8:03 "Only own two motorcycles" Ian, do you offer counseling to those of us who cant stop adding motorcycles to the fleet? I can't wrap my mind around it...but sooooo want to embrace it!
I have a 2022 standard gs. I've seen and ridden the new iteration (1300) and came away with two things. The visual appearance was just off. The ride comfort was notably stiffer. The miniscule performance gains are not important to me and the shell game played to decrease the weight of the new bike were a real stretch. Who is going to own an adventure bike with no Center stand. Seriously. Your change of heart an ultimate choice of a 2024 gsa was very smart. Good for you. Enjoy and be safe.
I also have the 1250 GSA, it's such am awesome bike for covering big miles in comfort. I've done 30,000 miles on mine and it's just starting to feel run in. You made a great choice buying one
I agree with you on purchasing the 1250 adventure. I bought one in July because I was offered a great deal and I didn't like the looks of the 1300 gsa. I did back to back rides, first on the 1300 gs and then I jumped on the 1250 adventure and knew immediately the 1250 gsa fit me better and I was more comfortable on it. I enjoy your videos and keep doing what you are doing!

Happy to hear about your reasoning; I just bought my very first 1250 GSA. The discounts and low interest rates made the difference for me to close the deal.
After looking at the R1250GS and R1300GS, I reserved an incoming R1300GS. Your videos convinced me to do that, especially all the cutting-edge, innovative electronics and many improvements over the R1250GS. Yes, it's more expensive, but having the latest upgrades is worth it to me. My new bike will have ASA, which seems like a game-changer. I look forward to your video on that system.
Great video, Ian. I suppose I'm biased, as I own a 2021 GSA, but I'm delighted to see you get another GSA. Your videos certainly were part of my inspiration for getting my GSA, so thanks for that. Mine has been totally reliable and a joy to own. I look forward to your upcoming videos about the accessories you've put on yours. Happy riding! Cheers, Jeff
Hey Ian-Nice job with your purchase of the R1250GS. And, BMW will cover your driveshaft maintenance for the life of the bike. Seriously, what a bonus. I feel that way as I own a 2020 RT
The 1250 is one of the very few BMs that I'd even consider buying. Can't take to the 1300 at all. I'm afraid it's Japanese all the way for me as I couldn't deal with reliability anxiety.
Hi Ian, love your channel and the way you approach the content you put out. Enjoy the new purchase and I look forward to seeing more in 2025. Regardless of looks, I think the 1300 GSA is a great product as well. Merry Christmas to you and your family.
Thanks for the video. I've been eyeing used R1250GS/A. The used prices are getting pretty competitive and from the looks of it a lot of people hardly rode their GS's.
I have a 2022 R1250gs Triple Black. I love it and will probably keep it for ever. Heck, I just bought all the tools I need to do valves! It covers pretty much all the riding i like to do. For fun stuff I use my cb500x, not so much because the gs couldn't do it but more because the cb500x is a lot cheaper to fix when I make a mistake.
I was waiting for 1300gsa. Main expecations were reduced weight and lower fuel consumption. Once it has been revealed, it appeared that 1300 is even 1kg heavier and a bit more fuel thirsty. So the 1250gas with reduced price was my choice.
Honestly I think the GS range peaked with the 1200 Rallye. That thing ripped and was shockingly good offroad. Also I bailed on ADVRider about two years ago and have no regrets. Place is a spiraling dumpster fire.
I have gotten numerous compliments on the nice looks on my GSA 1250 from non riders as well as other riders and so has my brother on his 1200gsa and his new 2024 gsa we think bmw lost it on the change in looks of the 2025's
I just bought one of the last 2024 t7 available, knowing everything about the new 2025 model and that I could of got one for a similar price. Sometimes you just know what you want and what you dont, no need for the brand new thing
Ian Im right there with you brother. I’ve looked at the money off and the special interest rates on the 1250’s for the last month or so and it’s taking all I can do to not go trade in my R1200gsa for one.
Hey Ian, love your videos, watch almost every one. Can't wait for some adventure riding content on this 1250 GSA. Would also love to see a comparison to the 1300 GSA. I'm very interested in a 1300GS ASA to replace my 2018 1200 GS. I like the idea of super smooth shifts, and the touring comfort an automated gear box would provide. Keep up the great work!
I want to see new stuff. Have seen the 1250 already. If you are on the 1250 instead of a new demo bike, it is just a record that keeps skipping back. But, if you like the 1250, have fun on it!
After installing the Akrapovic headerwith flap on stock muffler I have no desire to replace my 1250 👍 I am slightly disappointed with the common driveshaft issues but this isnt a Kawasaki Concours and the warranty extension covers any concerns I have. I have not tuned my bike for this reason.
Honest question: With this being you job and the sheer amount of bikes you have to ride for content…..why buy a bike at all? I mean, you won’t be without wheels. At a 8k USD difference my choice is simple but I’m the guy on a used Vstrom 1050 which costs about the price difference 🙂 Hope the bike treats you well, keep the videos coming.
Happy Christmas Ian. I think you made the right choice there in getting the 1250 the 1300 is as ugly as my sister and that’s saying something the tide wouldn’t take her out. I have to super tenere 1200 which I like a lot and is reliable. I would however buy a BMW 1250 again.
@@BigRockMoto Ian, Merry Christmas is inclusive. Happy holidays is not. Merry Christmas is about wishing joy, love, peace and happiness to our fellow humans. It's not about trying to convert anyone to Christianity. Honestly, it's gotten to the point where maybe it's better to just not say anything then. If that's your perspective…fine. But if being inclusive is your goal, I'll look forward to you mentioning Diwali, Hajj, Ramadan and Eid ul-Fitr to name just a few. Yes, it's a big world and the internet is world wide, but you are clearly based in North America Ian. Ask any of your non Christian friends….I would be shocked if any of them would tell you that they are offended by "Merry Christmas". The only snow flakes we should concern ourselves with are the ones falling from the sky. Don't let the tail wag the dog.
At a recent club meeting I saw a 1300 for the first time. It was among a load of 1200’s and 1250’s. I was struck how underwhelming the 1300 product is in comparison with the previous models. It probably rides much better but boy does it look cheap. It’s clearly lost something. I won’t be buying a 1300.
Tractive Suspension from Ted Porter? Why yes please. Looking forward to the review. BTW, I have been riding since 1970. Likely longer than you have been alive. During that time I have owned at least 29 different bikes. Raced in amateur class for a season, Iron butt stuff etc etc. While I did like the R1250GS Adventure.... FWIW & YMMV.... I can go on most of the same roads on my 2014 R1200R. It is much easier to pick up and deal with on sketchy roads. BTW, what ya gunna do if KTM goes away?
I sold my 1250 GSA this year after 20 years of riding GS’s. It just got boring and every model just got increasingly bigger and heavier and off roading was no longer enjoyable but a stress.
✔Two features I truly miss about the 1300: adaptive ride height, and the electric windshield. If I can ever get used to the styling of the new R1300GS Adventure, I'll get one with adaptive ride height and the Enduro package. Also, I think I prefer the larger fuel tanks and better wind protection on the adventure models versus the standard GS's.

I want to see new stuff. Have seen the 1250 already. If you are on the 1250 instead of a new demo bike, it is just a record that keeps skipping back. But, if you like the 1250, have fun on it!
I will be testing all new models like always
And compared to the GS1300 BMW will pay for the driveshaft maintenance every 36500 miles.
Not on a 2024 model. 2023 models and earlier, only.
@@feloniousmonk3049 Wait, the free drive shaft maintenance is not on all 1250s, only up to 2023?
GS is not in my wish list, but I would definitely choose 1250 over 1300.
Blind folded take down and rebuild of the entire bike.
Sound reasons for your choice
Motorcycle looks fantastc!
Thanks! It's a great bike!
After installing the Akrapovic headerwith flap on stock muffler I have no desire to replace my 1250 👍
I am slightly disappointed with the common driveshaft issues but this isnt a Kawasaki Concours and the warranty extension covers any concerns I have. I have not tuned my bike for this reason.
A great deal is a great deal even if it is a GS
Honest question:
With this being you job and the sheer amount of bikes you have to ride for content…..why buy a bike at all? I mean, you won’t be without wheels. At a 8k USD difference my choice is simple but I’m the guy on a used Vstrom 1050 which costs about the price difference 🙂
Hope the bike treats you well, keep the videos coming.
Just say Merry Christmas, no explanations needed.
It's Christmas. Merry Christmas or Happy Christmas. Please, not happy holidays.
It's just that out of 7 billion people in the world, only 2 billion celebrate Christmas. So, less than a third. I like to be inclusive.
Ian thanks for another great video, and massive boo for the idiot who insulted you
Smart move. I have a 2022 GSA and I refuse to buy the new 1300. Thanks but no thanks 😂
What about the AT ?
I sold my 1250 GSA this year after 20 years of riding GS’s. It just got boring and every model just got increasingly bigger and heavier and off roading was no longer enjoyable but a stress.
Why not the 1200 Tiger? They can be had for a lot less and I recall you liking it, except for the airbox.
Because GS
Merry Krampus!
why not the ducati multi v4 rally?
Engine heat
You believe is it a factor not to own the multi? (If we say that everything that you said, money and other, are said aside)
Im just hoping youll review that 450gs coming out
It's on the list!
Would you have considered the KTM 790 to pair with the 350? Would it give you more off road options for the bigger bike ?
I don't like the 790/890 for touring
Dear Ian are you trying to convince ma to get 1250 GSA i thought you loved the KTM1290 R
good one
I'm glad that i didn't sold my GSA1250
Best BMW design ever ❤
Hmmmmmm, Nice boat anchor....
1250 is the kind and 1300 is the clown
All that said. 100% agree! This is, the styling many love. Congrats. Wise move. BTW. Are the aux LED’s Denali D7’s?

Thank you.
Have you spoken about those yet?
