    This is exactly what I needed exactly now! I'm still fumbling a bit -- going from studio setup in the 90's to a livestream setup now has a little bit of a learnign curve.
    Agreed, vMix is great.

    hey john, thanks for this interesting video! for almost exactly one year, my job has turned into exactly what this video covers. I stream and record multi-camera music concerts with the studio I work at. I set up 8 static cameras on tripods and feed them to the Blackmagic television studio HD, deal with lighting and composing shots, and do the camera switching (as well as being a part of the whole audio production as well). during the past year, I've done over 250 multi-camera productions!! (i've been busy)
    sooo much of what you covered in this video was extremely relatable to me and it was fun to watch, see the similarities (which there were many) and some of the different perspectives you offered as well.

    Great presentation! I do livestream at our church and you've confirmed some choices I've already made. Thanks. We are using OBS, 2 R800 camcorders, an AVKANS PTZ 20x and 1 Logitec web cam for the fixed wide shot for live editing. I've learned to use the webcam to switch to when the main camera is moving to change shots. We have some special events coming up and you've given me help thinking how to place the cameras. I also mix the sound but always question it since I have issues and hearing aids. I laugh when people expect me to figure out sound issues. I do but it takes longer. Thanks

    John: great, great, great. What else can I say? Great! These challenging times have turned live production into an existentialist experience: if you don’t know how to live stream your very survival might be at stake. I’ve had to revert to multicam streaming using the popular platforms to offset the shutdown of physical meeting sessions during corporate trainings and have adopted a slim setup using the ubiquitous Atem mini along other pieces of gear to jazz up my online corporate training sessions. Your video is a precious resource or asset for someone like me that has had to learn the hard way what live streaming requires, though I can tell you that the leap into a more professional live production during my training sessions has provoked unsolicited appreciation feedbacks that have made think of a fully fledged startup, hopefully coming out soon. Great great great asset is your video. Thank you so much.

    I didn't know what to expect from the title but it certainly wasn't a look at what I've been doing for my church for almost a decade now. The biggest obstacle to a quality setup is always the person in charge imposing limitations or deciding to change things last-minute.
    Oh, and a note about compatibility: Check what version of Windows it needs. Some stuff (like Elgato's capture stuff for gamers) isn't compatible with older versions. If you think this is irrelevant, well you've never worked with other people's equipment. Work a few venues and you'll be astounded by how many people still use XP and Vista.

    Great really video...
    I am not in the livestream totally,I did it in corona time more now less
    I mostly record classical concert on multicam multimic setup and edit them after .Half of my cameras are Blackmagic Pocket line and the other half Hybrid Panasonic GH5s S5,gh5 ...live stream is mostly for my client too expensive and lack of total control is a minus...classical musicien like to see before puting it online.
    So what I do it is more in production style old school.
    I did some livestream TH-cam concert as soundingenieur at the mixing table feeding the switcher with audio from the concert and it is not always optimal.
    Classical music régie, chosing the angles is as well not easy,you need to read the score and have a good crew who knows what they are doing, like for sports.
    It's why it is cheaper most of the time to just record the venue in log, multicam and edit it in post, and more time to edit the cut.
    But I can do live stream if somebody ask and the atem iso pro is I think the best tool for what I do if I need to stream as well as OBS.

In college it’s a little longer than 400’ and “never” fails. Love it. PTZ cameras are cool. I’ve got one but really don’t use it as much as I should. My question is….can I some how use the Hollyland to not only use it with video, but be able to control it through the Hollyland? Thanks for the video. I’m be looking at others.

    SOOOO, I had a smigg of tradtional video production and broadcasting experience. But I am A Twitch streamer wanting to try something new.
    My goal is to have a set up with like 5 cameras, in different rooms, webcams and mirrorless cameras. Webcams I use USB extenders for. Currently use obs and an elgato stream deck to swap scenes/shots. for mobile audio i use a wireless headset, and for my main shot i use an xlr microphone. The goal is to have 2 static cameras in the game room, 1 in the living room and one in the kitchen. This way i could merge Gaming and IRL content all into 1 stream instead of multiple using my phone and the mobile app to stream IRL content. I could have a moderator switch the category and then use the mobile stream deck app to swap scenes to transition to say a cooking stream after gaming. Or if I leave the room to grab a snack have the cameras follow me instead of having a brb screen, ect.
    Is this something I could accomplish with webcams for now, or would I need to upgrade equipment? Im trying to figure out if i should do a dual pc set up ect. I loved this video because its the first ive seen that goes in depth, and mentions more that 2 cameras.

    • @FilmmakerIQ
      @FilmmakerIQ  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      You might be able to pull off webcams with streams from multiple computers... Definitely will get complicated.
      But look into NDI... It's basically video over a network which means you can literally take feeds from anywhere on the network no matter how far away.

  • @ChristCenteredMinist
    @ChristCenteredMinist 5 หลายเดือนก่อน

    you forgot transition points like. Don't try every transition the switcher has live on the air. use mainly cuts or cross-fades only and only one or two 'Cool' transitions when going to/from an offshoot.

    • @FilmmakerIQ
      @FilmmakerIQ  8 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Combo cable is a Ethernet SDI cables fused together... So it's one strand with two cables.
      Truth be told there isn't an easy way to wirelessly send Visca over IP wirelessly. PTZ optics dies have a wireless solution but it's pretty expensive. I was starting to play with sending wireless signals via NDI-HX ( both control and video signal) but it seems that just isn't going to be a reliable method yet.

    Hey John, what kind of video output do you get from that Mirabox capture card? I bought a similar one recently and found out I'm getting a rather weak MJPEG output from it, noticeably blocky and smudged, and no option anywhere to adjust the bitrate or change the format.

    • @FilmmakerIQ
      @FilmmakerIQ  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Weird, it's pretty decent for me. I've actually used that as input for some of my live streams on this channel without noticing anything off or having to change any setting. Maybe you got a defective one?

    • @TehBurek
      @TehBurek 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@FilmmakerIQ Nah, maybe just a too cheap one :) It's not looking like it's broken, it's just that the data that's coming out of it is in a bad format and at too low of a bitrate. Just to be clear, it's not *exactly* like the one you showed, I meant a thing of a similar price range and form factor. I did some digging in the meantime, and it seems that the one you have can output video in YUY2 format instead of MJPEG, which should be a notable improvement. If you find some time, try checking the advanced settings in OBS for the capture device, alongside resolution and rate and such, there might be a video format to select. You're probably going to have a selection between MJPEG and YUY2.

      @@FilmmakerIQ Were you using it with real-world camera feeds or computer/console output? I guess compression is most visible on sharp text and edges of PC desktop output, which is what I was using it for, so it's really noticeable. Or maybe you just have a higher bitrate MJPEG, so even that looks better. I guess don't fix what's not broken, but you could possibly get an even better output with YUY2.
