I've gone through a couple of these over the years. Definitely a must. The only advice I can offer is; Make sure you get one with plenty of space between the head unit, and screen. The bigger screens will hit the bezel if you tilt them in your direction to see better. My new has screen rotation, so I can switch orientations. Gives more clearance, but covers the a/c controls 😑 Great video! Wish this kind of content was available years ago. It's always harder when you have to figure it out yourself 😅
With the crazy prices of new trucks (between 60 and 100K) today, it's better to outfit an older truck that's in great shape. I am updating my pristine 2004 Super cab 4x4 F150 with low miles to have all the bells and whistles of a new truck. Total expense will be under 6k. Well worth it.
I’ve had two and i sold both there’s something missing with reliability and technology. It’s great but never consistent. Old trucks just work and cheap to fix you don’t need flash or update anything if it gets replaced and I had hard time justifying an 800 dollar tail light for my F150 and Ranger in case something happened lol the prices on those parts is insane

Thanks for posting this. I've been scheming up a similar idea for my 2001 Chev Silverado 4WD Supercab. Don't know if it was offered in the U.S. but in western Canada they had the "Z 71 HD" package with better seats, nice interior & electronics and a good factory trailer package. The o/o was an audio fiend, and he'd installed a high-end Boss sound system just before I bought it. With luck, there will be a big screen head unit available for that, since it's pretty recent. The dash layout is similar to yours, and there's really no way to go the "double DIN" route. Just to make it interesting, I also have a ham radio setup on a Ram-type mount. What I'd really like is a higher, larger screen for GPS and the digital video from the wireless rear & side cameras. Those are a real game-changer & I'd like to integrate them so everything could use the one big screen. Having the screen sitting high, as your setup is, looks useful. The Silverado's layout is a lot like you have in the Ford. The wireless back/side cameras setup makes life a lot simpler. No fishing multiple cable sets, and the digital video signal is interference free. Anyway, thanks for showing this - it looks good, and has given me some good ideas.

My apologies but I would rather not pull my radio back out of my dash. Do you have the same truck as me? If so when you buy the harness it has a color list on the back that says the color of wire and what it does. Then you match that wire function to the wire that is labeled on the radio.
