This is BCPA9 or BCPA9RC made by Boss Audio but there is a similar model made by Planet Audio (P90CPA), it’s basically the same device. This model was designed mainly for Apple CarPlay and Android Auto and for that reason doesn’t have a lot of features. - ยานยนต์และพาหนะ

I just bought this POS branded as a “Sound Storm” for $235.99 from Wal Mart, it’s going in my motorhome which I don’t drive every day. Primarily used for the reverse camera, and Spotify. I am concerned about the brightness of it as it seems like a popular gripe.

Ok you are off with the cons list, you CAN upload your wallpapers and it’s not easy for theft. Cuz that’s the whole point the head unit was made separately, it was made for the screen to pop in and out so that you can take it out when you don’t want it stolen.
I was about to say, pretty sure you CAN update the wallpaper. And the screen comes off for a reason, but who would want to steal just the screen?

Anybody else having trouble with Android Auto not staying connected on their Boss? I have the BCPA9, and the USB Apple CarPlay connection works great with my kids' phones, but any Android phone I try to use Android Auto with keeps losing connection any time the cable is jostled near where it connects to the Boss cable. Could someone try plugging an Android phone into their Boss BCPA9 and see if you have the same problem? Just trying to figure out if mine has an issue, or it's just a flaw built into the Boss. Thanks!
When you start your vehicle does it connect to CarPlay automatically through Bluetooth?
It’s wired Apple CarPlay. Have to run a cable from the usb on the back of the unit

How do you make the camera pop up when you put the car into reverse???
You have to wire the reverse wire to the backup lights or to the shifter.
Its stupid how easy it is you can use butt connectors or solder. If you want the camera on all the time to see out the back you have to hook the power wire on the camera to a constant power source. The backup wire power light only has power when in Reverse. Some cameras have lights on them and will stay constantly on if you hook it up to constant power.
What are the dimensions of the screen unit? I need to know the X by Y to see if it will fit in my car.

In which circumstances you pressing the mic button? If you using Apple CarPlay or Android Auto you might have to press and hold till the voice assist comes up.
Does a steering wheel control module can be used in this stereo??

how come you can put your own wallpaper on the bcpa10 but not the bcpa9 ?
I haven’t seen any option in it’s menu that would allow a different wallpaper other than the preinstalled ones.
You can download your own wallpapers, please read the instructions. Watching other videos confirms this. The head unit itself is not any different between the 9 and 10.

OK so I've had some time to play with this thing and it's Pretty Good! My Model# is BE9ACP even though it looks exactly like this one. The Screen is a Great Size and Yes it is Bright but it makes My 2011 GMC ACADIA look totally different. I'm using Android Auto with it and it works fine. I'm kind of Upset I can't use my iPod with it because I have a shit load of music on it but that's one of the Sacrafices with this Radio. Also the Sound is Pretty Good it doesn't push out the sound my Factory Head Unit was doing with my Factory Bose Speakers but it packs a Lil Punch. You have to play with the EQ and turn the Volumes up on each input separately threw the Settings. I also didn't have to buy the Back Up Camera The Best Buy Tech was able to wire it to my factory camera. I'm still tryna figure out the AV IN and how that works with showing Videos. So Overall for the Price you can't go wrong getting this unit in my opinion.
Quick question. When you put the car in reverse does the backup camera automatically come up
@@mikey9836 Yes it does. There's a setting on the radio that let's you have a Delay on it.
QQ: is there a way to integrate a security dash cam or utilize the front camera option or splitter adapter for a inside/cabin camera and mic for “parking surveillance”? If not do you have any suggestions to protect my investment inside the cabin?
Forgot to add to here. I went to my appointment at Best Buy and they denied trying to install the boss speaker. They no longer install Boss speakers because it failed after like 2 weeks for 3 cars. For anyone reading this and you bought a Boss radio from Owasso O.K that perfectly fine but they will not install it for you

Most likely not. And the stock unit in your LE is going to be worlds better than this unit, anyways. I had a 2020 SE and the stock unit was fine minus the fact that there was no Android Auto.

I know this is 4 months out, But I'm waiting on mines to install in my 15 Silverado. Hopefully it pans out well! I seen a few in a Chevy group and they looked pretty decent. Time to ditch that 4" factory

I had a cheaper than this unit by Jensen and sounded way better.
And sorry to say it’s not about personal preference, it’s about what your ears are used to listen to!
Can I get access to my xm radio with this unit?
Via the app which I can personally confirm as functional only on Android. My stepson has a "other" leading brand handset and I would assume I would have heard gripes by now but I think he uses Spotify so the latter half of my advice is assumed hearsay and of no real value.

Unfortunately not, for just $299 ...
Apple CarPlay doesn’t come wireless. It requires the iPhone being connected to your audio head with a cord.

How does the GPS work? Does it use cell phone towers or Satellites? I'm looking for a GPS that is not tied to your phone.
It uses both cell towers and satellites. Unfortunately you won’t be able to retrofit a gps module to this unit.
@@iSimplifiedTech GPS signals come from satellites, not cellular towers. Smartphones receive cell signals from cell towers, and GPS signals from satellites. These Boss stereos do not use their own GPS receiver, they rely on the one in your smartphone, and make the phone do the navigating function, and then display it on the stereo's screen.
You have screen vulnerable towards theft. But the screens removable. So if one uses common sense and removes the screen when parking the car. No one will have anything to steal.

Shit, I was about to purchase this but I saw how it boots up. Imagine you have to see that logo every time you start the car, imagine you have to wait 12 seconds before backing up. Imagine pushing that Agree button every time. Is this a Joke????
You turn off AGREE in the EULA menu item he showed you. Most of these will pipe the rear cam video thru even when they are booting, so you are not looking at the logo, you are looking at your rear cam video because you are backing.
It’s garbage, don’t buy it, seriously.
I bought mine less than a week ago… the audio this thing generates is trash, the menu is way too bright for night time, the wallpaper option doesn’t do anything and you can’t add your own.
The Bluetooth doesn’t start receiving audio but you have to actually press STREAMING to start listening. The unit doesn’t really turn off even if you think you have, sometimes it just keeps coming back, it’s buggy and the volume button is in a bad location. I regret my purchase so much. Honest.

@@brandonpattersonfcdcxdsw4779 it’s all personal preference. i’ve had mine for about a week and so far so good. if audio is bad it’s possible that the speakers in the car are bad. audio in mine is more than perfect. only con that i agree with is the brightness being to bright. if you’re interested in buying i suggest getting a shaded wrap to place over screen
@@DP0894 I actually did decide to get it. Install is scheduled for Sat so I'll see how it goes. My Speakers are Factory Bose Speakers and sound Great so I'm Hoping I get that same sound or Damn Near Close.

Man, Android auto / Apple carplay is stupid if it's not wireless. I don't want to potentially wear out my charging port to connect to the fkn car every time. I love BT connections cause I start the car and the thing just connects and I have it so Spotify opens when connected to BT audio devices. I like the idea of having a larger touch screen for maps but it's just too inconvenient and causes more wear on the phone to plug it in every time. Guess I'll just be cheap and go with a cheap single-din, not worth it. -_-

Try resetting both the iPhone and the unit, it should be 100% compatible across all Apple iPhones.
