then fix it down the road. Lesson learned, now a days you really got to do your homework before buying anything unfortunately. Good luck, I hope it works out well for you!
Have enjoyed your Video's for some time now. And as a Motor mechanic all my working life I really know where you're coming from. Best wishes from East Yorkshire UK 🇬🇧.
The first guy should’ve got the tremic 6 speed manual
GT’s only offer the mt82 (pos) chinese sourced gearbox, he dodged a bullet
@@_zigzak oh damn I forgot about that 😅
@2015BLOXXER great transmission
Mustang GT peeps want the 10 speed so they can win races, those that want to mow down crowd at car shows opt for the manual 😄
I rented a Jetta for a week and it was a blast to drive. You would think the 150hp engine would be sluggish but its actually very zippy, could pass people on steep inclines on the highway. was averaging 41 mpg around the california redwoods which is nothing but hills.
I owned a manual 1.4 n/a Suzuki Swift & it was zippy..... people would ask me what did I do to the engine ....it was only 94 HP
I'm on my 2nd Jetta. Drove the 1st for 150k 14 yrs, traded in for another one, still driving it, 171.500k miles, had for 16 yrs and it's going strong! And no, I don't know how to work on cars. Both were and one still is a GREAT car!
Had a Passat GLX 4-motion for several years. Comfortable car, but a maintenance hog. Glad I traded it in on a Honda.
I'm on my 2nd Jetta as well. 1st one bought used at 71K, drove it until 240K when the AC went bad. Bought a brand new Jetta. Still driving it after 92K. I don't know how to work on cars either.
I don't get what Scotty is talking about. I love driving my 2017 VW Jetta. Everything works fine and all's I have ever done is change the fluids and the air filters.
Not my experience my Jetta was in the shop constantly for failures and gremlins
@@Chr1s-fm6bi I'm sorry to hear that. If you have the time, I'd like to know what year Jetta was yours, where was it made, and did it have the manual transmission?
Sometimes I just shake my head when scotty talks about things. He needs to say it is 90% operator error. Let me ruin my car and then pretend it's the cars fault.
Maaan, these companies don’t care. Every thing is disposable.
The air-cooled 911s still bring big bucks. Even the crapiest 911 air cooled years bring more than any water cooled.
They are a money pit. I was always at the shop, and I adjusted the valves, tuneups, et cetera.
Brings big bucks to the dealers, mechanics and parts store owner.
Cars are not about how much they are worth, they're about what it is worth to you.
I have a Ford truck and have had several Fords over the years but their quality has dropped significantly and I wouldn’t buy a new one
A 10 foot Pole? I've met some people from Poland, and known people with Polish ancestry, but I've never seen one 10 feet tall!!
Bah doom tiss
I once met a man with a wooden leg named Smith.
What was his other leg called?
Keep your day job. Not funny
@@garylangley4502 😅😂🤣
Good one
VW tried to sell me a broken Jetta for $34,000 and then a GLI for $41000. Didn’t buy either as they were marked up 9k
Rev up your ten foot pole.
Careful, if you rev up your 10 foot pole you could get shocked. Then you'll crap your pants!
Ahaha this is probably the best comment ‼️
Rev up the 10 foot pole ‼️
I have a 2020 Ranger. I love the 10 speed but you drive them differently. Give it a little gas and keep it there, don't fiddle with the gas peddle. I get 26 MPG around town.
Man $30K for that Turbo what a steal...I bought a Porsche and I love it but there is no arguing that the maintenance is very expensive. But I knew that going in. Don't buy one if you aren't going to keep it up and certainly don't buy a used one that doesn't have service records.
Yup, Porsche is the most reliable brand out of those, when you include BMW, Mercedes and Audi.
Ford Slushboxes is what we used to call them
Rented 10 speed f150 great mpg fast as f worked great don't remember if v8 I believe so.
I swear, all other things being equal, the best car you can buy is a second hand Lexus.
Yup, buy a used Lexus over a new Toyota, better equipped and smoother drive.
I currently have a 2020 Explorer in the shop for the same issue. Has definitely left a bad taste in my mouth for these. I'll be looking to get rid of mine before the powertrain warranty is up.
Rented a Ford f550 and I could feel shuters in the trans.. 11,000 miles from U-Haul. Wild
A customer came into my shop with a 2020 Hyundai Sonata on the trailer saying the engine had blown, the car had 113,000 miles, when I started asking him questions I asked when it was the last time I had changed his oil and he turned to me very surprised- "Do I need to change the oil, is it that important?" 😭😭😭😭🤣 I told the guy to get out of my workshop 😂
I think that might be some (not all) of the root cause Hyundai had with the Theta II and engine fires. It's an economy brand so to speak and the people attracted to that aren't always the best with maintenance.
@@stuglenn1112 And these are the same people who then go to Hyundai dealerships to ask to activate the warranty... Many times they refuse to activate it due to maintenance negligence and I think that's right! I mean people don't take care of their car and then want all the repairs for free 😂😂😂 I can't stand these kinds of people...
IMO, Learn how to drive manual if you buy a stang
Scotty recommending the TURBO version is SHOCKING ! I now know I have entered an alternate reality.
There are always exceptions to rules. This is one of them.
I would never take a convertible to a race track. I dont care who the manufacturer is. The lack of torsional rigidity in a car with no roof make for an inferior cornering car. When comparing two of the same car but one has roof and the other doesnt
Miata and S2000 would like a word with you.

I had a '70s Porsche, and yes, I drove it to see how fast it would go. At 110, that was it.
Engineered to fail. Making you buy a new vehicle.
If you play with your ten foot pole too much you'll go blind
With a rosh blower I was getting 28 mph when I kept my foot out of IT which was hard to do 🎉 on my 2019. Fun car. My 2017 is 27 mpg with 130k 6 speed auto. Zero issues.
Manual transmission , Yes, Porsche sounds great. Most vehicles I owned were manuals, clutch wear out sometimes. Cheers all.
I get over 18 mpg in my 21 GT. My 69 Cobra jet gets 3 gallons to the mile😂. Probably more like 8 mpg.
Scotty Kilmers arm's move fast than any car in this video
Double Piston Scotty
I will never understand why buy sport car with automatic transmission
Americans love automatics.
So do ♀️
Because it's easier to sit in a long line at the drive-thru
@@ronaldmcdonald9322- someone who has no experience driving a manual gearbox
The Ford 10 speed issues are with the internal drum inside ,the newer ones was revised with a hard coating, they made of butter soft aluminum
From the multiple vehicles with automatic transmissions over the decades I've driven, anything with more than 6 forward ratios is a waste because only the overdrive gets taller.
I have a 2018 6 Speed Mustang GT. My gas mileage is terrible. That's OK. I didn't buy it for gas mileage. I would have gotten something like a Prius or Corolla if I was concerned about gas mileage.
I'd take that Lexus RX350 that you got behind during the Porche's road test than the Porche...because I can't afford a Porche and I love my RX350 lol
I get great 50 MPG from my '19 Jetta not diesel just no problems so far at 51K
ours broke at 98k miles, babied and maintained. The cars are trash, got a Toyota and never looked back
Just you wait, needs are coming to get another car ,soon.....GOOD LUCK!
@@Tone_Of_Dialsmy alh Diesel on 403,000 so...
I keep a lookout for a Mustang with the 3.7 and manual transmission but they aren't as common as you think. Most have the automatics but thankfully they aren't the current 10 speed. This 10 speed seems to have a combination of software bugs and design flaws. The older Ford automatics and manuals were better.
I'm so happy I got my Camaro with the 8 speed trans much less issues than the 10 speed.
10-foot pole. pool pumps and motors..(some of them not all) some of them just have bad DESIGN
Pumps move 2-3 times the weight of your house every day!!!
We have ford transit vans as maintenance vehicles. They have the 10 speed transmission and it’s a damn joke. Never knows what gear it’s supposed to be in
The best way to take care of the car, is changing the manual transmission gear oil, every few years. And drive it for ever.
I get to drive a Ford Transit 250 a couple of times a week. 10 speed auto with a commercial 350 Ecoboost. It holds 14 quarts of oil. Damn thing is stout when I’m in Sport Mode and it’s in Normal Mode. 2023 with 20,000 miles.
I loved my 02 jetta glx. Vr6 with 5spd. Unfortunately rust got to it. Living in the rustbelt takes its toll on cars
Interesting comments on German air-cooled engine pitfalls. Fully depreciated master mechanics can drive what they want. Thank you, Scotty!
Air-cooled ones probably have more character to them.
for the Mustang, just go ahead and pay to have those powder coated, properly.
Damn, I was even considering a VW Jetta, but the 2.5 5 banger, none of the turbo variants. I suppose when Scotty says all he means all!
He's giddy on that takeoff with the Porsche
I'm so high and too broke to be in the market for another car .....but I'm still watching😅
Loser 🤣
I used to “race” the Porsches and Mustangs in my XJ early am on Lincoln Dr. betwixt Scottsdale and Paradise Valley, AZ. Not super fast, just fun. PD never stopped us.
Steve McQueen as Bullitt. That's the mustang I wanted
my Dodge Stealth RT with a 6 g72 3.0v6 24 valve dual overhead cam motor used to get 28 miles to the gallon on the highway and that is a 1994 5-speed manual dogging it and all. so 27 miles to the gallon out of a 10-speed automatic really doesn't impress
my point is 30 years later and somebody couldn't do better? in my humble opinion that means the consumer is getting screwed!
That 9-11 has tinted windows, including the windshield. I hope he doesn't get pulled over for that.
Very tinted Porsche. Beautiful car none the less
Wife's Mustang is a 6-speed manual. She can get 24mpg if she babies the accelerator. I get 21mpg. But a 10 speed auto scares me.
Own a 6,8,10 year old Porsche shows they're poor rich people! LOL
One man's problem is another man treasure .
It would be easier to list the ones I would buy. All Ford, GM, Stellantis, all European brands. New Tundra that has the new 6 cylinder, Nissan with CVT.
Being this early to a Scotty vid is criminal 🤟
Be ready for a few of those three letter agencies to knock on your door soon. 😂
New Mustangs are a joke! Just lots of bells and whistles and junk! There is no reason to have a 10 speed tranny in that bucket of bolts! If it was free you couldn't give one to me!
Porsche! A waste if money if ever there was! Rich kids toys. Nothing more and much less.
VW: Not even worthy of a comment! That wreck sounds like my lawn mower!
It's not a sports car if it's an automatic, manual transmission makes it a sports car. If you want to drive an automatic transmission, buy a luxury vehicle
Love scotty, that said 99.9% of customers cars he shows. Has a fish story of how they got great deals, fixed themselfs for $50.00.
I have a mazdaspeed3 it’s going good just needs a new pcv valve, an occ vented to atmosphere, and some new valve cover seals also some new vvt actuator seals
It leaks blow by out the valve cover gaskets if I try to drive it right now.
That's the problem with Mustang owners: no money left to buy things like rims and gotta plasti-dip up everything! 😂
I had a 98 SVT cobra 4.6. I got 25 to 26.5 mpg driving conservatively on the highway. 5 speed manual. Only after market part was the exhaust. Nice car..still see it around town . Probably less than 100k miles on it..but I'm just guessing
I have had an 88 G body( doesnt matter which g body) i maintained it religeously!!!! It had a "body count" on the track, and street.... It never failed.... SCOTTY GAVE US OUR MANTRA when he began his journey in MECHANICS " try not to modify, if you cant maintain first!!!! Doesnt matter the car!!!
Man I know you said you wouldn't touch with a 10 foot pull. But ironically you have sold me on the 2018 mustang. I actually want to buy one 🤷
Do a video on 2003 towncar
While Porsches CAN have expensive repairs, I owned one for six years and the only expenses were an oil change for $300 once a year and every other year a more extensive $1000 service.
Most normal cars will cost you that much or more for maintenance.
Most cars these days will be just fine with proper and consistent maintenance, and of course higher end cars have more expensive repairs, a lot of german cars specifically tend to get hate for that, and yet when they're maintained and driven the way they should be, they are much better than anything japanese built in my opinion, they handle better, sound better, and they're especially more fun to drive.
I don't mean to compare german cars to japanese cars, but in general people trying to compare for example a kia optima to an audi rs5 when talking about reliability is crazy. They're very different cars for so many reasons and most people don't understand that.
Only 1 oil change in a year?
I was about to say 😂 hopefully he only drives 5000 miles a year @@jimmytimmy3680

Factory tuning is the issue. Ask any s550/650 owner that’s has a brain will tell you. Still one of the best sports cars per $ spent .
Nope not me I'll keep my 2012 Camry xle.
Wait so are you including the newer ranger 10 speeds too or just the mustang? To anyone who owns one, are they crap or good?
Hey Scottie I'm just curious about what Your thoughts and feelings are about the Datson/Nissan Z's and ZX series. I've had 3 from the early 80s and late 70s. But I really want to get another one.
Scotty my long lost granddaddy 😂🤣 done taught me so much 🙌🏿
Great content man! You got boat loads.
I can smell that Jetta.
1995-2000 Civic is the goat..

FORDS FIX on modern cars is SOFTWARE UPDATES!! Just a bandaid! They tried this on the newish style ford focus with the double clutch transmissions 2014-2021’s never fixed it the buy back was a joke! And the repair was to replace clutches and flash ECM/TCM and update software for clutches! Just replacing the clutches did nothing
They had horrible shudders between gears and clatter! And then trans stops all together! 😂
Scotty wont buy a nice car for himself but i wish his family would. My word he deserves it. He is a human Dynamo and has given his family everything without asking for anything in return. He wont accept a new one but i would treat him to a Lexus lc 500. A Mint used one goes for $60,000.
I have both a 2017 VW Jetta and VW GTI. Both cars have manual transsmissions. Both cars have had zero issues and are really fun to drive. Here's a tip. If you don't need a hatchback, buy the Jetta with a manual transmission. You will save a lot of money, get great gas mileage, and the car just has a great feel of the road. Up to 150 thousand miles the Jetta completely smokes the Honda Civic and Toyota Corolla.
Crazy! What is up with gas mileage? Our 1986 Honda CRX HF got 53 miles to the gallon with a 1.5 l 3 barrel carburetor? My 2002 Corvette LS1 350hp engine got 30 miles to the gallon on a long trip? What's up??? I mean come on in 1986 we were getting 53 miles to the gallon? How bad can a carburetor really be???? That was 1986!!!!!! With that kind of mileage you are squeezing fuel! How bad can emissions really be? Everything over 40 miles per gallon is like oh my God these days?
The testing was different back then.
Weight increase
If a 6 years old car needs to have "a lot work done" it' s a very good reason not to buy it😂
Scotty purchased a V6 Chrysler 300s 2017 8 speed automatic what are your views on it
10 speed 0r 30 speed LoL ! Scotty, beam me up!
Scott class in session
I have 2005 Toyota rav4 won't take more then 2 gallons a gas and then I got wait for a few hours before I can put more. What can it be?
Dodges, vws, Subaru, that's newer ones .
Automatic transmission is crap for limited cognitive people 😂😂
Mustang=needs to be manual for best results
To me buying a Porsche as a middle class man is someone who is screaming for attention. And rich people usually buy something better than a Porsche. Too many people have daddy issues! 😂
Some guy in Italy bought this mustang the new ones......the old school model was better
I wouldn't touch any vehicle one of your viewers has worked on 😂
Should I trust the oil life indicator on the Chevy Malibu? What does this mean exactly?
If you know the oil is new and it still goes on that means it doesn't work
It needs to be reset manually after an oil change. Your owner's manual (or Google) will show you how.
Hey Scotty love your videos. My 2017 1500 Sierra just had the transmission go out. I am planning on repairing the truck to get me by for another year or two but I’m looking to by a work truck afterwards. Any suggestions on the best full sized work truck for an electrical contractor? Needs to have a ladder rack and be able to commute between 2-4hrs a day.
Get GM to give you a new tranny. There’s going to be a Class Actio lawsuit against GM for all the years they put crap trannys with the “Chevy Shake “ in Sierras, Silverados , etc. in the years mid to late 20 teens.
I wonder why Scotty moved from Texas to Tennessee.
Scott. Ty for your work. I have a question. I have a Toyota Prius. At 118,000 miles went against Toyota and changed transmission fluid 12v battery and ABS SYSTEM It runs better. When it’s hot outside or rainy upon acceleration the engine over revis power is lacking. Feels like slipping. Onky when it’s hot or rainy outside. I live I. Florida have covered parking. What could be wrong
