I’ve been Riding for 23 years and I’ve always seen brembo as a premium brake option. I was disappointed to get my BMW GS with Brakes I’ve never heard of on it. Let alone mix matched brakes. Seemed like bmw was cheeping out. I was pleased to get brembos as a warranty fix but the gs as a premium bike should have always had Brembo brakes.
Your research, structure and delivery is unquestionably professional I’m not an engineer I don’t even own a GS but I can’t stop watching your videos lol. Who knows I may sell my trusty V Strom (who’s callipers have never leaked) and take the plunge one day! BMW should put you on the payroll (but then from a viewers point of view it wouldn’t be unbiased), excellent work Carl so refreshing to listen to a professional explaining just how it is . Keep up the good work 👍🇬🇧
Hi Andrew good morning and welcome to the channel, well I love bikes and wether its Suzuki or Triumph or any of the manufacturers... its does not matter to me. It's about our passion!!! The V-Strom is a great bike I did ride one a few years back i was impressed and great value for money too. Thankyou for your feedback it's always nice to here viewers enjoy the content. It does however take a long time to make a video and I only do this when there is something interesting to share. Spring is slowly coming 👍 Kindest regards Carl
Your analysis of how the different calipers feel is spot on with my experience. I actually liked the feel of the Hayes calipers, but my bike has now been fitted with Brembo calipers feel more progressive which work very well.
Hi Doug, thank you for feedback 🙏, the Brembo calipers do provide that extra bit of feel / modulation which is a big plus. Hope you are enjoying the series. Kindest regards Carl
Hi Carl. I just discovered your videos. I have to say, as an owner of a 2021 R1250 GS Rallye exactly as the one you show, your videos are a revelation. I also live in Germany. Your explanations are spot on and I enjoy them a lot. Let me tell you about my experience with the bike so far, after 10.000 Km: the Hayes brakes do their job very well, however I have had nothing but noise (metal on metal noise) ever since I bought the bike. At the beginning whilst riding, and it was a pain to convince the dealer that the brakes had a problem, until they found it and repaired (the bike went 4 times into the workshop in the first 500 Km). Now the noise happens when braking. Front and rear. I never had this experience with my previous, non-BMW bikes. As of today the bike is again at the dealer because of a leak on the left telescopic fork. Another story: in Road mode, if my girlfriend rides with me in the back, I get a dialog box on the TFT display stating: „rear shock automatic adjustment defective“. Apparently, it‘s a known problem but as of today BMW does not have a solution for it. All in all, I love the engine, the bike and the way it rides. I am definitely not impressed with BMW‘s quality though. This is supposed to be a premium bike from a premium brand. Anyway, I wish you a lot of fun with it and a lot of success with the you tube channel. Keep it up because it‘s amazing! Best, Lino
Hi Lino, greetings from Hessen, thankyou for sharing your thoughts and issues with your GS. I wonder if you have had the latest software update applied. Mine was much better after the update. I also ride two up a fair bit with my wife and have not seen that error message. The noise from the front brakes can be removed by cleaning the pads and discs. I've done this for several friends and it has always worked so far. Carl
Hey ! I have a triple black 23 plate , i get a tick tick sound when riding but when i apply the brakes it dissapears ! Brand new bike 600 km i checked the calipers to see if they are mounted good but they have no tolerance or play and all seems good ... Did tou have the same ? When i press the front brake it clears
Hi Aldvex, I would suggest a call to your dealer. What you described is not normal and anything connected to brake’s really should be checked asap. When you apply the front brake it also applies the rear so it could be anything connected to the unsprung weight of the bike. So that’s lower suspension , wheels, dampers and mounting points. Give them a call in the morning and describe your observations Do let me know what they find Regards Carl
@@justthewayitis apparently i just report it to my dealer he said due to metallic brake pads they are making contact with the rotor so thats why i hear it loud . Now at 1200 km noise is merely gone , another issue is that the circular junction on the front shock is barely leaking small amount of oil enough to wet the finger tip as i pass my finger from the circle gap 🤕
Hi Aldvex, good morning thank you for sharing your experience. Sorry to hear you have a front damper oil seal leaking I hope BMW replace this under warranty for you. Carl
Hello Jason and welcome, if your in the UK, then all GS & GSA models come with Brembo's, for Europe it's just luck if we get them. Glad to hear you have them. 👍hope your enjoying your GS. Regards Carl
Hi Mark that’s great news. I’m not sure of your location but if your in the UK all GS and GSA models come only with Brembo. But it’s good to hear your happy . Congratulations on your new bike Best wishes Carl
My 1250 GSA, ordered late September, delivered last November (2021, France), has Brembo system. Pretty happy at the time to see that after reading the Hayes problem.
Hey Carl excellent video and such a shame that you've had to go through the hassle of dealing with this issue. I hope that you enjoy those Monoblock Brembos! This video had me going into the shed to check the Hayes calipers on my '21 R1250R. I'm happy to report that I have no signs of leakage despite using the brakes hard on several trackdays. I also find them to be excellent and I think that fact that the 1250 boxers have linked brakes also add to the really effective stopping performance. In fact I think the four-cylinder RR models do too, as well as the single R! I've made a Community post on my channel that links to your video in case any of my viewers own, or knows someone with a Hayes-equipped GS. Take care, Rich 😊
Hi Rich and good evening, sorry you had to go to the garage and check, but I'm pleased you found no cause for concern, because you need your brakes in tip top condition with all your track day work... smile. Yes it was a disappointment to find leaking calipers, but also an interesting opportunity to see how the warranty system works and of course I got the afternoon on the RR... which was amazing. Thankyou for the community link I will check that out tomorrow. Have you been back and measured that dark black line you left on the track in your last video ?... smile. Have a great weekend Carl
good afternoon Carl, and sorry if the English translation is not clear, unfortunately I don't know how to speak English, you helped me with Google Translate
My R1250gs triple black is being/has been built this week at the Berlin factory. I expect it to be equipped with Hayes callipers . Thanks for the video , nicely done and I’ll keep my eyes peeled for leak’s.
@@justthewayitis I can just imagine what my wife will be saying if they leak ! “You spend all that money blah blah blah !” My dealership is good , owned by Nigel Mansells son . Informative video . Thanks .
Hi Melvin and welcome to the channel, sorry to hear that it’s not a good start but BMW will sort it out. Speak to service manager only, and ask nicely for a set of Brembo calipers you might be lucky. Let me know how you get on Regards Carl
Experienced exactly the same problem. I had my (new) bike for 2 months and both front hayes calipers sweated brake fluid. Both were replaced and a couple of days ago I noticed drops of brake fluid on the floor underneath the bike. The left hayes caliper leaks quite a bit of brake fluid. Filed a warranty claim again and today I got the news 2 new Brembo calipers were order to replace the faulty hayes ones.
Hello Agent 013, welcome to the channel and that's great news you have. You will definitely enjoy the Brembo's not only knowing they dont leak but in the difference in feel and performance. It's just sad the Hayes calipers are still having issues which on a high end bike... just shouldn't happen. Let me know what you think after the Brembo's have been installed. Best wishes Carl
Really like your videos. I bought a 2020 R1250GSA in the US with the Hayes brakes. It was recalled due to the caliper issue although I never noticed any fluid leakage. I found the Hayes brakes to perform well, with the difference you noticed in terms of lever travel. They replaced the calipers with Brembo’s and I found those to feel mushy and slow to grab. Not a complaint but just a noticeable difference. I’ve looked at all the new motorcycles on my dealers website and it appears all the bikes have Brembo brakes. Quite surprised to see the Hayes calipers on bikes in Germany. Thanks for all the great info.
Hi Dan, and welcome. Thankyou for the compliment and I'm glad you are enjoying the series. As to the brakes... I do now prefer the feel of the Brembo's which for me provides more feel while braking hard, but both are good systems. Have fun with your GS, Wishing you a good Sunday. Best wishes Carl
Good and detailed report Carl, my GS has just been built and is now on its way to my dealer. Fully expect Hayes callipers and I’m happy that you rate their performance, I will keep my eyes peeled for any leaks appearing. All my BMW’s since 1985 have had Brembo’s and I have had no issues, shame that Haynes have had such a poor start with BMW.
Very nice video! Yes you’re correct about the difference between both brands: my previous GS had Brembo front callipers, and my current one got Hayes. I noticed the difference in travel distance straight away, and I have to say I liked it: they perform really really well even with just 2 fingers on the lever, and my GSA is not a light bike. Thank you for explaining the difference in manufacturing: I was aware of the potential leaking but didn’t look into it. I’ll keep an extra eye out on my bike! 👍
Thanks for another great video. I had a 2015 R1200 RT when I was in Germany and it had Brembo brakes. I assumed my '21 GSA would too but I just looked and it has Hayes on it. Now I know to look closer for leaks. So far they've been good. All my other motorcycles have had Brembos and I obviously couldn't tell the difference from the Hayes. Fantastic brakes as far as I'm concerned and I do push the bike pretty hard in the twisties.
Hi Corey, yes I had no complaints about performance from the Hayes they were / are very good. You might be lucky and have a good pair, just check. Ideally let the brake area get dirty ... say 500 miles and then check them, it's much easier to spot a leak when they have brake dust on them. Best wishes Carl
great video thx ! i had my calipers replaced on my gsa under warranty, no explanation was given ! i have the bmw calipers ( sept 2019 bike). The brakes are phenominal ! though i would point out that the bmw s1000rr is a lot lighter than a gsa which may explain why the brakes felt so much better. 👍
Hi Andy and welcome to the channel, thank you for the compliment, I'm glad your calipers have been replaced, its actually great bmw did this exchange for you. Yes the S1000RR is a lot lighter.... that bike is quite amazing... smile. Best wishes and have a great week. Carl
You mention the brembos seem to give more lever travel, but then again it's using new calipers & pads on the old disks, so surely it's bound to feel a bit different until fully bedded in.
Hello RM and welcome to the channel. It's a good observation but the Brembo's do have more lever travel and feel than the Hayes. I'm going to cover this in an update in a few weeks, the pads are now bedded in and the level of feel and control is much better. But it depends on your riding style. I will cover this in more detail in a few weeks. Best wishes Carl
On my then new 2019 GS, there was a delay in delivering the bike to me due to faulty seals on the Hayes brakes. Interestingly my new 2022 GSA collected a couple of weeks ago, is back on Brembo brakes front and rear.
Hi Carl, and once again… a great and very informative and useful video. My GS has barely 650km and based on your video and experience, I guess I should have received a recall letter from BMW informing me about this issue. After all, it is not just a defect, it is one that has to do with the brakes! Perhaps they think that the bike will eventually come to a full stop in one way or another 😳. I know now who I will be calling first thing Monday morning… Not thrilled at the moment with how BMW apparently deals with these issues, but very thankful to you for bringing up this topic. Now at least I can get it fixed. Wonder now if I will get the Brembo or Hayes calipers. Cheers, Max
Hi Max, good morning and your very welcome. Yours might be ok, not all have this issue but its best to check and make sure. Let's us know how you get on with your dealer. Best wishes Carl
Cracking Vlog Carl. I noticed the same as you with the Brembo the Hayes dont have the same feel I do prefer the Brembo's . My bike is in for its 6500k service at the end of the month so I will see what can be done with the oil warning keeping coming on. If you want to see how the RR M Series is on top speed and performance watch sat 14th the NW200 is lived streamed form my part of the world Northern Ireland ( I will be there) they are expecting the bike to top 210mph on public roads they were doing 190mph in the wet on Thursday race. Its on the BBC full coverage all day " real road racing" Regards Robert
Hi Robert, it's on my weekend watch list. Thankyou for highlighting it so other can also tune in. I hope you have a lovely time there it must be an amazing experience 😊, fingers crossed its dry all weekend. Carl
Hi Carl, thanks for your video's and tips for taking proper care of the bike. I have a GS with spoked wheels since two weeks. Do you have a tip on how to clean those wheels without contaminating the brakes? I wonder which product and method really work and are safe to use. Thanks in advance and good luck with your channel. I'm looking foreward to your next video.
Hi Mario and welcome to the channel, yes those spoked wheels are tricky to clean, the best thing I have found so far is a toilet brush which actually does a great job, as for chemicals or cleaning agent, I try wherever possible to use basic washing up liquid in warm water, when cleaning near or close to the braking system. As this has the least effect on brakes, and normally does a very good job. Hope that helps. Carl
Very interesting, my experience of the Hayes calipers has not been good. I bought a 2019 GS Rallye and the calipers leaked from day one. Even before I got it the calipers were replaced due to leaking. To cut a long story short I rejected the bike and it was returned to BMW. Roll forward to 2021, I bought a 2022 GS Rallye again and it came with Hayes calipers. All GSA’ a from October 2021 are supplied with Brembos. I bit the bullet and changed the calipers to Brembos at my expense.
Hi Steve, hello and welcome to the channel, thank you for sharing your experience, I can imagine you were not very happy with your experience, but I presume you are now happy with Brembo's now fitted to your GS. I think BMW have hopefully learned from this 👍. Best wishes Carl
My s1000xr gen2 2020 has these Hayes calipers up to yet I haven't seen no problem yes. And I keep my fingers crossed that I don't because my warranty runs out soon
Hi Rolf, they came from a company called Resin Bike, i ordered mine from Amazon but you can also order directly from Resinbike.com. Lots of different styles and colours to choose from. I’ve looked for the exact one I use but I can’t find it, perhaps it’s sold out which sometimes happens. The nearest style is the HP version but it’s not exactly the same. Let me know which style you choose. Best wishes Carl
Hi Mike, if you have recently collected your GS new from a dealer they should have advised you of this. Most dealership have offered customers either £500 or 500€ voucher or credit on clothing or accessories BUT most owners accept the free upgrade back to LED headlight once they came back into stock. Which I understand is / has already been happening. It’s worth you calling your dealership to discuss this with them. They really should have made you aware of this at the time of order or delivery. I would highly recommend the upgraded headlight Carl
Hi Mike, welcome, yes the Hayes do perform very well indeed. It's been almost impossible for me to get a definite answer from BMW as to which brakes will be fitted to each model. It seems that it depends greatly on location / country of order. I have heard that all UK GS models will now come with Brembo's but bmw won't confirm this. Carl
Hi TW, that is crazy and not very good customer support or service. I think each dealer is different especially the independent / privately owned ones. I hope your back on the road soon with your lovely RT. Best wishes Carl
BMW has been having these problems with Hayes calipers for years at this point. As an American, I'm a bit embarrassed and happy my R1250RS came with Brembos.
Hi Paul, yes I can imagine that disappointment, I have Hayes on my mounting bike and they are great. I think that Hayes will improve and get better. The RS is also a lovely bike. Welcome to the channel. Best wishes Carl
I never understood why BMW changed from Brembo to Hayes calipers. In brake tests the Brembo's have more stopping power and more feel in the lever than the Hayes, so it is quite understandable that with problems or warrenty claims BMW falls back on Brembo, which proved themselves in the R1200 GS(Adventure) models.
Hi Ton, I think we would all agree with you... in not understanding why BMW made the change from Brembo to Hayes. While I was looking around the showroom I was surprised to see the same models fitted with different front brakes... some with B and some with H, it does not make any sense. Even the sales guys have no idea why. Welcome to the channel, best wishes Carl
@@rotoehu9266 Hayes brake systems is a subsidiary of the BMW company and Hayes calipers are initially used in the Mini constructing process, and now for the GS 1250 as well. It's just an accountancy issue. Brembo calipers are more expensive due to initially pricing and licensing. Come to think of it, my neighbor owns a mini and had to see the dealer for brake problems like fading and brake oil leakage of the... Hayes calipers.
Hi Roto, yes it is probably a partly money saving thing, but the Hayes does give a better feel for less experienced riders. Welcome to the channel. Carl
Hi Ton, I think I read last night that the Brembo group actually purchased the Hayes brakes system company in 2007 !! Which adds another twist...to the story. Carl
Hi Cris, welcome to the channel. If you are in the UK, you have good news as all GS bikes come with Brembo's. But if you live anywhere else... it's a lottery as to which ones come fitted to your GS or GSA. You could ask your dealer but unless you buy a bike they have in stock at the dealership I dont think they can help. Let me know how you get on. Carl
@@justthewayitis I have received a response back from the dealer in London, Ontario and he says all 2023 bikes come only with Brembo brakes now - no more Hayes.
I have a June 2021 1250 RT which has what I assume are the same brakes….ie BMW brand not Brembo. I notice when pulling up sharpish the bike gives out a ‘howl’ …….which I never experienced on my previous 2015 1200 RT fitted with Brembo brakes. They seem to work fine but the noise is disconcerting……any thoughts?
Hi Robert, yes its probably contamination of the pads, normally it's the front. Remove the pads and clean them and the Discs, and it should be fine. I do have episode that covers this in my Multistrada series, just go to my channel and watch the first "Brake" episode. It's a simple straight forward job and with a little time you can fix this. Best wishes Carl
Plenty of callipers (some Brembo) use a split design to no ill effect. My old T3 Cali is a one such. This is poor manufacturing and quality control. I’m staggered that they didn’t pick this up long before full scale production. I love the GS/GSA as a bike but not the build quality, some of the design and last, but not least, the service. I’ve moved to Honda for some perspective.
Hi Ian, I agree and hope that the new GS1300 / 1400 range that comes out next year will be much better. But still Honda do make very well made bikes that are fully tests before release. I had three CBR1000F bikes and all of them were great and only had one wheel bearing (front) and one battery failure between all three. Amazing reliability. Carl
Well I have two gsa's my 16 have had zero problems with it 48,000 miles. My 2021 GSA came with Brembo brakes and no problems with it either. I wonder how it seems the TH-camrs get the problem bikes one of my other motorcycles my GTL supposedly the big problem with them was they pulled left according to all the TH-camrs. Never saw that problem at all with mine. I have a Jeep Gladiator that if you look at some TH-camrs all they can do is find problems with it. So I wonder if part of the way you draw an audience is the controversy of a warranty problem with the bike
Hi Duane and welcome to the channel, I do partly agree but I for one only report what has actually happened to myself and what others have also reported from owners I know and trust. Some owners are just lucky with the bikes they get. Just look at my multistrada series and the problems I and other have experienced... but then there are owners I know that have had Zero problems. It's a funny world. Best wishes Carl
I recently subscribed and appreciate your videos. Feedback if I may, you tend to repeat what you say and I find it quite annoying. I don't need to be told the Hayes callipers are in two parts four times, honestly, once will do. Thanks.
Hi Roy, feedback is always welcome, no problem... smile. Yes sometimes I do repeat and I will try to improve. I always strive to make the next episode better than everything before it, sometimes it works out, sometimes not. Best wishes Carl
Hi, would you or anybody reading this know the Torque Values for the 3 off T40 bolts that retain both halves of the caliper together? I think I might have an issue here and wish to check the tightness. If I don't find them (Asked Hayes US - didn't want to give me them. Understand) If i don't find them, I shall probably break them apart anyway, assess (probably o rings each side) and replace with SS bolts and thinking of a torque value for these M8? bolts of 20NM
Hi, now that answer I don’t have. You don’t mention which brand Hayes or Brembo, but you could ring the manufacturer and ask them directly and ask them for the rebuild kit at the same time. If it’s leaking Hayes calipers and your bike is less than 4 years old, I would suggest ringing your local dealership as they will probably replace them under a warranty recall job. There really should be no issue as the Hayes have a well known issue. If it’s Brembo you may well have to service them yourself Best wishes Carl
@@justthewayitis Thanks Carl. Hayes Calipers. Bike new to me and out of warranty. Hayes didn't want to know. I do all my own work so will break the halves and let's see. Thanks again.
@@justthewayitis Thanks Carl. That's a great find. At the moment i have the calipers disassembled ( not split ) and replacing the o rings in the piston cavities. ( 1 compression seal and 1 fluid seal ). The seal kit is circa £35 for each caliper. I found one of the seals quite perished. Surprising as the bike as only covered 12k. Thinking about it. I will first tighen the bolts up then to 24NM to check if any have loosen ( again, don't see why but I am the 2nd owner!) Then I may decide to removed one by one and replace with the M8x25mm SS bolts bolts and tighen to 24NM. Thanks for coming back with torque setting. I did a quick search but couldn't find anything. Then the plan is to reassemble and fluid up/bleed and see where I am. Hopefully won't need to split.
This is what happens when Corporate makes a wrong decision to go for a lesser quality part for a premium brand! There was no reason for BMW to put Hayes on Premium bikes that cost over $20K USD. Good lesson to learn.
I had a new bike from BMW in 2010 and it was a nightmare from day 2. The dealer and BMW kept arguing over the problem and after a year, the dealer refunded the money. I lost all faith in BMW after many years of championing the marque. Their build quality has reduced. I owned an R80rt, R100rt, K100rt and they were incredible bikes that stood up to high mileage. Look at BMW now and they clearly have quality control issues. The usual one is the silver/grey covering on the engine and shaft drive flaking off. I've owned 77 bikes and most makes. I'd rate Victory, KTM and Honda, as the best build quality. BMW need to improve.
Hi Neil, yes I agree they need to do better. I think Honda is still one of best to own long term, over 10 years or more. You have had a lot of bikes...an amazing collection of memories I would think. Which was your favourite? Best wishes Carl
@@justthewayitis I forgot my favourite, my BMW R1100s that I did a lot of tuning work on. Close second my KTM 990, with my first big bike, a Suzuki GT250B, in third. As for the bikes I should have kept as investments 🙈🙈🙈Yamaha XS1100 Martini Hailwood replica, and a new Suzuki 1100 Katana.

The S1000rr comes with the same calipers as the M1000rr. The M sport version has the same blue calipers and the standard rr has the black Nissin calipers
Hi Steven. I called BMW, the bike I tested is fitted with Hayes. Here in Germany the S1000RR comes with both types. The only way to get Nissin is to order M spec in Blue. I asked about your location because of the following information I also received. In north America and Canada all versions S and M version come with Nissin. In the UK might be the same, he was not able to confirm this. It looks like it all depends on the country you order your bike.
Thank you. Several subscribers have bikes on order, and no one really knows which manufacturer of front brakes their bikes will arrive with. Not very good from BMW. Carl

Give them a call in the morning and describe your observations
Do let me know what they find
Regards Carl
@@justthewayitis apparently i just report it to my dealer he said due to metallic brake pads they are making contact with the rotor so thats why i hear it loud . Now at 1200 km noise is merely gone , another issue is that the circular junction on the front shock is barely leaking small amount of oil enough to wet the finger tip as i pass my finger from the circle gap 🤕
Hi Aldvex, good morning thank you for sharing your experience. Sorry to hear you have a front damper oil seal leaking I hope BMW replace this under warranty for you.

Just checked my 22 1250GS Rallye, like yours, and was surprised to see Brembo calipers. Quite happy!!
Hello Jason and welcome, if your in the UK, then all GS & GSA models come with Brembo's, for Europe it's just luck if we get them. Glad to hear you have them. 👍hope your enjoying your GS.

My 1250 GSA, ordered late September, delivered last November (2021, France), has Brembo system. Pretty happy at the time to see that after reading the Hayes problem.
Hi Michio, it seems different geographic locations get different brakes. No one has a definite list. Glad to hear your happy with your brakes. Carl
Exceptionally interesting and informative video mate, thank you!
Hello and welcome to the channel, thank you for your feedback 🙋🏻♂️, enjoy your weekend, Carl
Have you been back and measured that dark black line you left on the track in your last video ?... smile.
Have a great weekend

Had today ma first ride with my new 1250gs build 10/22 and after 100km both calipers are leaking fluid. Hope that i will get some Brembos :/
Hi Melvin and welcome to the channel, sorry to hear that it’s not a good start but BMW will sort it out. Speak to service manager only, and ask nicely for a set of Brembo calipers you might be lucky. Let me know how you get on

Hi Nigel, I think you're be safe, my dealer was surprised and like me thought it was a past issue. Just check them during the first few weeks. Carl
Another perfect explanation video! Thx Carl!
Hi Christian, good morning and thank you. Carl
Hi Jessica, thank you, glad to hear your current GSA has no problems and your happy with the performance. Enjoy the good weather, Carl
Carl
In usa, For the xr the hayes were all replaced with brembo. Did not matter if they were leaking. I think everyone else got nissin.
Hi Philip, welcome to the channel and thank you for sharing 👍
You mention the brembos seem to give more lever travel, but then again it's using new calipers & pads on the old disks, so surely it's bound to feel a bit different until fully bedded in.
Hello RM and welcome to the channel. It's a good observation but the Brembo's do have more lever travel and feel than the Hayes. I'm going to cover this in an update in a few weeks, the pads are now bedded in and the level of feel and control is much better. But it depends on your riding style. I will cover this in more detail in a few weeks.
Best wishes Carl
Glad mine come std with Brembo's back and front ..in the UK BMW had a recall for the Hayes calipers .from 2021 all UK bikes had Brembo's.
Hi Andy, glad yours are good. I thought the problem had been resolved... but it looks like it's still a problem. Best wishes Carl
I took delivery of a triple black R1250GS at the end of March, and that has Hayes calipers. Just checked and so far no evidence of leaking.🤞
That's good to hear...👍. I hope your keeping your gold wheels clean Andrew.... smile.
On my then new 2019 GS, there was a delay in delivering the bike to me due to faulty seals on the Hayes brakes. Interestingly my new 2022 GSA collected a couple of weeks ago, is back on Brembo brakes front and rear.
Are you in the uk Glenn ?
If you are that explains why, because the UK GS and GSA all come with Brembo calipers. Enjoy your new bike, Best wishes Carl
I know now who I will be calling first thing Monday morning…
Not thrilled at the moment with how BMW apparently deals with these issues, but very thankful to you for bringing up this topic. Now at least I can get it fixed. Wonder now if I will get the Brembo or Hayes calipers.
Cheers, Max

Cracking Vlog Carl. I noticed the same as you with the Brembo the Hayes dont have the same feel I do prefer the Brembo's . My bike is in for its 6500k service at the end of the month so I will see what can be done with the oil warning keeping coming on.

Carl
@@justthewayitis thans you for the Quick response.

My 2022 GS did not come with the led headlights. I read somewhere that when they become available they will change them out. Any idea?
Hi Mike, if you have recently collected your GS new from a dealer they should have advised you of this. Most dealership have offered customers either £500 or 500€ voucher or credit on clothing or accessories BUT most owners accept the free upgrade back to LED headlight once they came back into stock. Which I understand is / has already been happening.
It’s worth you calling your dealership to discuss this with them. They really should have made you aware of this at the time of order or delivery.
I would highly recommend the upgraded headlight

I believe Brembo's are turning up again on BMW bikes. I've never had a problem on my Hayes GS1250 (2019)
Carl
@@justthewayitisYes... Lots of BMW in my local showrooms (Uk) now with Brembo's

Surely it isn’t a mystery, BMW saving money - why would you assume otherwise?
Carl
I'd like to know whether it is possible to order a new bike with Brembo front brakes.

It's a simple straight forward job and with a little time you can fix this. was the calipers on your test bike in two halves
Hi Colm, from new the bike had Hayes, which are manufactured in two parts. Currently it has Brembo which is made from one part. Carl
If it’s Brembo you may well have to service them yourself
Best wishes Carl

Thanks Carl. Hayes Calipers. Bike new to me and out of warranty. Hayes didn't want to know. I do all my own work so will break the halves and let's see. Thanks again.
Ok, good luck 🤞
M8 x 25mm are 24nm from what I can see, Carl
@@justthewayitis
Thanks Carl.
Hi Becker, let's hope they do learn the lesson and future bikes have top tier parts on them. I hope they get it right with the next version. Carl
