    Perfect in its simplicity. I didn't know about AO technique, and now I'm like "that's what I was looking for all the time!"
    Thank you

      i actually got the idea thanks to Substance, cause thats how they do it. First i baked AO and then was like: wait a minute, the AO Node should work.

    I prefer using texture coordinates(generated) -> mix RGB with noise texture with high roughness and detail -> separate xyz -> plug z in color ramp to adjust -> in mix shader as a factor.

    Thanks. I changed the linear on the color ramp to b-slime, it makes the results more realistic if your going for a dust texture

  • @samuelmoser
    @samuelmoser 3 ปีที่แล้ว +6

    Thanks for the informative video. I was looking for an easy way of creating such imperfections. I will apply that technique to all hard surface models I will make in the future.
    And pro tip: If you want to make it even more realistic. Use a surface imperfection map. Or better said a alpha map or roughness map. And apply it only to the "dirt" layer. Now your artwork looks even more realistic.

    how to break up the black and white gradient with a noise texture. I just get weird rings or lines
    what i want is a gradient so the dirt is near the bottom of the car, but 'not' a smooth gradient of dirt to silver paint
    EDIT, its ok I combined it with a gradient texture with a mix, works fine

    • @DamianMathew
      @DamianMathew  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I could, but it’s one of the main fundings of this channel. I’m not a fan of keeping secrets but at the moment it’s kind of necessary since I’m reinvesting all income. For example I’m also funding blender with TH-cam money so if no one would do what I’m doing, blender would not be where it is today. ‘Free’ doesn’t really exist. Free only works if people support it with money - as sad as it sounds.
      Once this channel grows and I’m less dependent on one assets income, I will make a video about it. 0€ of TH-cam went into my pocket and this channel made a few thousand. All reinvested into blender related things as well as viewers like you that needed financial support.

      I don't think his mustang is "on" the hdr.
      It seems to me that he's actually made the terrain the car is on similar to the hdr environment and made it appear seam less by raising the surroundings.

      @DamianMathew  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@theturtle9810 price is always relative. If you buy it and render, someone sees it, and you get a 10k€ project. I’d call 20$ pretty cheap haha.
      Also im not saying you can’t make it yourself. Basically you are buying my time but you could also use yours. If it takes too long to make it yourself, once again you see maybe 20$ isn’t that much if you value your time.
      And last but not least haha this money doesn’t go into my pocket. I’m reinvesting every cent in things like blender fund and directly to people like you. Ofcourse not everyone will profit but I’m trying my best to support the ones that deserve it most.
