@@Septimus_ii The counter only works if you can put planes in the air. With a suficient bomber force however you can destroy every airfield in range within a few days, which means no fighters to shoot down bombers anyway.

The obvious counter. Is already having fighters in the air. And shit tons off aa. If it's 1942 or later you should already have fighters assigned everywhere. If they suddenly concentrate on one spot, you shift to that spot. You should never be in a postion to get nuked or bombed. Obviously the allies have air advantage it's minimum of 3 large air forces vs Germany. Most people fuck up as Germany by not allocating enough resources to air, and than wasting their air units in early offenses. Personally i d ont send a single plane over England, channel, or past Moscow until the Soviet surrender. Than I have a massive airforce to strike all at once against England.
That’s how the allies kinda won the war though. On top of horsey boys being ineffective and a ton of other things but I am sure the USAF was pretty proud of daylight infrastructure bombings
yeah, this might be funny but at the same time this is why Hitler lost the Battle of Britain. But he kinda hoped that Churchill would surrender, he didn't want to occupy UK, just have peace out with French teritories under his rule to rush Moscow and the rest of USSR
2:30 I disagree about the targets, I believe the your first target should always be the runways, as to diminish their air superiority so then you can do damage to the rest.

I can easily explain why Strat bombing is not liked in multiplayer: 1: You can bomb the capital infratructur and completly destroy supply lines. This is because of how the supply system in HOI4 works. And this is a bad simulation of reality. You do not ship all supplies from your capital. Your industry is all over the whole country. The supplys go from there to several army depots and are distributed. 2.: Strat bombers are ridicolous overpowered regarding their air figthing abilities, as you stated yourself. During WW2 especially the americans had the opinion that you can make a big bomber invulnerable to figthers by putting enough guns on it. They did that in the B17 and called them flying fortesses. Then they used them against germany without figther escorts. Guess what happend: It took the german figther pilots a couple of minutes to find the weak spot of the B17 and they got absolutley slaugthered. That was the reason the P51 Mustang long range figther was developed and the british attacked at night. 3. Also strat bombing is by far to effectiv in the game. In WW2 both side swarmed each other with bombers, but the americans took it to a complete new level. Never the less the impact on the figthing ability was by far not as big as expected. The theory that it is possible to beat an enemy country into submission from air was also proven wrong. At least not without nuclear weapons or guides weapons. I like HOI4 because it is as close to reality as it gets with strategic games rigth now. Paradox put in a lot of effort to make thing close to real history. They boast with that fact. Of course this is still a game and not real but they did a pretty good job except the fleet combat system and the three issues above. So 75% of the major flaws are related to strat bombing. And that is my reason not to want strat bombing in a multiplayer game. Fazit: It can be countered but it just take the fun out of the game in the way it is implemented because it is completly overpowered caused by flaws in game simulation and stats. I mean look at your solution. You suggest to supply entire armies by planes? Of course in game it works. But that sounds like something Herman Göring came up with. Didn't worked out very well. Ask the german 6th army about it.
4rd and most importent thing about strat bombing is, the teleporting airplains. When Germany etablish air superioity in netherlands and in the chanel, how could bombers behehinde the line? This is ridicoulus
Just my nazi historical accuracy side here, Göring never came up with the idea to supply the 6th army. It was a Jeschonnek, when asked by Hitler if he thought such an airlift was possible, who said yes AT FIRST (but was then told by other people at the luftwaffe that no, this is not possible). He then tried to dissaude Hitler but his mind was already set, and only two days later Goring arrived (he was at an oil conference when this was discussed) and he had no choice but to say yes or face Hitler's wrath. He never came with it nor did he persuade Hitler that it was possible.
Richard Overy, in Why the Allies Won: "At the end of January 1945 Albert Speer and his ministerial colleagues met in Berlin to sum up what bombing had done to production schedules for 1944. They found that Germany had produced 35 percent fewer tanks than planned, 31 percent fewer aircraft and 42 percent fewer lorries as a result of bombing. The denial of these huge resources to German forces in 1944 fatally weakened their response to bombing and invasion and eased the path of Allied armies." Other figures show that the shortfall for that year in tanks was around 9,500 and in aircraft nearly 18,000. Two million men were involved in anti-aircraft defence, civil defence and bomb damage clearance and repair. Tens of thousands of anti-aircraft guns were deployed along with millions of rounds of specialised ammunition, and aircraft production was skewed 3:1 toward fighters. Making the anti-aircraft guns reduced the numbers of field artillery pieces and ammunition for western and eastern fronts; cutting down on bombers reduced the support available to front-line German soldiers directly and also indirectly in airfreighted supplies.
Personally i like to go about a Strat Bombing campaign in stages... Stage one is focussing on State-AA, Infra, and the runways. This way you cripple their capabilities in fighting back, and once ou succeeded with this, you already basicly won, and can switch over to stage two, in wich you can either go after milfacs or docks respectively depending on whats more important. Civillian factories i want to keep undamaged as much as possible, i know this means i have to bomb more than the enemy can repair, but the more civillian factories are unharmed, the quicker i can build up damaged states and use them once i set foot.
There’s an issue with the transport plane abuse, each plane needs Command power to do supply missions. There would be a limit to how many supplies you can drop as not only is Command Power capped at 100, the Command Power doesn’t replenish during supply drops.
That's odd, somebody I saw playing USA in the multiplayer match did it and the German troops were starving compared to his tank divisions were just steamrolling right past them
Dustinl796 Videos the bomber part works yes, however there is a limit of I think 333 transport planes that can do supply missions. Maybe this is a Waking the Tiger issue unless you did this in Waking the Tiger
@@jefferyallen5030 This is Paradox we are talking about, that's too logical, and FREE. Maybe after 3 more years they will implement it for another 30 euros
note that fighters also have agility and after the wake of the tiger Strat bombers can easily be disrupted by fighters (while not all of them). 1000 fighters should be able to disrupt 70~80% of 1000 strat bombers of the same level without modifications and killing 1~5 a day. If you can build static AA it would go even higher. Of course, this changes when they have escort fighters, so make sure your fighters are on interception when taking on bombers. Just a side note, heavy fighters and rocket interceptors are way more efficient at taking down strat bombers with their speed and attack, and would not have to engage escort fighters when put on interception.
Also, I've never played a MP game of HoI4, but I imagine the reason it is banned is because if you haven't built up a critical mass of heavy fighters, when the strat bombers come, it is too little, too late. I mean, it seems like in the video you took Germany out of the picture in a matter of days.
This video is excellent and translates to the history of WW II in that one of the main reasons for the Allied victory in Europe was the utter devastation of Germany's ability to wage war due to around the clock bombing. I think this videos shows that and is therefore a viable strategy. I don't think it should be banned from some servers. It is the way it was. Become innovative and come up with ways to slow down or stop it. Maybe massed AA, heavy fighters, dispersed industry? Also, can fighters in regions located between the strat bombers base of origin and their target harass the bombers ALL the way to and from the target? Love the video. Got me thinking strategically and I like it.
The thing is... it is not. Like truly. There is a book "Castles, Battles, Bombs" and one of its chapters is fully designated to analysis of efficiency of strategic bombardments that were ongoing from 1940 all the way to 1945. Just to give you a taste of it - one of the main goals for bombers were factories producing fighter planes. German production of fighters reached its peak in January 45. So, no, bombers did not break german war economy. Just like german bombs did not break british economy in 1940.
While learning about how to subdue someone with Strategic bombing is a nice thing, what is the counter to it? Yes Heavy fighters I nice but regardless of fighter type, the issue is either having or not having the air superiority needed in a given region present followed by maintained air superiority as the regions for strategic bombing shift/intensify/etc. In particular, if say an AI player did this how does one prevent this as an AI player will just constantly shift the air zones. If playing in a game with a friend continuously pausing a game would not be viable and regardless of who is playing it will just become annoyingly tedious. An out of the box thought I had would be to assign an army to be the defensive forces for the Nation. I forget if using AA battalions or support companies helped against defensive air missions where the Division is not in direct combat (close air support) so this may need a further look here. Additionally, building AA in every region may take more time than one is willing to spend on building infrastructure, factories, or other types of structures needed for the direct war effort. However, the outside the box thought I had would be to use this National Army as a defense force guarding all the cities, airfields, and if needed, specific bunkers ( used to mark additional coverage points). Then attach your fighters and heavy fighters to the division and set them to Interception and/or Air Superiority Missions. The hope: Similarly to how this works with line armies, they will be at the forefront of the action and shift as the needs shift. This might not be the case however since when I was playing HoI4 a while ago it seemed that formations normally shifted as advancing forces needed it and if/when movement would mean they could achieve the mission with better efficiency in a given region. Even if this doesn't work, it would be interesting to see if at the very least it would allow decent coverage since now, all one would need to do (in theory) is dump planes into the attached air wing pool instead of assigning planes to specific regions. If this at the very least were to occur, it might be worth it since now no matter where the AI places planes there will be defensive air wings. As such this would mean that now players would be the real concern. Anyways, just a thought.
I believe that is the case as well, but it has been quite some time since I last played HoI4 and I really didn't feel like putting effort into the verification effort. It would have been more like an added bonus if they were somewhat able to do that. Plus it would probably be broken if that were the case. I just wanted to make sure I covered as many points as I could from what I remembered.
Heavy fighters work well, and the range means that you aren't as hindered by losing airfields, but you still have the problem of trying to find where the bombers switch to, and most players don't have heavy fighters around when things start. Regular fighters also trade fine when you factor in the you can build 5 fighters for the price of 2 bombers, but it's much more vulnerable
there is a reason why heavy fighters are the most underused air asset in the game. They are painful to research and, especially in the early game, they are diverting industrial capacity from more needed weapons platforms. Also their agility and speed being sub par, their use is really limited to dropping strat bombers... The counter being: have more fighters than a biblical locust swarm and static AA
yes. I like it being "difficult". But I also like taking advantage of strong points. Being a mostly fascist player I need a metric ton of fighters in the early/mid game. Dedicating a production line to heavy fighters could be detrimental. Not only that. I can forget researching planes until 1940.
I only bought the game a week ago and have been watching tutorial vids since...Strat Bombing the Capital...wow, it seems soooo basic, but also like "wow, that's super clever!"
very very new to Heat of iron 4, every time encounter a trouble, tried to find guide/help from youtube, and mostly ended up in your video. I must say your guide are very effective, but at the same time, it lead me to encounter more problem, kinda just finally able to invade several minor country well and secure enough supplies and stuff. tried to sea invade UK, but due to bad logistic i can get from sea route, my 25 division invasion forces got encircled and annihilated due to lack of supplies. still got a lot to learn.. just a question, does multiplayer welcome newbies? owo been playing single player again and again and again, but keep losing every time, wanna try multiplayer to see if i can learn something else more
I know I already said this and I'm not spamming, but I would love to see a video on tank Destroyers, self-propelled artillery, and self-propelled anti-air.
I do have that planned however currently I'm going through hurricane Florence and don't know when I'm going to be able to do it I have it written down low and have part of it recorded
Tactical bombers are a lot weaker than strap bombers so if you're going up against someone who has air superiority or a they're going to get ripped apart, however they are a lot cheaper to produce and work amazing as Cass and Naval targeting. They're great for all the bombing and attacks except for strategic bombing. But in multiplayer lobbies since they banned the use of strategic bombers most people ignore making interceptors, if you get enough air experience early on an upgrade the armor on the aircraft to be maxed out you basically have a weaker strategic bomber
I'm not sure about targeting infra. I specifically didn't target infra and ports on my last game, but they were still heavily damaged. So heavily damaged in fact that when I finally invaded it was awfully hard to keep my troops supplied. The port in Normandy was apparently so heavily damaged that I couldn't get any supply though it. I had to tag to AI France and move fixing that port up to the top of the queue.
That is a good point which is why you should only really bomb the infrastructure in a capital, the way it works is whatever the output of the capital is it follows a trade route and is either increased or limited based on the infrastructure in the capital alone
When researching the “Strategic Destruction” Air Doctrine to strengthen my Strategic Bombers do you suggest I research “Night Bombing” and “Massed Bomber Formations” or “Day Bombing” and “Fighter Escorts”?
Nothing in the game is massively op. It's just people don't like to diversify. Most people don't like building forts, aa, heavy tanks (I've never done it). And most players try and build a massive army. But have a shit airforce. If you have atleast 5 factories on fighter, and 5 on tacticles day one. And within a year throw another 5 on strat. Wait until your finish of the Soviets. And than hurl your entire airforce at the sea zones around England (just keep saving up strats), and the checkpoints between Africa and and Latin America and south Africa if possible. While switching all production to air. Wait a year and the British won't have a navy. Than reassign everything to English mainland you will ground the British in weeks, have no navy to contest. And can walk in at leisure. The game is made to be harder as axis. You have less resources, smaller army and airforce. And your only advantage is a few years of better production. The best bet is to just not waste your airforce on the allies at all until you have Soviet surrender. You can lose thousands of aircraft over England in weeks. Make them lose thousands over France first. Force them to leave the safety of their radar and aa to protect their convoys.
Same with radars. Radar, AA and some rather small amount of heavy fighters on intercept do solve the strat bomber issue rather easily. BTW heavy tanks make Japan game so much easier because you got shitload of chromium laying around.
Great video! However, my main complaints would be that this does not necessarily represent Strategic bombing as how it truly goes down in-game. For example: The year is 1936. Much like the infamous light tank video, this seemingly OP strategy can be alternatively explained by a variety of other factors, be it no dispersed industry research, Static AA emplacements, and lack of any sizeable Air Force to actually protect against the enemy planes. Going further, I’d say that strat bombers are actually UNDERPOWERED for what they do. Always placing 100% of my air production into light fighters, going for dispersed industry, and actively trying to keep up with my enemies’ industrial capacity, I have never let myself fall into a situation where I’m on the back foot, and my air force has been demolished, since remember: all the factories that the enemy puts into bombers, I can simply put into even more fighters, meaning that I will always have enough to guarantee my buildings’ safety, along with providing a nice air superiority boost for my troops on the ground as well. TLDR: In an environment where your production capacity is limited, diverting it away from fighters, of which the more you have, the better your are off, is a risky and precarious move. Otherwise, I enjoyed watching this tutorial!
Actually aiming is not in vanilla. But when bombing, switch targets regularly so that enemy interceptors can't catch up with you. Then again I've never actually strat bombed anyone because I don't want my occupation industry taken away.
aside from who you said australia, russia, and maybe canada. minors are good air controllers with strat bombers sense they arent doing that much and sometimes can swap bombers to areas where germany or whoever isnt really watching
As France I was trying to bomb Italy's forts in the Alps to make way for an invasion. I had about 200-300 strategic bombers and I made the prioritize forts but they were barely being damaged. How many strategic bombers do I need to be effective?
If only players actually cared to invest in heavy fighters, static AA and radar, then Strat bombing wouldn't need to be banned. The only restriction imo should be that only countries that start out as majors should be allowed to research/produce/use strat bombers, to prevent spam and minor nations focusing all their production on them.
some days ago i played with a friend that has waking the tiger dlc (i dont) and he didn't remember to turn it off, well... the interesting thing its that i actually joined the game and i had all the new stuff of the dlc, strats, last stand, resuply. the only thonk i didn't have was the focuses, BUT we were playing with the Road to 56 dlc so.... it was an exploit/bug, or what? its posible in vanilla, im still researching xD. NICE VIDEO
Actually the way it works is the same way with eu4 and all other Paradox games, as long as the host has the DLC everybody who's under him has it, something else too if you leave the lobby before it starts you can then launch a single player game with all the DLC. However you won't be able to reload the save
Yo Dustin hope you are fine, with Florence and all. Big cheers from Europe! If you have no particular ideas for new videos, you could always upload maybe some mutliplayer games CONDENSED down into 10-20min with just the main highlights and such? Me (and I think most ppl.) have no idea how Multiplayer even looks like/what is different etc. and would love to see it. But most people just throw super long ~1hr videos onto youtube. Just an idea (;
Well the guy playing as the United States when absolutely nuts and had so many of them if his tanks were able to literally go around the German tank divisions and he was able to encircle 20 with only a few
Ted Archer transport Plane was not to supply who army(like in RL). Its only for small size succuful(like devs say). I used often about 100 plane in very poor infra region, in Africa (but very limited because low range of Trans. and already overall infra) or Naval invasion in Indonesia....
@@amocv that's why i said it is almost worthless. In real life transport planes were able to supply dozens of divisions, in hoi4 it is maybe 1 tiny division
Can you show a more realisitc scenario? Because strat bombing is also depending on how much air superiority you have which in this example is kinda unrealistic. Also, how can you counter them the best? Combination of heavy and light? Or just heavy? What about static AA and radar influence. Good video but it lacks depth imo.
Strategic bombers are best for destroying the infrastructure but if you need to possibly use them against ground forces it's better to go for tactical bombers
Planes cannot get intercepted going "through" other zones, right? If you have total air superiority over say, London, they can still send bombers to France without any hinderance from London? If this is so, this is very gamey. It's like the planes teloport to their sky zone.
Dustinl, i’m gonna ask you a question. Why is my 750 tactical bombers i sent to bomb the British airfield on Southern England didn’t do much of a damage even though i have more than 90% air superiority? I knew the damage i caused because i Switched to Britain to see the damage.
How does having AA Guns and radar + the factory bomb vulnerability bonuses from dispersed industry fare for defending against this? Probably still not enough for it to be worth taking up one's civilian factory use so I imagine it would still be just better to do air supply and have heavy fighters if being strat bombed? This is probably true especially since I don't think that vulnerability bonus helps air fields and infrastructure :P Hmm, I wonder if there's some tech paradox could add that could be like that vulnerability bonus but for infrastructure and such. I can't imagine what it would be though lmao. Perhaps, realistically, having extra alternative roads for supply lines would help in the real world, or underground supply tunnels. Probably the latter would make more sense to implement. IMO, I think that should be added in. While probably not historical,* it could help to have the tech there for ahistorical playthrough and multiplayer. *According to the wikipedia page on "tunnel warfare", there were tunnels used in World War 2, but not by Germany, who would presumably be the main target for strat bombing lol. Either way, the technology existed, so I don't see why it couldn't be included in the tech tree and also, perhaps, it's own "building" someone could build. Game mechanics-wise: it wouldn't have any buffs infrastructure gives, except perhaps could give an x% of supply relief when infrastructure is damaged. Probably would be expensive as hell though, but may be worth it if it means surviving a multiplayer match where strat bombers aren't banned and you don't want to use military factories to produce heavy fighters XD That would be the main advantage: one would no longer need to tie up their military factories building heavy fighters, as it would be civilian factory use to build such tunnels.
That's already in there. But first, here's a story. In a game of vanilla HOI4 I took up my home country of Hungary and tried if I could restore the old historical Hungary... Went easier than expected, WW2 hasn't even started and I was done. However, players of all 3 majors felt uneasy about it. USA roleplayed and wanted the conquered countries free, USSR wanted some land of mine, and if Germany wins, he'll want my lands too. I wanted to finish the game holding my reclaimed territories, but there's no telling who'll win the war and who'll attack me if I try to stay neutral. The region is undeveloped, so I'm still a minor power who has to stand up against the majors of USA, Soviets, or Germany. For almost the entirety of the game, my only concern will be survival. Is it possible to hold off a major as restored Hungary? You see, the borders are all mountains, and I'll put my production into forts on them. Not even the strongest player can break a border of 2*40 width troops on mountains with high level forts. And I can get enough infantry to garrison a front against any of the majors. So, I have an impenetrable border. But my plan was not ready. They could still break me by bombing my country and all the forts to the ground. No supplies, no forts, and it's over. I need to defend from the air. I'll dedicate more than half of my production for it. The time was 1938, so I considered my options. a) Go all out on heavy fighters and hope for the best. The problem is that a major like USA or USSR could still out-power a minor like me, even if I counter their crafts. Also, they might send in a crapton of escorts and my heavies are done. b) Rush jets. I calculated that I could unlock Jet1 by 1943 if I went all out. After stockpiling the necessary equipment for 5 years, I can safely put 100% of my production into jets. However, the stats of a Jet1 are quite similar to that of a Fighter3. This approach is useless. c) Same but with rocket interceptors. They're quite good for anti-bomber defense. Probably the strongest aircraft for that role. But there's still a problem: if they attack, that could very well happen before 1943-4. It's risky. Also, they could still out-power me. I'm small. d) Abandon the concept of an air force, and go all out on Anti-air buildings. Build civ factories instead of the mils, and build a crapton of AA. I chose the latter. Started building state-AA everywhere, went for dispersed industry to minimise damage, and additionally, got the techs that boost AA. I spent 2 of my research slots to rush all radar, and all AA gun techs (these boost the AA building). Turns out, having all these techs and level5 AA in a state would give more than 100% bombing reduction, but it's capped at 90%. Still, 90% bombing damage reduction is pretty good. Applies to all things: factories, airfields, infrastructure, forts, everything. Due to the cap, dispersed industry was a worthless pick. And remember: I had more civs and less mils, so that's a bonus for repair. AA building is good by itself, but the techs improve it greatly. Did I mention that AA buildings not just reduce bombing damage, they also shoot down stuff? Kill bombers? After showing it to the others, noone decided to bother me. Was an allied victory btw.
So what do strat bombers Destroy on vanilla, just asking because whenever i annex a country after start bombing the heck out of them it shows that only infrastructure needs repairs.
sweet will need the debug option so I can see the lot and then orcastrage stuff to make the game a lot better in entertainment with out having to save and then reload.
wait....wait.... air resupply is in this game? How do I now know about this? I read every dev diary. Holy shit there is finally a point to paratroopers and transport planes.
If you're talking about five infantry at 5 aa it's really good since a egg is soft attack and at the same time removes any non air superiority penalties
@@dustinl796 No, I'm talking about building the AA guns on the map to stop the bombing attacks, how effective are they if you have your entire country at 5/5 on every buildable location?
Ah, thanks. I stopped trying to strategically bomb after getting very unimpressive results with a couple hundred bombers barely damaging anything, but you showed that air spam actually works. Is there a way to make rocket sites viable? They seem to send one rocket per day, get intercepted and barely damage anything.

I can easily explain why Strat bombing is not liked in multiplayer:
1: You can bomb the capital infratructur and completly destroy supply lines.
Ask the german 6th army about it.
i agree with all your points but i still wish they were allowed in mp
And they will be if Paradoy fix these things. At least partly.
4rd and most importent thing about strat bombing is, the teleporting airplains. When Germany etablish air superioity in netherlands and in the chanel, how could bombers behehinde the line? This is ridicoulus
ehhh just build heavy fighters bitch boi
Just my nazi historical accuracy side here, Göring never came up with the idea to supply the 6th army. It was a Jeschonnek, when asked by Hitler if he thought such an airlift was possible, who said yes AT FIRST (but was then told by other people at the luftwaffe that no, this is not possible). He then tried to dissaude Hitler but his mind was already set, and only two days later Goring arrived (he was at an oil conference when this was discussed) and he had no choice but to say yes or face Hitler's wrath. He never came with it nor did he persuade Hitler that it was possible.
6:45 mutinies! You can cause mutinies through strat bombing. Also a good reason why strategic bombing is so OP.
Thats alotta damage
Right???
But does Phil have enough flex tape for all that Daaamage?
I SAWED THIS GERMANY IN HALF
Well, try to counter 5000 Strat Bombers from USA in 1941 :-)
Your Airfileds are down in a few days.
yeaaa thats what i did in mp 1 time when germany broke a rule so i started researching strats and had 4 or 5k in a year all baring down 😂
lol a type of strat bomber that is still in service IRL... A strategic chad.
Man your videos are great
Thanks 😁
They should make it like hoi3 were you can just air supply or logistic bombing. With tactical bombers and transports. As a regular assigned mission.
@@jefferyallen5030 This is Paradox we are talking about, that's too logical, and FREE. Maybe after 3 more years they will implement it for another 30 euros
finally, if i’m bored and unable to do anything, i can just start a civil war with cheatland Hoi4 console commands
note that fighters also have agility and after the wake of the tiger Strat bombers can easily be disrupted by fighters (while not all of them).
Nicely put :-)
Always target Runways first, Infrastructure second and Civs third
Also, I've never played a MP game of HoI4, but I imagine the reason it is banned is because if you haven't built up a critical mass of heavy fighters, when the strat bombers come, it is too little, too late. I mean, it seems like in the video you took Germany out of the picture in a matter of days.
Hours 😂
@@dustinl796 how is that fair
I’m just hoping you stay safe
Thx
Air defense does not increase the chance you shoot down fighters, it only reduces the damage done to you. It is still air attack that deals damage.
ah alright then
As always, quantity is quality.
You helped me a lot! Thanks.
If did this help me? This is just fantastic!! Now I will play with little nations to see if this can help against the big ones
Good luck 😁
The hope:
Similarly to how this works with line armies, they will be at the forefront of the action and shift as the needs shift.
I don't think division AA works against strat bombers.
Divison AA does not protect against strategic bombing.
Heavy fighters work well, and the range means that you aren't as hindered by losing airfields, but you still have the problem of trying to find where the bombers switch to, and most players don't have heavy fighters around when things start. Regular fighters also trade fine when you factor in the you can build 5 fighters for the price of 2 bombers, but it's much more vulnerable
thumbs down on the word anyways in your post it is typed anyway not anyways but that is a interesting set up for air and ground defence.
The tutorials are helping so much, thanks mate
Great video. You deserve way more subscribers!
there is a reason why heavy fighters are the most underused air asset in the game. They are painful to research and, especially in the early game, they are diverting industrial capacity from more needed weapons platforms. Also their agility and speed being sub par, their use is really limited to dropping strat bombers... The counter being: have more fighters than a biblical locust swarm and static AA
yea but isnt the point of hoi4 to be difficult?
yes. I like it being "difficult". But I also like taking advantage of strong points. Being a mostly fascist player I need a metric ton of fighters in the early/mid game. Dedicating a production line to heavy fighters could be detrimental. Not only that. I can forget researching planes until 1940.
Thank you for explaining everything that took hard earned hours to learn lol needed this years ago
Glad to have helped 😁
Learned a couple of new things for sure! Thanks! :)

very very new to Heat of iron 4, every time encounter a trouble, tried to find guide/help from youtube, and mostly ended up in your video. I must say your guide are very effective, but at the same time, it lead me to encounter more problem, kinda just finally able to invade several minor country well and secure enough supplies and stuff. tried to sea invade UK, but due to bad logistic i can get from sea route, my 25 division invasion forces got encircled and annihilated due to lack of supplies. still got a lot to learn..
just a question, does multiplayer welcome newbies? owo been playing single player again and again and again, but keep losing every time, wanna try multiplayer to see if i can learn something else more
If you keep losing in single player, you aren't ready for multiplayer
I know I already said this and I'm not spamming, but I would love to see a video on tank Destroyers, self-propelled artillery, and self-propelled anti-air.
I do have that planned however currently I'm going through hurricane Florence and don't know when I'm going to be able to do it I have it written down low and have part of it recorded

tactical bombers are good for bombing?
@le_zitron_foufou ever heard of AAA? Division with 2 aa battalions and a support shoots down 100-200 cas per battle, maybe more
3rd tactics are as good as 1st strats
Tactical bombers are a lot weaker than strap bombers so if you're going up against someone who has air superiority or a they're going to get ripped apart, however they are a lot cheaper to produce and work amazing as Cass and Naval targeting. They're great for all the bombing and attacks except for strategic bombing. But in multiplayer lobbies since they banned the use of strategic bombers most people ignore making interceptors, if you get enough air experience early on an upgrade the armor on the aircraft to be maxed out you basically have a weaker strategic bomber
Dustin? Please don't die. Thanks.
Ima try,
"As the U.S. I massed produced strat bombers"
"Just- just bomb them all!"
*Americanizim increases 100 points*
Fighter escorts if you're planning on using the doctrine for Fighters
Force them to leave the safety of their radar and aa to protect their convoys.
lotta good points :)
Same with radars. Radar, AA and some rather small amount of heavy fighters on intercept do solve the strat bomber issue rather easily.
BTW heavy tanks make Japan game so much easier because you got shitload of chromium laying around.
Thanks for creating the video :D
😁
Do they simply disable the unit or kick you when you use them?
Great video! However, my main complaints would be that this does not necessarily represent Strategic bombing as how it truly goes down in-game. For example:
The year is 1936.
I can see a lot of those points, glad you enjoyed the video 😉
can you consider adding subtitles to your videos? i often like to watch yt on a bus etc. and its hard when i dont have headphones with me

This video may be old but i think still work
Actually aiming is not in vanilla. But when bombing, switch targets regularly so that enemy interceptors can't catch up with you.
Then again I've never actually strat bombed anyone because I don't want my occupation industry taken away.
Yeah I could see those points
it did help me out. thanks
Glad to help
So how do you counter it, other than long range fighters? And do you have to micro it? Is there no auto-defense against bombers?
A massive air force of Heavy Fighters and lots of anti-air on the ground.
These strat bombers are the reason I always have 200 fighters and another 200 heavy fighters over my core regions.
😁
I’m liking the strategy, no doubt this would destroy in multiplayer but just even decimate AI.
right?
this breaks the game,if you played a mult player game and if you did that against the other player that controls germany.......it's gg
ive been countered before doing it. all you need is aa and heavy fighters

Would you say that England and USA are the only nations that should use strat bombers?
If not which other nations could make good use of them?
aside from who you said australia, russia, and maybe canada. minors are good air controllers with strat bombers sense they arent doing that much and sometimes can swap bombers to areas where germany or whoever isnt really watching

can someone help me? what does air wing doesnt have coverage mean?
As France I was trying to bomb Italy's forts in the Alps to make way for an invasion. I had about 200-300 strategic bombers and I made the prioritize forts but they were barely being damaged. How many strategic bombers do I need to be effective?
it depends, do they have air superiority, dispersed industry, static aa, interceptors? all these lower the damaged strat bombers do
Are you planning to do guide on naval doctrine? Perhaps after man the guns?
Yes, while i was doing doctrine guides man the guns was announced so im waiting
If only players actually cared to invest in heavy fighters, static AA and radar, then Strat bombing wouldn't need to be banned. The only restriction imo should be that only countries that start out as majors should be allowed to research/produce/use strat bombers, to prevent spam and minor nations focusing all their production on them.
i feel as tho a rule should just be you cant specifically target airfields
Dustinl796 Videos Yeah that's logical, it's kinda gamebreaking otherwise.
some days ago i played with a friend that has waking the tiger dlc (i dont) and he didn't remember to turn it off, well... the interesting thing its that i actually joined the game and i had all the new stuff of the dlc, strats, last stand, resuply. the only thonk i didn't have was the focuses, BUT we were playing with the Road to 56 dlc so.... it was an exploit/bug, or what? its posible in vanilla, im still researching xD. NICE VIDEO
YEAH IT WORKS IN VANILLA. if i was the only that didn't know im sorry guys :p
I think you only need one person to have the dlc for both of you to use it
Actually the way it works is the same way with eu4 and all other Paradox games, as long as the host has the DLC everybody who's under him has it, something else too if you leave the lobby before it starts you can then launch a single player game with all the DLC. However you won't be able to reload the save

Thanks and I did have a plan for something like that but things kept happening to cause issues
Sadly air supply is almost worthless. You need at least half a thousand transport planed to do something, and each of them cost as much as a destroyer
Well the guy playing as the United States when absolutely nuts and had so many of them if his tanks were able to literally go around the German tank divisions and he was able to encircle 20 with only a few
But you can only do 333 transport planes at a time. Command Power is capped
@@jamesmurchie6157 exactly
Light fighters on air superiorityband heavy in intercept. Radars and aa also healp a lot
i never understood why 100% of all supply comes from capital. supply should be more transient depending on how concentrated your industry is
I don't have this option, is it some DLC ?
should i use tactical bombers or strategic bombers?
Strategic bombers are best for destroying the infrastructure but if you need to possibly use them against ground forces it's better to go for tactical bombers
@@dustinl796 thanks mate
Planes cannot get intercepted going "through" other zones, right? If you have total air superiority over say, London, they can still send bombers to France without any hinderance from London?
If this is so, this is very gamey. It's like the planes teloport to their sky zone.
How do you pick the bombing targets?? I don't have this scope thingy next to tactical bombing
It shouldn't be needed but do you have the waking the tiger DLC?
Dustinl, i’m gonna ask you a question. Why is my 750 tactical bombers i sent to bomb the British airfield on Southern England didn’t do much of a damage even though i have more than 90% air superiority? I knew the damage i caused because i Switched to Britain to see the damage.
enemy aa?
Dustinl796 Videos Enemy AA was literally gone, it’s already out of the question.
Probably would be expensive as hell though, but may be worth it if it means surviving a multiplayer match where strat bombers aren't banned and you don't want to use military factories to produce heavy fighters XD
That would be the main advantage: one would no longer need to tie up their military factories building heavy fighters, as it would be civilian factory use to build such tunnels.
How to defeat Medium/Heavy tanks? Luv the vids man
I'll tell you right now to defeat heavy tanks you need Auntie tank and a lot of Cass as for mediums anti-tank,cass, and tanks

Dustin, could you tell me wich mod you use to make frontlines like that?
Strategic view adjustments
Ah, thanks. I stopped trying to strategically bomb after getting very unimpressive results with a couple hundred bombers barely damaging anything, but you showed that air spam actually works. Is there a way to make rocket sites viable? They seem to send one rocket per day, get intercepted and barely damage anything.
Id say no. They are not really good
Which dlc adds all this stuff to strat bombing?
Waking the tiger i think
