The process of making this video was one of the most fun for sometime, going from "There's no way this actually works" to "It might work" to "Oh my it actually worked" is a thrill I can't explain well, maybe those of you who have tried to make hoi4 strats can understand what I mean. On top of that just recording/editing this went exceptionally well and all was near flawless.
For the research bonus from Encourage Colonial Elite, it represents the educated class in all the dominions being centered around British institutions for their educations. Loads of wealthy, intelligent, or connected people in the Commonwealth still seek their degree at Oxford or Cambridge. The empire was also a center for research. The cholera and plague vaccines were developed by a Russian Jewish immigrant working for the government of the Raj, for example.
The peace deals seem bugged, in few occasions i couldn't get enough war score to annex everything even if I was the only victorious partecipant in the war.
This also effects the Spanish civil war. I was playing the anarchists and when the Portuguese rose up, I was stopped in my tracks because of the peace deal that followed
Thanks so much for this guide! Still works 27/08/2023 - However you must leave declaring war on canada until United Kingdom is at least 90% towards capitulation. Otherwise a lot of the times. The game will recalculate them as a Major power in the War.
It actually doesn’t effect Japan due to the fact that Manchukuo is an imperial puppet, which causes it to split from Japan at the start, while also taking mengkukuo in as its own puppet. Oh btw this trick still works for UK, and it’s a ton of fun. Definitely one of the easiest and maybe even the best path in the whole game
This also happens if declare for the dutch east indies at the start of the game. You can no longer annex the DEI completely by just capitulating the Netherlands. I think it's a glitch though.
Something really cool I found out while doing this strategy myself: if you annex all the dominions in a peace deal, and opt to release one of them as a puppet, the dominion will still declare independence, but since it'll be fascist, it'll be willing to join your faction if you've created one. This makes it easier to integrate a formable nation (such as Mutapa for South Africa or Polynesia for New Zealand, though the Dominion of North America requires that Canada be a puppet) into the Imperial Federation. And, of course, as people mentioned below, you can integrate the European Union (Germany, France, Italy, and the Benelux) to gain even more cores. As for forming a faction (I call mine the "Allied Imperia" for extra irony) I recommend starting with Nationalist Spain, as if you form the Federation this early, it won't have the Recovering From Civil War debuff, and will actually be willing to form a faction with you. There's a focus for inviting Italy, and you can bring Hungary in due to Horthy's Fascist Sympathies modifier (sometimes it'll say "Hungary would prefer to join the Axis", but the debuff will go away eventually). Italy will have over 50 factories by this point, and Spain and Hungary will both have at least 10, allowing you to pick up an extra spy if you go Spy Master.
For some reason the peace deal doesn't trigger when the UK capitulates and then after a few days or immediately Canada becomes a major, fair enough i guess, that's what would happen historically, like in Kaiserreich or smth
Idk what happens in your game but I just ran it again and it worked fine, the only I thing I did in this video that goes unmentioned is that I changed the garrison law to local autonomy, but I doubt that caused it.
It can be connected to the major calculation of the hoi4. On the beginning of each month the major is being calculated so I guess you capped the UK on the end of the month and while the game is calculating the month switched and therefore Canada became major
Would be cool to see a Switzerland video. Whenever I try to do a focus I always had something missing. More than 20 fascism, less than 80 demo, full ederal council power etc. Couldn't found the perfect formula.
And now with Gotterdammerung, the Blackshirts path is EVEN MORE broken, because now the EU can core literally all of Europe. It takes time and PP, much like the extra cores for the Roman Empire, but still, coring ALL of Europe.
Great found. I'd like to see your gameplay with historical France, so many buffs but interesting in 1939-1940. I never succeed being aggressive, unless I go the Spain war / Little Entente route: I only manage to win as defensive, with a few many forts.
Funny thing, my latest DLC is Bosphorus. And I tried that and completely failed every time :) The colonies don't capitulate and continue the war, France gets to the Allies, Chechoslovakia too... So, it's a no done deal...
It would appear they've already fixed this. Followed your video to a T and the tree didn't bypass down to integration. In fact, I can't even complete Commonwealth ties, it's just greyed out.
They haven't. I did it today, don't know what you've done to cause this to happen. I only can assume mods or something to that effect changed your game.
@@BubblesZest You're correct to an extent. When I do the peace deal I ran into the same issue you did with not having enough to annex everybody. However, since I didn't have enough to annex everybody that's why the focus was greyed out, which still confuses me as to why yours auto completed and mine didn't. Easy solution however, I just completed Commonwealth ties before changing course and that solved my issue.
@@xxcube_eartherxx5352 not sure if they patched it or if I’m just unlucky. But when I win the civil war and release them as puppets, I get events where they all go independent anyway 🤷🏼♂️
@@toolboxnj IIRC the US can't enforce guarantees (even the ones it starts with) until world tension reaches 25 or 50% since it wasn't that high when war was declared on Canada, the guarantee is useless
@@BubblesZest So ive just done a run and ive declared war on the dominions just before the uk reaches 100% capitulation and it still happens, there could be a chance it doesn't work for everyone.

You are declaring war on Canada too soon. Declare war on the sub-nations when Loyalist Britain is about 90% towards capitulation. This will not give the game time enough to recalculate Canada as a major in the war.
The Imperial Federation and the EU can both be formed as a fascist UK, neither prevent you from completing the other - in other words, 1984 (fascismo edition), here we come!
America requires like 25% to 50% world tension for them to be able to enforce the guarantee. Kinda like how you can go Mexico, and declare war on almost every nation America guarantees and they dont give a shit
